I wish he settled in/ given more of a chance, thought he was a brillaint, promising player and plenty of pace which is very usefull in the PL

I don't know what situation with Assaidi, but nbased on the (very) little I saw of him last season I was never entirely convinced he got what (was trying to do. Not enough of the right off the ball movement. But perhaps he just needed more game time.

Hi Eds, do you know if we still have any interest in Micah Richards? I don't think he's signed a new contract and as he isn't likely to be first choice for Man City he might be tempted to move. As he can play CB or RB he would be a decent purchase (although probably an expensive one). Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool.}

Believable7 Unbelievable16

I like richards as a player, he is like a steam train going forward sometimes and is built like a train but I don't think he is one of our targets sadly.

reading that we are interested in dele alli (MK Dons)
do you know of any interest? {Ed001's Note - yes, from all the top clubs.}

Hi eds, I just read that Diego capel was a target? Is it true, if it is, he will cost €7m, which is relatively cheap.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - It sounds like recycled news from at least a month ago, probably longer.}

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Honestly from my limited view of Capel it seems like he never really developed that much considering how good he was in his late teens.

Something like a Dani Pacheco I guess, never pushed on.

Afternoon/evening all (depends when this gets posted). I have been told by a friend (boardroom links) that Ayre is in talks with Arsenal at the moment regarding Suarez. The word is that is will take £50 million to prize him away. Most will already be aware of the £50 million mark being spoken about, but talks are actually taking place.

I personally doubt that Arsenal will fork out that extra £10 million. Seems odd that Wenger would haggle over £2 million on some players, but then splash £50 million on one guy.

Whether Arsenal are willing to pay this much, I have no idea. I am hearing more from this person on Thursday.

Believable22 Unbelievable72

Its possible. Arsenal and Wenger may have been effected by the boos their team got from their own fans during and after the Napoli and Galatasaray games . they need to do something, they need to buy someone and Suarez as good as any.

Agree2 Disagree0

Your 'board link' has told you what br stated mid July when cavani signed for Napoli, Suarez is worth the same i.e 50m +, and now they are in takes with arsenal? Again this is already known, arsenal are asking questions re availability and we state you are nowhere near our valuation! So if you think your 'board link' is telling you anything more than the gutter press has already published you're in a dream pal!

Agree3 Disagree0

Suarez needs to have a good look at himself, its quite frankly embarresing! Everything he's doing is frustraiting and disrepectfull but the one thing that's fired me up is that he didn't attend Gerrards Testimonial dinner!

Agree0 Disagree0

'Board Room' links. love it!

Agree0 Disagree0

RedFella96 - I post on the site and am an avid reader of posts. As a Liverpool fan it is not in my interest to post something untrue. As I mentioned in the post, I said that many people will be aware of it, I was just confirming that Ayre is still in talks with Arsenal, and that it hasn't gone away yet. Thanks for your feedback though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Suarez didn't attend because he was wife was pregnant and needed him beside her. Well atleast that's what I read

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol- I like many others come on here for the expert views of the eds and inside info they have available to them. It is so boring trudging through the c£&p written by 'itk' persons which on closer look are just rewriting gutter press rumers with no foundation it's laughable so my 'feedback' would be stop rewriting yesterday's newspaper stories and filling this great site with regurgitated nonsense! Of course we in talks goners have made no secret they want to keep lines open and ayre has maintained right price or no deal! Presumably preferring to sell abroad as I am sure most of us reds prefer but the bones of the story is your telling us nothing that isn't already well known and claiming you have a link to the board is laughable! As with most big business (and that is what a football club is now, like it or lump it!) anyone disclosing information is either specifically leaked strategically through the press office or doesn't happen as it did jobs would be on the line. Ask stevue for his inside take on transfer and he just walks off as it is not his place to discuss it!

