Good evening,

Just a quick note to thank all Liverpool fans for their patience during the the last few months while we have sifted through the various bids. As mentioned from the start, this process was never going to be played out publicly to avoid distortion by the media, but we are now pleased to anounce that a preffered bidder has been chosen by the board.

Details will be anounced very soon via a press conference and a member of the consortium will be in attendance to answer questions directly.

It has been a tough few months for us with the pressure of making the right decision weighing heavily on our shoulders. But we feel we have made the right decision by selecting a candidate who will move the club forward both on and off the pitch.

Thank you and don't foget, YNWA. .

To blair mayne can you get snow patrol to do my house. And there will be real good news in the nxt few days about lfc. There are just a few thing to tie up and lfc will have new owners

I'll ask Snow Patrol mate as i'm pretty close to Gary Lightbody and he owes me a couple of favours as i cleaned his mum's car twice in June and July.

Hope you're right about new owners but i'm confused as a lot of people are saying we are getting new owners but not one has said who it is?

"MacKenzie repudiated this apology in November 2006, saying that he only apologised because the newspaper's owner Rupert Murdoch ordered him to do so. He said, "I was not sorry then and I'm not sorry now" for the paper's coverage. MacKenzie refused again to apologise when appearing on the BBC's topical Question Time on 11 January 2007"

Liverpool will swoop for Bayern Munich's out of favour striker Mario Gomez in the January transfer window, according to News of the World.

Reds manager Roy Hodgson was unsuccessful in his bid to land a big-name striker as cover for Fernando Torres during the summer transfer window, reportedly missing out on four attacking targets.

Bayern's Gomez was heading to Anfield on loan with a view to a potential £20m permanent deal in the summer but the deal fell through after the Bavarian giant's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.

As a result, Hodgson had less than 48 hours to try and snap up Carlton Cole, Bobby Zamora or Kevin Doyle. All bids were rebuffed by the players respective clubs though.

Liverpool will now wait until the New Year to secure Gomez, using Hodgson's unspent money from the summer tranfer kitty to conclude a deal.

Just thinking, But If Houllier gets the Villa job I'm guessing Warnock might feel he wants out. . Just putting 2+2 together but he has stated already that he doesn't want Houllier to get the job. I don't want him back and Liverpool myself but I know some people do, So What you think? Cheap. .Maybe. . English. . Yes, Make a great sub or starting XI player but with Konchesky and Aurelio?

WARNOCK IS A GOOD PLAYER BUT NOT QUITE GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE HIGHEST LEVEL - WARNOCK WAS REGULARLY 'CAUGHT OUT' AGAINST THE BEST LIKE CHELSEA AND MANUTD.
WE SHOULD NOW GIVE KONCHESKY OUR FULL SUPPORT.

I been reading some of the things written about micheal owen and im with the ed on this one owen is only intrested in one thing is micheal owen he forced his way out of liverpool because he said he wanted to win things and as he heard real were intrested he he forced our hand into getin his transfer by running down his contract! And then after sitting on the bench for real madrid and watcin us win the european cup guess who wanted to return to anfield, benitez wanted him but the price wanted by madrid was to much but instead of holding tight and waiting for a offer from lfc he signed for newcastle because they offerd him big wages now that for me is why i dislike mr micheal owen not because he signed for man utd that does not bother me , He will never be held in the same league as fowler because fowler did not want to leave he was SOLD and wanted to return to the club which he loved {ed's note - to be fair he practically begged to come back to Liverpool, he joined Newcastle because Rafa said no thanks. He was too stubborn to ever take Owen back, I think he was right as well, we would never have got Torres if Owen had returned and Torres is twice the player Owen ever was.}

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

There is no loan window for Premier League clubs. Do some homework, please.

He was too stubborn to ever take Owen back, I think he was right as well, we would never have got Torres if Owen had returned and Torres is twice the player Owen ever was.}

Let me tell you a story. . .
One day a Spanish manager walked into his new club and straight away saw the problem. . "a click" as he called it. . 4 English players, 3 of who were the only members left of the old spice boy group who single handedly allowed Manchester united to become the premierships dominant force for a decade with their own antics, And just as serious money started kicking in allowing Manchester united to become easily the premierships richest club
These players were Owen, Gerrard, Murphy & Carrager
These 4 were all sticking together like a sore thumb bullying and harassing the foreign players, some of their antics although laughable within scouse. in fact English humour, were considered extremely rude by other cultures. for example Diof was extremely annoyed by Carrager farting in his face!
This Rafa saw straight away as the rot within Liverpool as it took far more than just 4 players to make a team. .
So the decision was simple. . 2 were to go. . one low valued and one high valued to make an example to everyone!
out of the lesser players Danny Murphy's cards were marked keeping Carrager as Rafa was a big fan of English defenders (hence the reason the first player he wanted was Woodgate until put of by the high fee then turned to a Chelsea youngster John Terry for 5m until their new manager decided to keep him) This was a master-stroke as it was only after this period that Carra became the centre back he became. .
Out of the 2 better players well the choice was simple who could we recieve the highest fee for so as to help rebuild the squad. Gerrard was the man. but he refused to leave. so with only 1 year on his contract Rafa quickly sold Owen to Real. . so Rafa's legacy started. . .
So don't be to harsh on mr Owen. he probably did want to come back. . but Rafa wanted him on a very good deal for the club but with the tension and past between the two. . it never worked out that way. ./ /

InHisShadow {ed's note - that is simply not true, Owen was not forced out at all. He forced his way out, he had already made it clear that he was not going to sign a new contract, even though his current one had just a year left. Rafa came in and saw the club was short of forwards but Madrid had expressed interest in Owen, Rafa sat him down and asked him to stay and sign a new contract. Owen said he wanted to join Real Madrid 'to win things' and didn't want to wait till his contract expired because they would buy someone else and might not want him. There was a clique of English players, like you said, none of them were part of the Spice Boy lot at all though. Houllier cleared all of those out in his time at the club.}

Where exactly would Garcia play if he were to rejoin which is of course highly highly unlikely? We already have Gerrard and Cole to play behind Torres & Liverpool do need pace on the wings and Garcia doesn't have it unfortunately?

