What other club does the shiek own? i bet you it is not another european club.the problem would be what would happen if liverpool and durgarden where in europe and drawn against each other?clash of interest im afraid.uefa would not allow it.

I am a swedish l.f.c supporter and talk of pesson buying the club is false.he is joint chaiman of durgarden f.c in sweden and would not be allowed by fifa, uefa or the fa to have some control or influence in 2 different clubs.

Incorrect. I looked into this too and he is actually co-funding a cooperation for the club. He is not the chairman of the club itself. Durgarden f.c.'s chairman is Tommy Jacobson. Stefan Persson isn't even on the board so this rumour isn't entirely dead.

The sheikh that owns city owns another club aswell so whats the difference if perrsen owned another club

All this Stefan Persson talk was doing the rounds in various forums in July with people claiming then an announcement the next day. I therefore reckon this is just random rumour diffusion rather than having any basis in reality.

Shame though, having worked for a Swedish company I can say hand on heart that their business culture is one of honesty. They don;t always make good decisions and never make quick ones but if they say they are going to do something then they will keep their word. Unlike septic tanks who will say one thing then shaft you as soon as your back is turned.

Does anyone else think like me that roy has proven that
managing us is far too big a task for him! and even though our team are playing as if they don't give a monkeys it is down to roy to take control of the situation and show a backbone.
on paper we have a team more than capable to be in at least the top ten at this early stage of the season, if we give roy the grace of another five or six games and we end up loosing them because of roys poor management , do we not think he should bow down and say he cannot cope with this situation before we end up in a true relegation battle, let the men in suits sort out the financial side of things, and lets concentrate on whats happening on the pitch, and let kenny take over
before it is too late, iam sure he would sort the side out.
press beleivable if you think roy should quit, or unbeleivable if you think he should be given more time to sink us deeper towards relegation.

{ed's note - I am not a Manc nor do I (nor the Manc ed for that matter) live anywhere near Surrey. If you want to come on with a 'I am better fan than you because I am from Liverpool' attitude, then you had best take it elsewhere. Not only are at least two of the eds from Liverpool (including me) but it also does not make you a bigger or better fan. By the way, that attitude makes you far more plastic than anyone from Surrey.}

ED - i read his original comment as referring to the newspapers rather than yourself and the other site mods. A lot of people are very very emotional at the moment, and getting uptight. Facts, we are currently in the midst of a terrible run, but there are 31 league games left this season. The ownership issue should be dealt with very soon. I would lay my house and all my life savings on Liverpool most definitely finishing in the top half of the table. C'mon Redmen remember the words to our song, 'At the end of the storm there's a golden sky', i think the storm is coming to an end.

Great job on the site, remember LFC is not a passing fad, if supporters wish to turn their back on the team due to bad performances then we don't want them as supporters, Wayne Rooney shows more loyalty to missus than that.

ChrisE {ed's note - I hope that is what he meant, but his comments about us being in Surrey suggested otherwise. I have to say the only crumb of comfort I have at the moment is that the players we have are better than those we had in the Souness era, if only they can play to the best of their ability.}

To whoever wrote this:
"Its all over the place in ireland that benitez wants to come back when the yanks are gone. He did an interview in the independent on sunday sayin he loved the club and would return 1 day. All things considered he had to work in the same mess and we were never in relegation zone. At least he fought for the good of the club against the yanky pr* ks. Roy is just a yes man. Toughts ed."

Benitez might come back one day but not for a long time. Very rarely happens and good managers don't look back. Any new owners are very likely to back Roy, hand over to Kenny or get someone brand new in.

As to Roy being a "yes man", he stated in one of his earliest interviews at Anfield that he wanted to see new owners in. Not my definition of a "yes man". The bottom line is that he has had to take over a squad that was already in disarray, he hasn't been able to make the changes he wants and has been bringing in his own brand of football which means disruption in the short-term (eg moving from zonal to man-marking at corners).

