Read earlier that the PL are in advanced talks with the Government about starting playing the matches again in June. Not sure if this is the case or it's BS but would be good news. As long as it's safe to do so.

LFC have reversed their furlough decision and apologised.

Crazy that we even went there. So much for being a club of leftism, workers rights, Bill Shankley, etc. A club that spends literally hundreds of millions on transfers in a single month can't pay their own workers through a pandemic? Deeply disappointing and the apology isn't good enough.

What else are they supposed to do? There is no reason why the apology wasn't good enough. You wouldn't tell a child who apologises for their mistakes that their apology isn't good enough. At least the club recognised what a catastrophic error of judgement it was and did the right thing.

It's been missed in this argument but socialism does fall back on the state to pay workers in times of hardship.

Not that I disagree with the point we're big enough to look after our own and should do.

Socialism means the state takes care of you. So actually LFC did do the socialist thing.

In this case, socialism wasn't the right thing to do.

Ed002, do you see transfer fees lowering when this all blows over?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - At the lower levels yes, there is no doubt spending will be less. Then there are higher fees for English sides charged by many clubs. The clubs who are in considerable debt (like Atletico) will need to horse trade and sell. The higher profile Italian sides will continue to look to trade players as much as they can. The clubs who get relief from FFP should look to shoring up their finances rather than spending otherwise they could be in a worse position going forward (this includes the likes of Milan, Marseille and a couple of EPL sides). The clubs who are in a comfortable position (so most of the English PL sides, Barcelona) will look to key targets in the main, then will look to selling to buy. The handful of cash rich sides should be in a good position to cherry pick what they want - but may well try and limit spend. Overall expect a few expensive moves but a lower total spend than recent years.}

Ed002. Wow, what an insight. Thank you.

Well, it's not just insight. It's a prediction, based on insight.

Let's see how it pans out this summer and let's all salute Ed002 if his predictions are correct.

So. The Atlantic reporting that FIFA are going to extend the deadline for Leagues to complete the 19/ 20 season indefinitely. The priority seems to be that leagues should finish the season in progress before starting new seasons.
