Poster asked why Liverpool are playing friendly on 18 october v rangers, rumours rife from my scottish pals that rangers have big cash flow issues and need this money for day to day running of club.KTH5

Cheers for reply m8

Remember also that Blackpool were required to pass on a percentage of the Charlie Adam fee to Rangers and this could be Liverpool's way of helping them do it as part of the overall bargain.

The Shoe Shine Boy {Ed002's Note - Er, no.}

Rangers have had financial problems for at least a year now so helping them out may well be the reason. RED LENIN

Maybe it's just due to the fact both clubs have no European football and it basically is very similar to what a euro tie would be like without travelling hundreds n hundreds of miles? that and a good relationship between the clubs from danny wilsons transfer? sparky

We owe Rangers a friendly for 2011/12. The reasons were due to a contract deal. Liverpool cannot deliver a summer friendly next year because of other comitments. This date that's chosen is the only convenient time

Probably agreed as part of the Danny Wilson transfer.

The CIA have identified the current Rangers manager as the second gunman on the grassy knoll in the JFK assassination, and they've used their knowledge of John Henry's alien origins to blackmail LFC into staging this game.
The only thing that can stop the tie going ahead is if John Henry can summon his alien mother ship through hyperspace in time to vapourise the entire CIA archives, and (obviously) wipe the memories of those agents who have have discovered his alien secret.
If not, I think we should play 4-5-2 and try to flood the midfield.

4-5-2? Flooding the midfield at the expense of a Goalkeeper are we?

Rangers have made their bed. They cheated their way out of 45m (ish) in taxes, as far as Im concerned they can do one. Why should we risk injury to our players during the season to help them out of a sticky situation of their own creation?

Emos1892

As both a Liverpool & Rangers supporter living in Glasgow the comment Emos1982 spat out utter nonsense - Rangers havent cheated their way out of the taxes, it was down to poor management from previous owners and any backlash should & will fall with them, a bit like our previous owners.

Firstly, it's a friendly so I doubt anyone is going to play the entire game. Hell they don't even have to play more than half an hour.

And I suspect we are doing it because we have class and want to help out a fellow club - I'd want us to do this for Rangers as much as I would for Bath City. The money has to start bleeding down from the top sooner or later and although its not a big step down its a beginning that can only be beneficial if we continue with it.

TSP

Having attended the last so called friendly with Rangers - I would boycott it - friendly is the last thing it was - the crowd was unbelievable - a bit like a liverpool vs Manu match from the 70,s

''Rangers havent cheated their way out of the taxes, it was down to poor management from previous owners and any backlash should & will fall with them''

They got creative with their accounting to avoid paying tax (this is a well known FACT), it was not bad management, it was essentially fraud! Who is responsible for the mess is irrelevant, the point is they knowingly did it, and it has caught up with them.

The new regime took the club on fully knowing what lay ahead. The new guys seem to be working through the mess that they have inherited and fair play to them, but I dont see why we put our players at risk.

If a club is struggling financially due to circumstances out of their control (e.g. low attendances) then I am all for helping them out. But when the situation is of their own making, I have no sympathy for them! Just like no one had any sympathy for us when our relationship with the terrible twins went south! Just like I will have no sympathy for United when it happens to them!

NO COMMENT. Apart from Emos1892 I like you.Duckula

I dont agree with u emos

Rangers fan I see celtic fans posting here but to correct their over zealous posture I will say this the tax case rangers are answering is a complex one and it has been said its a test-case which could effect many epl clubs who have used the same legal loophole for years so beware if this goes against rangers it could effect many clubs down south as well.

All the best liverpool fans just watch your backs rangers fans not the most welcoming

Emos you clearly don't have a clue away you go and do some more homework son to say its fraud is wrong. The club were told by legal advisers that it was perfectly legal and i am almost certain that this friendly will be down to the fact neither team has european football. Because rangers done the same thing a few years ago with A.C milan

BILLYBOY1873

Just to clear up, I am not now, nor have I ever been a Celtic fan. Im red all the way through, so my words have nothing to do with the whole rangers-celtic thing, I couldnt care any less about either of them!

This should surely be the time for sterling to get into the 1st team.

When it happens to utd ? get real haha! theyre the 2nd biggest club in the world GBSAX

The timing is perfect for Gerrard and Johnson to start. Then it gives playing time to underused players and budding talent like: - Doni, Wilson, Coates, Wisdom, Robinson, Coady, Spearing, Sterling, Suso, Maxi. Heck we might get 25 mins out of Aurelio before his hamstring goes again.

1. Do you know if theres is any intrest in any middle eastern players like from egypt or iran.2. And if not howcome we dont look at any of them they are really talented players {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in players from the Middle East mainly because clubs do not consider them good enough.}

These are still up-coming nations and they lack sophistication in their game as do many other third world countries. However - like most third world countries they are rapidly improving. {Ed002's Note - Right so you may see players sneak in to lower league teams in various European countries if, and it is a really big if, work permits can be obtained. Getting a work permit in England for a guy who has been playing in Iran is not going to be a breeze.}

Thanks ed for the reply it really helped. Like I'm always watching this Middle Eastern players and they are very good player in my opinion