Give the guy some time. One of this club's great strengths has been backing it's managers and teams over the long-term and I would hate to see us become yet another club that fires managers at the first sign of trouble.

Let's all back Roy and wait to see what happens when the RBS loan is due up.

Ed I have to say you were spot on with your blast at the guy waving his"plastic" around. He wants us to be taken over by foreigners that will rely on a global fan base to move the club forward yet he abuses those that don't actually live in Liverpool. Liverpool is a great city known for it's humour but the doom and gloom has taken hold of some fans which filters through to the players. .

Facts on the takeover. . without debt repayments we are a very profitable club, we are a world reknowned brand, we have supporters all over the world, we have the spine of a good side (Reina, Gerrard and Torres) already at the club - all good reasons why prospective owners would be interested in buying Liverpool FC. BUT. . would you pay 350 million quid for the club, knowing that with a loan payment due during October that is unlikely to be made and therefore the resulting default handing the club over to the banks - that the club could be bought for say 250 million quid.

Makes sense to me that we will be bought, I would prefer the fan ownership model, but I reckon there will be new owners soon, all depends on how advanced due diligence is and how quicklythe legal side of ownership can be sorted out after the defaulted payment. Yes I am hoping, but to me it also makes sense - there are people out there who will invest - they did in Man City and Chelski - and what brand / players/ worldwide following did they have at the time of thier takeovers?? Reckon Roy is a stop gap - not sure who else could come in - only Dalglish and Thompson at the moment for me, but I reckon we're close to takeover - the silence from the board says it all to me - change is afoot at Anfield!

Hi All, had a quick question for Lee, I really don't mean to undermine or ridicule you, as I don't have any inside info myself, but just wanted to know if you could shed some light on what basis you know about the new owners ?
* * * *
hi i am lee and the above question was asked.
i can honestly say that liverpool have been taken over all the checks have been done now and they are fit to be liverpool owners. i know this because a friend of mine works at liverpool high up has been told on saturday by text. i have seen the actual text and it looked promising, he cleared everything up when he went in work the next day but nobody knows around liverpool who the new owners yet are except probably the boardroom. a press conference id set to be held this week( sorry if i said early this week to everyone it was a misunderstanding i was meant to say sometime this week but from what i can hear it may be before wednesday or maybe thursay or friday but it is for definate.
so keep look out guys you might see something, i myself hope its sheik maktoum! !

Its a FACT lots of REAL LFC fans in the City with links to the Club have all been told the new owners will announce themselves this week! Forget the Manc eds who love nothing more than to spread doom and gloom amongst the plastic wannabes on here from their geeky little des res in sunny Surrey this is REAL rumours from the City i was born in! Tune in and then you can all get back to listing your fantasy transfer targets and worrying about which download site to watch us on. Or what goal celebration you want the players to do to show they care about you pathetic plastics WE are LFC and we are about to hit the big time! OK . . Not a rumour I'm just trying to clear something up.

Phil Thompson was on Newstalk 106fm this morning. He DID NOT say the club would have new owners before the Neverton game. He said he HOPED it would be done before the derby to give the players and fans a boost, because if things continue in the current way, Who know how bad it will get.
In the interview he sounded Very Very concerned.

Understand What you are saying but I heard on Spin Southwest the same as TrueRed73 him clearly saying that he had heard rumours before that never came true but the whispers he is hearing now of the takeover was from a very reliable source. . Hope that he is not just trying to get supporters on his side after result and film being produced. .

Here's my theory of what is going on at the club.
Key players persuaded to stay by promise of new ownership and investment in the playing squad. Investment not forthcoming due to deluded yanks hanging on for unrealistic price. Key players pissed off and seeing top class leavers (masch) replaced by poor replacements (poulsen) not up for the fight needed / willing to dig deep for a club that has misled and failed them and now they fail us. This is down to the players and the manager on the day but ask yourself why? Why do they fail to perform, why does torres not looked arsed. It all points to the owners and their shameful lack of investment and lies to both us the fans and the players. Remember ragas net 20mil transfer budget that disappeared once he had signed a new contract.
Yanks out , ynwa.

