Hi eds, do you think Jo from city would be an option for a 3rd striker? was brilliant for CSKA. He never plays at city and they will probably sell him in the summer. He is also still only 24. What do you think Eds? Cheers (please post in rumours) {Ed013's Note - No he has not proved himself in the prem with man city}

according to mirrorfootball (not sure on reliability) we have made aly cissohko our top defensive target. This is apparently because of Newcastles 15million valuation of Jose Enrique.

Hope this is true! He is much better than Jose Enrique. Probably 15-18 million for Cissohko but well worth it!

Sid Lowe (spanish pundit)made a very good statement on twitter he said he saw Xabi Torres Arbeloa Reina and (Mata) in the spanish camp the other day. Then he said it was what liverpool could have been. This then sent sparks flying on twitter when they saw Mata's name but he replied Mata to LFC I don't know yet. But not impossible. Oooh the teasing continues

04 Jun 2011 23:40:47
according to the sunday mirroe aly cissoko is our no.1 target for lb, let's bloody hope so and hope we can get him

Top class players that are emerging at the moment would be foolish not to consider joining LFC.
At the moment LFC have many problem areas that need filling which will give any young world class footballer first team football within the premier league along with the opportionity to play for one of best clubs in Europe.

Apparently Joe Cole is moving to Spurs in a £3 million move this week. If we can add Jovanovic, N'Gog, Poulson, Konchesky, Insua, Jones and Aquilani to that then that's half the battle.

Anyone know who's out of contract I'm thinking Degen, El Zhar, Kyri etc.

I think Maxi and Aurelio will stay, undecided on Ayala and Pacheco as I think it's make or break this season.

Liverpool outcast Joe Cole is heading to Tottenham in a £3m deal after a year of disappointment at Anfield.
Spurs will give him a full medical assessment this week before finalising the move after a season wrecked by injury and lack of form. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, who helped bring Cole through at West Ham, believes he can resurrect the career of the 29-year-old

Keisuke Honda is hardly falling over himself to get a move to Liverpool Football Club.

The Reds are said to be interested in the 23-year-old, as Kenny Dalglish aims to challenge for a place in the Premier League's top four next season.

However, Honda is happy to remain at CSKA Moscow for UEFA Champions League football next term, and even if he does leave, he would prefer a move to Spain.

"CSKA are playing Champions League football next season so staying is not a bad option, " the 25-year-old told Sankei Sports. "However, I do want to test myself at a higher level if the opportunity arises. My preference is still to play Spain."

Stoke have in fact enquired about n'gog. Now I know there is alot of haters out there for n'gog. But if you were to look at his goals for starts ratio it's not that bad for young striker. I think he will become a good striker but not at Liverpool. Also dose anybody the availabity of Ryan shawcross, he is very talented and established and could be fairly cheap.
Let me know your thoughts reds and Edds

I would be happy with us signing wickham, henderson, n'zogbia, phil jones, enrique, mata and maybe pushing it even with slim chances adam johnson.

I think that enrique and n'zogbia are both not good enough for Liverpool or any other top 10 team in the premier league. We need to aim much higher to compete for the top 6 or 7 let alone the top 4 next season.

04 Jun 2011 22:23:39
I hear that adam johnson is on his way to liverpool

I think keeping Aquaman would be brilliant as he is still relatively young and was then coming into form when he was loaned out and he would save us 15-20 mil. Do you think he could stay eds? cheers

04 Jun 2011 21:57:51
I've just had a mad text off of my brother in law, a regular sub, saying he's heard wispers around the training ground about andy carroll not happy at liverpool and wants to get back to his routes, possibly in swap for enrique? Also holding a medical for an unknown from the non league, supposedly the next messi.... remember the name paul nathen w, heard it here first!!

Ed just a quick question, if the rumours are true that barcelona representatives are talking with aguero because josep sees them as the strongest strike force in the world, with pedro in back-up, this leaves villa open, do u think liverpool would have a chance of getting him and bojan in a deal worth around 35 or 40 million?????????? Carrol villa and suarez would be deadly and then wickham and bojan as future strikers

cheers ur doin a great job
Tylerliverpool {Ed013's Note - No way villa would be part of the three up front if they signed aguero.}

04 Jun 2011 22:03:01
I would be happy with us signing wickham, henderson, n'zogbia, phil jones, enrique, mata and maybe pushing it even with slim chances adam johnson.

Ed's your thoughts? {Ed013's Note - The signings you suggested would be good yes but sorry to say adam johnson will not join but besides that i would be happy as well}

04 Jun 2011 22:02:52
Just read the post about downing signing in the next couple of weeks he will be i posted this myself weeks ago when i said i knew this the same as adam johnson going to city and torres going to chelsea rent boys before they happened

Ed2, didn't know you was a lady, so i'm sorry for the crude post before and to any other eds that are females or were offended in general.Also with Robbie Keane being the first player from Britain and Ireland and only the 13th european to score 50 internatatioal goals, if Liverpool could get him for 5mil or a wee bit less do you think he'd be worth a punt.Jonny Boy6 {Ed002's Note - I am guessing he is not on the cards.}

Liverpool are reportedly ready to offload high earners such as Joe Cole and Milan Jovanovic to reduce the wage bill ahead of new signings arriving at Anfield this summer

Jovanovic has failed to impress at the club since his arrival on a free transfer last summer and according to The Guardian will be shown the door this summer along with midfielder Cole, who also moved to Merseyside last year on a Bosman.

Jovanovic has been linked with a move to the Bundesliga, while Newcastle and QPR have been linked with a move for England international Cole in recent weeks.

The two are both earning £100,000-a-week at Anfield and are two of several players who can expect to be on the move in the coming weeks.