Hi eds and fellow Reds, if Barca fails in their rumoured pursuit of David Luiz, do you see them coming for Dagger and if they move for him do you see him moving? Great site, all the way from Zimbabwe. {Ed002's Note - They have an interest in Agger as an option. Liverpool will likely not want to sell.}

Believable7 Unbelievable18

05 Aug 2013 15:14:01
Is Yilmaz no longer an option? or was he never an option? Plus what is the crack with all these loan/loan to buy deals that we and many other clubs are looking at? I know not outlaying substantial amounts of money is a benefit but why is it happening so much now? {Ed002's Note - As far as I am aware Liverpool has not approached Galatasaray about Yilmaz.}

Hi eds, This is a question rather than a rumour but do you know if we still have an interest in Balazs Dzsudzsak? (coutinho hat-trick against that other mob from Glasgow on saturday would do just nicely). lol. {Ed002's Note - I suspect it is an old story being recycled, but Liverpool showed interest in Dzsudzsak whilst at PSV and again in January when the club enquired after a loan. More recently Inter, Schalke and Parma have shown an interest. It would certainly not be out of the question.}

Believable16 Unbelievable9

Hi eds. Is Rodgers looking for defensive midfilders to act as cover for Lucas or he is looking at available players as cover? {Ed001's Note - I believe he wants cover/competition for Lucas, but he might have to settle for sticking with what he has in this area in order to strengthen elsewhere.}

Believable12 Unbelievable4

For that reason Ed, were you shocked BR loaned Coady out?
I can't think of anyone else in the squad or youth team that could cover that position naturally, look what happened with Allen last season when Lucas was injured. {Ed001's Note - not shocked, not really sure it was a mistake to loan him out either, long term. He does need first team football, my worry is the level he went out to. I think he is too good for League 1.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed, Which current player you think will provide cover for Lucas? As far as I can see we have no cover for Lucas as it is. Allen is not the same type of player as Lucas. {Ed001's Note - Toure, Spearing, Flanagan and Baio.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Baio ed? whos that? youth I assume?

Agree1 Disagree0

Hopefully Spearing and Flanagan will be shipped out. If Toure play as DM then we will definitely need a starting XI replacement for Skrtel.
My opinion is that none of those you listed are nearly good enough as DM cover for Lucas. Not if we are serious about a top 4 finish.
Cheers,

Agree0 Disagree0

I Don't think that DM is a priority for Rogers, because of the system he wants to play. I think that Tiago ilori is the intended long term replacement for Lucas and if BR thought it was a priority he would have bought TI already.

Hi eds, I was wondering what in your opinion is the probablity of suarez staying on and Liverpool still signing costa? I think the pair would be an utterly formidable strike pairing. Thanks for the brilliant work as always, cheers {Ed002's Note - In all honesty, I really don't see Suarez staying now. Someone has mentioned that even the Echo are saying he is looking to force his way out now.}

Believable17 Unbelievable6

The Echo does not say he is trying to force his way out.

That will be people confusing the Echo 'gossip' section for actual news again.

Agree2 Disagree0

I reckon Stevie G will step down as captain and Suarez will take the armband.

Agree1 Disagree7

I don't have a paper copy of the Echo but I've just read the Echo online and I've been unable to find any mention of a claim that Suarez is trying to "force his way out" so I don't know who the someone who has mentioned it. Maybe Mr Wenger? {Ed002's Note - It is in the "gossip" section according to another poster.}

To be honest Ed02 and fellow reds I think he sealed his departure (though I think it'll be more on our terms than his) when he was the only senior squad member who never attended the Steven Gerrard Gala Dinner on the night of the testimonial. His refusal to acknowledge fans on the day of the testimonial was also a direct spit in the faces of all those who stood by his reprehensible behaviour (including me) in his time as our player. We were stabbed in the back and what did we do? We stood and applauded Brutus as he sacked the steps of Rome!

On a separate note I have to say I think Per Guardiola has shown himself to be a fairly poor agent if he is unable to understand and negotiate a contract clause as wanted by his client.

