New Liverpool owner has publicly stated that he has no intention to replace Roy Hodgson, saying that giving him the sack would be unfair. He also says that Roy Hodgson did not inherit the current team.

Source: BBC Sport Radio Interview (see website)

As a result you will see Reina, Johnson, Agger and Torres leave in the summer. I personally find this funny, the new owner giving an excuse of inheriting a poor team, yet Pardew and Kean inherited teams and have progressed more than Hodgson has done. Sadly Liverpool are now in a relegation battle and huge team investment and a new manager is required in order to turn things around. To make matters worse Manchester Utd are to over take Liverpools historic record of 18 titles.

p.s i was the fan who painted hodgson out, i've now got 16 cans of spray paint so when they remove it i can replace it!

I deliberately slept late this morning in full expectation that I'd start my day with the great news of Hodgson's dismissal. How is it possible that he still has a job? The owners must realise that, as they themselves represented a new broom when they swept into the boardroom, that they now must weild that broom before the dressing room crumbles.

SpanishChris

Think its already gone. . .they arnt playing for each other, they arnt talking on the pitch, hardly any movement.

I have this gut feeling that Rangnick will be the new manager come next week.

* A manager in the Arsene Wenger mould (who NESV admire)

* Focuses on bringing younger players through (what NESV want)

* Plays attacking football (what everyone wants!)

* He is available and interested! (no componsation to pay!)

Watch this space. . .

Hi Ed,
what about kenny dalglish as manager, Chris Hughton as no 2 with a view to chris taking over in a couple of years with jamie Carragher as is no 2 , clear out the dead wood Konchesky, Poulson
Greek, Lucas and a few more , get 4 new players in(honda , Young, Adebayor, aguero)

and give the young guns a chance( Suso, Pacheco, Ecclestone, Amoo, Irwin, Ince etc)

Dalglish doesn't get back from his Dubai cruise until Monday. Coincidence that it is after the Utd game that {sorry for this} we will probably loose.

Dalglish to be appointed Tuesday morning with Hodgson leaving Monday at 12pm.

So hodgson stays for one more game,
looking like its more of the same.
his style of play is just no good,
so the team can't play as well as it could.
we sit too deep so we can't attack,
and we're really dodgy at the back.
i have lost all belief in this man,
but im certainly not the only fan.
time to go roy, call it a day,
just say goodbye and walk away.

I think Liverpool will need a massive overhaul if we are to get back to being one of the big boys in England.
Ins-Taiwo, Cahill, Van Der Wiel, Elia, Marveaux, Honda and Llorente
Outs-Insua, El Zhar, Aqualani, Babel, Johnson, Skrtel and Poulsen

I work as a builder and other jobs at melwood (been fixing a leak in the kitchens at the moment) and as i was walking to the toilets past a few of the gyms etc. i heard Roy Hodgson apologising to a man in a suit (he had a quiet voice, could of been John Henry or Tom Werner as it sounded american from what i could hear). I didn't hang around outside as it would look rather odd and i don't like eavesdropping. Well, as i was walking down the corridor and turning into the loos he passed with his head dropped and sighing with a suitcase and large briefcase, and climbed into a very nice and shiny 4x4.

Hope that helps ;)

This ones for you ed bout michael laudrup.

After ending his playing career, Laudrup took up coaching, and became assistant manager of the Danish national team. He got his first manager job at former club Brøndby in 2002, whom he guided to the 2005 Danish Superliga championship. He chose not to extend his contract with Brøndby in May 2006. He subsequently took over as coach of Getafe, Madrid's third club, and continued his coaching career with notable success there. He brought the club comparative success in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Cup, and the team's attacking style brought plaudits.

those words attacking style is what i like agree ed?DORSET RED {ed's note - that is exactly why I wanted him in the summer and I still want him now. Add that to him being a Liverpool fan and a name that would command respect where ever he goes and it does seem like an almost perfect choice.}

I heard it.He said Liverpool were not a big club anymore, and that we won the CL in 2005 by default! Exact words.

Was great when Aldo turned up on the phone to put him straight, reminding him that we are still among the top 5 supported teams in the world, with a season ticket waitlist of 100,000!

Idiot. He's the guy who got sacked by Fulham and was replaced by Hodgson, who improved their side! What does that say about him?!?! !

I was just gettin told of a close friend of gerrards that stevie had a long conversation with roy after last nights game .their talk was in a car as they travelled back to liverpool seperate from the rest of the squad so they could talk about the problems the side are in and how they could solve it.apparently stevie told roy we are desperate for a new striker as both he and roy don't think ngog is up for it.a new winger was mentioned and then roy got a phone call telling him to report to melwood at 9am friday morning for a meeting .thats 90 minutes before the players arrive.apparently roy turned to stevie and said im f* *ed they want to see me on friday. the rest of the journey was in silence. but stevie likes roy and maybe thinks he needs time and money, but by the looks of things we will never know

()()

06 Jan 2011 21:51:31
I don't know why but im a fan that when roy inevitably gets pushed through the trap door (sooner rather than later) would like to see Jamie Redknapp as manager. I don't know why but it's more hope than expectation !

What do you think Ed ? {ed's note - please no!}

This is what Huth said about the SSN reports that we were after him

Huth, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, told The Sentinel: "I've heard nothing from Liverpool.

"I have a contract with Stoke. I am sure they are happy with what I am doing, and I am also happy.

"Being relegated is never nice, so it is great Stoke gave me the chance to come back. I am happy that, apart from suspension, I have played in every game."

Chairman Peter Coates has confirmed the Potters are not planning to sell the 26-year-old.

He said: "We know nothing about it and, besides, he is very much a player we want to keep. We don't have to sell."

Like i said many times SSN talk sh*t sometimes especially when it comes to LFC.

I heard John Aldridge on radio 5 today saying that Whiskey Nose called Torres a cheat after we played the s* t earlier this season. Hodgson didn't come out and defend him and its for this reason Torres has spat the dummy and looks disinterested. Is here anything in this? Any comments Ed? {ed's note - it certainly hasn't helped, they weren't exactly on the best terms to start with and Roy got that completely wrong. He created the rift between them, but I am not convinced that it is the whole reason for his performances. Most of it is down to lack of service, he needs better service or there is nothing he can do.}

I just wanted to react to something that was said by one of the ed's yesterday about Frank Rijkaard. Pardon me if I misuderstood, but the idea of NESV not being keen on Rijkaard because he is a Rastafarian seemed to be conveyed. One of the arguments was that NESV as Americans might be reluctant to appoint a man whose private life might be a source of embarassement. honestly, I could not disagree more. Firstly, Rijkaard has managed (and -even more importantly- played for) national and club teams with some success. Although his time at Barcelona was by far the best in his career, he has shown a tendency to play attractive football and to get along with his players (Eto'o and Ronaldinho aside, but both are ego-maniacs who clash with all their managers). Even if I disliked him as a player -I was born in Belgium, so it's normal- I cannot recall any scandal involving Rijkaard the manager. Yes, he had a messy divorce, an issue with his daughter, but besides that there is nothing. Now, any man in this business is bound to have skeletons in, his closet (Paul Jewel, Avram Grant, Diego Maradona, Harry Redknapp, Sam Allardyce, etc.), but if the most qualified, available candidate is a rasta then you have to hire him. Personally, I don't believe the argument against Rijkaard makes sense. Of course, I am not in the know; but I don't think Rijkaard is being disqualified because of that.

Canadian Fan {ed's note - you clearly are missing the point! It is not his religion as such, but a facet of the religion is the partaking of certain substances. NESV do not want a manager who does that. If you still don't understand what I mean then I can't help you any more sorry!}

Hello, love this site. I actually play for Liverpool, but obviously I can't tell you who I am, but let me tell you all now that Roy will be gone by tomorrow night. we've heard whispers that we could have a full-time manager in place the 14th Jan. We didn't really see the boss in training today, he was in the main office for the majority of training. Which is very unusual. He greeted us and that was it, more or less. He was very distant. Stevie tried to have a chat with him but Roy said it would have to wait as he was extremly busy. Also there will be no big signings this month. It dosen't look good at the moment, but hopefully Dani and myself and few of the lads might get more playing time under new management.

