Hi ed's I know it's been asked a thousand times but do you think we could bring Hazard in the summer (even without champions league football)? Or have you heard anything lately? {Ed001's Note - all I know is that he is running out of options, I very much doubt we would want a player like him that is only interested in using Liverpool as a stepping stone.}

But Ed001 if he did want to use us as a stepping stone to Spain we could double our outlay! or make a tidy profit on him! plus he'd have to play extremely good with us to make that step! So good buisness me think's! {Ed001's Note - it is not good business to bring in players whose only interest is money or getting out as soon as possible. Not for long term success anyway.}

Why the obsession with Hazard? I don't get it.

Well if he would help us get champions league where no other player of his quality would join us then I would take him and sell him on for more money in the future as we would only be running the risk of losing more of our quality players without champions league. But nonetheless I doubt he would really consider it. {Ed002's Note - He would cost 35M euro. Are you seriously suggesting that Liverpool should somehow find this money to invest in a player who would only wish to use the move as a means to move to a club he really wants to be at subsequently? Will they let him kiss the badge? Perhaps they will let him kiss but just not use his tongue.}

But if we've got the use of him for a couple of season's then make a profit on him why is'nt that good buisness? {Ed002's Note - And where does the 35M euro come from?}

As you Ed's have been saying that a lot of team's have been walking away recently maybe we'll get him a little cheaper? But we are interested in him so who know's? {Ed002's Note - Other teams are concerned but he won't be had on the cheap and it remains most unlikely.}

Lol 'just not use his tongue'

hey ed,
were we interested in giuseppe rossi before he got his injury?
josh :) {Ed001's Note - yes.}

Ed if he got health again, do you see us being interested in him again? {Ed002's Note - Giuseppe Rossi will leave Villareal in the summer and a move to Italy is most likely if he leaves Spain. Barcelona may be interested.}

I could see us being interested should we sell Suarez but I can't see it materialising.

eds, is there any interest form liverpool in sinclair or hoilett. {Ed002's Note - Not that we are aware.}

The 25-year-old plays for Mexican side Jaguares Chiapas, but is available to leave if any club meets the £4.17m (5m) asking price.
And Liverpool are reportedly weighing up making a bid, with their scouts having become regulars at Jaguares matches.
But Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that Porto are also on Martinez's trail and could look to strike first to seal a deal for the forward.
Talk-Sports.

I still don't know why we Not go for him in January ? he is a Future £30m striker saw his few match go on Liverpool.

R-R

At twenty five he will be worth 30 mil coming out of brazil? if we buy him for 5? i doubt that.... would be a great player but dont think it'd be anywheres near a 25 mil revenue. then again torres went for 50

Ed who do you think realisticly will sighn for liverpool in the summer {Ed002's Note - Too early to say right now. Too many dependencies.}

What can you tell me about alberto paloshi at chievo, is there any interest from liverpool and is he any good.
{Ed002's Note - He has odd part ownership details which I can't recall and I very much doubt he will be moving to Liverpool.}

He's on loan from ac milan isnt he? {Ed002's Note - Milan and I think Genoa are the other owners.}

He is co-owned by Milan and Genoa, though not in equal parts Milan have the larger percentage of his ownership. They have high hopes for him within the Milan set up but dont expect him to be ready for a couple of years.

He is a fairly quiet guy and hardworking with excellent goal instincts. Hope that helped.

Ed,
Who would be your choice of right winger and striker to sign in the summer?
Josh:) {Ed002's Note - Not so much my choice but the club appear interested in Matt Phillips and, seemingly still, in Luuk De Jong.}

Id love soldado as a striker :)
not sure who for right wing though, maybe ramirez or kagawa?
josh

Affelay and soldado.

What about raheem sterling. bring some youth players in for the rest of the season give them some experience for next season

Hi ed/s. Quick question this afternoon.

I recall Xabi Alonso stating that he does not rule out a return to Liverpool. Also, another Ed said the exact same thing.

Obviously this was quite some time ago, maybe even a year or two, but has this changed since? Will we be seeing him in red once again? If so, could you see us going in for him in the summer?

He's getting on a bit, but there's no doubting his technical ability. Definitely one of the best in the world.

Cheers. {Ed002's Note - It strikes me as unlikely. Going forward one would expect younger players not older players arriving.}

Well he's the best in the world at what he does, so how would it be a step back? If thats the case Bellamy was a pointless signing.