Full-back Paul Konchesky is also set to leave the club after being deemed a flop following his move from Fulham last summer, while Christian Poulsen and goalkeeper Brad Jones could reportedly also be sold.

In addition, Crunchsports understands striker David Ngog will also be let go should a suitable offer be made.

The future of midfielder Alberto Aquilani is also yet to be decided, with Juventus still to agree a fee for the Italy international and hoping to convince the Reds to lower their asking price for the former Roma player.

Liverpool are due to pay Roma the final £4.4m instalment of his £17m transfer fee at the end of this month.

04 Jun 2011 21:35:52
Ed, do you think the downing rumors are being blown out of proportion or that he is genuinely the top target for winger now along with mata? It seems like a major step down from looking at hazard to looking at downing {Ed002's Note - Putting aside "top target" he is one of numerous wingers being linked with little or no substantiation. There is probably interest.}

Windy but Sunny at IOM TT Today.

Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes - please all acknowledge one of the best written and well thought out posts I've ever seen in years on this site.

My favourite part is the stern and serious warning not to take it seriously from the the immediate reply.

Huge pat on the back for the Sheik Names - well done.

These are the posts we should all emulate rather than the usual bland no research pub talk AGUERO MATA MARIN HENDERSON HULK.

However whilst I continue to post I may as well give you my wish list to compete next year.

Roger Johnson - cheap 45 game a year centre half

Adam Johnson - quality

Clichy - not likely but quality - Baines won't sign and the Celtic lad is OK

Thats it no big spends - the cream of the academy have already played - Kelly is the real deal.

Back up striker not needed - Kuyt is the back up man to Lu & Andy.

Over and Out - Pat 'Cake

If Liverpool can't sort a deal for Henderson, they plan to bid for Marc Albrighton (12mil) as well as Stewart Downing (£14mil). Right and left wings will be sorted. Young likly to join Man U, Ferdinand all over him like flys to S@$£ whilst they been on England duty together.

I believe that Henderson and N'Zogbia are done deals. We all know do not believe it until the LFC.tv website officially announces it or BBC for that matter. But at this moment in time, I think these two deals are done. However we need a great squad if we are to challenge. Lets keep signing :)

FENWAY SPORTS GROUP of the USA are in advanced negotiations with Sheikh Mohammed bin al-Im Mintedla to form what would be one of the worlds wealthiest sporting conglomerates.

The deal is believed to cover baseball, soccer, motor racing, horse racing and Polo and would see both parties sharing lucrative global broadcasting and merchandising rights.

Bin al-Im Mintedla is the brother-in-law of Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr al Qasimi, emir of Ras al-Khaimah. The secretive sports fanatic, estimated to be worth $22bn through lucrative ringtone and cement-mixer businesses also owns the up-and-coming Mint-La-Mint (MLM) horse racing stable.

FSG, who purchased English soccer club Liverpool FC for $450M in Oct 2010, are believed to be eager to tap into the vast wealth of the Arab sports market and see a deal with the concrete mogul as an ideal way to cement such a move.

The multi billion dollar partnership could see as much as $500M released to FSG's Red Sox baseball franchise and a further $300M immediately pumped into LFC's transfer kitty, dwarfing anything their English rivals are likely to invest in new players this summer.

Sources close to negotiations said today the deal is likely to be concluded within the next 7 days, providing a timely boost to the plans of LFC manager Ken Dalglish to bolster his playing roster.

Representatives of MLM and FSG were unavailable for comment. A spokesman for Liverpool FC said "We dot not comment on rumour and speculation"

As a matter of interest ed, do you think LFC will sign Henderson or is there much competition right now?

liverpool have been linked with so many wide men this transfer window perroti, mata, n'zogbia, downing, ashley young, adam johnson, jordan henderson(cm, rm virtually bought) and sylvain marveux all very talented and young players however i feel that liverpol will have to sell maxi to bring maybe 2-3 wide men, an exceptional player who has been in my opinion one of our greatest players this season
however in saying that the 3 players i would like to be brought in are mata, a.young and adam johnson what do you think ED? {Ed002's Note - All are of course possible, but Young I think rather less possible than even Mata.}

Monaco striker Park Chu-Young is being chased by Liverpool and Bolton according to reports in France.
The 25-year-old said earlier this week that he was looking for a move away from Monaco after the club was relegated from Ligue 1.
L'Equipe has now reported Liverpool and Bolton are interested in the South Korea international, who scored 12 goals during the 2010-11 season for Monaco.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has reportedly been monitoring the former FC Seoul man's situation, while The Daily Mail claims Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has been scouting the Korean.
Park is believed to be keen on a move to England and said earlier this week he'd like a new challenge at a big club.
"I would like to have new challenge in a stronger team capable of competing in bigger Europe-wide tournaments like the Champions League, " said Park.
Park remains contracted with Monaco until mid-2013.

---------------------------------------------------

Park would be an excellent signing, and would love to see him at LFC next season. Should also look at Celtic's Ki Sung Yong, absolute quality. They would link up well, as they played together before at FC Seoul.

i am a 15 yr old normal geezer and i think realistic targets will be:
Juan mata:winger
enrique/juan vargas/baines
Conor Wickam/Bogan (loan)
Charlie Adam (but i want to see Ever Banega or Javi Martinez instead)
Enzogbia (whatever way his name is spelt)

{Ed002's Note - Looks good aside from Martinez who is, I am afraid, on the 0/10 list. But a question is there such a thing as a "normal" 15 year old?}

I have had some info not saying it is certain to happen but Henderson will most likely be signed by next Wednesday Liverpool and Henderson are keen for the deal to happen and Pearce has told both parties to try and sort the deal out by the under 21's hence Liverpool will bid around 15m for Henderson which Sunderland can't really refuse.

