hey ED001, I haven't posted much lately but was interested to know your thoughts on Gaston Ramirez... I watched a good amount of Serie A games last year but I believe only 2 involved Bologna. He looks like quite a talent in my opinion(from limited game action I saw) and I've been reading basically everywhere online that he is close to joining us..I'm hoping for it and was wondering if u had any info to help clarify the situation for me? Thanks.

phillyred {Ed002's Note - My thoughts on Ramirez are real easy to find.}

Rumour has it gaston ramirez is 99% a done deal. Fantastic news !

GET REAL

Ed do you think he is nailed on like aguero was last year. {Ed002's Note - No. The big difference is that there is a chance of Ramirez joining Liverpool.}

Raphael Honigstein reporting that there has been no bid for Callejon from Liverpool and the Marca report was inaccurate.
Thought it was a bit farfetched myself.

Marca is like the s*n, ignore it

The telegraph is reporting that we are close to signing Borini. Rodgers is close to concluding a deal.

Cheers
Mighty reds

Read the article and it still mentions Borini as being co-owned between Parma and Roma. I thought that was all sorted and he is now fully owned by Roma and going nowhere

If you read the report in full, you'll realise its a re-print of an old story, as it says Borini's ownership is still unresolved. Unless we've all fallen into a parallel universe, that was sorted weeks ago!

Just goes to show that no one knows who BR and Liverpool are looking at and are just looking to print stories in the hope that one will be correct!

Calnadrak

Mate that was written by Luke Edwards who hasnt got a clue whats going on in his own head never mind the LFC boardroom. The Robster. ( in no way libellous :)

Get with the times, he was part-owned and is now fully owned by Roma, and if I remember correctly said leaving Roma was never an option

I'm sure I won't be the only person to reply by saying this is an old story (lazy journalism, etc, etc). Roma bought out Parma's share of the player 2 weeks ago after which Borini himself pledged his future to Roma and specifically dismissed reports linking him to Liverpool. Of course, Roma may be looking to make a quick profit but doubt.

He's already gone to Roma..oh dear lol

Doubt it, he already went to Roma I believe.

I hope not.

Before alba moved to barca were we interested in him {Ed022's Note - No.}

Before messi signed for barca we offered him a fiver a week and a packet of rainbow drops

06 Jul 2012 19:39:39
It also looks increasingly likely that Athletico Madrid will be the ones signing Tello, not Liverpool unfortunately...

Eds it was stated by Ramirez's agent that two acceptable bids were being considered 1 from England and 1 from Germany Do you think we made the bid from England or Reckon it was Man City? {Ed022's Note - I'm unaware of any bid put in by an English team.}

It was probably us as we didn't go for sigardson.

06 Jul 2012 18:30:16
I am by no means saying this is going to happen but The good old eurobot on yahoo is often fairly accurate like our Eds etc...
(Sorry for cut and paste)

Eurobot:
I would say Gaston Ramirez is most likely set for Liverpool, simply because they need a creative midfielder and most noises are coming from there. The problem is that someone like Manchester City or PSG could just decide they fancy him, and outpunch the Reds. If City decide they're a bit bored and fancy another big signing, they could move for him, while PSG may opt to dispense with Javier Pastore after a so-so season. Depends on the competition, but Liverpool for me.

Personally hope its true and while i have been very optimistic i will say if we should fail to get Ramirez i will be gutted and wondering who else we could get as good as him, and as well suited to LFC game

gareth

There out there and you might not know there name see your not a scout or a member of bucks staff so if we dont get ramirez wel just suck it up and move on

I hope we get him too mate, young, creative and looks like he would play well at LFC

Crappy playground journalism, sounds like its been written by a 12 year old.

Hi All

FC Barca have confirmed they will let Cristian Tello go on loan!

TheBA300

Sign him
Victor

What the bloody point Victor?!?!?. As we know how sly Barcelona are, they will probably put a stipulation that should he do well then wd can buy him and after a few seasons they can buy him back for a smaller fee than he will b worth by then or more stupidly, if Tello does well then the loan deal is terminated!!!...

I think the point may be at least he knows where the net is. If he can help us get top 4 and back in champions league we may be in a better position to buy a decent permanent replacement at that point.