Ed? Ive been reading these posts for the last 2 hrs, u seem certain that we will not get rijkaard (or oneil), im just wondering how u can seem so certain, do u know something we don't mate or are u basing it on the fact they been available for a while so would have got one of them by now if we were gonna

p.s (i wrote the post regarding rijkaard taking over now and using the rest of the season to sort out)
i did leave my name but wasnt on post lol

Bran {ed's note - O'Neill was ruled out after a chat with Randy Lerner about what kind of manager he is and how he conducts himself, apparently. Rijkaard was ruled out because Americans are prudish about things that the Dutch think are a normal part of daily life, if you get my drift.}

"I was thinking and would any liverpool fan have carlo anceloti he would be good with tactics and transfers and said he would love to manage steven gerrard and torres"

Just like one of the Ed's said, he may be a good manager, but the time is right for Liverpool to be patient and ensure that only someone who is good AND plays the "Liverpool brand" of football is the next to manage this greatest of clubs.

Evening all the reds & the ed's?

(please Post these ed's and hopefully this will happen tonight)thought it make us laugh?, after all we we've not had much to smile about with roy, i ve changed a few lyrics to these famous songs.

John waite(missing you) & Black Eyed Peas( i got a feeling)

(To the tune of missing you)

Every time I think of you(roy)
I always lose breath
And your still standing there
And you're miles away
And I'm wondering why you haven't left
And there's was a storm raging in the
(Blackburn Dressing Room) last night

I hear your name, in certain circles roy
And it always makes me Cry
I spend my time, thinking about you
And it's almost driving me wild
And there's a heart that's breaking
Down this long distance line tonight(boston, Roy to NESV)

we ain't missing you at all (Kop Fans)
Since we want you out, away
we ain't missing you
No matter, what the media might say

There's a message, in the wires
And the kop is sending you this signal tonight
You don't know, how desperate we've become
And it looks like Roy's losing this fight
In your world we have no meaning
Though we are not trying to understand (backing He's Not had)
And it's Roy's heart that's breaking
Down this long distance line tonight (boston, Roy to NESV)

we ain't missing you at all
Since we want you out, away
we ain't missing you
No matter, what the media might say

And there's a message that the kop sending out
Like a telegraph to your soul
And if you can't stop these bad results
Stop this heartbreak overload

we ain't missing you at all
Since we want you out, away
we ain't missing you
No matter, what the media might say
we ain't missing you, the kop aint missing you
roy you can't lie to yourself
And there's was a storm raging in the
Blackburn Dressing Room) last night
we aint missing you at all
Since we want you out, away
we ain't missing you,
No matter, what the media might say
Aint missing you
We ain't missing you, we aint missing you
roy can't lie to yourself
we ain't missing you
we aint missing you(To the tune of i got a feeling)

I gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be roy's last night
That tonight's gonna be roy's last night
That tonight's gonna be roy's last night
Tonight's the night(He Gets the sack)
Let's live it up
I got my money & My beer
Let's spend it up
Let's live it

(Please post it ed's it will at least make people smile & they will sing it 2morrow if it happens).
Thanks

To the person who said roy is off to turkey to sign a player.

cut the crap. he wouldn't need 3 bags to go to turkey to sign a player. He has gone but NESV only made desicion a couple of hours ago and want to announce it tommorow in a news conference.

Sammy Lee will take training tmorow and Oneil or Dalglish to be named as manager till summer,

Not much point in telling posters like this that they're talking nonsense and that if they knew anything about football and LFC they wouldn't say it. . .but heck I'm going to say it: MON will never take over LFC - watch and see! {ed's note - if Betfair were running a book on the next Liverpool manager I would put every penny I could that neither Rijkaard nor O'Neill will be the next man in.}

A lot of ex-players seem to be saying that Roy will survive. Do they know something we don't?

I honestly can't believe how he hasn't been fired yet. If this drags on for the whole transfer period we are well and truely screwed. It's already gone on too long! Who'd want to jump on the Liverpool ship now when results are poor and everyone left, right and centre are slating the manager?

We're in a relegation battle! It's heartbreaking.

a few games lol, , more like 9 and that's in such a small space of time, , 9 overall is bad but 9 in 6 months is even worst, , , specially when one day they can be great then all of a sudden they crap again and then lose lose lose, ,

Just wanna make a comment regarding the timing of Roy Hodgsons "sacking". Do u reds fans think that NESV are thinking sensibly about when to pull the trigger, the game against the Mancs at mold trafford is just 3 days away. If he goes tonite or tomorrow, how are the players gonna b in the rite frame of mind to prepare for that game? As much as i wud like to see Roy go ASAP, I wud love to beat them mancs more, and so would most liverpool fans, so maybe the announcement will not b made until after that game. The flip side to this argument is would we b more likely to beat the mancs WITH or WITHOUT Roy? Bel if u think WITH
Unbel if u think WITHOUT

I read this site daily but this is my first post. .
Ive been a liverpool fan for 29yrs and never seen the team play as badly as we are at the moment (even under souness). This is what i think should happen - and it makes very good sense.
Sack Roy now and get Rikaard in. The league is a write-off this season now, so it would give Rikaard the rest of the season to sort through the players he wants/ doesn't want. He can impose his style of play on the team now, so in the summer, we can buy some better quality players to fit in with that system and start the new season with a bang. Then, we wouldn't have to wait until november/ december to see Rikaards influence on the team - like we would if we waited until the summer to appoint him. Rikaard is my personal choice of manager but this idea would work with whoever the manager was if we could get him now, but the better ones are not gonna be available untill summer. Please can i have some comments on this idea or click, bel if u agree - unbel if you dont. .thanx folks

This would be my dream outcome! So it probably aint gonna happen but very good call mate!

Stop the Elia Rumours. They were stupid to begin with! I would have rather N'Zogbia any day of the week. He's got 2 goals this season and 0 assists (assists is what he's known for and he's got new capable strikers at Hamburg). Being a scouse I also support Hamburg because a lot of my family lives there and went to see the T&T-England game in Germany as well. Whats the love for Elia?? Turan, Gamst Pedersen, Downing, Giggs, Malouda N'Zogbia, Bale even Brunt, Matty Taylor, Stephen Hunt are all better than this guy! He's got a few tricks and can cross well with his Left, but why spend 15-20mill on a player who will never control his game! I'd rather stick a "raw" Tom Ince or Sterling out there and let them learn! We've got great young talent coming to patrol that Left side in a couple of years (also Tony Silva) and we've been begging Rafa and now Roy to get a LW there with NOTHING happened in over 5-6 years! Actually since Patrick Berger! so why do we drool over the Elia's and David Silva's of the world? Come on 'Pool fans. .STOP GOING ON MEDIA SPECULATION. . Drive good IMPACT players on these websites! When you say K.Honda. .I agree, eventhough he plays Midfield! (He could also play as a second striker if need be!. Just like our 30 somthing Stevie!). .So Elia wants to be in ManU, Barca, Chelsea. .then I say GO! Honda, Turan, N'Zogbia wants to be with Liverpool FC, then why do we hunt less passionate players?? ELIA is a waste of time and doesn't need to be with us!

Commoli better understand what 12th place feels for us 'Pool fans! It's like a nasty nagging headache that doesn't go away! He needs to understand that we need 3-4 IMPACT players (Honda, Mertesacker, Turan/ N'Zogbia and Toivonen/ Adebayor) this window and need to rid of (Jovanovic[like him, but he's not playing], Babel, Aquilani, Skrtel or Agger, and cash in on Glen Johnson, because honestly, if he's not played as a winger then we CANNOT continue with him at RB! ), also Lucas (only played may be 3-5 o.k. to good games this season! )

P.S. NESV. Stop with the Red Sox at the moment and pull Roy into your office and let him go! !. like. .yesterday for goodness sake! In the KING we Trust. .
SIM THE RED. .

Ed, don't forget someone else posted their mate said 10pm tonight or 10am tomorrow too. This has almost gotten as bad as "my mate said an Indian billionaire will place a bid for LFC", "my uncle's gardener is the gardener for the Prince of Persia whose cousin will be partners in a conglomourate to purchase the club", etc.

Whats he ever done? I don't get that one at all mate. Be fantastic to se us bring in a proven goal scorer. Id personally like to see Darren Bent at Liverpool but i don't think you'll see that happening any time soon.

Aparently we are in talks with David Santon from Inter (source: lfc.tv)
Which would pave way for Glen Johnson to join Real Madrid (source: bbc.co.uk/ football)

Similar sort of players from when ive wat ive watched of him, obviously Santon has 4 years on Glen. Whats your thoughts?

I would go into the whole "Hodgson Out" and "Hodgsons bags" but i think enough has been said on the matter and we should just wait and see the outcome

Fenway Sports are waiting until the mancs and blue noses are out of the way before pulling the plug on Roy. King Kenny will steer the ship with Ian Rush next to him but only up until the summer when a fresh faced contintal manager will be brought in. Fenway don't want Dalglish to be given a baptism of fire against the septics but are bowing to pressure from the fans and he will be our caretaker boss from Jan 17. Believe.