Well, there definitely needs to be a balance. If we could find a developed younger talent, it'd be better, but at this moment i don't think we have the time to nurture and 'have passengers' as such. We have Henderson who looks a good prospect, if we add another young player the balance wouldn't be right.

Someone like Alonso would almost certainly help us. But there is a case that creating hasn't been a main problem this season, rather taking our chances. Our main priority has to be a striker who can find the back of the net.

Cheers

Firstly, Bellers was free.
But on the Xabi case, simple alternative would be to splash out for Javi Maritnez, He'll be as good, if not better than Xabi.

Red7.

Suarez for Ozil and Alonso has always been my fantasy signing. But then again I'd hate to see Suarez go.

BthekingB

We'd never get him cheap enough for his age to make it worthwhile. Besides, he'd have to be mad to leave what he has now for rainy days in west derby.

could liverpool go in for matias suarez and if boro do make anoffer for shelvey do you reckon he could go? And is pogrenyak (spelling) on loan at fulham? If he is I think liverool should try an get him full time 5 goals in 2 games. just what we need {Ed002's Note - Perhaps, I dont know, Yes.}

The pog has scored 5 goals for fulam befor that only one in 15 for strugrad hes only just started lets see in a few weeks if hes still scoring and then well start asking about im aye {Ed002's Note - But would Strugrad be interested in selling?}

A quick question for the eds ,if at the end of the season we don't get 4th do u think we could see the return of rafa? I for 1 would like to see rafa given a chance with a truly stable Liverpool fc . I think a lot of fans would give him a chance. {Ed002's Note - With Kenny going to Chelsea? At the moment Liverpool have a manager - I think it best to stick behind him for the time being.}

Four home wins by mid March is relegation form - Dalglish can't last much longer !

Yeah what a great idea let's get rid of Dalglish, after all he's just won our first trophy in 6 years. Whilst we are at it let's get rid of all the backroom staff, rip apart the team & rebuild it from scratch regardless of the cost. Some people commenting on here know nothing about building a winning side, beleive it or not it doesn't happen overnight you know.

If Rafa is still without a job whenever Kenny feels he has done enough, then maybe.

Ohhh the carling cup !! All the best players from around the world dream of the ch lea... Oh sorry the carling cup !! Even steve g looked imbarresed on Saturday

How little some people know about football.Get off Kennys back and let him get on with is work.

To win the Carling Cup you have to come 1st, to win the F.A. Cup you come 1st, but all some short sighted people on here want is 4th, like right now, just like they do on their computer games!! A lot of people need to grow a little more patience. One cup or two cup wins could start blooding a WINNING mentality in the side! That coupled with a couple of additions in the summer and who knows we could start next season with ambitions to WIN the league! You know WIN, coming FIRST, not fourth. Winning is like a habbit and you only get into that habbit by WINNING trophies! If you want to 'support' a team that changes their manager every 2 seconds then go to stamford bridge and watch them lot down there, a club by the way are on the verge of collapse because why, changing the manager every few months. Rafa, although I like him, is not the answer, nor is torres (I just can't understand why anyone wants torres back??) Support the team and support the manager, it doesn't happen over night, we are building.

For a start, if you're going to use sarcasm, use it correctly.

Secondly, Dalglish has won for us exactly 1 more trophy than Arsenal have garnered in the last SEVEN years. That would be the team managed by the Premier League-winning coach.

So get off his back, eh?

TSP

It took Old Whisky Nose 6 years before he won his first league title at Man Utd.

It took Kenny 5 years to build a title winning squad at Blackburn.

Man City got taken over by the Arabs in 2008, invested almost £1billion and only have only one F.A Cup to show for it.

Proof if it was neeeded that building a squad capable of winning the league title takes time and patience. Only idiots would want Dalglish sacked after just a year.

Dalglish is rebuilding the squad slowly and it seems to be working.. only for the team to be extremely unlucky in fron of goal this season. I don't believe this unluckiness would be taken to next season.

And I also don't think the owners would dare sack dalglish given his status in the club, he still step down once he's had enough. Then the first manager the club should look to employ is Benitez, not only he's a tactical genius but also a true reds fan.

Also after dalglish wins the fa cup this season, I bet a lot of you would go back and hail him as kk. We need to keep the true football tradition and back the team through good and bad. Look what impatiance has done to Chelsea?