I hope FSG don't conglomerate with those Sheikhs. I'd rather us pay from our own back pocket than lose all soul and become another Man City. {Ed002's Note - But if Sheikh Yerbouti can bring much needed transfer funding, surely it has to be a good thing?}

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Man City winger Adam Johnson and will look to make an offer for the England international this summer. The former Middlesbrough wide man has had an up and down time at Eastlands and spent much of last season on the bench and has voiced his concern at lack of regular first team football and has locked horns with Roberto Mancini on the matter.
Dalglish is apparently keen to bring in natural wide options as he looks to bring in more creativity and players who can help provide ammunition for the club's new strike pairing of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. The Merseyside outfit have been strongly linked with a number of wingers with Aston Villa pair Stewart Downing and Ashley Young also apparent Anfield targets.
Johnson arrived at Man City on the 1st of February 2010 and whilst he made an immediate impact in his first season the Sunderland born winger made more appearances from the bench last term than starts and could be tempted by a move away from the City of Manchester Stadium in search of regular first team football.
Dalglish will however find it tough to persuade a player to leave a club who has just achieved qualification for the Champions League but if Johnson felt that he wasn't a firm part of Mancini's first team plans then the 23 year old may feel the time right to make a move.
Liverpool have attempted to fill the wide roles with players with players who are not really out and out wingers with the likes of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi, Joe Cole and Milan Jovanovic being used last season.

he's got about 2 seasons left tops i reckon, so a good quality CB is needed for the long term and i believe that Phil Jones is that man! quality player, got the same attributed as Carra and will be the ideal replacement. Future Captain for LFC!

Stoke boss Tony Pulis is thought to be considering a double move for Liverpool pair David Ngog and Christian Poulsen.

The duo are believed to be surplus to requirements at Anfield as Reds manager Kenny Dalglish looks to remodel his squad after being handed the reins at Anfield on a permanent basis.
Pulis is also understood to be interested in Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, while a fresh move for Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas is also likely.
The City boss expects plenty of movement from the Premier League's big clubs this summer and hopes to take advantage of their need to balance thrie books accordingly.
"I expect it to be a busy close-season, " said Pulis. "A lot of money will be spent at the top end of the market - not just Man City, as everyone expects, but also United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. I think they will all have a go.
"That either clogs up the market because unwanted players are sitting on big contracts that clubs like us will not pay, or hopefully it might free the market up if their clubs help out so we can do the deals."

We are looking into the possibility of signing Lee Chung-Yong from Bolton (their player of the year last season and the Northwest premier league player of the year, which a certain then goalscoring Spaniard was the previous award winner before him).

At 22, with not sky-high wage demands and transfer fees, he fits well into FSG transfer principles. Good with the ball at his feet, unselfish, hard worker, great crosser, Lee could really blossom under Kenny.

He also taps into the large Korean football crazy market as other unnamable teams have capitalized on, with huge sponsorship with the likes Kumho Tires. With Park Ji-Sung retiring from internationals the "blue dragon", is seen as the brightest star of Korean football at this time. There has been plenty of past interest, we have been looking at him since before the recent world cup.

If this is true and going ahead, and obviously the club have been vying for it for some time, it may explain why Liverpool are not afraid of meeting Agueros price or wages, and may also be part of the reason we can shop at the top?
I for one would be a big supporter of this move, it would make Liverpool a top club around asia/east big sports markets to be tapped.

Ed do you think there is any possibility of Liverpool signing Milner. I heard that he was unhappy at Man City. But he may want to stay for the Champions League. He could do a good job on the wing, he's good at crossing and is only 25. He could be a decent signing

N.I Red {Ed002's Note - It seems doubtful given the interest in other players.}

Eds, do you know how long Alonso's contract at Real is? I can definitely imagine him coming back to us on a free at the end of it, but I can't see us dropping, what, £20m(?) on a 29-year-old, even if that 29-year-old is Alonso (whom I'd love to have back).

Also...can we please put a stop to adding "WATCH THIS SPACE!" on to the ends of posts? Does anybody seriously think that makes anything more interesting/believable? {Ed002's Note - Alonso's contract has another three years to run.}

I think this is good business - Henderson has shown lots of promise this year in the premier league and is still only 20.

I posted that... and whilst I think lucas is a hard worker, he dosen't give anything to the team, no goals, he only passes sideways or backwards, he slows the play down and he isn't the quickest. Him getting player of the season is a bit of a joke to be honest. It should have been Kuyt...
===========================
Shows how much you know lad...the vast majority of people, many who never liked him before, all agreed he was the most consistent player of the year. I could write a few pages of examples to prove how wrong you are with comments like "only passing sideways or backwards" but I guess you really don't watch the games. If you did you would see how he dominated teams like Chelsea and Man U, with his positional play, interceptions, amount of ground he covered, many excellent dfensive and midfield headers to win the ball back etc etc. And don't get me started on who won both the free kick and the subsequent penalty deep in extra time to get the draw against Arsenal.

I'm not so sure that young Henderson will sign, for the same reason that Hazard won't join us. Didn't he say that his dream move would be United?
If me's remember well, the lad spoke glowingly of Scholes (or was it Giggs?) and how he'd relish the opportunity of working with him, his boyhood hero.

So taking this into account, United's documented interest in the player and the "Bruce" factor, I think it likely that the player will knock back our advances (and possibly City's) and stay at Sumderland before making his "dream" move.

But hey, anything's possible. Better still, I might be talking complete bollocks here and young Henderson maybe said nothing about United being his "dream".

What's your take here? Aren't we in for another Eden Hazard situation?

