Rafa's agent has denied it, but we'll see, I really hope so :) Rafa, Rafael, Rafa, Rafael, Rafa, Rafael, Rafael Benitez!! Still have a lot of time for Rafa :-)

Ed i've heard Newcastle may look to loan Wilson in January or he will join a championship team till the end of the season.
Heard anything?

KT! {Ed001's Note - there have been a number of talks, personally I expect him to go to Blackpool as a sorry for recalling Shelvey.}

Thanks Ed, was told about it last week but completly forgot about it.
Remembered about it because of Taylor being injured for the rest of the season.
A loan could really help him an it's what he needs personally.

KT!

Would be stupid Loaning him out to New Castle, they are playing very good and are considered compettion for top 4, another EPL not rivaling top 4 and also to give him a starting XI position would be better, even a Championship team

I think a loan to Newcastle would be a great move for Wilson. He'd probably get playing time with Taylor out for the season, he'd get premiership experience, and if we don't finish above Newcastle this season it'll be the teams fault, not Danny Wilson's. Being a Scot, I really wanna see Wilson do well at the club, he looked a class act at CB up in the SPL at a young age, and handled champions league very well.

We need rafa back we are aqful this season even worse than his last season in charge

I find it very unlikely that we will get Lucas Ocampos, the calibre of teams involved in the chase are like nothing we can offer him compared, It is most likely that Chelsea or Utd. Will pip us to it, however, If KK wants him badly enough, who knows :)

on a lighter note, looks like we are going to approach FC Twente for their rather promising Defensive midfielder, Leroy Fer, is likely to be about 10-15m, trouble is, if we do swoop for him in January...what happens when Lucas comes back? Dilemma, Lemme know what you guys think, would he be a good move?

YNWA

Pistol

Calibre of teams : Chelski or U*hited , Why would you consider us a lessor team ?

Fer is not a defensive midfielder. How many more people are going to post this?

Rewflo

@1st Reply, in the eyes of a south american we are a lesser team, you must understand that the attraction of Champions League Football & Other certain perks will act as a means of getting them there, not here.

@Rewflo, he is, he's a versatile player, can play all the way across the back line, but can also play DM, Research your facts more.

Re-@1st Reply , Where are Suarez and Coates from ?

Suarez was aware of liverpool from a young age, suarez got Coates on board in my opinion, lets not assume that all south americans know and love us, to Assume makes an Ass of you not me ;)

But surely that is what you are doing is assuming? :s lol

Stop being so proud. chelsea have way more money, utd are a 'bigger' team whether you like it or not. so if its just money the player is after, we'll be down the pecking order, if they want to join a successful club, we wouldn't be first choice either. i wish it were different but thats the way it is at the moment, be relistic for now.

I am quite sure that we'd not be signing a dm in january. very unlikely. We might be bringing in a striker or winger. If we do, some business in January. YNWA

We wont sign a dm in january kenny has trust in jay spearing as do aye hes a good enough player

Hi Eds
Just wondering if there is any truth in a double swoop in france for Ally Cissoko and Yann M' villa ?

I believe that Cissoko could play left midfield and Downing moving to the right , M'Villa in the lucas role

YNWA {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt we will move for a left back to play left wing so that we can switch a left winger to the right wing.}

Ed I dunno if its escaped your notice, but sometimes Downing plays right wing anyway, and he seems more comfortable in that position. {Ed001's Note - and so you want to sign a left back to play on the left wing? Makes no sense.}

Im not saying that, im saying that one bit you said in their, was untrue, Downing can play either wing, Its Not Cissokho we need, its Johnson, surely people cannot think that we will be after a left back with Enrique. {Ed001's Note - he can play either wing, but he is a left winger.}

But didnt Downing say he prefered playing on the right ??

Wasnt Gareth Bale a left back once also !!

Ed, what is your opinion on our chances to get Lucas Ocampos? Do you even think it likely we will enter the fight? {Ed001's Note - not really, I don't see us moving for him at all.}

The most important thing Ed was saying was why buy a left back to play left wing and not just buy an actual winger to play there

Adam Johnson is the best solution I think in my opinion....

