OK, the Gerrard to Rangers announcement didn't go ahead as I was lead to believe it was about to last week.

BUT. You can now expect it in the next 24 hours otherwise I'll burn my trousers.

3 Year deal. Shook hands on it in London yesterday. Takes over in the Summer.

He can't lose. If it bombs then rangers can be blamed for being a basket case, if he succeeds then he gets the plaudits.

At least he'll know deep down if he's got what it takes to cut it.

How to get half of Scotland hating you in one move.
If he sees out three years, I'll burn my trousers!

Think it could be a good learning experience for him. Would you rather he stayed sheltered in youth football or a safe job? he's taken on a very big and difficult challenge just like he used to do on the pitch for us. Even if its a failure its good for his experience, and he will learn very important lessons for the future. Like him or not one thing we can't take from him, is that he is a brave man and a leader. Good luck Stevie and fair play for not choosing the easier path.

Lots of hate, seems typical of the internet. don't know what gerrard did with wife's of ya lot. but i wish him all the luck if he is going to rangers. was my captain and favorite player for almost a decade till the likes of torres, kuyt and now firmino came over.

I'm a rangers fan and it's the best thing to happen to scottish football for years. I don't think you realise the size of rangers and what it means to hundreds of thousands of people. It's more than a club it's an institution and if he is successful it will only mean great things for both Liverpool and rangers. We get back on the top where we belong and Liverpool get a manager who has experienced the pressure of a big club. The demands of fans. Both clubs its a no Brainer.

No disrespect meant to Rangers or Gerrard from me.
It is a massive club but is it too big a job for a total rookie?

Juicer at this time ANY appointment would be a risk. However if reports are true that we enquired about Dyche and we’re told we’d have to pay a 4 million to get him then that type of manager is way out our league. Then we go to guys like Alex Neil who are ok managers but may not have the clout to get players we need at this moment to even get close to Celtic. Step in Gerrard. One of thee best midfielders on these shores who has had to get a humph surgically removed from his back he carried Liverpool that long. Has played under some of the best coaches, and it’s not exactly La Liga he is going to! He will do ok and as long as leaves us at least challenging for leagues and cups, that’ll do for me,

Couldn't give a toss about Gerrard? Were you saying that when we won the Champions League and all the other trophies he majorly contributed towards? And if he ever becomes manager of LFC, please don't support us.

Reading some of these comments it is no wonder that many footballers don't really care about the clubs that they play for. Why would they when you can play over 700 games for a club and the fans will cheer for you when you are playing and then 'not give a toss' when you are retired. Pathetic.

Just like Barcelona was too big for Pep when he took over there and look what happened.
Give him a chance he’s obviously willing to put himself out there and fair play to him. He never hid as a player and it looks like he’s carrying that on as a manager.

04 May 2018 23:17:21
Its the perfect job for him to cut his teeth in my opinion, good luck to him, he will always be an LFC legend, has already brought the SPL some much needed good positive PR, hats off to him, he's picked a good solid No.2 in McAllister and i reckon they'll do well.

You would have been better off with Alex Neil, he’s a good young manager with a good proven track record.
I for one hope Gerrard does well and has a good managerial career as he’s a Liverpool legen but I’m not sure he will, he lead by example as a player and I’m not sure his character is strong enough to be a manager, like I said though I hope I’m wrong.

Interesting point rangers DOF made yesterday about SGs reputation in asia. This could be a real commercial bonus for rangers if they get it right. A whole new audience opened up as a result of SG being there.

God knows they need the money. Not just rangers but Scottish football in general.

I don't usually post on other teams sites but it can be interestig to catch the thougts of other fans. I can't stand gerrard (as a blue) but some attitudes towards him from you lot are disgustingly bad. Yous should care about Gerrard he's an absolte legend for you. Every club has those fickle horrible fans though. Rats.

Ed1 except for Danny Ceballos what other midfielders we looking at?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we did look at Jorginho, Seri, Weigl, Torreira and Lo Celso off the top of my head.}

04 May 2018 05:21:25
Out the names you mentioned in your opinion who would suit are style of play the best?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no idea, only seen 2 of them play and I would not touch either of those from what I saw.}

Would Brandt still be an option as he was number one target last summer, or has this interest gone now? Also is Lemar now not under consideration?