"Whats the bloody point?" Well for a start if he does play really well for one year then goes back then hes playing really well for US!

Yes and? He won't come to us will he

Why don't we just get affelay, his buy out clause is 6m

Exactly my thoughts... that would make us a feeder club to the mighty Slyselona.

I hope we get him with an option to buy. however, giving stirling a chance could pay off!

Yes, what's the point?!

Get us to 4th place then let him go back? Are we that close to 4th or he is that good that can carry us that far?

Honestly, if he were that good, why don't Barca keeps him for themselves?

I think he would be fantastic. However, he will likely be loaned to Italian team.

We should take him. If he plays well and qualify for CL. Then i don't mind he going back yo Barca.

If tellos so good why dont barca keep him ...
response well maybe because they have 4 of the top 20 players in the world Messi Xavi Villa Iniesta, this kid is just competing with greats,

Are we interested in Hugo Lloris {Ed002's Note - If REina leaves then perhaps. At present AC Milan and Arsenal are showing an interest.}

Is that interest in Reina or Lloris ed? {Ed002's Note - Lloris.}

Arsenal, Ed002? Do they not rate Szczeny (sp) then? He seems too promising to be a backup (at least to me).

Just curious, but appreciate your insight.

RDL {Ed002's Note - I don't know about "rating" him, but there is interest in Lloris.}

Please stop this nonsense. Peep is not leaving.

I think we need to do one of two things with Pepe.
1. we sell Pepe and Buy Marc Ter Stegen who is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world.
or
2. we keep Pepe and bring back Xavi Valero who was the one who worked with Pepe when he was the best keeper in England and up there in the world, Pepe even says he works brilliantly with him.

06 Jul 2012 16:05:17
modric apparently agreed terms with madrid truth eds could this release any of there players for us {Ed002's Note - We know which players Real Madrid are willing to let leave - primarily from midfield. What we don't know of is any confirmed interest from Liverpool in them.}

Sahin, Gago, Granero, Lass Diarra and possibly khedira.

06 Jul 2012 15:32:25
right sounds unrealistic but i reckon it's worth at least looking into, Juan Mata? Chelsea have signed Marin and Hazard and are trying to get Hulk and Moses. I know it's a squad game and Di Matteo has a rotation policy but surely he wont be happy sitting on the bench half the time despite being their best player last season.. thoughts?

Why would they sell their best player?

Don't be ridiculous

Chris in Tamworth

Who'll sit on the bench are marin and moses

Behave will ya !

Whos to say he will be they could be sat on it just as easy arnt they trying to build from scratch

I think that mata may get some forward time

Would be a dream come true, but wages and fee are always an issue if you're not backed by a russian billionaire. id be overjoyed to see him, suarez, and ramirez working together

You need to move on

As if Mata will be on the bench haha. First name on the team sheet.. (almost)

Mata can play cm an that's we're theyll put him

If Mata rumours start again I might just scream! Remember the whole "he'll play the first half for Valencia and second for us"?

Rob

Most idiotic post i have read yet,and that is saying something

The rumour of Walcott going to Liverpool have got much stronger in the last 24 hours there may be some truth in this.

That rumour was in the newspaper that shall be nameless so I have been told since I don't read it.

Has the rumour got stronger, possibly because people have put two and two together and come up with 10? RvP is looking like he's on his way out, which could be a set back to Arsenal, and as Walcott has a year left on his contract and hasn't renewed, and it has dawned on people that Walcott would be a good signing, coupled with the fact that he was a LFC supporter as a boy = WALCOTT SIGNING!

Don't get me wrong, i'd love him to be at LFC, but all this about him signing as been pure speculation

Eh confused.com

Hopefully he moves somewhere as his development has stalled. I would hope Italy as his pace would be devastating + their tactical game would hopefully make him a better player.

The rumour has probably picked up pace due to many people assuming Walcott wanting to jump the sinking ship that is Arsenal and follow RvP out.