Like everyone else I have been waiting for news to break saying Roy has gone but before everyone starts slagging nesv I think we should all take a step back and be prepared to give them some time, the last thing we need is another knee jerk reaction with a short term fix. The next man appointed manager has to be right one and has to be a man who is willing to go back to the Liverpool style of play ( passing and moving ) the only thing that has kept my faith in football the last 6 months has been watching Barcelona, they should be the role model so I don't want to hear anymore about Martin O Neill or any other long ball merchants coming to this club its time we got back to our original philosophy, thank god Rudolfo Borrell is in charge of the academy this should give us hope for the future.

I posted yesterday and thankyou for putting my post up but unfortunately all I predicted is right I said we will be slow to react to transfers and Fergie will prounce on our targets and he has Manure are looking at Elia. Again we are not reacting fast enough, why do we not put an offer in for Bentley for Gods sake he is not playing well becoz redknapp does not like him but he is better than what we have .He looks like he is going to Newcastle who are reacting fast and once again we will buy the scum or leftovers of the transfer window. Please LFC BOARD WAKE UP IF YOU CAN'T DECIDE ON ROY AT THE MOMENT PUT IT ASIDE AND SIGN THE DECENT PLAYERS HOW MANY SEASONS DO YOU NEED TO LEARN YOUR LESSON.YOU SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT THE POOR SOULS WHO MADE IT TO BLACKBURN WHO STOOD IN THE COLD TO WATCH A DISMAL PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT, MAYBE IF YOU LOT SITTING IN YOUR FANCY OFFICES WERE TO PART WITH HARD EARNED MONEY FOR A PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT AND FROZE A BIT MAYBE THEN WHAT ALL US FANS ARE SAYING WILL SINK IN.

Ed i mentioned other day that carlos vela would be a great addition, ive read on the bbc sports page that valencia are keen to loan him with a veiw to a 2m permanant deal in the summer. surely we should be looking to put a 3m bid on the table now. gotta be better than the very average floro flores.
any news on elia, seems to have died down.
imo untill a decision on the manager is made no transfers will be made, its a similar situation to the jova deal, a rafa signing, not liked by roy and a very expensive (wages) sub on the bench!
these are the mistakes that the club can no longer afford to do.

Personally I'd love to see Dalglish to the end of the season, to keep us fans happy!

Elia is leaving Hamburg, whether he'll join us we don't know. Wigan have also expressed an interest but lets not worry about them, they're crap.
Marveux is leaving Marseille confirmed by their Chairman, hopefully sign for us soon.

NESV are known in the States for getting transfers done behind closed doors, so don't be suprised for another Meireles like deal this Jan.

To the guy who said this:

"Hi, Im Paul Konchesky's Nephew and he has said that although he knows he hasnt been playing at all well this season, he thinks it is ridiculous the amount of abuse some players (inc. himself) are being given but he thinks the gaffer is being treated 'extremly unfairly'. However despite this Paul has said before the Press Conference tomorrow, Roy will call a meeting with the staff and players to wish them all the best for the rest of the season and will apologise for not being able to help the club in the way he intended to after the mess he picked up from Rafa. When the Press Conference starts he will apologise the same to the fans and will then announce that he has been given the sack. (I know this because my family are lfc fans and paul is very good friends with roy, so paul decided to tell us about what was going on. Dont know why! !)

P.S. According to paul stevie.G's has said if roy gets the sack then he would like to see Gerard Houlierr to return !"

if you are a his nepthew you need to tell him to get a grip on the pitch the end of the day we have high expectations and he obviously can't handle it. Of course he is going to stick up for Roy like you said hes mate with him and that's why hes at the club if roy wasn't here neither would konchesky simple, play well try hard and even if you make a few mistakes then he will get supported however its when 20 games in and he hasnt played well once and its that bad now teams tell players to run at him. you can't blame the fans for wanting the best for the club that they support by buying tickets shirts and merchandise extra.

keep it a secret till they have it all sorted his compensation, a replacement full or part time whatever it shall be, , info doesn't leak easy from lfc nowadays with these new owners in charge, , and reason it could be taking so long is roy could be digging his heels in deep on how much he gets in compo, , , then when alls agreed they have to agree everything with new manager or caretaker, , , then when its all sorted then tell the press and the world

The board are split on a decision on Roy. Henry wants to keep him. Dalglish is away at the moment so no caretaker ready. I expect Roy to stay until we lose our next league game.

"Our mantra has been to under promise and over deliver. When we came into Boston we were given a short window. We understand the impatience of fans, but our intention is to build a great club from the foundation up, " Werner said. "Our intention is to find the * * very best people. * * It would be crazy to promise too much too soon, but I hope our track record is a guide that we are successful operators."

Tom Werner - 07/ 10/ 2010

Roy, nice bloke, but not the very best! They'll get it right, these guys don't come out making promises. They'll make the changes when it suits Liverpool FC for the long run.

"Please please listen. If we want Roy out just don't go to the next home game.If only 10,000 turn up they will have to sack the daft old git!"

The next home game is the derby. No chance.

Something will happen soon enough, he quite clearly has very little backing and in a period where it there are lots of big games they need to sort out a manager or management team first. Just be patient, it's clear he's on his way out.

NESV/ FSG have sacked Roy Hodgson, Macca is right and will be proved so tomorrow. . .the delay in announcing his sacking comes from sorting out the legalities and compensation he is due.

with regard to the new boss/ interim boss, I doubt that the King would be in for it, if he was then he would have been announced as such by now today. I don't know who is going to get it, it won't be O'Neil, so I am guessing another foreign coach is being approached, perhaps one of the Germans we have recently heard about. . . . perhaps even a return for Rafa to evaluate his performance under a decent board like NESV have in place, that would (as you will appreciate) mean that Purslow could not continue on the board, so perhaps another severance deal is ongoing alongside Hodgsons. . .It is all guess work, but if it is this complicated then it certainly explains why there is a delay in announcing the new gaffer.

Roy cannot continue as the manager until Sunday if he has lost the dressing room and particularly the club captain, and with regard to preparation for the game, there must be something in place as surely this couldn't hang over the squad ahead of such an important game.

Trust Macca - he speaks the truth

Can we just go back in time 24 hours?
- We got spanked by Blackburn
- There were reports of several bust ups between our captain, other players and and the manager
- Ian Cotton shadowed Roy all day and then cut the press conference short
- Ian Ayre's "he's gone" quotes got posted on the official site
- etc, etc, etc

So Roy goes to Melwood this morning and he's asked to do the decent thing and resign. But as we all know, Roy doesn't walk. Therefore, the owners tell him to get his lawyer and agents in for talks about severance. Roy's probably already got his exclusive interview lined for a Sunday tabloid to tell the world how he was still the right man for the job, so I would imagine NESV are tagging a confidentiality clause onto any package he's receiving.

So what to say to the media? Er, nothing at the moment because the owners are doing this 'in house'. This includes getting someone in to take over, whether it is short term or a new manager.

Whatever is going on Roy's position is untenable. This isn't a rumour, it's common sense!

I do think nesv want to remove Roy, but in their own time and not in a knee-jerk reaction just to please us fans. They are the owners and in charge and don't want to be bullied or seem weak, and or back down from their ongoing building plans.Nesv will sack Roy when they are ready.I hope sooner then later.

{editor: Yes mate, they are true but no one but he knows what was in those bags}

()()

06 Jan 2011 18:22:45
Lets keep patience guys. Yes ssn showed woy loading the boot of his car with a few bags. And yes he didn't have a club tie on. And yes he was on his mobile phone at the time (speaking to his agent perhaps before the conspiracy theorists start)(or his wife deciding what to have for tea). I believe NESV now know what we have all known for weeks. Roy nice man though he undoubtedly is isn't the man for the job. He came with the promise of putting smiles on players faces (well he has, blackburn, blackpool, wolves, man utd, spurs, arsenal, man city and everton players faces). He said judge me by xmas, well he was bad enough then now hes gone beyond bad. He critisised players performances in public (what players want to come to a manager who does that, don't think Ive ever heard Mourinho, Ferguson, Wenger, Dalglish, Benitez Paisley slate any player in public but they certainly have their respective teams respect. He disowns half of the squad on a regular basis but his replacements havent been upto the standard (bar one). His tactics are so negative and his selection unfathamable. And he has a go at the supporters

I believe almost certainly his days are numbered (hopefully before the weekend. I like everyone else am frustrated by no statement from nesv but i believe/ hope this is because they are lining up a manager and or signings to make one big announcement (ie this is the new manager and these are the players he's bringing) The alternative is roy goes and sammy given the reigns. . . . .

