Hi ed/s,
If Skrtel leaves, what is the most likely team he will end up playing for? And if you have any info how much/low are we willing to accept for him? Thnx.
(he was great last season)
GALF {Ed002's Note - I understand there has been some recent tentative interest from Fiorentina and two clubs in Russia - bids are expected to be made in the summer. Zenit is probably the most attractive destination for him.}

Id guess Shaktar

Its Anzi and Zenit. If those two enter a bidding war we should easily get 12-15 million for Skrtel.
On another note Ed do we hold an interest in Kouyate the Anderletch CB?
He is quality and could be available for as little as 6 million. I like Alderwield and De Vrij but we need a physical presence aside Agger and neither are physical enough. Dede would have been perfect but he looks to be off to AC milan. {Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool.}

I wouldn't sell Skrtel for anything less than £15M as he is still a very good defender, has the experience and is a regular International starter. If we try and sign Sakho, De Vrij, Lovren, Dede etc will we have to part with £12M upwards so £15M for Skrtel is not a massive asking price compared to some other defenders on the market.

agreed Big D.

I also agree BigD.

It seems we sell cheap and buy high so can't see this situation being different. I at least hope we get back what we paid for cOates and do think we should look at hangerland as I'm sure he didn't sign a new contract

Reports in Egypt say Liverpool will send scouts to watch egypt international saleh gomaa, he will play with egypts U-20 in turkey in the summers U-20 world cup. he is a 19 year old deep-playmaker, he is already wanted by half the teams in serie A, with udineses scout calling, him a twin of realmadrids xabi alonso!
Anyway he will play against englands u20 as egypt are in the same group.
As I have watched him a 1000 times thought I would share my, views on him!
He has played 9 international matches already and and just won the best player in african U-20
Championship, he is a carbon copy of xabi alonso playing style, he runs the tempo in each and any game I have seen him play! He would be a dream back-up for lucas, but in 1-2 years lucas won't even be able to get in the first team because of gomaa! That how good he is! And 2 years from now if he isn't playing for us he will, be playing in another top european team and I hope Liverpool are really watching him!

Hehe:)

Its in 3-4 different news sources ( egyptian news papers online) can you please find out if their is any truth to it at all? He plays for Enppi in egypt!
Much respect to the great job you do eds:) I would loose my mind!

Malak {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at this time.}

U seem a bit obsessed with these egyptians. Egyptian Messi, Egyptian Gerrard, Egyptian Alonso. I'm guessing you are Egyptian?

05 Apr 2013 19:23:33
Malak? are you from egypt? and where do you live?

Saleh Gomaa is Xabi Alonso no doubt about it and am so happy if Liverpool are really watching him.
But I just read that Man-united spoke to his club Enppi about a trial and if the were ready to sell.
He said their will be no trials for a player of his quality and that granada, udinese & inter are preparing bids to take him in the summer.

Boobi

Malak. you are our new african scout!

05 Apr 2013 23:04:08
My dad is egyptian:)
Am generally obsessed with egyptian football and Liverpool!
There have been so few egyptian talents in recent years but due to economic reasons youngsters have been given a chance, now the best players in the national team are all 21 or under.
there are 6-7 players in the national team who will become world class and 4 of them already been picked up by basel, fiorentina, rio ave!
I love Liverpool so much I would be sad if these players joined f. eks man-utd or arsenal instead of us. saleh gomaa is wanted by unitedand rami rabia by arsenal! So there is obvious quality there. and what makes it fun is I have seen those youngsters for 2-3 years and how much they developed and improved each season and that they will continue to do so because in egypt they are national treasure and they know it!

Malak, it's been nice having you around over the last few days my friend, been good to have someone posting positive thoughts, and giving some of the Brendan/Allen/FSG bashers something to cry over. oh and an interesting insight into the Egyptian league!

Cheers buddy

Hello, I'm from Egypt and watched saleh gomaa many many times and I can say he's not that quality even though the interests from serie A, the only egyptian player that has quality and we must look at is Basel's Mohamed Salah, he's a playmaker and can play on the wings too
El capitano

Thanks Super. Really appreciate it.

We have to support our players and manager.
Specially when allen and borini has been very unlucky with injuries and are so young! I can't understand how people can write off 21 & 22 years olds. Zidane and Drogba didn't burst on the european scene before their late 25s.

ya ragel? saleh gomaa is fantastic for a guy who is 19 years old and has played in every international level so far. You will eat your words in a couple of years.
Saleh gomaa is a Dm playmaker, Mohamed Salah is A RW/LW totally different types of players.

and btw if he isn't that good, how did he just win the best player of U20 African championship? he will play in his 2nd U20 world cup this summer. That alone tells me there is something special about him.

Malak

This guy has class. Great pace and passing range matched with good vision. A true prospect I think. If he'd fit in with our style of play I doubt as his game mainly consists of long rang. A type of long ball merchant. But has class from what iv seen none the less. But hey iv only seen a short clip on you tube and I could make R2D2 look like Zidane on that ;)

Hey Ed002, hope things are better at your end and your family is doing fine. Question regarding Mertens. Earlier you were pitching him to join B. Munich in summer but a couple of weeks ago, you pointed that may be Bayern interest has waned in Mertens.