Hi eds any news on pacheco heard rumour of a loan back to spain but nothing confirmed' official website still have him listed although he and spearing seem to have lost squad numbers {Ed002's Note - The club would prefer him sold. There was talk of Celta Vigo and Almeria showing an interest in Pacheco but I have heard nothing new in recent weeks.}

Hey eds, any news on Lorenzo Melgarejo, and is he due to be signing? {Ed002's Note - I really don't think he will be.}

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Apparently his scheduled medical was cancelled by BR. We are supposedly moving on to either Sequeira or Cissokho

Liked the look of Porto yesterday, all very comfotable on the ball, their back four looked great in possession. Guess that Mangala and Sandro will be at one of the wealthy clubs soon. Shame would be ideal for us.

Are Liverpool interested in Kenneth Omeruo? A dominant centre-back who knows how to handle to big, strong forwards and also good on the ball. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have asked to be informed if Kenneth Omeruo becomes available for loan, but there is interest from elsewhere and assurances of game time would be required - and I am not sure Liverpool could give that.}

Believable7 Unbelievable9

I am struggling to see why interest in a loan deal?
If we want him why not just buy him. I am sure Chelsea will sell for a decent fee say 3-5M. And its not like he is in their plans they already have so many youngsters out on loan and in the acadamy like Kalas, Ake, etc. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have no intention of selling him.}

Very strange rumour from a journo called Patrick Gleeson about LFC looking at 22 year old Reading CB Sean Morrison. Eds, any truth to this or a case of "journalist in just-made-crap-up shocker"? {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it, sorry.}

hi eds and reds can any of the eds say, if Liverpool sign anyone, would it bhe for example costa at 21 mill * without selling suarez? or only if we sell him? it struck me weeks ago that maybe we would only be making signings of players who were not at c, l clubs and would not get offers from c.l clubs therefore, generally, cheaper options. I still don't know why we haven't tried for honda as an example, douglas, free from twente? or are these players etc not good enough? would appreciate your opinions, edo2 did you find out about cissohko yday? thjanks, steviep62 godbless96. {Ed002's Note - Honda and Douglas are not available as they have agreed moves elsewhere - and you need to remember that Liverpool really can't bid for every player that comes available. I don't think there is any real benefit in trying to balance the spending of £21M and the sale of Suarez. The situation with Cissokho is that there is interest in taking him on loan or loan-to-buy but no agreement at this time - but there is an expectation that there will be at some point - hence KK were told it was not worth another bid.}

05 Aug 2013 11:13:40
My feeling is the Suarez saga has to play out like this: I feel another top striker will be bought whether Suarez is sold or not. The reason for all the comments about Saurez 'not for sale' & 'the fans love him' is I believe all part of a strategy. I think if Saurez is sold now any price for strikers Liverpool enquire about becomes inflated. If Liverpool say he's not staying then interested clubs will wait til the last minute to bid and clubs with stikers we want will also wait til last minute to see what we get for Saurezoso as to adjust their prices accordingly. Thus Liverpool need to give impression of Suarez being in no position to leave. If they get the striker they want and then a bid for Saurez comes in even last minute from abroad then I believe he will be sold. that's why I think any player bought will not depend on Suarez sale as that would ultimately cost Liverpool more in the long run. If an unacceptable bid or bid from an EPL club comes in then I feel Liverpool will wait til January or ultimately next summer.

Ed's - do you think that Real are waiting to conclude their deal for Bale before moving for Suarez? It feels that, without selling Ronaldo back to Utd, 150 million+ for two players is a stretch even for Madrid. Finally, do you see any scenario which might see Suarez U turn and stay, or do you think he is totally gone bar the right offer?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - I would not link the two transfers. Real Madrid have a number of players that are being sold or are available for sale. They have pretty much covered the £53M spent on Isco and Illarramendi by the sales of Higuain, Callejon and Albiol to Napoli. There are others such as Coentrao and Di Maria that will be making way for other players they will be looking to bring in. I don't see Ronaldo moving back to Manchester United this summer.}

Believable15 Unbelievable1

He has apparently agreed a new five year deal at madrid. so maybe real have never had an intrest in our want away striker?