Difference between City and Liverpool: City were a mid-table team at best and Liverpool are giants of world football with the best history in the english game. Can't really compare the two, can you?

What do you base your "I think a lot of fans would give him a chance" comment on? Haved you canvassed support in the bars, forums and at the ground. Benitez was an over inflated ego who believed himself more important than the club. What other LFC manager has waved the white flag during a league game as he did against Reading and Birmingham? Had he not been so negative and stunted with his tactics and so preoccupied with "back me or sack me" rants he might still have had a job.

Prob not gonna be popular but oh well.
Our league form has been terrible lately not really been great all season.
Kenny had a chance last year and he and commoli spent £100m on mostly tat.
We won the cup cause we put out a strong team through out all the rounds and only just managed a win in the final.
And also gerrard and Adam can't play in the same team too alike at least gerrard was good his only good game since returning was newc no Adam.
Don't give me the money received balls they have spent over £100m of cash just imagine who rafa would have got for that
Don't forget silva and villa nearly signed for us but h&g wouldn't splash the cash. {Ed001's Note - I am scared to think how many over paid deadbeats Rafa would have added to the wage bill with that money!}

{Ed001's Note - I am scared to think how many over paid deadbeats Rafa would have added to the wage bill with that money!}
=====================
Stop picking on Rafa will you.
I love Kenny, one of my treasured possessions is a 20 something year old poster of the king, but lets compare: Kenny won us the league cup in his first 14 months, Rafa won us the champions league in his first 10 months , a year later an FA cup followed, 4 seasons under him we were close second with 86 points which would've won the league in over 20 seasons out of the 25 PL years.
Bad signings? well Carroll at 35m, Downing at 20, and Hendo at 16 are no bargains , and I fear they would never justify the price ...
Rafa was a great servent, he was moved on, so should we, good or bad .. Now its Kenny we should all be behind him with good and the bad ..
Roy

To the person who said you can't compare Man City & Liverpool because City were mid-table when the Arabs took over whereas Liverpool were European giants. That is way off the mark my friend.

When Kenny took over the reigns at Liverpool a little over a year ago, the club was near the bottom of the table in a fight against relegation. The club had just been taken over after near bankruptcy under Hicks & Gillett, and our star striker Fernando Torres was sold shortly after. Hardly Kings of Europe were we? Kenny is slowly turning things around at the club and we should give him our support.

It's embarrasing that Liverpool fans are calling for Daglish's head after 18 months back in charge. No manager would have come in and got this Liverpool team challenging for the title. There have been some poor buys, yes. Charlie Adam for one, he was exceptional though at Blackpool and along with other top clubs looking at him, Liverpool brought him in. He is out of his depth and needs to play simple instead of passing to his mate in the Centenary stand all the time. Downing has again been poor but was not a bad player at Villa. Carroll was a poor buy and I don't believe a target man is the way to play Premier League football, it's too easy to defend against. Hopefully there will be a clearout in the summer and some fresh faces in for the start of the season but we do not want to be like another Chelsea who sacks a manager every 5 minutes. Get behind the team and support the manager, we are not far away from some terrific results. We could do with signing 'lady luck'

For goodness sake, back the manager, the club and the current players. We are in a significantly better position than we were this time last year. Not considering the league or the cups. We nearly ended up going into administration and that says it all. Even if Dagliesh makes the wrong decision he will make it for the right reason. Although I admire Rafa, sometimes it was his personal agenda and ego that stiffled the club and did not help us move forward.

I'm still hearing from a footballing journalist friend in France that we are stepping up our interest in Eden Hazard. The club are not worried by his recent 'stepping stone' comments as this would fit with the clubs policy of buying younger players and then selling them on for healthy transfer fees/potential profit. DC has always maintained contact with both Lille and Hazard's representatives and is looking to make an early move to secure his services. Joe Cole is unlikely to be used as a make-weight in the deal (he may well transfer permanently to Lille but this will be a separate transaction) but Cole's being at Lille means there is constant communication between the clusb helping to foster good relations. Whether we will be Hazard's preferred destination remains to be seen. BigJanFan