Have confidence in our new owners if nothing is done by the weekend and we lose against utd. then the honeymoon period for the new owners may evapourate something I'm sure they wouldn't want. So my rumour (based only on common sense)

Roy to leave within next 48hrs
Permanent manager named in the same press conference. (perhaps with a caretaker until summer)
Announcement of at least one new player named shortly after that.

Iam a youth coach for a premier league side ( not saying) but am a huge lfc fan.Hodgson as far as i have heard is not going until after utd game.Dont know who is taking over but I do know from sky sports source that in the summer liverpool will target Andy Carroll , Clarke (Villa), Downing, and two commolli men Mathiu (valencia left full) and blaise matuidi(St etienne). also heard no matter who takes over these are who owners want to bring in .Mass clearout expected( babel, konchesky, poulson, lucas, ngog, pacheco (i knw he signed a new deal , just wat i heard), maxi ) all to leave.Heard torres wants barca move for family reasons , if he goes kun aguero will sign , owners and commoli see him as long term replacment.
like i said this is what i heard and futre manager will be given this squad , with him being allowed 1 of his own signings.Looking into it our team next season at a guess will be:
reina
johnson carra agger mathiu
kuyt meireles gerrard downing
torres / aguero carroll

subs: Jones , clarke , matuidi , cole, spearing, kelly, new striker

I'd like to post a rumour. I have no connection with anybody from the club nor do I have any close sources but in footballing terms I am good at what is known as "Guesswork". I have never posted on here before but I have been an active reader over the past two months. I have normally posted a few of my ideas on Caughtoffside.com but due to its "advertisements" it has difficulties with my webpage. However, during the early summer shortly after Roy arrived I had said that we will most likely bring in Konchesky - I got slated for this. When we signed Joe Cole I beileved he would be poor for us - I still stand by my word and again was slated. Prediction wise I am no wiz kid. I beileve that of what Macca says is true. I beileve Roy will be gone within the next 2 days. As I recall news about Rafa was very late maybe about - 8, 9 or 10pm? Not overly sure. As I mentioned I do guesswork but I feel a possible announcment will be made tomorrow but word will break later tonight.

Yours Thankfully
Inspector AGC.

Ed. Although I think we have got good owners who have a proven record at the red sox, I am totally perplexed with their work In the last month. . The first two months you had them visiting games, giving interviews and stuff. But they ve disappeared into thin air just as the transfer window has reopened. To me this seems to be a case of avoiding questions regarding transfers. Why would they do that?Because the expectations from fans are too high and they are simply not going to match it. But why not come out in the open and say expect a couple of signings but sorry. We havent got the star player for this window. .
No statement of intent at all. A month ago, the manager comes and says I ll be looking to make 5to6 changes. 2weeks later he says I think this squadis excellent and I won't be buying unless we get at a good price. This clearly indicates that they have no intention to buy in this window but have to cos of the sudden change in situations.
For me I would take even 1 great signing. Tat is enough to convince that they ll do well in the long term.
But there doesn seem to be any indication in that front.
Manager-series of poor results. Isnt that sufficient to say that he deserves the boot a while ago? Ok! They are searchin for the right manager but come on guys, the situation is bleak. Make an intention clear as a top club does . Pay out boas or any other manager contract and bring him pronto! That is what a big club does in such situations. They seem to be behaving as though we are mid table club and are too slow in their approach!
What is the point thinking long term when you are in danger of relegation at the present!
Then they say we ll buy if a player is available at the right price. These days even the vegetable vendor won't sell onions at the rate you want. How an you expect a club to sell at the rate you think is right. Look at dzeko-he surely is worth 30mil. That is the right price! Make an attempt to sign him! Or suarez! So if carlton cole is available at 2mil -right price. You ll sign him?

Ralf Rangnick looks a dead cert to be installed as Liverpools new manager. Reports in Germany suggest the ex-Hoffenhiem coach met with club officials in a Stuttgart hotel, late on Tuesday night.
The same artcle reports that Liverpool have made enquiries for 3 Bundesliga based players. Bremens Per Mertesacker, Mainz forward Adam Szalai and Gladbach sensation Marco Reus are reported to be the players in question, moves for the 3 could cost the Anfield club around £27m.
So he's cert to be appointed all because he said he wants to. I want to be Liverpool manager, can i have the job please, i'm top of the prem in Footy Manager 2011.

If Hodgson goes - and the pictures of him loading "3-4 bags" in to the boot of his chaffeur driven-Audi and the fact that not only was he not wearing the club or any tie (unusual in itself - normally wears a tie, usually the club one) suggest that indeed he is going - I do not expect any official announcement until tomorrow. I would expect NESV to be having a busy day USA time and therefore working well into the night our time securing a temporary replacement to see out the season. Therefore I would expect an announcement tomorrow of both his departure and his succesor. In addition, I am still getting word from office staff (not high ranking) that the temporary replacement will be as I (sadly) reported this morning - Avram Grant - and that talks with both him and West Ham are continuing as we speak regarding compo for the Hammers and terms for him.

It's hard to say whether that would be better or worse.

I think everyone will agree when I say Hodgson MUST go! He doesn't motivate players, he always looks half asleep, and I always sense there is no passion from him.
When he leaves ( I hope really soon ) we have to bring in a proven manager who likes to attack, but then knows how to defend. I would like to see the FC Porto manager, or maybe the Germany coach. Both play attacking football, but yet they know how defend. I don't want another manager who will play poor football, I for one hate the way Liverpool play now. We need style, creativity and passion on the pitch, not a bunch of over paid wimps! Torres is world class and the supply he gets is awful. I wouldn't be surprised if he left!
Players who need to be sold are:
Konchesky, The Greek, Poulsen, Babel, Kuyt, Jovanovic.

Bring in the youth to the team like Suso, Pacheco, Ecclestone, Amoo, Irwin, Ince.

Also play the players in correct positions, apart from Johnson. Move him to right wing and see how well he does. Bring in further wingers and also strikers.

Sort it out now before it's too late! ROY PLEASE GO! WE BEG YOU! ! PLEASE GO! ! !

One thing to bear in mind about the manager replacement, it has to be someone who is willing to work with a director of football. Therefore not someone like Martin O'Neil. In my opinion this André Villas Boas of Porto sounds a good shout.

However, I don't know if anyone else has seen the video clip SSN have shown of Hodgson leaving Melwood? He was driven in and out of Melwood today but before leaving, he loaded the car with a few large bags. Now, read into this as much as you like, possibly he has left, these bags could be something else, we just don't know. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

There's one man nobody has mentioned on this site, or any other, come to think. John Toshack. Learnt his trade from the GREATEST manager this country has ever seen. Never mind 'Old Rednose' down the road. Shanks was GOD. What would he think now? Our club, the club HE built, a laughing stock. You can keep all your foreign managers/ players, sell the lot of them. Tosh is woven into the very fabric of our club. He knows what it means to wear the red shirt. We may have to start again. But I would rather see 11 young British players, playing their hearts out for this club than the 11 that played on Wednesday, and I include Gerrard, Torres. We've been in decline since Roy Evans left and if I had any say in the matter I would go on bended knee and beg him to come back. Iknow the game has changed but we need to go back to what worked for us for all those years. the 'Boot Room'. It worked once and with the right people, it can work again. Itmay take time. How much time, who knows? I for one, have had enough of foreign managers. What do they know about Liverpool FC? Players who dive, roll around and moan about our weather? Th ey should have playewd here inthe 60's & 70's! Up to there knees in s* t, cold showers etc. They're all hairbands and highlights!

Hi readers, i read this site everyday with the hope that we make moves for players of a certain calibre.
I can't be the only one who notices which kinds of players do well in england.

The targets i believe liverpool should try and go for are the following

1. Hamsik (15-20 mill)
2. Hazard (15-20 mill)
3. Sanchez(15-20 mill)
4. banega 12 mill
5. martinez 12 m
6. taiwo (possible free)
7. Mata (15 mill)
8. subotic (15mill)
9. mertsacker (10 mill)

I realise that this is circa 100 mill. But we wouldn't need all of them, plus with all the players going out, we could probably recoup some of the money. I know we need another striker, but these players would create goals for even emile heskey. Hazard and sanchez might cost alot in the short term, but look at thier age.

I am tired of reading liverpool linked to players such as s.ireland etc.

if someone doesn't do something quickly, and with the likes of torres, gerrard, and pepe looking to leave, we will not be able to attract anyone.

The name of Liverpool will quickly fade. . .

Another kick in the nuts as ELIA pulls the plug on LFC"

Why do you say that? Just because of the Utd quote?