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed, is Modric available and have we or anyone else shown interest? Huge longshot but he's a brilliant little player {Ed002's Note - They would rather not sell him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

What players are available besides Di Maria and Coentrao Ed? Khedira perhaps? {Ed002's Note - Another club is in discussions over Khedira this week - he won't be moving to Liverpool. Callejon was to be available for exchange but has now been sold. Kaka is available and Cheryshev would be for loan.}

Hi Eds

Great site its a pleasure reading some decent comments and discussions for a change. Eds regarding Alderwereild, why are we taking so long to sign him, he would a good player in the squad for CB, RB and DM at 6 mil {Ed002's Note - I expected Alderweireld to go to Spurs to replace Gallas or Roma to replace Marquinhos and I would not discount either club showing an interest in him still. Liverpool decided the asking price was too high, but it is certainly less than that being asked for Papadopoulos. It looked likely that a move to Bayer Leverkusen would go ahead but they too see him as over priced. Norwich have made an enquiry and had a bid accepted by Ajax, but the player is not keen to move there. Everton will match Norwich's offer and put the player on the spot regarding a transfer. Arsenal may well show some interest if he is still available later in the summer. Maybe Liverpool will look to him again now that Skrtel is moving on - but they will need to be quick.}

Any interest in Mirko Vucinic as he is the perfect player to fit in Rodgers style of play. And is it true that Real Madrid will put in a 43m £ bid for Suarez Ed? {Ed002's Note - Napoli may turn to Vucinic if a deal for Martinez fails. I expect that a bid will be made by Real Madrid.}

Liverpool are threatening Torino's hopes of landing St Etienne fullback Faouzi Ghoulam.

Toro believed they had a deal struck for the Algeria international left-back last week.

However, Sky Italia says negotiations have stalled after Liverpool made a late move for the 22 year-old.

Ghoulam has agreed personal terms with the Reds and now it's a straight auction between Liverpool and Torino to convince St Etienne to sell.

---------

Never heard of him but thought I post it because 1st were suppose to of agreed to loan Cissokho then Lorenzo subject to a work permit then it was the Granada left back and now him, could 1 of the eds clear it up for please as to what LB Liverpool are actually trying to sign as last I heard Cissokho had agreed terms and was close!

{Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid, Udinese and Genoa have shown an interest in St Et's Ghoulan it is Torino who look like they are best placed to complete a deal. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool and the reason that the transaction is not yet completed is more likely that the player is unsure whether a move to Turin would be an improvement for him.}

Hey ed just registered and love the new happy feeling to the site! got a few questions that i've been thinking about -

1) Do you think the club are looking at Costa as a Suarez replacement or will a replacement be bought after he has gone?

2) Do you know of any attempts to bring in a defensive midfielder, Ed001 did mention one is now on the agenda and you mentioned earlier Spearing is looking to move on so one would be needed?

3) Are there any other centre halfs besides Papa that you know we have an interest in?

Cheers ed love the site and keep up the good work! {Ed002's Note - (1) If Liverpool buy Costa that will be it for forwards for this summer. (2) Players have been looked at but right now the defence has to be the focus. (3) There has been interest in a number of centre backs as discussed.

Hi eds, thanks for all the great work, and helping to keep out the abusive posts on the site, just wondered who you think will be our back up left back to enrique, Siqueria or Cissokho seem to be the two players talked about, Siqueria is older but I imagine would be on cheaper wages, although I believe he'd be far more expensive to buy than cissokho, I read somewhere Granada wanted £10m, although a loan looks far more likely. {Ed002's Note - Right now Cissokho seems more likely.}