Don't get me wrong I'd love the guy back he was my favourite Liverpool player at the time but i just don't see the need or point.

My source had told me that Luis Garcia after the tesimonial yesterday said that he would love to go back to anfield.
Word of this reached Roy, and he is to make a move for Garcia in January on a 5 month loan. If he likes what he see's then Garcia could move to Anfield on a permanant deal.

red-m-a-n_00

why would panathanikos give him out on a 5 month loan having only signed him on a one year contract last month. .that makes no sence at all? ?

Roy, not saying you're wrong, but theres been so much speculation and misinformation that its all gotten very confusing.

Ed, could you clear this one up for everyone? IS it public knowledge that Barcap made 350m credit available for H+G? Also the bottom line- if true, how much longer does that mean they can hang on? Would this mean they can hang on after 6th Oct, or will the club escape from them no matter what they do? {ed's note - yes, but the news was in the statement regarding the sale of the club and so it was very much overlooked by the media.}

Ed, If RBS takes over at Liverpool. Will there be a 9-points deduction? It is being said that we would be save from that. . And do you think that we are gonna be taken over. Thanks. . {ed's note - if, and it is a huge, huge if, RBS took over, there would not necessarily be a 9 points deduction because the club would not be in administration as such. But it would be up to the FA to make a final decision on this and it could be that they decide to issue a points deduction to stop anyone else taking this route in the future.}

To the person who posted:
"LIVERPOOL will avoid a nine-point penalty if they fall under bank ownership next month.
The Premier League will approve an Anfield takeover by the Royal Bank of Scotland if co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet don't find a buyer or repay their debt by October 6. The RBS has had power to seize the club before but there were concerns about league sanctions. Fans feared that if the Americans defaulted on their loans the club would be plunged into administration, leading to a nine-point deduction.It looks therefore unlikely that there are any serious bids for the club on the boardroom table at this moment in time.
It seems that most potential investors are in fact biding their time until the club is absorbed by RBS and only then will they make an offer substancialy less than the £600 to £800 million that Hicks is looking for.
Indeed, if RBS do takeover Liverpool FC, the dreaded Yanks will end up with nothing, something we should all rejoice in."

Where did you get this from? its absolute rubbish. Can you explain to me why would RBS absorb LFC or had any power seize?? this would n't happen for the simple fact that Barcap have already made available 350m to the liverpool owners to pay the debts when ever they need it . . this is no secret, this have been in the public domain for few months now.
I would agree its a strong possibility there are no offers on the table that satisfy the lfc board (owners in particular) . and this sale may drag for a bit longer, however I would imagine Barcap will take over the loans (pay them) but then will start putting extra pressure on the owners to accept a lower price .

I keep hearing FACT this and FACT that. The reality is Liverpool have no substantial bids on the table. Chris Bascombe NOTW has inside knowledge of LFC dating back to his connections whilst working with the Liverpool Echo. The information about RBS has been leaked and is now been put out to us fans. May sound great but no finance will be available for new players we will be stuck. {ed's note - Bascombe has no inside knowledge of the takeover whatsoever.}

After the reception at Anfield Roy Hodgson is considering making a move for Luis Garcia in January. He like what he saw and saw how much the fans adored him. .he would be relatively cheap because of his age and Liverpool have good relations with Panthanaikos due to the various different dealings with them recently. .Eccestone might be sent on loan to replace him in Greece.

What is happening to this site, 3 rumour pages! only 3 rumours on page 1.
Is this just to drive clicks for advertising?

It's an International break but come next Wednesday we will probably be getting bought by Kirdi, Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Khalifa, Larry Ellison, QIA and whoever else people who say they work for Barcleys/ Barcap say are bidding for the club.

We will probably be buying in Jan Aguero, Turan, Dzeko, Mata and whoever else people who post on and say they seen them at John Lennon Airport.

I rememeber England beat Croatia 4 or 5-1 at Wembley and Johnson had at least 3 assits by good delivery into the box remember?

How many times has Johnson delivered for us?

Against Trabsponzor, he got a lucky touch, and from a good position he put in a ball that was turned in by a defender. Cole was unmarked at the time.

We should buy players for a position that they play in. Heskey bought striker, ended up LEFT MIDFIELD, The Spitter, bought striker ended up RIGHT MIDFIELD, Kuyt bought striker ended up RIGHT MIDFIELD. Johnson?

Few other clubs do this.

Disagree with you about his delivery on his day Johnson is as good as anyone at crossing.

Blair Mayne YNWA

We agree to differ. I personally think he does not know when to deliver the ball. Like Hanson said about Walcott, he lacks a football brain.

But who would you prefer at Right midfield, Glen or Adam? and before you answer where would you have spent the rest of £10 million by buying Adam.

Dirks Engine Room {ed's note - I would rather have Johnson as a left winger myself.}

Would love A.Johnson for the left wing and still keep G.Johnson right wing would also love Torres and Messi up front. But that's all IF's and But's the reality is we havn't got A.Johnson we have G.Johnson and tyring to find out were to play him (to quote the great Shakespeare) That is the question.