He is unlikely to make it into the Madrid or Barca squads and Utd are far more likely to be keeping their powder dry and money in their wallets for Sanchez in the summer. He may want a move to the clubs he listed but does anyone seriously think that because he didn't name, say, Inter or Chelsea for example, that he'd turn down moves to such clubs. He's out of favour where he is and dropping names to see if anyone comes calling (particularly after Barca recently swooped for his compatriot Affelay) nothing more. If he's stuck in a Hobson's choice scenario like VdV was at Madrid, of sitting on the bench or jumping to a side that isn't on his ideal wishlist but nonetheless are willing to play him, then we have every chance of getting him if indeed we are actually interested (which i still doubt).

as the great man said himself "you only get out of the game what you put into it"
perhaps that's what has happened this year no commitment no passion no winning.
i think the new owners should either back hodgson with cash to build his own team or sack him.i think hodgson panick bought poulson and konchesky as it was quite late in the day.
also do you think that nesv have actually got money to spend or is it another hicks and gillet all over again

We went through all this the other day and following the amendments in 2008 to the FIFA rule this is no longer rigidly true. For instance he could go back to Fulham within the English FA, or he can go to any other club that is in another FA - Scotland, Italy etc for example.

I know i may be sounding negative, however all my positivity has been tarnished with the recent performances, the manager's comments, the wrigly body language of the players and most importantly the rumours about the bust ups etc. Giving Hodgson the sack will sort out the problems, Question is, Will he be Sacked Today or hang on until the season ends. Secondly, It is down to the players to pull themselves up. The authorities i.e. NESV really need to go and look for the roots of the problems. Yes I understand that there are a lot of international players who are really good and do perform however, to wear the heart on your sleeves when playing for your club, it is the local lads who know what it means to DON the red shirt. We have seen Stevie, Carra and the likes of Fowler, McManaman etc in the past. Alternatively, breeding a mixture of foreign and local talent in the academy and MOST IMPORTANTLY, giving them a chance and bringing them through. .the likes of Pacheco, Amoo, Darby, Irwin, Kelly, Spearing and co. If the current players don't want to perform, give them the boot and bring in the kids, who we all know will play for the shirt. .develop them and grow the team and hence progress the team towards bringing the glory days with a good and sound man in charge. .may be O'Driscoll, Villas Boas (spelling), Owen Coyle.

If we buy players suh as Cole, that have not made it in other top flight clubs, how in the world can we expect to win the league? The same applies to the manager. Hodgson was such a TERRIBLE decision . . I still can't believe we have dropped to such levels.

How many of our first 11 would get into the scum's first team? Or Chelsea's first team? Comeo n, how many? How many titles has Bodgson won in top leagues in the world?

You buy mid-table players, you get a mid-table club. You get an average manager, you get an average club.

Of course the top managers like Mourinho and the big b* ch Fergie have worked wonders but they also have brilliant squads and support.

I haven't seen us win the league since I was a little one. I'm tired, hurt, depressed, angry and fed up at our performances and the bulls* t excuses from our managers.

If we want to win the league, we need to go for the best manager and the best players. The only way to do that nowadays, is to throw some money at it. If you can't beat them, buy them.

Hi everyone.
although i don't think that woy is the right man for the job , i think any manager coming in right now would have a hard job to get this team to play well as at least 75% of them don't deserve to wear the red shirt .no passion or commitment they should hold thier hands up and take some of the blame.torres looks like he has already left.johnson is no england rightback.we need to start playing the boy wilson and kelly they cannot do any worse than the ones out there last night.
we also need to sign some decent wingers not central midfielders playing on the wing then free kuyt to play up front with torres if he stays with cole behind them .

See?! I posted a few times saying we won't have any additions to the squad other than young talents, but never got to print. Now look - Elia? He isn't even interested in us! Marveaux? Sounds like another Kewell! Honda? even if he signed, he has already played a full season in the Russian league plus the Asian Cup, surely he would be knackered. . he can't save the cause

()()

06 Jan 2011 14:26:25
Lets face it, Hodgson will be going, whether its today or not. So the only issue is who will come in to replace him. I think it should be somebody who will be prepared to give they youngsters like Pacheco, Suso and Kelly etc consistent run in the team. Let them show what they can do. It might even give the 'first team' regulars a kick up the arse if they know there are willing and able replacements waiting for them to slip up. .again

06 Jan 2011 14:26:21
I don't know where to start but here goes. . . .I don't think sacking managers gets you anywhere, newcastle, west ham, etc. I think you should give them time to get there ideas across to the players and being a red since birth i would always ALWAYS stick up for anything liverpool football club. . . . .my family are all reds and my mum from Litherland and me dad from Penny lane so i was only ever gonna support one team which is why i feel so strongly about our club. . . . . . But Roy has to go i think! ! . . .its not that he isn't a nice bloke or that i think he is a bad manager, i just feel his tactics are so wrong for us and the manager of LFC must have an aura about him (shanks, paisley even Rafa). Roy looks like he has aged ten years in six months. We defo need a shakeup and a new exciting manager to do this, also he must demand nothingless than 110% everytime in training and games. someone who the players will play for aswell as our great club! ! !

I don't have a answer or a specific manager i just know its gotta happen and happen very soon!

Afternoon everyone,

Firstly please post this in the rumours section, because with all the other cr*p going on at our club at the minute this could very well be possible. I mean, last nights display? i thought wolves was the bottom of the pit, but the pit keeps getting deeper! Aguero drops his buy out clause and everyyy other big club except is linked. Hodgeson is officially a JOKE. And the owners are'nt providing any answers and our voice is pretty silenced i feel (not being able to post on the website about our views on specific things, or phone calls on topics being slightly turned).

My rumour:

NESV are all tied up with a bigger project then replacing roy hodgeson. .

They are trying to find out who he is at all costs due to the valueable information hes spilling, Henry even told Roy : Your only mission is to find Macca, so he told the players, guys, just wander around the pitch staring at the stands and see if you see macca - hence the perfomance. Anyway Gerrard thought he seen him whilst eyeing up the goals at the penalty, he took a shot to try and take him down, but consequently missed the penalty.

Macca i hope your right about Roy being out before the united game!

PS: Commoli's role? yup. also bought in to find macca

Ed. anymore news about the half time bust up?

{editor: Its just rumours}

NESV will now try to get him as soon as possible. .

Afternoon all

Reading this site has become an addiction Ed. Just wanted to tell everyone to relax, whack on SSN and wait for the announcement later this afternoon. We all know that this situation needs changing and I'm sure that will be the case for NESV. if I spent the money they have, had their ambition for success, looked at the views of the Liverpool Fans on this site or practically any other site, hadn't brought Roy in as my choice, watched the players looking like they are trying to play in a style they don't have faith in, listened to some idiotic post match comments by Roy and now had a fight on to qualify for Europe I would sack his ass by text let alone a board meeting so keep the faith, they will make that decision.

You mean the same carra that campaigned to get hodgson the job? And is no doubt campaigning for him to be given a chance?what makes you think he wouldn't have the team play long ball football, after all he is the main long ball player in the team? The man has been severely over-rated over the last 2 years or so, and there's a lot more to carra then meets the eye, trust me.

Roy is 1/ 3 on to get the boot. With them odds surely the owl has gone before the day!

On a lighter note from last night miserable performance. Joe Cole shone in places in the game, I also thought he worked hard.

If ( and a strongly hope not) John Henry and Co stick with Woy. Should we as fans boycott the next home game even though its against Everton.

I know we need to support the players but the new owners need to fully understand the fans feelings and one of the ways todo this to hit them in the pocket

So boycott Everton game?

Ed do yo think 10 mil plus giovinco would be a fair deal {ed's note - for who?}
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Think he means Aquaman {ed's note - oh ok, either way no, Giovinco doesn't look cut out for the Prem to me.}

has i posted yesterday about hearing that Sebastian Giovinco had been offered as part of the agua deal because juve need the money for adibayour . the problem is Sebastian Giovinco is on loan to parma and as part of that loan they have been given option to buy up %50 of his contact in the summer . not sure how that would be worked around? ed any ideas on this? ?? ive looked on you tube he does look like truoble for defenders not sure if hes developed anoth in my eyes plus nit sure why juve want to get rid . ask the question to my friend in turin ans he seems to think they are wanting a buy back clause in 3 to 4years . {ed's note - I don't know how it would work because I don't know the ins and outs of the loan contract. I can never figure out these ones that are owned half by one team and half by another. It just makes no sense to me.}

Just a bit of info for you guys on who the bookies are going with for next PERMANENT manager. William Hill, Unibet and Skybet have Rijkaard as favourite, Skybet also have MON as joint favourite with rijkaard but i don't think that's very likely, Victor Chandler and Paddy Power are going with Ralf Rangnick. Bare in mind kenny may still take over as caretaker manager till june when we can find a permanent relacement.