Can you update on the situation and is there any interest from Liverpool in the player?

Cheers!

Indian with Red Heart {Ed002's Note - Thank you for asking after my family. As far as I know my children are fine, but I haven't seen them for a while. My wives are both fine and I hope you family are in tip top condition. You are right that Mertens has slipped off the list in Munich. Even before Bayern Munich appointed Guardiola they were indeed looking to refresh the squad this summer and, as you say, Mertens was one of the players they were looking to. However, their plans right now do not include Mertens - who is still of serious interest to Lazio. I would expect there might be interest from England and certainly one EPL club (not Liverpool) has started to take an interest in him as a possible option for the summer.}

Hey eds, anything new on Will Hughes in regards of both transfer and progress as a footballer?

Drigan {Ed001's Note - nothing new, he is still attracting a large number of scouts and he still looks to be good enough to step up, but no definite move has been made yet. I really wouldn't be surprised to see him move in the summer, but I think, personally, he would be better off spending another full season with Derby for his own sake.}

Great prospect, maybe LFC will sign him and loan him back to allow his development, ant

06 Apr 2013 12:25:07

Hey eds, any interest from clubs regarding Borini? Any chance of him leaving? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest right now.}

Fiorentina

I will give you a tenner him and loan him to Fleetwood. Should be about the right level for him providing they don't use barn doors instead of goals in that league. He could never hit one of those sitting on the latch.

Guarantee both of ye slated lucas without giving him a chance. Borini has been injured and played about 15 games if even that plus he's 21. Stop whining and support every player

To be fair I did not mean to sound as if I wanted Borini to leave, I was asking if there was any chance of him leaving if there was any interest from the likes of Fiorentina, not I want him to leave. Sorry I could have phrased it better

I'm not knocking the player but he's struggled with injury so his forms been poor. I'm not sure many teams' will be interested?

rikdangerous

Nope, totally wrong. I stood at the back of the Kop when Lucas joined and had several arguments supporting the lad. My season ticket is in the Centinary and I do the same for Hendo who will become a quality player for both us and England. However, any seasoned football fan can see that Borini just isn't, and never will be, a top player.

hey eds and fellow Liverpool fans, just wanted up opinion on toby alderweireld, I seen us linked with him today so I said i'd watch a video or 2 of him on youtube, I know youtube is only his best bits but from what I seen of him he looks like a right footed agger!
Also can I just say how well I think fsg have done since they came in, everyone says they have to invest more money, kenny blew a lot of there money and rodgers has spent around 50 million which shows that they are providing money for transfers.
I know some people are slagging off rodgers but I for one think he has done a great job. Give him a year or 2 to bring through some more youth and sign a few more players and we will only get better. Sturridge and especially coutinho have looked very good since coming in, not sure on allen and borini but as long as there playing for Liverpool il support them when they play. also thought assaidi was pretty good when watching him play and suprised he didn't get more games.
Great site eds, keep up the good work!

Quinner {Ed002's Note - Toby Alderweireld still looks a likely canditate to replace William Gallas at Spurs in the summer. A bid from Anzi was rejected in January but his performances have continued to attract the attention of a number of clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Lyon, Inter and Juventus. It would be no surprise if Liverpool were impressed with his performances.}

I agree with ed, spurs bound!

Don't want him

Don't want him? Quality player!

Eds can you see this Carroll BenArfa swap as being plausible? It seems to keep coming up of late.

In my opinion I just think its made up.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Newcastle has done a fantastic job in sorting out Ben Arfa over the past 18 months. There was a time when it looked like Marseille were just going to give up on him. I recall my wife saying that Bursaspor offered to take him on loan and it was seriously considered before his moving to Newcastle. Arsenal and Schalke have shown an interest but in the unlikely event Newcastle were to make the player available this summer, then I would think PSG would be the desired destination for Ben Arfa.}

He has stated previously that he would move to Arsenal Liverpool and chelsea.

When you say sorting him out, do you mean in terms of the reported attitude issues? {Ed002's Note - The kid had plenty of problems that he needed help with, some including his attitude.}

Carroll is being given second chance. Get Ben Arfa too

Your wife ed? civil marraige was it, nudge nudge.

Hi Ed,

Do you know anything of the supposed Liverpool interest in Jonathan de Guzman? 5 million fee mooted. If we can't get Eriksen or Marthykan which I believe we probably won't, this guy would be a superb alternative. Has got everything. I know some will say he plays for Swansea and rule him out completely as someone who would actually imrpove us but the man is creative, quick, good passer, tracks back and can score a goal. He makes the dutch international team FFS. Everything we need for our AM.

Also Ed, what do you make of this Ben Arfa/Andy Carroll swap? I pray to god this is not true. I'd prefer 10 million for Andy Carroll than a man who will be out for half a season every season. Honda for RW please.

Davey Sulls {Ed002's Note - de Guzman will be sold by Villareal in the Summer and assuming they have no change of manager I would expect a deal to be completed with Swansea. I cannot imagine he would be interested in a move to anywhere he would have to sit on the bench.

I know nothing of any swap deal with Newcastle.}