Eds do you think there's any chance of getting Hazard in the summer? Or is it completely out of question? {Ed002's Note - Better than it was because other clubs are getting less and less interested in him but most unlikely to happen. Whilst Real Madrid or Barcelona remain his preferred destination PSG, Chelsea, Spurs, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are all interested to one degree or another. I said over the summer that I would not be surprised to see Manchester United through their hat in to the ring with Hazard as well. Chelsea have maintained a long-term interest but one particularly influential party at the club sees the player as having an attitude problem (primarily related to previously well-publised issues). However, Chelsea have recently discussed the player with Lille and a firm offer by Chelsea is still a possibility. Arsenal spoke with Lille before the last summer window and, I am told, proposed a "derisory number" and suggested taking the player would be a risk. Bayern Munich apparently remain very keen on Hazard but the player is seemingly not interested in a move to Germany. Inter would find the transfer fee too high and their only hope would be a part-ownership deal with some cash and a player or two moving to LIlle. Spurs are interested but may need the price to drop significantly to make a move viable. PSG would have the money available but again the player does not want such a move. I really don't see Hazard moving to Liverpool, Juventus, AC Milan or Arsenal for that matter, although with other clubs frustrated at his questionable attitude means it is getting harder to tell where he will end up so a move to pretty much anywhere cannot be completely ruled out. His constant speaking to the press and his recent statement that a move to England would be a stepping stone to Spain will make several clubs think twice about making an offer.}

Eds with the financial situation at rangers, do you think we might nip in with a bid for stevie naismith? I know he has some injury issues but was best player in spl before his injury and if he's available on the cheap could be worth a risk. he's young, pacy, can play on the wings or up front and a good finisher. Not a "marquee" signing but could be a decent squad player for very little outlay if things don't improve with rangers situation

thanks {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, sorry.}

Not good enough only Rangers player I would have is mcgregor as a number 2 if Doni leaves

Why would liverpool waste time and money on any Rangers players, we need to go forward with good players, not go backwards with players worse than what we have already

Naismith is easily rangers best player (not hard since him, mcgregor and davis are the only ones worth anything mind you) but he's no worse than henderson, downing, maxi or kuyt and if we could get him for 3 or 4 million would be a decent back up player. It doesn't mean i don't want us to be signing a hazard or a muniain etc but he's a decent option to be on bench especially if kuyt and maxi go in the summer and if we take advantage of the rangers situation and get him cheap then it leaves more money to sign bigger names. its just a thought :)

I'd bring him in as a backup squad player, definitely. As a Kilmarnock fan, I have watched him from a young age, and he's definitely got skill and a good footballing brain. It would take no more than £2M if Rangers' situation doesn't improve, and for that he's worth it as a backup to the 3 attacking positions. I'd also take a punt on Steven Davis if his wages were relatively low, consistent box to box midfielder for the squad, and would probably count as home grown?

Rugby Parker

I don't think Naismith is any better than what we already have at Liverpool. I wouldn't sell Kuyt, Rodriguez or Cole for that matter to bring in Naismith. I believe Gaston Ramirez, Diego Perotti, Luke De Jong are much better alternatives than Naismith.

He's nowhere near good enough

I can't help wondering, are the people who come on here whinging about the poor quality of signings we are reportedly interested in, the same people who suggest the likes of Naismith as a viable option?

Keep well clear of the spl unless its a player who has proven himself in another league, or an outstanding youngster with a bright future. the leagues is just not good enough at the mo. you would be better dipping in the league blow us for that type of player, prob cheaper too.

If my sources are to be believed there is one player definitely on list of kd and dc and he is m. isla and an offer of around 12 mil pounds may be enough to lure him away .
Definites out -
aurelio - out of contract
poulsen - terminated contract
aquilani - ac milan
j.cole - lille
konchesly - n.forest
probably out -
johnson - 90 k wages and if isla joins he is out
kuyt - a fantastic servant but maybe his time is served
probably in -
isla - 12 mil
marin-11 mil after euro's
slight chances -
luuk de jong , d.texeira and o.giroud.
Your thoughts eds .- mihir

You should ask your sources for the ins and outs of last year. Konchesky and Poulsen have already gone

Gaz {Ed002's Note - Poulsen has yet to completely depart.}

I 'm the happiest man on earth if luuk de jong join liverpool...