I'd rather wait and get a good RW, not a versatile LW that may be available now. It would be nice to have 2 top players in every position, but the owners are only millionaires, not billionaires!

Downing said he prefers the right {Ed001's Note - perhaps you could link me to the quote, because I have spoken with him in the past and he never said anything of the sort to me.}

Keep Downing on the left for feck sake,every time he changes to the right,we get very narrow and predictable,like last season.When there he produces nothing esp when Carrol is on the bench,no easy target to find.Please Kenny go out and get a top right winger in the January sales.

Dimitri Payet to Liverpool for £10million. {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

04 Dec 2011 18:58:19
Not related to Liverpool, but Ed, have Lyon made Gourcuff available and if so for how much? {Ed002's Note - No.}

04 Dec 2011 18:53:43
Nicolas Anelka for £4million and Nathan Dyer for £10million.

Slap ur self for sayin that !!

Seriously behave yourself mate

10 million for nathan dyer? what a massive step backwards, he is not good enough for liverpool football club

To Liverpool?

Ha seriously how can Nathan dyer be rated at 10m

This is LFC mate no WBA

Not even a chance. Anelka very highly unlikely and Dyer isn't good enough. Why pay 10m for him, when there are many better players than him in the squad atm.

Top targets in my opinion

- Lucas ocampos ( number 1 )
- Chris Eriksen ( number 2 )
- Hoilett ( number 3 )

Number one target plays for river plate in argentina. This kid is a sensation. according to numerous articles we are leading the race to sign " the new ronaldo " he adds everything we miss, flare and a possible something out of nothing. if we miss out on this kid we will definately regret it.

Number two, this guy is shear class the next best to iniesta.

Number three, proven prem league experience and adds pace and flare.

Are these 3 players possible eds ( ed002 or 001)
and if so who is more likely
have you heard any interest on number one lucas ?
LTP the red ! {Ed002's Note - River Plate's Lucas Ocampos has been looked at by a number of sides with Bayern Munich and Chelsea maintaining an interest. I understand that Diego Caniggia took a look on behalf of Liverpool but it was decided that he would be too expensive to buy and that seems to have ended any brief interest that Liverpool had. Inter Milan, Sevilla and Palermo have also shown an interest and Juventus (not either of the MIlan clubs) made a bid of $15.5M. Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. Back in mid July someone from the Milan Press Office said he had heard of interest from Manchester United - but I am not aware of any confirmation of that interest. I doubt that January is an option for a move to Liverpool, but perhaps the summer. The player has expressed an interest to move to Spain. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool at this time. Spurs, Newcastle, Stoke and possibly Aston Villa have been interested - plus a couple of clubs from Germany. I don't understand the Lucas question.}

How likely out of ten are these players ed
i think they would be fantastic

KOPJIM {Ed002's Note - I recommend reading my response.}

04 Dec 2011 17:21:50
I heard that we have scouted Eduardo Vargas (chilean) a number of times and that we preparing to bid for him in January with the first offer to be £12M, also heard that Anelka will not be coming as we are not prepared to pay £4M for a 32 year old who is out of contact at the end of the season, We are also still scouting a number of players in the south american leagues as Kenny wants to add more flair to the team.
RIP Gary Speed..........

04 Dec 2011 17:14:58
Is there any chance that liverpool could sign Javi Martinez in January? {Ed002's Note - No. I was told a few weeks ago that Inter Milan may make a bid for Javi in January if they decide not to take Juraj Kucka from co-owners Genoa. I am not convinced that Bilboa will want to sell the player in January, and if they do they will want something over 40M euro.}

04 Dec 2011 16:35:07
Eds do you know if we are still in for Matt Jarvis? {Ed002's Note - The club bought Downing so I very much doubt it.}

04 Dec 2011 16:27:38
hi eds just wandering if bolton are still interested in loaning sterling and flanagan {Ed002's Note - Sterling is not old enough to go on loan and clubs are no longer allowed to take more than one player on loan from the same loaning side. So no is the answer.}

Wich player have we loaned out 2 bolton ?...or hav i just mis read it

The Ed means that in the process of loaning both Sterling and Flanno we would first break the age rules regarding Sterling and then the 2 player loan rule

TSP

Love the play on words - "just wandering if bolton" -

04 Dec 2011 16:15:22
Sulley Muntari to be loaned from Inter to end of season.

04 Dec 2011 14:24:54
Anelka says on his Twitter account that he knows where he will be playing his football in January. He does not say where this is though.