Ed plz post

I have a conspiracy theory. The Players that aren't performing are backing Roy (i.e. Cole, Lucas, Soto, Konchesky etc) and this is creating a rift in the dressing room with players like Reina, Torres & Stevie who are frsutrated no end with this drab football. Certain players don't want Woy to go as he is taking all the heat off them!

Weed need Owen Coyle, he could come now at we could let him build. then focus goes back to players (where it should be) and we adopt a perform or f/ off approach! Coyle, is smart, talks well, plays nice football, passionate and wants to win. All foreign coaches mentioned might or might not work. Coyle will work, . We need a new man to build a dynasty for the next 10-15 years. A Dechamps - even if succesful - will leave to a RM or Barca or ManU within 3-5 years. Think about it.

Rumours getting stronger and more likely.

Bodgson is on his way and Martin O'Neill in charge with the remit to prove himself and apply at the end of the season for the permanent role. This way NESV don't burn their bridges, leave Kenny to carry on his ambassadorial role and Roy to move on.

Not sure when this will be announced. . anybody can guess a time. . . but hopefully today !

diO. {ed's note - he does look an excellent young player, but I just don't see him as a Prem player. It is difficult to judge players in Italy these days, the quality has dropped so much in recent times it is almost akin to the Dutch Eredivisie these days. Hi Ed this is my first post after months of following the site as I haven't had anythin solid to post in the past.
I have a source close to the club that let's me know team selections etc before they are released and he is always bang on the money.
He's just informed me that Carra and Roy Evans will take charge of the club until we can install a permanent manager in the near future. King Kenny will not get the position as there scared of him doing bad and losing the fans or doing well and the fans demanding he's long term manager. Whatever happens Roy need to go asap for the sake our our beloved club and fingers crossed another manager get get the team to perform.

XO21 {ed's note - yes but he is another central midfielder, we bought two in the summer, it is width we need!}

You're right ed this club has been obsessed with buying central midfielders for too long. how many have we got? When was the last time we bought a top quality winger. I think someone like Meireles is a good player but he aint a wide player. Same with players like Joe Cole. Whats the point of buying a player who plays at his best in the middle and then playing them out wide?

Family in states told me that NESV that we would bring in the likes of Comolli and various other statisticians like they did with the red sox to crunch the numbers of pass rates, finishing etc and they would get the right men for the job. After speaking to them again last night it seems this will be applied to the new manager. Hopefully sense will prevail with a solid exciting manager in place! I would love to see KK but what if the results don't go well again? Where then, all hope will be totally gone! We need either rodolfo borrell to steady till right man comes along or established winning coach!
I am suprised Martin O'Neil's name hasn't been spoken about too, he might be waiting for whiskey nose to pop his clogs tho!

THE REASON WHY O'NEILL'S NAME ISN'T BEING CONSIDERED IS BECAUSE HIS FOOTBALL STYLE IS GARBAGE. GOING FROM A NEGATIVE STYLE TO A DIRECT / LONG BALL STYLE WILL PROBABLY SEND MANY OF THE SUPPORTERS OVER THE EDGE!

I SAY GET KENNY IN TILL THE END OF THE SEASON AND SEE WHAT IS BEST DURING THE SUMMER. WE ARE OFF TO OLD TRAFFORD SUNDAY AND I DON'T WANT IT TO BE A DAY SINGING GET HODGSON OUT. HAVING KENNY IN WILL LIFT THE CLUB AND THE FANS AND GIVE US A CHANCE. . WITH HODGSON ITS GOING TO BE DESPERATE!

Is Roy going to be in charge for the FA Cup game?

Hey eds, great site and you's are doing a brilliant job, just was wondering what you guy's thought of rodolfo borell taking over til the summer anyway, it wud giv him experience and the academy players love playn for him and he plays attacking football and in 5 years time wen the kids are coming thru wel have an excellent young squad, the likes of suso, sterling, ngoo and giv that man the money to spend. .just my thoughts and wondered what you guy's and all the posters thought about it. .

All are correct; I realize that initial discussions would have taken yesterday evening; however, the main meetings will be today and considering the timing being the opening of the transfer window and the future 3 matches in 8 days it needs careful consideration. If RH was on his way out regardless then plans will be in place and it may just be a matter of gearing up the management take over. If not then it's a lot more complicated.

When they first bought the Sox though they left the manager in for 2 years, who was just clearly not good enough. They waited until the man they wanted became available. That is why I'm unsure whether Hodgson will actually be sacked. He should because their losing money keeping him in. Who wants to go and pay £40 a ticket plus spends to watch a Liverpool side play like this, lose to lesser clubs and watch players give half-hearted performances and the manager stroke his chin, not knowing what to do.

NESV have stated that they don't do knee jerks reactions but surely they know they need to act quickly to keep the fans on their side. Anfield attendance was down 10,000 on Saturday. Will the same happen for next home game against Everton? If it does and if Woy is still in charge then this must show John Hery and Co something has to be done

NESV to keep Hodgson as manager until end of Jan?

Morning ed , just said on talk sport that the owners are undecided what to do with the t* t .psvelnino {ed's note - undecided is the same as saying he is gone, otherwise they would come out and say he is staying.}
===================================

Undecided is not particularly strong management. Results & form, tactical ineptitude, terrible PR, split dressing room, loss of fan support. His position is now untenable, leaving him in can only do damage, a caretaker manager is a better option.

If the board decides to continue on undecided, then that indicates problems at board level not just managerial issues. Which there undoubtedly are having appointed him in the first place. I doubt it was Hicks & Gillet's footballing wisdom that made him the no 1 choice.

Hi Ed,

please post this on the rumours page.

There have been a few posts about the time differences between here and boston, and how its only early in the morning there so we shouldnt expect much movement.

Surely when the game finished last night it was only 5pm(ish) in boston, so why would JH wait until this morning before starting to sort this out? At 5pm US time, I would expect he would have been calling a meeting of the major players (in a conference call) and deciding what the necessary course of action is. .? I can't believe that he would have his dindins, maybe a wee glass of red, get a good nights sleep and then look at it in the morning!

That said, RH should have the good sense to hold his hands up and say ''this job was a step too far for me'', and leave. Although I can understand him holding out for compensation.

As I stated yesterday, the decision to sack Roy has been made already 2 weeks ago and it is final and was never in question since then. He also knows about it and is not allowed to make comments until the club releases an official statement. The only thing that was holding back the satement is that NESV wanted to name the caretaker immediately in the same statement, but since Thommo refused to take it and they are not too keen on Kenny (who seeks permanent position or none at all), they will most likely release a statement notifying about the sack to Roy and Sammy taking control for the next few games only. Don't expect him to be at the helm until the summer. I will phone my source again if no statement is released until tomorow morning.

I would expect that there will not be much coming out of the club today until the earliest 3pm. Given the time difference, and Roy's constant blubbering adding 30mins to his reign as Liverpool manager. I would not expect Kenny to be taking over (unfortunately), they want a young manager long term, and if Kenny was a success it would be very difficult to remove him from the position. Kenny will be more involved, but not as manager.
We are currently experiencing the consequences of a series of poor decisions made over the last 2 years by the previous regime. . we are left with a poor manager, and a poor squad. FSG need to remove Hodgson as soon as possible, I would want Kenny to take over to the end of the season, with someone like Deschamps or Sanchez Flores taking over in the summer.

I'm hearing an announcement could be made today, but around 4pm GMT (9am in the US).

I posted something about NESV/ FSG last night but I don't think it made it on here for some reason. They made 3 managerial changes in a year to turn the Red Sox into winners, so lets just hope they have the balls to do that with us!

Also, they have re-appointed managers too, so, can we actually rule out the possibility of Rafa returning?

Any comments?"

Perfectly logical BUT don't forget that they had plenty of time for initial discussions last night (our time), so if they were in the business of making a decision like that they may have had an initial discussion then, with an agreement to sleep on it and see how it looked in the morning.

My question though is whether NESV make decisions like that. I can't help feeling that the timing of any announcement and its proximity to any specific match result is likely to be largely coincidental. They strike me as long-termists, and it strikes me as more likely that they will reach a decision in their own time. Hopefully, they have already but I'd be wary of second guessing them too much. They don't strike me as your typical reactionary sports owners though.

Ed, any views?

Dawkins {ed's note - I would have expected decisiveness from ruthless businessmen myself, I really don't understand how any of this can be thought of as part of a long term strategy.}

Guys I am telling you, save yourselves anguish and come to terms with the fact that Roy Hodgson will be at Old Trafford as LFC manager on Sunday.