Ed, do you think we could be seeing Vargas in a red shirt next season?? If so (fingers crossed) do you think he would be deployed as a LB, LW or a mixture of both?? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - Quite possibly there has been confirmed interest. Vargas is different from the other left sided players being looked at as he is a proper wing wing back with a very good goalscoring record - although many come from free kicks. His crossing is excellent (Le Saux at his best) and Fiorentina accept he will leave. Arsenal, Manchester City, Benfica, Bayern Munich and Zenit St Petersburg have also shown an interest. Will not be cheap.}

Burnsy {Ed002's Note - Perotti is a right winger and there is interest in him and Mata. As for the others, a glance down the page will no doubt make you most happy with all of the chit-chat.}

Ed is their any interest in Henriksen from Rosenberg? Hes a quality 18 year old norweigen centre midfielder who would cost less than any of the players linked with us.

What do you think? Do you rate him? {Ed002's Note - Please could everyone stop writing "do you rate him" against random lists of players found on YouTube and Footall 2001 or whatever. I shall say that there is no interest.}

LEFTBACK UPDATE:

Fabio Aurellio is a target for Fulham and Newcatle, Paul Konchesky to join QPR for £2mil.

Insua looks set to return for pre season. If he can impress KK he will challenge Robinson for leftback spot. Clichy, Enrique are reported targets although It's believed Kenny has got an ace up his sleeve.

On 4th June 2011, Henderson made a reported £15 million switch to Liverpool on 5 year deal . He is now offically a Liverpool player and will be wearing the number 10 shirt. WIKIPEDIA {Ed002's Note - Yep, just awaiting teh confirmation on Twitter.}

How about young Ghanan right back Sam Inkoom from Dnipro? Looks like he will be a excellent player in a couple of years. I know a right back is not a neccassity at the moment but always good to bolster the squad? {Ed002's Note - So sell Kelly or Flanagan?}

04 Jun 2011 15:53:11
Ed 2 how many of these club rumour sites do u edit? And just out of interest, who do u support? Lol {Ed002's Note - A couple of Editors can edit all of the sites, a couple just do specific sites and some are kept away from rival team sites. I tend to do most but avoid the Scottish sites and much to do with lower tier teams as I will not have information available for teh sides. I am "nominally" a Chelsea supporter from when I lived in Chelsea when I was at University in London at one time.}

Well wht was the price on Honda in jan? Is he played as a winger aye? {Ed002's Note - About £8M-£10M would have been enough. And he can play as a winger, attacking midfield or striker.}

15 mil is very cheap for higuain so I think we should definately go for him as he is still very young.
30 mil for Alonso and Higuain. {Ed002's Note - Not a chance that Higuain will be sold for anything like that amount.}

Ed 002 fully agree with you.

04 Jun 2011 15:47:31
Hi Ed,
Just heard that Pedro Leon is no longer wanted at Real Madrid. Do you think Liverpool should and would go for him? Thanks!! {Ed002's Note - There are only a finite number of wingers in the world but even then Liverpool cannot look at them all. It is impossible to answer I am afraid.}

04 Jun 2011 15:47:27
allegedly, lfc officials are set to meet up with sergio aguero's representatives at the end of june.
after hearing of lfcs project, mata is keen on a move to anfield, and a package is being prepared for him.
also lfc do not plan on signing anyone over the age of 25 as they would like to have a resale value on players when their contrats are up.

04 Jun 2011 15:46:00
The only players who i can see joining us realistically buying are Downing, Phil Jones, Wickham, Mata and enrique.

I have no idea how much all of these would cost, but with the likes of Aquilani, Jovanovic, Poulsen, Degen and other dead wood departing, im sure we well get about 20-25million for these.

Could be an interesting window for the reds! YNWA! Pete

04 Jun 2011 15:45:58
Can i just say Some of the signing being touted by press are just not true! The likes of Henderson, Enrique, Dann, Barton, Downing! And i can tell you why for one simple reason!
When Pepe reina spoke to the press he said he never wanted to leave and after seeing what kind of summer is install for the Club he can see we are going in the right direction!! Now ask yourselves would these players be enough for Reina to say YES THEY ARE THE PLAYERS FOR LFC.....

04 Jun 2011 15:45:36
Seriously, where will Aguero go because he won't go to Real because Athletico will refuse, Chelsea have too many strikers, Utd are keeping Berbatov and Owen, no interst from Italy and Barcelona dont want him.

Liverpool? Why not ED, he hasn't got many other options...

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are looking to refresh their strikers so I would not rule them out entirely. However, both Chelsea and Manchester United failed to put a package together that was acceptable to the player after discussions with his representatives. Juventus then spent two days with his representatives and whilst we don't know whether they came up with the right package for the player, but they did make an offer to negotiate a fee with Atletico Madrid, but that was rejected. I don't see Chelsea going back with another package for the player just yet. I would not yet entirely rule out Real Madrid regardless of what has been said. Again I am not so sure Manchester United have completely removed themselves from the equation after failing, like Chelsea, to put an acceptable package together for the player. Now we have Aguero and his representatives trying to get Roma and Bayern Munich to make a bid. As we stand right now Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool are out of the loop. If they wish to get involved they know what they will need to do but I would suspect there is only the slimmest of chances of him moving to Anfield. It is all about money.}
----------------------------------------------------------

Interesting stuff Ed, so you think Aguero would move to a club without CL football if the money is right? If so, why is he so desperate to leave Athletico?

By the way, I don't want Liverpool to spend a fortune on another striker when there are more pressing problems.

Kop Chris

{Ed002's Note - I think it has simply come a time to move on and try something else. Money seems to be a much bigger issue than anything else.}

04 Jun 2011 15:41:45
Ed what is the latest on Marveaux?
cheers great site! {Ed002's Note - He will most likely join on July 1.}

04 Jun 2011 15:39:39
Everyone's talking about Jordan Henderson coming to us... but where would he fit in? Right mid is covered by Kuyt and the middle is covered by Gerrard and (as much as I hate to say it) Lucas.