Omg i hope to god this is not true,

Maybe now that he has some senior players around him he could perform but his head doesnt know where its at once hes took a player on cracking shot and cross but getting one out of him is not happenin, He crumbles under pressure and if downing could not wear the shirt after the season he had i dont see wher walcott will strengthen our team

How could you hope its not true walcott is fast he can play winger or striker he can score goal as we saw for england and supported liverpool as kid he wouldbe a great signing

Thought we had interest in him under Dalglish

06 Jul 2012 14:31:34
Any chance of us getting Oscar great talent {Ed002's Note - Internacional's Oscar has the attention of Barcelona, Spurs and Inter Milan. I would be surprised if there were interest from Liverpool. Perhaps a little too early for a move this summer and I think a move is unlikely right now.}

Stated today he is happy where he is and does not want to move

06 Jul 2012 14:25:43
Juventus have bid 30m for Luis Suarez. A meeting will take place next between them and Liverpool regarding this. LFC feel they can get more and are willing to sell. If LFC are willing to sell, then Luis will 100% leave

What a load of tosh ,Brendan Rodgers has said he wants him to sign new contract

Well Rodgers would say that, it makes it harder to agree a fee if buying clubs feel the player is settled or is off limits. Rodgers is doing his job and doing it well. Its been well documented on here that there was always a risk Suarez could go after the Evra case.

Doesn't mean he will though

Why are you listening to idle LFC-battering paper talk over our own manager? BR doesn't want to sell him!

Have you took your tablets yet.?

Yes BR wants him to stay and what not but its a different matter if the club wants to sell him. The club will only sell him if the right price comes along.
FowlerGod.

Load of she*p!

Rumba

If Suarez goes then it sends out the wrong message. He is a world class footballer. Probably the only one we have although Stevie can reach the heights now and again. If lose Suarez then you can kiss goodbye to Ramierez. Coates may think about his position as well.

Nothing to see here, move on! Rodgers has also had a positive talk with Luis, Luis complimented him on his football, sounds like they had a bit of a love in! , anyway unless it's an offer the club can't turn down, ie a Torres situation then I don't think he will go this season, feel he will see how we progress. RedAnt

Suarez is an excellent player but £30m+ will be good business for LFC. And will fund a move for a quality replacement. His disciplinary record over the last couple of seasons has got FSG worried and they will not countenance any more negative publicity impacting global marketing initiatives. If the right offer comes in he will be sold.

Believe Juventus are more interested in Van Persie than Suarez. I believe Suarez has dropped down their batting order.

They are getting RVP they dont need another striker

Van Persie is goin barca...how many times do i need to say this,suarez will stay aswell,.....juventus will go for cavini

The only hope we have for next season at the minuite is the fact we have suarez in our team! If we sold him it would be a disaster....we currently have a mid table squad, we have 4 world class players in skrtel, agger, gerrard and suarez and thats it! people need to wake up and If anything... at this moment in time our squad is worse than before now kuyt has gone.

JOZLFC

Anything is possible in football. no player is bigger than a club

I find the fee of 30m pretty unlikely seeing as they only offered Arsenal 8m for RVP

To the fella that suggested £30m would get a quality replacement; we don't want to replace quality with quality. We want to add quality to the quality we already have. Otherwise it's just a vicious cycle and we don't get any better.

Tony D

Good one mate!

that's why br said himself that suarez will not leave this summer!!!

Haha don't bite to him

Anyone posting about Suarez leaving should be banned from this site, idiots

Eds, just seen the comment about rvp and would like your opinion on transfers....why wouldnt teams offer a ridiculously low amount for a player with 1 year left on his contract? in effect say juve want him and offer arsenal 5m but offer rvp 250k a week ...then we made an offer of 30m with 80k a week, arsenal would bite our fingers off but rvp would want the bigger wage forcing them to keep him for his last year and getting nothing for him? so in other words a team could offer 5m for rvp with a 250k wage on a 3yr deal and it would cost them about 40+m including wages...and 60-70m if they pay full wack for him....just estimates to try and get my point across, thanks

JOZLFC {Ed001's Note - and then Juve run the risk of not getting him when he is free.}

The meeting was 3 week ago.i thinking u just woke up.
Arvin

He is going nowhere

They offered 8 Mill for RVP because he's in the final year of his contract.

