Good morning Eds. I saw a rumor that Liverpool is interested in Ibrahima Konate. I used the search engine and only saw him mentioned in passing.

I know that Ed01 rates him and was just curious to know if Liverpool have an actual interest.

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - Ibrahima Konate (CB) Whilst I am not aware of any approach to RBL by Liverpool over Konate, I would certainly expect them to be reluctant to sell, particularly in January, he makes more sense than others mentioned and he would be a suitable starter Klopp wants to replace Gomez. Money would possibly be an issue and any further illegal approaches to RBL players would no doubt result in a complaint now.}

Klopp wants to replace Gomez Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - That has been the focus with the interest in other CBs.}

Must be because of his poor injury record I reckon Ed002?

Barry, that poor injury record issue lies with Konate and Upamecano as well. KLopp will do well to go after Schurrs if he is looking for an impeccable fitness history for a CB.

Indian buzzer - is this the same Perr Schurs who has onlly played 11 senior games in the dutch league for Ajax? You can hardly say he has an impeccable record if he’s only played a handful of games and is still a youngster.

Red Sandman.

Some on here would be mad to sign someone like Ben White Sandman who has how many senior top flight games to his name?

Joe Gomez had how many top flight games before he was signed?

A question for Ed002 if your available.

What do you think the impact is going to be for British clubs based on the new immigration rules introduced this week. In particular that they are banned from signing any under 18s and only 3 under 21s per window.

In theory it should promote more homegrown talent and prevent stockpiling at clubs but will it financially have a knock on from the way some clubs utilise their academies?

{Ed002's Note - That is why the English clubs pressed to sign 16 and 17 year old players in the summer as has been explained. The three "under 21" per window will have little or no impact, and the idea is to drive the English clubs to start looking for more English Club Developed and Home Grown players. So there is no big deal here beyond no longer being able to sign 16 and 17 year old players. The much bigger impact will come when they lower the number of non HG players allowed in the Premier League and introduced a Club Developed rule as UEFA have already done - that is where Liverpool will be hit, in the same way as they are already playing with a reduced CL squad due to poor squad management - and will have to do the same next season. It is those changes some clubs are fearing.}

We'll be grand, sure half our squad will have come through the academy again Klopp leaves. We'll have a team built around homegrowners in Trent, Joe, Neco, Curtis, Harvey and the likes of Koumetio and Kelleher over the next few years.
