Media reports link us with Dayot Upamecano will be some price tag for that one. Werner linked again aswell can't see RBL allowing 3 key players to depart in one go!

Maybe we're finally moving on from using Southampton as our feeder club :P.

Maybe he was born in Southampton?
Or he was conceived in Southampton?
There has to be a connection somewhere.

Ed if Emre is now out injured could we look at recalling Grujic as an option?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - no.}

06 Apr 2018 11:00:36
Cheers ed. Is that because of the terms of the loan with Cardiff or simply because it would be a panic move and not needed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the rules were changed. You can't do recalls. Though, from what I have seen of the lad there, he is simply not good enough and so would be a huge mistake.}

06 Apr 2018 11:17:42
Ok mate majes sense, I didn't realise that is the rules now. I guess we wait for the news on Emre. Could well be Hendo Milner Ox and Gini as the only midfield options for the remainder of the season. Do you have an idea of any U21 or U23 players that are good enough to step up?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - any of them should be, or they should not be in the academy system.}

06 Apr 2018 11:23:51
Is it too late to call Stevie G or Alonso out of retirement more like lol. Is it right in saying that for our midfield 3 we have the following
Lallana - injured (unknown duration)
Can - injured (unknown duration)
Milner - fit
Hendo - Fit (suspended CL)
Ox - Fit
Wijnaldum - Fit
Grujic - on loan.
Plus then the youngsters.

can we bring keita in now?

haha. I love this aye. adversity, challenges, always intrigued to see how we respond to it. Ox, Milner, Gini over to you now.!

imagine woodburn if fit makes the bench in Hendo's absence and if Gomez isn't yet fit? Altho I wonder if Klopp will turn to Clyne? Imagine Clyne coming on then we push TAA into his rightful midfield position to provide the legs to carry us to the semi.!

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Apr 2018 12:51:23
Losing Can and Hendo for the next leg is a big blow. I think Gini, Milner and Ox can bring it home though.

The problem with our midfield has always been when Hendo gets injured, we really need to fix this next season.

Can could be back as Ed said he was in training but not ready for the city game.

Agree3 Disagree1

06 Apr 2018 13:27:12
SGred, if hendo gets injured we've got Can. but he injured too. most teams won't the luxury of 3 starting quality players for a position!

Firmino could work in midfield with Ings having a stab up front? Ings has looked like he’s been drinking rocket fuel since returning.

06 Apr 2018 17:29:48
I can't think of anyone in our under 23's who could step up into that position (regrettably) and on paper a midfield of Milner, Wijnaldum and Ox doesn't look like it has the discipline or defensive nous to work. But then again after Wednesday, anything is possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2018 20:11:08
I agree Faith - but while we would normally have Can there and I do really like him, I don’t think even he has been able to fix the problems this team has when Hendo is out. He doesn’t move the ball quickly enough and is not quite disciplined enough defensively (yet) IMO.

We really need a top player able to cover Hendo given the position is so critical to the system.

Milner, Ox, Wiz. The front three won't be looking to score as much and will be able to absorb a lot of that pressure and counterattack. I think Can will make it, but if he doesn't, I'd try TAA or Moreno there as a last resort.

4/ 5 players will come in, in summer imo. An experienced GK (handanovic would be my pick but heard rumours of Casillas), a RB my pick would be meunier from PSG, top player, CM/ deep lying midfielder my pick would be Jorginho or ndidi, we’ll probably get cabellos and then finally another winger my pick would be Leon Bailey can play both sides and is a real quality player.

Outs likely to be Mignolet, Ward, Clyne, Can, Milner/ Lallana (or both), Sturridge, Origi and then a loans for Grujic (wouldn’t mind seeing him play but he likely won’t make it with us now), Ejaria, Woodburn, Masterson (who replaces Klavan the season after) . This would leave us with a team that could challenge on all fronts. I’m lookibg forward to the rest of this season and am absolutely buzzing to see us challenge next season! YNWA.

There's no chance Klopp will get rid of Lallana, Milner or Clyne this summer. Also we aren't looking at Handanovic or Casillas at the moment. Everyone knows Alisson is the top target with Jack Butland an secondary option if we fail in our pursuit of him. Football fans have very short memories, Lallana was probably our best player last season, he set the tone for the press most games and Milner has been fantastic for us plus can cover so many positions why get rid? RB is one of the last places we need to strengthen, sure Clyne was injured most of the year but again he's still one of the best RB's in the PL, Gomez and TAA as back ups is perfect.

08 Apr 2018 11:40:48
Based of what the Ed’s have said Clyne probably will be leaving as Klopp wants rid. Both Lallana and Milner will want regular football and one will likely play less than they want so one of them will likely leave. I agree with you when you say Clyne is one of the better rb in the league but based of what’s been said I expect him to go. As for the gk position I don’t feel we need to go out and sign a new number one I thinks Karius is good enough I just think he needs an experienced keeper with him to help him improve hence I suggested handanovic and Casillas (who has been linked with us in papers) I would rather we signed an experienced gk than Alisson or butland.

{Ed002's Note - If you are a Manchester City fan.}

Another terrible move for the player imo. Wasted 5 seasons being a rotational player at Real and not improved one bit since winning the Golden Boy award. Best of luck to him trying to displace KDB or Silva from the starting lineup. Man City hoarding up all the talent that they can get their hands on.

reports are that City have dropped interest in him.

Silva is in twilight of his career. Isco will be his replacement. In two years time Silva will be phased out with isco being a focal point along with kdb.

Isco is a very good player imo and featured inside the top 10 ACM of Ed01’s list. He is skillful and has a superb vision to pick players. He would excel under any manager. Better than Bale on any day!

Isn't Silvas partner still out in Spain and I think his newly born baby had some kind of complications. I wouldn't be surprised to see Silva go back to Spain this summer to be with his family.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was a premature baby wasn't it? He has always said he wants to go back to Spain to end his career.}

06 Apr 2018 11:13:02
Ed01 I think so mate. I didn't want to guess as it's obviously a personal matter. I think City might let him go back on his terms as a thank you for his service as long as it's not to a Real or Barca. His head hasn't looked with it since the birth and who could blame him. But that's just my 2 pence worth.

My little boy Toby was born 10 weeks early, he can out at 3lb 2 and went down to 2b 11. He was in an incubator for 4 weeks, then in care for a further three weeks.

I was working away in London at the time and was only back at weekends to see him. It’s was the most stressful period of my life so if Silva’s wife is back in Spain, I understand how he feels.

Toby had a bleed on his brain, was deaf in one ear
and one of his eyes were not functioning correctly. Thankfully all the problems corrected themselves while he was in hospital and he’s now a feisty little 4 year old and has fully caught up.

If I had the opportunity to speak to David Silva I’d tell him keep strong and have faith. The work the Neonatal Nursers do and their absolute commitment and professionalism to their job is fantastic.

If it wasn’t for the nurses, I wouldn’t be enjoying my gorgeous son today and taking him to Little Kickers in his LFC football kit ion a Saturday morning.

The Mirror is reporting that Emre Can is out for the season and possibly will miss the World Cup as well. Any truth to this?