Also, I think we should drop Lucas and start looking at a top DM. Scott Parker would be perfect, maybe Lass Diarra, maybe Fernando Gago.
________________________________

When was the last time you watched a liverpool match? Lucas was voted our player of the year and there is a reason he was outstanding last year.

I posted that... and whilst I think lucas is a hard worker, he dosen't give anything to the team, no goals, he only passes sideways or backwards, he slows the play down and he isn't the quickest. Him getting player of the season is a bit of a joke to be honest. It should have been Kuyt...

04 Jun 2011 15:38:09
Neymar to Liverpool??? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

04 Jun 2011 15:37:56
Ed, I believe we need to get Downing as he is a proper winger who will get crosses to Carroll, which will get him playing to his best. I believe Henderson isnt good enough to take gerrard/luacs place, but we should buy adam as he is an inspirational player. My XI next season
Reina

Johnson
Carra
Agger/Skrtel
Flanagan

Kuyt
Gerrard
Adam
Downing

Suarez
Carroll

04 Jun 2011 15:37:35
ED, What would you say the chance of downing signing? I don't think he is good enough and plus he is nearly 27 and goes against who FSG said they would buy {Ed002's Note - 4/10.}

04 Jun 2011 15:29:43

had a conversation yesterday with a friend who is always got good gossip on liverpool. apparently the FSG are planning to spend massive this summer to get us into CL and be set with a team for years to come so that plans for the stadium can be focused on meaning when spending less on quantity and more on quality each season as we are near to spending within our means rules. then when new stadium or redeveloped stadium is complete we will have all the attributes of a serious modern day elite club for decades to come. well thats what he told me sounds nice just thought ad share his rumour with you. any views on this ed do u see this as something like could be happening with our club would appreciate your views. redman

Unbelievable we didn't get him! Also, not a Liverpool rumour, but does anyone know the latest in Sanchez? I read he was set to snub city and Milan for barca? If he goes to barca, does this mean city will turn to mata?

04 Jun 2011 15:05:42
Cant belive we would put a bid of 16mil in for Charles Insomnia.Not saying he's a bad player by any means, but he's only got a year left on his contract and i dont care what anyone says he's not as good as Young who's price had been banded about at 15mil who's in the same position contract wise.If we are to belive that Marveax is more or less a done deal, we are looking good, not a dead cert by any means.but there is a realistic chance of Mata signing, i'd take Downing all day over him Mr Insomnia not to mention Perroti and Vargas who can play wide left if need be.Hopefully Mr Insomnia might read this and take offence that someones said his name wrong again and rule us out completley.Sorry for being crass but he's not Liverpool material in my opinion.Please ed2 i value your opinion so would you give the players mentioned marks out me ten for the chance of them joining us.Thanks. Johnny Boy6

Ed do you think Alonso will ever play for Liverpool again? A simple yes or no answer would be fine! Cheers, {Ed002's Note - Better than yes or no, perhaps. See earlier replies for details.}

04 Jun 2011 15:02:34
Our backup goal kipper will be Nikolai Mihaylov( Bulgaria)He was recently quoted saying that Liverpool now have retained an option to buy him back from Twente as he has played enough games for his native country's national team to qualify for a work permit.He also played in the Champions League and was voted top 3 foreign players in Dutch football

04 Jun 2011 15:01:24
I think we should go for Affellay from barcelona, 9-11 million or possibly a season loan. Hes young, has bags of energy, speed and strength and would provide good balance with say Downing (looking the most likely) adding the other width on the left with his balls into the box.

04 Jun 2011 14:56:35

We don't need Adam, M'Villa etc because we've already got a playmaker (Stevie G.)

Ed I think people realise that we are building a team and so we will be buying new exciting players every transfer window. Do you think it's more likely to return for Honda next jan when Russian season is over? Or is it likely we might make a bid this window? {Ed002's Note - I guess a better question would eb why did Liverpool not grab him cheaply in January when he was available?}

04 Jun 2011 14:36:11
Ed is there any chance that we will reignite our interest in Afelley from Barca now that they seem to have agreed a deal for Sanchez with Jeffren Suarez going the other way to Udinese?

Supposedly a 8 million bid for Conor Wickham has been made. Also a bid in the region of 12-15 million has been made for Charles Nzogbia and an increased bid to 15-16 million for Jordan Henderson has been made. Henderson reportedly wants to wrap up a move to liverpool by no later than Wednesday.

Ed, do you know of any interest from clubs wanting to take Danny Wilson on loan? I'd like him to go to Bolton as Cahill looks to be leaving and they worked wonders with Wilshere and Sturridge. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Bolton replaced Cahill when they bought Wheater so I guess not there. It'll be a while before loans are discussed - so I would put it out of you mind until perhaps the sart of August.}

RE. New name???? Ryad boudebouz plays in France, never heard of him
Jordlfc {Ed002's Note - He plays for Sochaux. St-Etienne want the player to replace Dmitri Payet and Marseille are showing strong interest. Any interest listed from Spurs and Liverpool is likely from last year and perhaps exagerated at this time in an effort being made to beef up his price.}

I believe Adam Johnson could be a great signing..young, fast and English..he is what we are looking for. Reports show that he is tired of being a bit-part player at Man City and may be looking for a move. I reckon 15-20mil would secure him. What are the chances of this happening? And what are the chances of Mata coming? Brilliant site..keep it up! Also expect Xabi Alonso to return, I've got high hopes!