100% trust the person who has told me that Roy won't be fired, due to busy fixture schedule and lack of suitable replacement, temporary or permanent.

Macca was having a lend of you all and he will come on soon to say that "Roy was meant to go but they changed their minds"

()()

06 Jan 2011 11:25:58
This is how it works: if the owners have decided to get rid of Roy they will be in discussion with him and his agent regarding how best to do it. They will give him the option to resign and will be discussing a severance package if he is sacked. Not sure if there is any clause regarding payoffs in his contract, there seems to be other rumours about this. The main issue is to allow the club and Roy to preserve their dignity

Well, its still the early hours in Boston, so they're probably still blurredly rubbing sleep out of their eyes and wondering whats changed since they went to bed last night (well after last nights game finished here)

lets be honest, its a poisoned chalice , at least until the season ends. I belive the squad are in melwood today ( according to Ryan Babel on Twitter anyway) which is hardly surprising. Whether that has any significance or not I don't know (it has been suggested by some that today might have been a day off but given last-night's performance. . )

From NESV's point of view, all their language has been about a long-term view, so I'm not surpised if they don't feel the need to rush into a decision. I'm pretty sure that they've said nice things about Kenny, but whether that's genuine admiration or not I don't know and I doubt it has any real bearing on what happens next. If I was kenny I might have mixed feelings about the job. He'd have to work miracles to meet some people's expectations, and lets face it, NESV don't seem inclined towards short-term fixes that go against their long-term vision. Which is probably fair, although at time slike the present, I don't know that it always feels that way.

Didn't Roy have a clause in his contract which stated that he would be paid no compensation if new owners came in and decided he wasn't the man. This therefore means that NESV just need to decide he isn't the man and then bye bye Roy. Besides, it's still very early in America, so no decision will be made until later on, noon-ish American time.

Well it could be a standard comment. It looks like they are trying to not pay Roy off, if they have to them make they are finding a way to pay him the least amount. Quite a normal comment before someone gets sacked. If they wanted him, they would of backed him by now, but they haven't which to me means he's going to be sacked.

Ok first of all the rumours are. . .
1. we are very interested in robert huth. . . wtf?? i suppose he is better than skrtel but he would not even be in my defending shortlist!?
2. elia is not signing for liverpool, we were interested but 20million euro price tag has put us right off. and here is a quote form the man himself "HSV is also a top team. But I would love to play for one of the special clubs such as Real Madrid , FC Barcelona or Manchester United. " we will keep tabs on him till the end of the transfer window though (my winger of choice direct, fast and young)
3. We have definitely been in contact with cska and have spoke to honda, there has been a verbal agreement, but nothing has been signed, and will be reviewed again after the asian cup.
4. Marveaux will b signing a pre contract agreement and will join in the summer.
5. We have bin linked with suarez but i expect spurs to win that race, as they have champions league football.
6. Adebayor has been enquired about, he will not come as man city would b unwilling to sell to us(in my opinion) and will probably go to italy or spain with a view to a permanent deal.

Can't believe a decision to sack Roy hasn't been made at this stage. Are they reluctant to put Kenny in charge? Is there some sort of legal aspect to it as LFC have no CEO at the moment? . . . they wouldn't dare put Sammy Lee in temporary charge if Roy goes, would they?

sure to got wen nesv came in the acted on the contract that he had to be let gop as and wen new owners come in. id have said right roy your sacked, but now here is new contract on on a month to month bacis for next 6 months or something like, untill proved you can handle the job. just watchin roy with media before the game last night. and the mood he was in, i believe in macca that his fate was already sealed.

Liverpool's owners are considering whether to sack manager Roy Hodgson but no decision has yet been taken, BBC Sport understands.

Liverpool are 12th in the Premier League table following Wednesday's 3-1 loss at Blackburn - their ninth defeat in 20 top-flight games this season.

With over half the campaign gone, the 18-times league champions are currently four points above the relegation zone.

Hodgson left Fulham to take charge at Anfield in July.

The 63-year-old replaced Spaniard Rafael Benitez but has struggled to win over the Liverpool fans as his side have laboured in mid-table.

A 1-0 home defeat by Wolves on 29 December piled the pressure on Hodgson before Saturday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Bolton looked to have earned him some breathing space.

However, following the poor performance at Ewood Park, Hodgson refused to discuss his future and said only that he felt "dejection, bitter disappointment, frustration" at the result.

The former Inter Milan, Blackburn and Switzerland boss was appointed by Liverpool before the current owners, New England Sports Ventures, took over the club in October.

Check this out on triblefootball

Kenny Dalglish is reluctant to take charge of Liverpool in the event Roy Hodgson is shown the door.

Defeat to Blackburn Rovers last night has Hodgson closer to the sack.

The Guardian says Liverpool's principal owners, the chairman Tom Werner and John W Henry, are understood to be assessing potential candidates to succeed Hodgson but their search is complicated by availability at this stage of the season and their reluctance to appoint Kenny Dalglish, the fans' favourite and now club ambassador, even on a temporary basis.

A demanding sequence of fixtures - starting with United, a trip to Blackpool next Wednesday and then the Merseyside derby at home to Everton - may protect Hodgson against an immediate change but, equally, he may not survive more damaging results over that period.

Quotes from Elia (ssn)

"HSV is also a top team. But I would love to play for one of the special clubs such as Real Madrid , FC Barcelona or Manchester United. "

Seems unlikely he will sign for us if
a) he wants to go to a current top club
b) he wants to play for the sc*m

Personally I think this is a good thing, he's just a quick winger who keeps his head down and hoofs the ball somewhere near the box.

I think all of these would be better:
Young
Arda Turan
Sanchez (very unlikely)
Marveaux
Adam Johnson (would absolutely love to see him in a red shirt)

Good work ed's, love the site

Rumours are resurfacing about Glen Johnson leaving. Apparently, there was a fee agreed with Spurs, but Johnson rejected it as he wants to play abroad. Both Inter and Real Madrid are believed to be interested. I'd like to think that we could recoup most of the fee we paid, but I'm not sure about that. At least we have Kelly as a straight replacement.

Hodgson has to be on his way out. I'm one of those that like Roy - I think he's a good man and an intelligent manager - but it really hasn't worked out for him at Anfield. His comments have been ridiculous at times and his tactics are completely wrong. I'd like to think that KK will be given the chance to take over until the end of the season while NESV sound out other potential managers. If Kenny is not keen to make the role more permanent, or if NESV have other ideas, we need to ensure that the next appointment is the right one.

I've absolutely no doubts that Kenny will be able to calm the players and get them working properly and - let's face it - there's not one LFC supporter that wouldn't like to see a successful Liverpool under Dalglish.

Dont think Roy is going anywhere. Unless he resigns, NESV will have to keep him til summer or no transfer activity can realistically happen. You can't have a new manager making january purchases if he hasnt started yet. If new manager does come in and Comolli completes Roy's transfers new manager will be well within his rights to play "these are not my choices" card. Its not a healthy situation. I can only see players leaving in January and who can blame them. Miserable.

Agree RH's time must surely be up (plrease!)

But why Ancelotti - after all he seems to be having similar problems to RH (getting the best out of a limited squad)

If Kenny does get gig temporarily (and I'm sure NESV has made warm noises about him recently) who are the likely contenders for our much need infusion of fresh blood?

Turan's already been mentioned, but wasn't N'zogbia another Kenny tip (or did I dream that)?

Being realistic, whoever takes over we're faced with a best outcome of Europa league place and hopefully a decent run in either the Eu" or fingers croosed the FAC

Awful to think that what should be the barest minimum is now the best we can hope for.

Long-term I'd be surprised if Kenny in charge in 11/ 12 (although happy if he is), but is Deschamps best best?

Longer-term buys

Adam Matthews - versatile Cardiff full back
Luc Castaignos - teenage Feyenoord winger
Francisco Alcacer - wonderkind striker

Ralf Rangnick and Deschamps are front runners for the full time role in the summer!

Everybody knows who Deschamps is and I Wasnt interested in Ralf Rangnick either until i started reading about him. in the late 1990s he helpied to lead Ulm from the third division into the top flight in successive seasons, He REPEATED that feat with Hoffenheim and even took them to the top of the Bundesliga at the midway stage of their maiden season among Germany's elite.
HE took two teams from division three to the german premier IN SUCCESIVE SEASONS TWICE!

It doe's not bother me if RH gets the sack today or tomorrow,
what doe's is the fact we may loose our transfer targets i.e Honda if we keep dragging this saga on.

NESV need to act quickley or we could end up with everyones cast off's as panic buys. Or he caretaker/ new manager will not get time to buy who they feel could do a good job.