05 Mar 2012 08:25:24
In January macca suggested we were trying to sign a young forward from Italy! We all seemed to agree it was luc costaignos! Question is are we still interested? Possible for summer? Or have we moved on? {Ed002's Note - I think it would have been no more than a loan for Castaignos and I expect that the option may not be there in the summer. He has just been banned for spitting and that has upset Claudio Ranieri - who himself will be lucky not to be sacked real soon.}

HI eds

just a question might of already been answered. do you think Liverpool might bid for rvp in the summer as his form is brilliant at the moment and he is in the right age bracket for the club.

I know it is very unlikely he will sign but strange thinks could happen. {Ed001's Note - his injury record is likely to put us off, if we were in profit and could afford the risk I am sure it would be different though.}

See below post. A striker 150x more likely to happen.

It wu be a step backwards for rvp tbh.
Indian Buzzer

Step... backwards? but to be honest id rather go for luuk de jong. young, with so much potential.

Kaizer

What planet are some of you Liverpool fans on? A step backwards etc. If Van Persie were available then there is no better striker out there at the moment. Secondly why on earth would he come to a club who are currently destined for mid-table mediocrity. Many of you idiots say Alonso would be a step back. Oh and Luke De Jong he looks good, but so did Andy Carroll. Jeez this moneyball approach has really gone to the fans heads as well now. {Ed001's Note - there is no moneyball approach, obviously you have no clue what it is.}

Have u seen the league table why would he go to liverpool,

And wigan can sign suarez!!!

I'm a Liverpool fan but gotta say there's NO WAY we could attract Van Persie in the summer. Arsenal are looking destined for Champions League, whereas Liverpool look like they're gonna miss out. Aside from that, if he does become available, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea are all likely to be interested.

Why on earth would Van Persie come to LFC? We cannot offer him more the Arsenal! Messing up every game and not going away with the points we need. We cannot offer CL football to best players so I can't see any of these happening! And btw way King Kenny said we will not make big signings in the summer as he thinks the squad is god enough! Hmm???

Well NESV bought us for a song. If they think 20 m worldwide fans are all gonna keep buying £47 tickets and £50 shirts as things stand, then theyre in for a rude awakening.
For example:-
Xabi went for 30m. Adam came in for 6m. But ticket prices went up.
It was their job to repair the G&H damage. But they seem to be continuing this. {Ed002's Note - So you hold the owners responsible for selling Alonso a year before they arrived?}

Yes, so did Andy Carroll. but when Andy Carroll was scoring at Newcastle, it was mostly headers and long shots, am i right? sry didnt watch too much of Newcastle, but its not just about headers n long shots with luuk de jong. decent pace, can dribble abit. he is so different than Andy. Even compared with Andy's performance in Newcastle, id still take Luuk. fine Andy didnt reach our expectations, but just because he didnt, u cant just block other potentials? it does not mean every other player will have the same fate.

Kaizer

FAO Ed, ofcourse not. But it is their obligation to repair the damage of G&H.

Instead, they've shifted on the intended part replacement in Aqua. And not bought any full replacement.

All squads depreciate in value over time.
TV contracts and Asian merchandising etc keep bringing in more money. Yet NESV have NOT made an investment in our squad.
( Yes there was a net spend on players, but that was funded by lesser name players on lower salaries coming in).

We've got star players in Kuyt, Gerrard and Carra coming towards the end of their careers. Do u think NESV will stump up for top calibre replacements for these. Ofcourse not
Its just a cash cow to them. Increase the merchandising and hope they can sell on to someone else.
Fans? We're just mugs to them. {Ed002's Note - Still hoping for the Kenny Huang experience to wash across merseyside?}

Hi any chance of getting Mackay-Steven from Dundee united Only 21 and is very fast and skillful

Thankyou for all the responses to my question we as fans link every player to are club but who knows what will happen in the summer i would love rvp at anfield plus other players.

Hi Eds, do you know of any interest in Jordan Rhodes. Plain to see the lad is a clinical finisher is young with great movement and decent with his head too. Yeah he only plays in League but but he is such a natural goalscorer. 6 Mill approx?? {Ed001's Note - he has been looked at, but no more. Huddersfield were asking for more than 10m, hence why he stayed there in January. If they fail to get promotion, he will be available for a transfer, but if they go up he is very unlikely to move.}

04 Mar 2012 23:02:47
Any chance of Borja Valero ed? He's impressed me in the past for Vilareal, but is he not physically strong enough for this league (I think with West Brom?).

Really disappointed with the result yesterday, all I can bring myself to say about it is that it was undeserved..

maka