Quick question to the eds, with Aquilani's final instalment now due, was wondering whether most of our deals are done in instalments? Did we pay £35m and£23m for Carroll and Suarez or have we got an instalment payment in place? {Ed002's Note - No the rules have changed since then and payment needs to be cleared in the same season or within one year if bought in January. There are exceptions but I would need to look them up. There is a final transfer payment of 5M euros due to Roma this month and there are some odd performance related clauses that Liverpool are still trying to have put aside. There may, therefore, be a small additional payment to be made.}

Alright Ed,
Just a thought, but isnt it more than likely that with Gerrard's injury ravaged season, could Henderson be a long term replacement to Gerrard?
Also although I admire Gerrard greatly, he hasnt performed as strongly as he might in the past few seasons, and the injuries have been increasing.
Do you think we'll get Henderson?
Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Well, perhaps. We do know that the club have considered the long-term view. As for whether or not Henderson will arrive, I really can't say beyond guessing.}

04 Jun 2011 11:49:58
Morning Ed's

Do you know of any negotiations over Young?

It seems very strange to me that Henderson , Mata , Marveux, Mcarthy, are the wing players we seem to be going after.Im not so certain we really want Young.

I still think we will offload a number of high profile people.

Jones (due to family issues)
Jovanavich (not performed massive wages)
Cole (same as above)
Ngog (nice lad tries hard , will not make top grade)
Aquilani (Good Player but does not suit english game, should have learnt from Dossena signing)
Deggen (Same as Ngog)
Insua (same as Ngog)

I would be elated if we managed to get 20 mill for these.If they do go I wish them all luck in their futures.

I understand that we are interested in a few left backs, firstly Jose Enrique and an 8million bid has supposedly been made, there is also the celtic left back izaguirre and more recently jose angel among others.
Ed what I would like to know is the likelihood out of 10 for those 3, thanks {Ed002's Note - I understand thae bid for Enrique was around £4M. 6, 4, 1}

People are talking about Contreao and Enrique and Izagiurre for LB position.

But what's wrong with someone like Stephen Warnock? Solid, looking for a move and ex scouser. Besides Johnson did fine at LB last season
Wouldn't cost more than £4m either.... ED your thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - Firstly, I am pretty sure you do not become an ex-scouser following a transfer. We know a bid has been made and rejected for Enrique so there is certainly an interest there. We don't know if an improved bid will be made or if attentions will move to Izagiurre, for example. There has been interest in Vargas as well - but he is not strictly a left back. Coentrao is not an option. I suspect that there is no interest in Warnock at this time.}

It seems a few people think that its either Enrique or Izaguaire for our left back spot.Does this mean we've ended our interest in Vargas.Those 2 might help us be decent cheap players who can do a job in the prem, but Vargas can do a bit of magic that can help us win a tight game.Be it a free kick or perfect cross or a 30 yard screamer, and he can defend or wouldn't be playin in the most boring defensive league out of the main leagues in europe.Have we ended our interest in him because i'd be gutted if Enrique signs, slighlty less with the Celtic lad because he gets into some great positions but final ball is poor.We seem have alerted a few clubs to our targets this season that might back fire on us with then not signing, hope i dont see Vargas plying his trade for someone else in the prem in the upcoming season, i'd love to see Mata plying his trade in front of Vargas the coming season. 04 Jun 2011 11:16:24
Can i just say i can see us getting ripped off i mean wickham is not worth 10 million, Henderson is not worth 15-20 million, Downing is average at best and no way worth 16 million, McCarthy 10 million i mean some of these players might have had 1 good season i would prefer to get players from abroad instead of paying silly money for players who have proved nothing we paid 15 million too much for Carroll just because his english

04 Jun 2011 11:07:07
LFC do no longer want Cattermole or Barton. They want Henderson deal done my Wednesday and are inquiring about N'Zogbia. Mata is at a decent stage in which the fee I have been told is nearly agreed. Finally LFC don't want/need augero! We will bid 8m for Wickham within the next couple of days!

Once again can't reveal the source as theyed be in deep s**t!

Great site eds!

are liverpool still interested over the Portuguese LB Contrao ? and do you think he is the best option to persue. {Ed002's Note - There has never been any contact, deal or anything else between Liverpool and Coentrao.}

04 Jun 2011 11:05:28
Xabi Alonso is rejoining Liverpool on a 3 year deal this summer. I know one of the video editors who did the interview airing on LFC.tv Sunday and Xabi will announce his return at the end. They're making it a big event to get the feel good factor rolling for summer. Once Pepe found out that we were re-signing Alonso & trying to sign Mata, he committed to the club.

Just read about this in Marca !!

New name???? Ryad boudebouz plays in France, never heard of him
Jordlfc {Ed002's Note - He plays for Sochaux. St-Etienne want the player to replace Dmitri Payet and Marseille are showing strong interest. Any interest listed from Spurs and Liverpool is likely from last year and perhaps exagerated at this time in an effort being made to beef up his price.}

04 Jun 2011 10:52:02
Hi eds I'm wondering if any of you know the situation with Hatem Ben-Arfa , has he recovered from his injury? I know he is a bit of a loose cannon but he did look very useful in the games he did play for Newcastle! Are they looking to keep him? I think under Kenny he could be a good acquisition! {Ed002's Note - He is fit now but I really don't think that Newcastle would be looking to sell Ben Arfa.}

Liverpool have offered £8m for 18-year-old Ipswich striker Connor Wickham but the East Anglian side are holding out for £10m.

Liverpool are lining up Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia, as they fear they have lost out to Manchester United for Aston Villa's Ashley Young.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has reminded all the Premier League's managerless clubs - Aston Villa, Fulham and Chelsea - that he is ready for another challenge in England.