He aint leaving. All we need is a goal poacher and we will be scoring many more goals. Another winger and maybe raheem sterling getting more chances and I think we are good.

Getting bored of these Suarez leaving rumours. Rodgers has spoken to Luis recently and is confident he will stay, Luis wants to stay. What part of that do you not understand?

You are a complete kn.b

I hope he goes nowhere

billynwa

NO THEY HAVENT.

Why would they put £30 mil for suarez when they could get Van Persie, who they'd prefer for under £20mil? it make s no sense and will not happen {Ed002's Note - I am told that Juventus are not looking to pursue van Persie any longer.}

Been told the same. Suarez is younger and will become one of the best players around. I really do see a deal being done here

06 Jul 2012 14:15:28
Quick question eds, Daniel Sturridge keeps getting linked with us. Surely he wouldn't come anywhere near fitting the Rodgers style of play. He probably made about 10 passes all of last season. Do you believe there is genuine interest or not? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not made an approach to Chelsea about Sturridge.}

Isnt he still in hospital suffering from meninghitus!? (spelling)!
gaz the red

He would be well suited to the right side of the front three

Praise the lord!
Someone on here with some common sense.
Stur & Walcott both play with their heads to the floor - Cant see us going for either
And really hope we dont go for either
5uarezTimes

So have liverpool approached Chelsea about someone else then?
H

Just what I was thinking H

R@

People complain about Carroll not fitting into Rodgers' passing philosophy...Carroll is a significantly better passer than Sturridge...

Is Lucas Leiva expected to return for the start of the season? Personally feel this is as important as any signing we could make. {Ed002's Note - He has gone back on the injury list, which may just be a precaution. August 18 is the date the club have put on him as being available for first team selection.}

He has been training so its good news have a look on LFC website theres pics of him training wth rest of squad {Ed002's Note - I think it is a precaution but perhaps he will have a cameo or two in pre season.}

Agree with this post! Lucas is a real key for us in my opinion

True ED002 u may be rite may not see much of him as in games over pre-season, cant wait for his return tho.

Ed seen pics today off Lucas in training with the rest of the guys. Did he pick up knock today? {Ed002's Note - No. He can train but they will want to minimise any risk associated with a full game.}

Ed002, out of curiosity do you get this information from physioroom.com or do you have your own sources with regards injuries?

Thanks

Richards {Ed002's Note - Most clubs issue statements, sometimes tagged on the end of press releases. Physio Room actually does a pretty good job of collating them and chasing clubs who don't make information available.

Can you post the link to the LFC injury list please ed? {Ed002's Note - Your best bet would be to try "physio room" - you can google it. What I had was tagged on to a press release.}

The video of the team training this morning showed Lucas kicking a ball and running - doesnt look injured to me. {Ed002's Note - Nobody is suggesting he can't train or kick a ball. I assume you could not be bothered to read all of the post.}

Any truth in Fenerbahçe lookin at Aqua cheers Bon {Ed002's Note - They have a long standing interest - I don't know if the player would consider a move to Turkey though.}

How come he is so desperate to leave Liverpool. I mean he must have wanted to play for us or he would never have signed in the first place.

Has he fallen out with somebody since as the regime he singed under is pretty much gone. Rafa never did seem to fancy him once he did eventually get fit.

Pretty bot like him in Turkey-could be Midnight Express treatment ho ho

Any talk of pato from ac milan? i know its a long shot but would this be the brazilian everyone is talking about coming to anfield? redcav {Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely.}

What Brazilian everyone is talking about?

Ganso has just broken off talks with Santos...

Imagine Turkey over Liverpool LOOL

I'll drag him to turkey myself

Hard to imagine some as obviously useless as aquilani has any say left in his career. he should be swimming to turkey :)

06 Jul 2012 11:42:46
Hye Eds,

Heard that Spurs willing to listen offers for Rafael Van der Vaart. Is Rodgers has interest in RVDV? How much his value nowadays?

ChronosYNWA. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know of interest in him aside from Schalke right now.}

His proneness to injury would surely rule him out. He is a great talent but half the time he is on the physio table.