Can there really be a new owner who would clear all the debts, build a new stadium, hugely invest in the team knowing that the best we can achieve this season is 6th place which means no UCL and the money that comes with it, not high chances in the unexplored market, tough to chance to sign high quality players.Its being said that the new owner is a business man if so liverpool will be his biggest gamble

To the guys who disagree, I would like to know your own thoughts. How do you think we can get the team winning again?

You too Ed. . what are your thoughts?

Also, would you sell Torres in Jan? For me, if we can get £40-50m and get two quality players in return then I would sell him all day long! His time is up!

PJ the Red.

I've said it many times before, it's NOW time to drop this 4-2-3-1 crap and move to a more attacking formation that players know.

No more of this BS defensive approach, It's do or die Roy!

I have supported lfc for 34 years and never seen them play so bad, the players get between 90 thousand to 150000 per week to put that red jersey on, everyone blaming roy hodgson who was in my opion overated he took average players and made them good not world class, liverpool is a job to big for him, but lfc are not a sacking club we neeeded to some with a it of guiile and flair not marinio , liverpool on and off the field are a total and utter disgrace, martin broughon should now take the bull by the horns and tell every lfc fan whats going on as we pay to watch this crap i know about the confidentality agreement but liverpool fans are not thick we know we need investment , but roy hodgson choose not to sign another striker , rafel van der vart come on roy, we end up with nogood
and a sulky torres and glen johnson worst right back i have ever seen carrager to old to play left back
and playing a holding midfielder at home when we should go all out and attack, no disrespect to blackpool they were fantastic but we are lfc weres are pride and passion, i will always support lfc through the good and the bad but lets play proper football and not this long ball crap
beliviable if you agree aor unbleivable if you don't what was the point in getting rid of benitez as we playing his way but worse

Ed, wats up with the takeover issue.? And do you think Roy will be given funds in jan to add some quality to the squad. I personally think poulsen shud leave in jan. Lucas is far more better than him. Wat say about the funds in jan. And do you think valencia will let their stars(Banega, Mata) leave in jan when they are on top of the table. And what will be banega's valuation.? I think it should be 10 million. {ed's note - everyone is playing a waiting game regarding the takeover, no one wants to jump in now when they know the club will be half the price in a couple of weeks. As to funds, there is money there, there was money left over from the sale of Mash, he was just sold too late to use the money. Valencia will have to sell if the money is right, they are in too much money trouble to be able to refuse good cash offers for their players. Banega will probably go for between 15-20m, maybe more if he carries on playing as well as he has done this season.}

Liverpool are looking to snatch up Real Sociedad starlet Antoine Griezmann. The france u-19 star has impressed many clubs with his performance. Roy was to add some width to his side as he can play on left wing as well as can play as a supporting striker. A 6m bid will be enough to snatch him up.

Heard this morning that G&H will walk away from the club this week, never to return.Martin Broughton is to choose the winning bid along with the board and the approvel of the RBS.G&H will still make profit even after lowering the price of LFC.All paties interested in buying lfc have done their dudilgence and are ready to start bidding.The board have vetted all parties to prove they have the finicial muscle to build our new stadium.The new owner(s) realy could be announed this week.Doing it this way also keeps us out of aministration with RBS NOT having to take control at LFC, as RBS are being included in the sale of the club and will be the first creditor to be paid of in full including interest payments for missed payments aswell.Broughton will be making a statememt this week and maybe annoncing the new owner.fingers crossed

{Editor's Note: What "missed payments"?}

Ed. . do you think its a matter of time that we see hodgson getting the boot if more results don't go our way. {ed's note - of course mate, he only has a limited grace period to get away with poor results, things have to improve if he is not to be pushed out of the door.}