Also Adebyor (spelling) i think would make a good short spell loan signing until the summer, so one to take the heat of Torres as i think Ngog is not upto the task and never will.

Lastly why are Spurs linked to every player we are? Are we their f'kin scouts or something!

ok, i see your point ed. but do we not have a billionaire owner(s)? would they not support him? doesn't mancini have a billionaire owner supporting him at city? he is touted to get the boot soon also. you can have all the money in the world, buy all the best players around, it won't guarantee success. it takes a good manager to get results, regardless of who is playing, and for a manager to do what rangnick has done over the past 4 odd seasons suggests to me that it was more than just buying success. whatever the case though ed, would you not agree that a change in management needs to be made? and with very limited available managers around at the minute, rangnick may be able to do a job for us? even if it was only on a temporary basis?

I'm afraid to tell all reds fans that Roy Hodson will NOT be sacked. In fact, it is highly probable that he will see out his full 3 year contract, even if we get relegated - which is a serious threat now.

We all know that he will not resign, because he cannot believe he has got such a job, and he will cling to it for all his life is worth.

We will continue to suffer from his very mediocre signings, and will never be a top side again for many years. We are being led into a situation whereby we will eventually accept that we will always be a mid table team at best, no matter how great our history is.

I am posting this because usually when I post, the opposite always happens!

This is my first time of posting. The information I have comes direct from within Villa Park. Martin O'Neill will be confirmed as the next LFC manager within the next 10 days. Why 10 days? apparently this is when his rolling 1 year contract he had in place at Villa expires. You may recall he walked out on them. He left for a number of reasons, one of which was that LFC approached Randy Lerner in June/ July for permission to talk to MON, it was knocked back.

I personally do not rate MON, do not think he is the right man, personally prefer Hiddink, however these are the rumours, this comes from the same source that told me Houllier would be the Villa manager 2 weeks before he was announced - nice little 10/ 1.

'Ed/ Azza, what's your source with the half time dust up mate?'

Apparently a Argument Between some of the players and roy about the amount of effort from other players and Gerrard wanting changes

Azza

Have a mate that lives in Lancashire and has something to do with BBR youth setup (not sure tbh - he knows I'm a huge LFC fan) called me last night straight after game to gloat and to tell me that their was huge dressing room unrest at HT. Not Hodgson, but players shouting at players and scuffles. There was def also bickering after the game getting on the bus. So def is truth in this rumour.

Guess Stevie doing what Roy too 'Mr Nice' to do! Feel so sorry for him.

Some sources are claiming that there will be a press conference tomorrow morning and that the former Fulham boss will be given his marching orders and that there is a very strong possibility Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish may well be appointed as a caretaker manager for a short period of time until the club's owners can appoint a suitable replacement.

Hodgson to be sacked in the morning, Honda, Marveaux and Elia deals will be on hold if this happens as the possible new manager will look at different alternatives. Arda Turan was a possibility in this January transfer window as KK is an admirer and says he has the skill and potential to do well in the BPL. Hodgson disagreed with these comments and chose to look at different wingers such as highly rated japanese forward/ winger Keisuke Honda and out of form Eljero Elia who was atleast before the Blackburn Rovers game interested in joining Liverpool. I don't know much about Marveaux, just that he is a french winger, a quick and pacy one, but he is in fact 24 years old, people here seem to think that he is younger than that. Suarez and Mertesacker rumours are all not true, even though I want them to join there price tags are too high and Hodgson/ Replacement will be looking to add more than just these 2 players into the squad.

Ed. Bit of information for the readers and urself.

Roy's departure will be official tommorow and dechamps is the board's number 1 target. Players such as GJ, MS and Dk are being seriously looked at for departures as well as the dead wood. Suarez is being touted by my link though i think hes a risk and a huge press conference will be made within the next 2 days for the fans, the footballing world and the players as a statement of intent by NESV.Ed?

P.s worth putting a few pound on mancini sack.

Again we lose against a mediocre team and the poor fans are dissappointed AGAIN FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME it is time for changes. The transfer window has opened up with lots of promise and we have not moved an inch wake up sign players we need improvement i.e. WORLD CLASS PLAYERS so Honda has said he wants to come and what do we do NOTHING we are waiting for good old Ferguson to snap our targets or WENGER OR MAN CITY WITH THEIR FILTHY MONEY it is time we move early for once and secure our targets. Why don't we learn our lessons?
So Elia is good so sign him for Gods sake, move people other clubs are all wide awake. NESV WAKE UP WE NEED 60 MILLION! ! ! ! MONEY TALKS AND WINS YOU SILVERWARE. Get Aquilani back, get rid of Babel and Insua, Poulsen, Kyrgiakos, and whoever does not want to be here we need belief, love confidence and a swell manager a.All managers out there should be looked at and quickly spoken to the chosen one and appoint him. We always seem to ponder too long on things and wait for a miracle to happen it won't we need world class players to turn this misery around! ! ! ! Llorente, Diarra, pato, dzeko, people like this or as ferguson does he fishes out unknown targets that are great like Hernandez I hate Ferguson and Manure but they are getting their transfer targets right and look at them. Where is Honda? Sign him please.yes=believable no=unbelievable

well he did play for milan in the 80s. nothing wrong with supporting a former club. and ok, he also played for the scum, but hes not a manc. in my view hes a good assistant. light years ahead of sammy lee and if hes available, i would be more than happy to see him at the club if it meant that our current no.2 hits the road.

Re the Sammy Lee criticism - when he was at Bolton he failed the 3rd FA badge several times. He finally got on a course with only other women attendess. He failed it again (the only one), but to save his humiliation he was 'passed' with all the other ladies. Maybe could take over from Roy? {ed's note - I was trying to google that to find the story, but haven't been able to find it. But he struggled through the first one as well, he got the lowest grades on the course then, I remember that was in the Echo because there was only one woman on the course and she complained about favouritism. Apparently she got the highest marks all the way through but was given the lowest possible pass grade while Sammy Lee and someone Everton were putting through (I forget who it was) were given the highest grad

Disgraceful post. So we pick coaches on ability to pass an exam now do we? maybe this girl should have got the job, Don't recall her playing at the heart of one of the world's greatest teams for years though. Of course that doesn't matter now does it, much more important to have a Friggin useless FA coaches certificate.

Ed/ Azza, what's your source with the half time dust up mate?

I'm totally dumfounded with the magnitude of our problems. Not just Roy but the split in the camp, lack of discipline on and off the pitch, lack of quality within the senior section of the squad but most of all lack of a senior leader within the management/ coaching staff. As CV's go within our staff we're naive.

I'd go for Kenny, Tommo (assistant), Aldo/ rush/ Molby coaches. Player's like Stevie and Torres etc would be looking at their shoes when getting told rather than feeling there in their own saying what's what.

Sh*tting myself to be honest

EPortRed {ed's note - the source is a Blackburn steward, apparently there was a bit of a crowd round the dressing room door listening in to the ruckus. So there should be a fair number of people to tell the tale tonight.}

Understand the argument was due to Roy's refusal to place Phil Collins during his half time team talk. As we all know, the only thing that can possibly stop Gerrard destroying all round him is the earthy voice of Chiswick's favourite son, accompanied by his ground breaking skinsmanship.

Naturally, Soto backed Roy up (the Greeks are well known lovers of the original Genesis line up and believe Phil Collins fatally undermined Peter Gabriel's authority within the band).

Is simples.

Been told to post on this site by my son.

I drove the Liverpool Team Bus tonight and i can say that there was a lot of arguing on the bus not only onthe way back but on the way there aswell.

From what i can gather, gerrard and reina were tagged together against hodgson and lee and you would think that gerrard and reina were managing the squad rather than hodgson and lee. Gerrard told hodgson to "shut it" a number of times and that he had better find a new captain because he wasn't playing under him ever again.

also we need to get rid of torres, glen johnson, kryiarcos, skyrtel, maxi, ngog and half of our squad and bring in fresh new faces for example. . honda, elia, a consistent center forward, a left back, a center back and maybe one more winger. . what do you think ed? {ed's note - I think a new manager, with fresh ideas and attacking intent, will see a change in all the players. ED anything new about what happend at half time and if its true that some players refuse to play more under Hodgson?

I really hope that's not true, no mather how bad the manager is you should as a players respect him. Remember what happend to the France squad under world cup, would been a nightmare if something like that happend in Liverpool.

I think like most of the other Liverpool fans that this job is to big for Hodgson, but to defend him a bit, all the three goals against us today was awfull defense and when we have players cashing in 50.000£ and more a week, then you can't make mistakes like that! {ed's note - I haven't heard any more yet.}