Seems the reports today will be focused on Pulisic

Cheers.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 May 2018 08:48:45
Brandt just signed a new bumper deal with Leverkusen!
Lemar has been a shadow of the player he looked last season, no one will pay the 100 million € monaco are dreaming of. He plays in one of the weakest leagues where many many top players has flopped drastically in better leagues.

Agree4 Disagree1

04 May 2018 09:06:59
Think Ed001 may be talking about Seri and Weigl who he may not be impressed with. Seri is just awful and WEigl has quality but is having a poor season.
On the other hand, I trust Klopp if he sees Ceballos as a DLP. The kid has a good passing range and shows passion and grit on the pitch.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - Seri and Jorginho I was referring to.}

04 May 2018 09:23:34
ED1 please don't tease me with the mention of Weigl. I would run stark naked from London up to Liverpool if he signed.

Agree3 Disagree1

04 May 2018 09:47:14
I'd love Weigl at Liverpool but I think he's moving elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2018 11:27:00
Hmm I’m not sure Weigl is better than Henderson.

Both very good at keeping the midfield ticking over but I think we need someone a bit more positionally astute and defensively sound. I don’t think we have that option in our squad right now.

Toerreira of Sampdoria would be my pick for that reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2018 12:16:33
Navy Keith, don't want to compare Weigl to Henderson. I appreciate Henderson and what he brings to the team as well as his leadership. Weigl reminds me of Alonso, not saying he is the same quality as there will only be one Alonso just he plays in a similar mould and that's a compliment in itself, plus he is only 22 years old.

Ed1 if you're is it true he is destined for Man City? and do we have any chance of landing him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - who? Jorginho is the one set for City.}

04 May 2018 12:50:50
Torriera is moving to Napoli for 32 million.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 May 2018 12:49:25
Ed1 thought I read somewhere Weigl is more or less set for Man City but could be me imagining. Where do you see Weigl's future? Dortmund, England or up in the air/ anyone's guess?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry, he might be I just haven't heard that. I do expect him to end up in England.}

04 May 2018 12:57:13
Cheers Ed1 for the super quick replies, here's to hoping he ends up at Liverpool. one can only dream hey!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen enough of to know if he would be a dream signing or not. You are welcome though.}

04 May 2018 17:10:49
I think weigl would be a good option and seem the most likely in terms of a good replacement. Think jorginho is a risk considering how most Italians get on in the premier league + it seem as though he's going to end up at man city.

As for the other Michel Seri was seen as a second choice for Barcelona after they didn't get naby i think so he can't be to bad but doesn't really play the position/ style we need.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 May 2018 19:51:45
So how many players do you think we will end up with?

Goalkeeper - Navas and Allison have been mentioned
Right back - Ed002 mentioned this was a position we are looking at. Not sure on names
Centre Backs - the Eds have said we are not looking for a new CB
Centre midfield - Cebellos seems to be the name in the frame. Obviously Keita is joining us in the Summer. With Can looking like leaving and possibly Milner too I think we need a couple more players in this area. I'd really like to see a dynamic defensive midfielder which I think could really add a lot to the team.
Forward players - personally I think we need a decent option who can come in and challenge for a place. I've heard that we are still in for Griezman but are we attractive enough for him?

Be interested in getting an update to our real options apart from those I'm aware of already.

Any Eds or Macca care to update us?

Three players:

Emre Can replacement (Defensive Midfielder/ Creative Midfielder)
Philippe Coutinho replacement (Offensive Midfielder/ Left Winger)
Daniel Sturridge replacement (Right Winger/ Centre Forward)

06 May 2018 11:44:33
We should have a look at Rueben Neves for centre midfield. He’s used to playing in England (and performed brilliantly on the cold November evening), has superb technique, his passing and shooting are exceptional, his spoken English is impeccable and he’s played in a very physical league as well as being head and shoulders because of his ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2018 14:50:46
Neves to replace Can, Ceballos for Coutinho, Pulisic for Sturridge, keep Danny Ings and Lallana and loan Solanke. No CB as we have Gomez. Sessegnon for Clyne. This is my dream and I think we could afford them.