Ed 2; do you know where this is? You do not seem to think it is Liverpool, but we could easily use him, and only costs £4m...?

Mikey B {Ed002's Note - I know there has been no agreement with Chelsea yet so nothing is firm. Nic has had a couple of firm offers (one from Shanghai Shenhua one from Zenit) and he has met or spoken with several clubs (Anzhi, Impact and PSG to my knowledge and there may have been others) but none have made firm offers as far as I am aware. He will not have spoken to any English clubs at this time. I really don't see Liverpool in the loop at all and I very much doubt that the club have had even a thought on the matter of Anelka.}

Anelka must prefer PSG, but I guess he could be swayed by money. {Ed002's Note - Why must he prefer PSG?}

He is bound to go to PSG. {Ed002's Note - I really don't see why you think that. I can do no more than suggest that if I were a gambling man I would put my pound Anelka joining Shanghai Shenhua - assuming terms can be agreed with Chelsea.}

Not sure where he will be going! But 4M for a 32 years old player? SERIOUSLY?

04 Dec 2011 13:45:16
Any interest in James Forrest?

Watched celtic v st mirren before heading down to the man city game,does not tackle,not a bad reader of a game ,it would be a bad move going for him,my brother in law is a celtic season ticket holder and he does not rate him, tony fife

04 Dec 2011 13:38:00
Leroy Fer possible target to replace Lucas.
Anelka to come in on a 2year contract.

04 Dec 2011 13:36:15
Hoilett and Ramirez signing in Jan would be great... Big chance of this happening, from what Ive been told.

RM

Is that gaston ramirez

Yeah mate.

RM

04 Dec 2011 12:29:50
Ed do you know if there is a chance of krasic coming in jan? I heard that he has been offered to us {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is any chance of him moving to Liverpool in January. Juventus will be open to good offers for Krasic at some point but it is unclear if the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Malaga and Roma are still interested in a player who has not taken well to sitting on the sidelines. The player has declared his interest in Manchester United and it is not out of the question that they may be interested in Krasic. Juventus may value the player out of the winter window though. There is at least one person at Chelsea who very much likes the player and may wish to revisit earlier interest.}

A fantastic right winger.

Hygh Pugh.

04 Dec 2011 12:04:33
Hoilett is a definite target for January.

RM

Do you know any other targets RM. Is kagawa still one?

Spurs are favourites to land his signature at the moment I'm afraid

So which players are targets for january and can you tell me who's your source?

Where on earth would he fit in at spurs then ?!

Spurs are always the favourites to sign players - remember Wickham, Aguero, Mata and Llorente to name but a few.

You would have to ask harry that question! I only passed on what I had been told and what I had heard.

Favourites to land wickham! yes they were at the time! aguero, mata no! llorente, they are still tracking the player, as for liverpool, theres about 30 different names a day that your getting, two of those at the time WERE aguero & mata! your even taking about adebayor at the min as well lol, we won't get him, wages to high, and I very much doubt you will either! if your going to throw stones? Step out if the glass house fella!

04 Dec 2011 11:38:57
hi ED do you think we'll try to buy Alex of chelsea since he put in a transfer request {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why would we, alex is a poor defender

04 Dec 2011 11:25:38
Have a friend who said anelka is very likely to play in states due to big contract being offered. This true ed?