04 Jun 2011 09:33:58
My point yesterday ed is that every1 found out the day it was confirmed, nothing in the paper about it, jjust straight out of the blue, this is why i sed to expect more surprises. Anyway i have recieved info today that we want to agree deal with celtic for izzaguirre to join on 1st july. All british deals want to be done quickly for us. Phil Jones, Henderson, Young/downing to arrive before international window opens. Izzaguirre on the 1st. Then theres two months to sign Striker and Mata. This is my information from a football agent.

Wayne Routledge is a target for
Liverpool and the player is said to be extremely keen to join.

its looking lively now ed and are transfer targets are slowly coming out .

with friedle going to tottenham sure liverpool are still looking to get a cheap back up keeper to reina next year as jones i fill is going and gulacsi has been told he can go on loan next year.

enrique is all but done as he wants to stay in england and we are the only club here to make a formal bid.

jones is a 2 in one player like coady can cover c.b and defensive midfield can we get him from arsenals clutch we will see

henderson is a big target now we have offered 13 million sunderland want 18-20 mill liverpool have gone back in with a 15 million offer but one sticking point might be man utd wanted him bruce is an old boy and sunderland want brown and gibson from united might have to move fast on this one.

mata this one might go either way there is competition but mata was quoted as saying he is an admirer of the vision for the future we are showing lets hope we get him

wickham the ipswich lad a liverpool supporter is one for the next few years but liverpool have offered 8 million for him and to be honest forget the rumours i dont see a big name striker arriving carroll will play as are only striker next year with players coming on to him if he gets injured suarez/kuyt or new boys mata and wickham can play there

marvereux many expected this guy to be snapped up all ready but i still believe he will be here next year good cover for left or right side

adam think liverpool will go back in for him as kenny likes his passing game blackpool will sell but liverpool will want to get other deals done quietly as blackpool will surely play hard ball

if there is 1 player on here not mentioned its simon kjare think liverpool should go for him as he is great defender and all ready a great international partner with agger

when you look at the obvious squad trimming this summer.

degan/kyriagos/koncheskey/jovanavic/poulsen/aqualani

the ones that might stay or go

jones/darby/aurellio/insua/cole/rodriguez/ngog

and the young pretenders

flanaghan/wilson/ayala/wisdom/robinson/shelvey/coady/
sterling/spearing/ngo/morgan/suso

its looking rosie again
can i have a reply ed on your view of potential targets {Ed002's Note - Aside from the midfield "targets" which I am not so clear about, I don't see Kjaer going anywhere but back to Italy or moving to another side in Germany. There is no interest in him from Liverpool at this time.}

04 Jun 2011 08:46:52
Daniel Sturridge to sign ... watch this space :)

morning ed
will we get these players

adam downing. henderson, mata, dann, jones,

and why are we after so many midfilders when we have lucas, gerrerd, shelvey merilles.spearing.

thankyou ed

chriisy {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers. These players are discussed ad nauseum and I am afraid that you need to read the Rumours.}

04 Jun 2011 08:08:40
Jordan Henderson deal will be completed by Wednesday, as he dosen't want to take the pressure into the Under21's. Fee of around 15m.

Matt Wollacott.

04 Jun 2011 08:07:39
Hey Ed, I hear a former liverpool player is about to join us in a coaching role.. Do you know who it is?
I've narrowed it down to Hamman, Ince, Hypia but I could be wrong. Maybe it's Barnes, eitherway he's deffo joining up when he gets back from hols {Ed002's Note - Speculation was Fowler as you would have noticed reading through the Rumours.}

04 Jun 2011 08:03:12
So it looks like we are gonna be signing:

Juan Mata
Jordan Henderson
Phil Jones
Leighton Baines
Charlie Adam
Stewart Downing
Jame McCarthy
Connor Wickham

Possibly, and I mean possibly Sergio Aguero.

**
Not sure about all your names here Thommo. Way I read it is that marquee signing is Mata with Enrique the most likely arrival at left-back once we know we can't sign top target Coentrao. N'Zogbia and Henderson complete the signings in areas we need to cover as a priority and depending on sales McCarthy, Jones and Wickham are "the future" signings.

Juan Mata (Stewart Downing) £20m (£16m)
Fabio Coentrao (Jose Enrique) £20m (£10m)
Charles N'Zogbia (£14m)
Jordan Henderson (£15m)
Phil Jones (£15m)
James McCarthy (£10m)
Connor Wickham (£10m)

I reckon net spend will be around £70m but with these signings the owners know that in the future it'll only need one big signing each summer as the club will be covered for many years to come.

04 Jun 2011 07:48:25
LFC to bid up to £10M for Wickham
Henderson deal done by Wed £15M
we hope to beat Arsenal to sign Jones
Zog to replace Young on Kennys list
all deals to be done this week
Kenny will then turn his attention to Spain as he looks to bring in 3 STAR PLAYERS
and that is why PEPE is so happy

04 Jun 2011 05:09:26
Alonso will be back at theart of Midfiield next season alongside Gerrard. As we know Alonso didn't leave on the "best of terms", but we all know he still loves Liverpool.

Didn't he attend a few of our matches this season?

I think it's funny all this talk of KK bringing in an "old face". And that Alonso has been on the LFC website quite a bit recently.

And with all the nonsense talk of "Gerrard off to Madrid, get to the bookies quick"; it makes me think someone knows something, and is creating a smoke screen...while at the same time blatantly pointing us at the pontential "Old Face".

Kenny is smart. He knows what liverpool are missing. He probably knew a month our 2 after we kicked off our 09/10 season. If Kenny made an offer to Madrid, Do you think Alonso would agree terms? Even for a lower wage? I Do. I think he's one of those players who rathers more about football.

