This may keep your pallet hydrated red fans.

Liverpool have in the past month checked out Mehmet Ekici but looked to have opted on signing Gotze ahead. Jonas Hector, Timo Horn and Kevin Volland are also being strongly targeted as Liverpool prepare for summer recruitment.

Can also confirm Skrtel will leave in the summer. I'm sure there will be more added to the list as time progresses.

Ekici is not very good. I would rather an injury prone gotze to be honest. Volland is someone I could get excited about. Horn, Volland and Hector would be tremendous acquisitions and be an upgrade on Moreno, Migs and Ibe.

Hope we do not go into another transition season due to too many changes.

I've heard the same about Goetze and Hector. More specifically, Liverpool have been weighing up Goetze's injury record.

Gotze and Volland? I have to say that would give us mouth watering options in attack. Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Gotze, Volland, Lallana, Ings, Ibe and Origi. That is 9 players competing for a maximum of 4 spots though. I think it would be goodbye to Sturridge if this is the case. For all Lallanas haters, he is happy to fight for a place, works like a trojan, and has finally added goals and assists to his game with 5 goals and 8 assists already this season despite being in and out the side.

Sturridge on the other hand will not be impressed with having to compete for places (see his time at Chelsea for proof), is stil a massive liabilty in terms of fitness and doesn't press at all. Firmino, Coutinho, Gotze and Volland would probably be the first choice quartet. Ings, Ibe, Origi and Lallana will all happily fight for gametime. Sturridge, Benteke, Balotelli and Sinclair are all in the same category though as they seem to think they deserve to start every game and be pandered to. None of them try hard enough on the pitch. I can't see Klopp putting up with players who won't put a shift in.

Volland is a very good player.

I might be mistaken but haven't the Eds said that Liverpool haven't shown any interest in gotze nor made contact with BM? Why do people continue to assume we are signing him? I don't get it.

Some people just lv a name. How many heard of Xavi Alonso or Sami hypia before we bought them?

The eds are not always right, they give good info but get plenty of things wrong, Some people hang on every thing they say on here.

Hmasson2-Xabi Alonso was a Spain international and had just played for Spain in the Euros, everyone who has a decent interest in football should have known who he was.

Also, he was one of the revelations of that season 02/ 03 when a wildly unheralded Real Sociedad team with Nihat, Darko Kovacevic, and Oscar De Pedro (great left foot) ran Real Madrid of Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Raul and the galacticos all the way till the end for the La Liga title before succumbing at the tail end of the season. Alonso was NO way an unknown player.

With Athletico looking unlikely to be able to do business with Chelsea for Costa this summer, do the eds know if there is any substance to the stories that they may be looking to benteke as an alternative?
I don't believe the quoted newspaper figures for a second but just wondered if they would be a likely buyer?

Believable0 Unbelievable17

{Ed001's Note - I have not heard of any interest from them.}

Hey ed001, I just saw on the Arsenal page that you think that it's "more than likely" we will go after Mkhitaryan in the summer. Has there been any interest shown as of yet and would you personally like to see him join?

Believable1 Unbelievable14

{Ed001's Note - are you sure you read that correctly?}

06 Apr 2016 14:42:21
Cant see it myself, I think he will more than likely end up at Arsenal.

Agree1 Disagree12

{Ed001's Note - and I never said anywhere that he would likely end up with us.}

the player himself is not a big fan of klopp, so that in itself makes it a non starter.

Dags said that a certain Mr Klopp would be interested and you said more than likely ed. Have a mid read something here?

Agree1 Disagree12

{Ed001's Note - being interested and moving for him are two different things.}

06 Apr 2016 16:52:27
Oh okay, thanks for clearing that up ed and apologies for the misunderstanding.

Agree1 Disagree14

{Ed001's Note - teams will have interest in hundreds, but only a tiny proportion of those will ever be moved for mate. I really wouldn't get your hopes up on him, sadly.}

07 Apr 2016 03:15:29
Mkhitaryan cost like 25mil pounds when Dortmund bought. Now will be nearer to 40mil if Dortmund sell as he is integral part of their team. No. dun think klopp will pay that price. Zielinski though. is different proposition.

We are supposedly close to signing Holland u16 international abdallah aberkane from ado den Haag. He plays centre back and full back. Liverpool scouts have been tracking him for quite a while and hope to have a deal secured before summer window.

Great!
Stick him in the ressies for a season, send him out on loan for a few seasons then let his contract expire.

Routine LFC youth recruitment.

Just to add to Ron. and they will flourish once they play for another team like Suso.

Ron. we should really be a bit more optimistic that klopp will change the way things have been in the past. he has said himself that he doesn't like the way we have used our loan system and constantly send kids away in the hope they make giant leaps in there development. chin up mate.

Thing is while I appreciate the reasons for looking at and bringing in all these youngsters with potential we're still not addressing 2 key problems. 1. The experienced players at the club don't have the ability to drag the team into better levels and 2. we've a poor record of developing talent to full potential. Until the squad has the kind of leaders who will bring on the players around them I'm not sure that the owners' aims of buying young is anything more than investing in future sales for a small profit. (And we're not even that good at that) .