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - There is no contract offer yet but the Red Bulls are known to be interested but have no open Designated Player position right now. LA Galaxy will have an opening for a Designated Player as of January 1 when David Beckham leaves to join PSG. At present they are planning on offering it to another EPL player - but we do not yet know if he will be open to the move.}

Who is this other player Ed? Pray tell please.
Jason {Ed002's Note - It is irrelevant to the discussion and nothing is agreed at all, so it is best just to let that run its course.}

Camaaaaaan! Rumour us. I won't hold ya to it I promise! Can't speak for everyone else tho. Unfortunately!
Jason

I'd hazard a guess at Frank Lampard or Rio Ferdinand, and i'd guess Chelsea would be more likely to sell than man utd at the moment.

Rugby Parker

To avoid the release of a rumour when by name you are rumour peddlers....suspicious. Would the mention of said player's near and dear name start a meltdown on this particular board?

Hearing that Michael Owen could be LA Galaxy bound

Sorry, missed a bit out. Is it possible with interest shown in Ramirez that Bologna have tied him to the new contract, knowing it will push his price up, if the italian sports papers are true that EPL culbe have shown interest. (not very good at explaining things Soz) Is there any confirmed interest from LFC Jim22 {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any confirmation of interest beyond Liverpool and others having the player watched. As I have said, if a good offer were made Bologna would no doubt listen to it (but teams don't always try and use an extending contract to get leverage in this way.} I also think that they would not want to sell in January as it would eb disruptive to teh team. I have also said that a move to other sides including Sevilla, Palermo, Juventus and one or two EPL sides remain a possibility as well as unsubstantiated rumours suggesting interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.}

04 Dec 2011 10:55:19
04 Dec 2011 03:59:00
Are we still in the race for Signing Gaston Ramirez ? {Ed002's Note - As for Gaston Ramirez, he has been watched by Liverpool. I suspect he will not be available until the summer unless a very good offer is made. A move to Sevilla, Palermo or Juventus is also possible - although unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested.}

--------------

Ed002. HAs he not got the same agent as Seb Coates. Im sure he signed with Bologna until 2016, although that would probably mean his transfer cost would have gone up. Italian papaers have linked him to LFC since septemberish, although that also hint there are other EPL clubs interested in him (jim22)

{ED002's NOte - He has a contract to 2016 and the same agent - I am not sure of your point.}

04 Dec 2011 04:20:47
Eds, do you see much chance of a loan move for Anelka in January? And with the injury of Lucas and only Adam and Spearing our CM we have at the minute will we be considering loaning in some backup? Hearing rumours of a loan move for Lassana Diarra just to fill the void, certainly not sure on its credibility though. Also, have we shown a definite interest in Cahill, Shawcross or Samba for January? I do not think we need any, we currently have Agger, Skrtel, Carra and Coates with Wilson and Wisdom coming through well, seems a bit pointless to me. Keep up the good work guys! {Ed002's Note - Anelka, no. The others, please refer to earlier answers.}

He has always talked about his regret of leaving Liverpool. He's still got a lot to offer in my opinion and the taem cannot rely on Suarez as much as they do.

DaveyBootle {Ed002's Note - Anelka is looking for a two year deal. There is no loan option available. To be clear Anelka did not chose to leave Liverpool. Liverpool rejected the opportunity to make his loan permanent. Houllier was very clear in an interview at the time.}

04 Dec 2011 04:02:31
Eds, lots of talk of Chris Samba joining in January but is there any need? Also Shawcross or Cahill to replace Carra but we have Coates and Wilson coming through, will we be giving them a chance? Also, what are the chances of us bringing in temporary holding midfielder with Lucas out for the season? Thanks guys! {Ed002's Note - I have said I am not convinced of a need for a CB. Please refer to earlier answers about Lucas and what Dalglish said.}

04 Dec 2011 03:59:00
Are we still in the race for Signing Gaston Ramirez ? {Ed002's Note - As for Gaston Ramirez, he has been watched by Liverpool. I suspect he will not be available until the summer unless a very good offer is made. A move to Sevilla, Palermo or Juventus is also possible - although unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested.}

04 Dec 2011 03:15:34
Ed.
What do you think are the chances that Roberto Soldado will be a Liverpool player in January or Summer?
Thanks {Ed001's Note - possibly in the summer, though it is far too early to tell.}

04 Dec 2011 02:43:36
What would be the chances of us signing any of....
Barry Bannan
Chiek Tiote
David Hoilett
Daniel sturridge
Mats Hummels &
Lucas Podolski?
YNWAJaYLFC

Barry Bannan
Chiek Tiote - signed new deal so no
David Hoilett - possible but no intrest
Daniel sturridge - no chance
Mats Hummels - no chance
Lucas Podolski - wants 1st team football and is in no rush to move as he is 1st name on team sheet and captain.

