We were linked to Firmino earlier in the window. Any idea if this is still a possibility or is it off? He can play across the front four and he contributed to 30 goals last season for Hoffenheim. Could he be a viable option? Cheers

Thanks Eds. Is it a Loan?. City splashed close to 25 mill on him. How much is he worth now?
{Ed008's Note - No the fee wasn't 25m I think it's a permanent transfer but it's just rumours for now.
The BBC are reporting he is joining sunderland for a fee in the region of 10 mil and that man city paid 12 mil for him
I think he will go on to become a good player for Sunderland. He has the talent, but he was never going to get game time at City. He wasted a fair chunk of his career there.

Just read Ilori & perhaps Coates could be going to Deportivo, any info on this Eds?
Personally I'm hoping we keep them both as backup and sell Skrtel & Agger but with Toure now certainly staying I guess there'd only be room for 1 more.

I would have kept him and sold Skertel. I don't understand in buying players and then loaning them.
What is the club's current thinking on Illori? We spent a reasonable amount on bringing him in. He was always tabbed as one for the future, but given our issues at the back you think he might have been in the squad this year if we saw him progressing. Do the club still see him as an option for the future do you know?
Eds do you know whether that is due to playing time or because he wishes to leave the club/prefers playing in spain as oppose to a loan in England.

Don't understand what these loan players have to do to get Rodgers attention? Why spent £8m on him, send him out to progress which he does and then give him no reward. He cannot make anymore mistakes than Toure did or look anymore shaky then Sahko did. He needs to play in our squad in our system or there is not point.
Defenders take longer to refine their game and develop an understanding and reading of it. If the manager doesn't think he is ready, and thus not going to get much playing time, then surely a loan to a club were he will play is option for both us and him?

Don't think Skrtel will be going anywhere , looks like were trying to offload Agger though. I never did understand the Ilori signing , likewise this other kid from Athletico Madrid.

Ed002, you seem to be onto to these things, so I'm thinkin with regard Jose Reina, is there a chance of a 'mutual termination' of his contract? Would that involve a pay off as well from Liverpool? Its seems awfully difficult to shift him when the club don't want him and you've said its down to wages. Is there anyway around this or do Liverpool simply want too much of a fee for him?
I've read LFC have already lowered the fee for Assaidi as you had mentioned, so surely there must be some interest in Reina at a low fee? Surely something can or will be worked out? Are we just holding out to get the best possible terms?
Also do you see Ilori moving to Dotmund? I don't know what we were doing signing the lad if we won't give him a game. Even Paletta an Jovanovic got games didn't they?! Seems crackers.

Ed002 how do you see the Ilori situation. You've mentioned a couple of times he'd prefer to go to Spain or you see he going to Spain.
Do you see him returning if he does? He is just not good enough or is he almost being driven out by the lack of faith and opportunity he's being given?