I can just see him sending a defence splitting ground pass in to the feet of Suarez now.

{Ed002's Note - I think it is perfectly possible that Alonso could return at some point, but I am not so sure it will be this summer.}

04 Jun 2011 04:14:50
Mata likes what LFC is trying to do and would like to join the club. But, nothing will be negotiated until the end of the U-21 tournament, and other clubs could show interest and affect his decision.

LFC are also interested in Downing and Henderson. Both deals are in progress, but no bid has been made yet, talks are ongoing though.

Kenny is very, very keen on Baines and has discussed this with Commoli, but Everton are refusing to even talk with Commoli. Expect a big offer, as Kenny wants him very badly. Unless Manchester City tables a bid larger than us, expect him to come as Baines would prefer to come to us because he knows he would be first choice. The deal with Enrique is in place and ready to go but both sides are looking for better options, Newcastle wants more money and LFC want a better player, but would settle for Enrique.

I know that this part of what I am saying is a bit ridiculous as I personally don't think we have any chance of getting him, but meetings with Aguero are scheduled for later this month. This absolutely does not mean that he is coming, but they will talk.

LFC are also interested in Wickham and are tabling a bid worth just south of 8m. This was reported in the Times by Tony Barret.

Kenny and Commoli are also looking at bringing in Phil Jones, who is liked by both of them. It would take anywhere from 12-15m to land him though.

Lastly, Adam is ours if we want him for 7m. I personally don't rate him too highly though, he needs a better work rate if he expects to break into our first team.

More updates soon,

Greg.

04 Jun 2011 04:04:53
Ed. Do you know if there is still interest in PSV winger
Balazs Dzsudzsak? {Ed002's Note - Probably not. Liverpool, CSKA, Juventus, Villareal, Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa, Schalke and Lyon have shown varying degrees of interest but Dzsudzsak says he wants to play for one of the major teams in La Liga or Russia and may still stay at PSV; if not maybe Italy or Russia with both Rubin Kazan and Anzhi Makhachkala willing to make a very attractive offer.}

04 Jun 2011 00:22:14
I've heard that we are in negotiations with Chelsea as they still owe 35m of the FT money, we are looking at Drogba or possibly Anelka ! Could be the old face that KK was refering to !

---------------------------------------------------

Not 100% but i believed we got the whole 50mil 'up front' for torres ( seems like a great deal now!). Not sure as I know most deals are worked out on an 'installment plan' basis, but i thought this was money up front or no deal type thing. Also was Anekla not offered as part of the package at the start ( torres = Anekla + 35mil odd) was the numbers being bandied about then, so I can't see why we'd be after them now. I've no inside info just adding 2 + 2 together and hoping it comes out to 4.

all this talk about Mata's release fee being 100million euros or whatever, doesn't really apply. correct me if i'm wrong but it is part of spanish law that relates to freedom of contractual obligations ie, if Real or Barca were desperate to buy Mata they could offer the full asking price and he's then able to move. In this instance Valencia want to move the player on and he wants to move on, every Spanish player in La Liga is subject to a ridiculous release fee, truth be known, they are very rarely triggered and not worth the paper they are written on 99% of the time. Aguero i'm quite positive had his release fee reduced with his new contract, and if his release clause is triggered, (no substantial evidence to prove otherwise) he would be free to move to Real or whoever. Thats my understanding of it, they are a complete waste of time. Rob Smith

04 Jun 2011 01:47:36
More talks been held with Mata, he likes the project LFC are determined on undertaking, slowly but surely we're getting there.

Bit confused on whats going to happen with some of our central midfielders though if we sign Henderson, even though he's improved I have a sneaking feeling that Lucas could be sold, but now i'll probably get abuse for saying that from 'fans' that used to grill the lad.

Sorry it was Tevez whose contents of his house are on his way to Argentina in a container as i failed to mention in my previous post.Ed If he leaves City which looks likely from whats happened this morning, his house getting cleared out do you think it would have a knock on effect on our future transfer targets ala Mata.Johnny Boy6 {Ed013's Note - no as they would look for a striker. Also his agent said he does not if he is leaving ye the is going to relocate in Manchester and see if his family settles}

Ed

do you think :

downing
henderson
enrique
phil jones

have got what it takes to be good players because I think they are terrible and very little potential of becoming a football star {Ed013's Note - Henderson and jones have great potential. enrique is good going foward but suspect defending and downing i believe would be good at us}

aguero
sakho
cissokho

cheers for the quick reply, ant {Ed013's note - this does suggest they are willing to spend I hope they do not just spend money on young British talent and bring in some overseas players like mata}

i like to think as myself as a down to earth liverpool fan ed, never got carried away with the rumours of aguero etc, but this does look like we are goin to spend and hopefully mata is one of the first in cos thats one thing we have missed for many a year now is genuine wide men, hopefully this is the start of somethin big, cheers for the site eds absolutely brilliant

eds iv just heard that we have had a bid of 8 milliom turned down for connor wickham, is it me or is this a lot of money for such a young unproven player, i have also heard that ipswich want closer to 15 million, surely there is some better talent out there for 15 million, negredo?? higuain?? any thoughts ed? {Ed013's Note - I agree but it is about looking towards the future as well and owners want to build the squad with young and British signings. I do believe there is better out there but he would be a good addition as long as he was not one of our main targets}

dont get me wrong ed i wudnt mind him in are squad, but 10-15 million is a lot of money to spend on a young sqaud player dont you think, does this indicate that we have a lot more money than we thought??

N'zogbia has been a good performer in the premier league for many seasons. He is also still relatively young because he broke into the Newcastle first team at a young age.
He would be a decent player to sign and would provide ideal competition to other wingers that may join LFC in the future.