BigD

May be only hoilett..he ll suite our style of play..add victor moses also to tat list

Bannan, Hoilett and Podolski can be thought as possible January ins. But i doubt it will be any of these in the january transfer market for us.

Slim to no chance.

Barry Bannan 8/10
Chike Tiote 3/10
Hoilett as10/10
Sturridge 4/10
Mats Hummls and Lucas Podolski 7/10

They should have signed Basnnan in the summer instead of Adam. He is a very good young player and far better than the one-trick pony Adam who, as far as I have seen, is unable to tackle or head the ball. Quite an unbelievable feat for a professional footballer.

04 Dec 2011 01:41:28
Liverpool are looking to add Wilfried Zaha to the squad in January for a fee of 5mil.

This will be the only addition to the first team squad.

The club are after a number of youth players too..in particular Max Clayton and Jordan Ibe. The duo would set the club back around 2mil.

We have also made an offer for Andy Polo. He has agreed to join an unnamed English side, believed to be either Arsenal or Liverpool. Hope it's us, similar player to Owen. He will probably reveal who he is joining in the next week or so.

Dalglish will use either Spearing or Coady in the holding midfield role. We will not be signing a like-for like midfielder to Lucas to temporarily replace him.

Also, I know this is a bit too far into the future, but several sources have told me that Liverpool will make a £14.5mil offer for Marco Reus in the summer, activating his buyout clause. Whether we actually sign him is another kettle of fish completely.

Aurelio and Maxi will both leave on free transfers at the end of the season.

Kuyt and Skrtel MAY leave if we get decent offers (around 8mil+ for either of them.) If Skrtel leaves, expect the club to go after either Godin or Hummells, the latter being the first choice, albeit more expensive option.

The club are also hoping Sterling can make the breakthrough next season, and this extra option out wide will allow Henderson to compete for a place in the centre of midfield. He was the one bought to replace Gerrard, but Dalglish feels he will improve drastically by playing a season or so out wide.

AZ

Without sounding disrespectful, what's your source/proof for all of this?

The buyout clause is 18 nt 14.5

Sorry I wasnt clear...18million euros which is roughly £14.5mil

The unnamed english club for andy polo is joining according to london press and gossip is spurs, believed to have already signed, jordan ibe is also believed to be on the verge of signing for spurs!!

I think this post is just another opinion, not fact.Spearing is obviously ahead of Coady in the pecking order but I agree that it is unlikely that we will be looking for a replacement for Lucas as we have plenty of talent available in mid field.
Polo or someone similar would be nice.

This would be a good signing Zaha is a great young player and good for the future

How do you know these things? The club are doing things behind closed doors. I bet not even 1 of these will be right.

Andy Polo said he has signed with an unamed european side not neccesserily EPL

Hi ed's, is it true that Steven Gerrard will be back in full training next week? {Ed001's Note - that does seem to be the suggestion, though I am unconvinced he is that close to a return, otherwise why recall Shelvey?}

Because without Shelvey what would mean we would only have Gerrard , Adam and Spearing challenging for the CM position you could say Henderson aswell however Dalglish seems to prefer him out wide.

Tom.

Dalglish said gerrard would miss the man city games (carling cup)

Although Henderson has been indicated as a wide player on the team sheets he has played a more central role in the last 2 games giving us more of a 4,3,3 look. Personally I think this is why we have improved.
CR

In the Liverpool Echo they have a 'spotted' column once a week. In last weeks (Thursday I think) Steven Gerrard was spotted coming out of a restaurant in town - on crutches! It doesn't sound likely to me that he is going to be ready any time soon.