Would love this to happen he would be a brilliant addition but he will go back to germany to be close to his wife who works for a tv company over there

Less speed and endurance than charlie adam, no way.

According to Daily Mail, a fee of £10m-plus is likely to be enough to capture Rafael van der Vaart.

Good player who made a real difference to Spurs last season. But can't imagine he fits FSG's or Rodgers' profile for new players coming in. They aren't necessarily looking for quick fixes, more like long term investments.

I think Hamburg are also in contention to sign him...

Thanks

Kam

Why would he take a step down?

06 Jul 2012 11:32:12
hi, Eds. what of you think of Álvaro Negredo? we were in for him during the suarez fiasco. Any chance of getting him?

Ratan {Ed002's Note - Negredo was offered to Chelsea last year but I understand not for sale right now. That could change if a high bid is made and there seems to be some interest from Malaga.}

Negredo is s**t

Is this the guy in the european championships final that the ball kept bouncing off? no thanks we have had enough donkeys up front.

06 Jul 2012 11:28:25
Victor Moses is poised to sign for Chelsea :( but BR is set to snap up wilfried zaha instead. Juan Vargas and jovetic are targets and BR is hoping to strike a player plus cash deal involving Aquilani to get them both. Jovetic is attracting lots of interest however. Dempsey is set to sign for Liverpool for 12 million. Spearing, Adam and maxi will be leaving if adequate offers come in. Hugo lloris could replace reins if pep wishes to leave with Milan interested. Also being mentioned is interest from Milan in Carroll, any deal would include pato coming to Anfield. J-ME

You had me untill victor moses to chelsea

And the sad face

You know a post is bull when he says he knows everyone liverpool will sign :L

Dempsey - 29 years old, 12 million, no resale value - you are seriously having a laugh. That statement alone makes the whole post guesswork at best.

John B

Apart from the first 8 words, everything else is old news/rumours

Pure B.S.

Why would we sell carroll with pato coming to us? carroll is just coming into form and will be massively important this season and pato has a history of being injury prone and plus carroll will not want to go to italy if he was to leave anfield would be for another PL team

U mean 12m dollars?

Absolute nonsense sir!

You mean 12m rupees

Idiot !

Carroll swap for Pato? - One of the rising brazilian strikers that probably has a value of £40 Million+?

06 Jul 2012 10:44:17
Eds, brilliant site, some posts can get on your nerves, but that is to be expected, as it is a rumour site.
I've got one point to make, and two questions for you.
First, my point, it's all well and good to be linked with exciting young talents á la Ramirez, however, may I just remind people of the case of the single most technically gifted players we have had before the arrival of Suarez. That man is Ryan Babel, I may get slaughtered by 'fans' for this, but I will defend the fella to the hilt. He had it all, blistering pace, strength, two great feet, a great shot and ability to spare. Despite all this, we as a club, destroyed the lad. Yes, much of the blame can go to Rafa for that, but we must also not look past those who slaughtered him from the stands. My point is, any young talent that Rodgers sees fit to bring in, the fans have to give them a chance.
Anyway, first question, who do you reckon will be leaving the club in the next couple of weeks, I'm expecting you to say Maxi etc. but is there anyone else that you can see being taken off the wage bill, whether that be on a free or sold?
Second, and this may not be to do with Liverpool, but nonetheless, it is something that I would like to see happen. Have any of you heard any feasible rumours regarding Celtic making a move into English football, I saw recently on a Celtic forum something about them looking to acquire Portsmouth's Football League license, not the club itself, but it's place in the Football League, meaning that they would start off in League One.
I'd appreciate it if you could post this on the rumours page, as I'd like to hear any info or indeed what you, or others think about what I've said/asked, even if they do feel the need to slaughter me. Tah.

RedNero {Ed002's Note - I would not want to second guess Rodgers' assessment of teh team but certainly I would expect at least Maxi and Aquilani to move on. Celtic would need to relocate the club to England to play in the English leagues unless there is a rule change.}

So.... Rafa was genius enough to be telling the world in 2007 what a player Lucas was every day on the training pitch while the world mocked him, but somehow at the same time he missed all the things you saw in Babel and "ruined him"? Ever considered the fact that YOU might not know what you're on about mate? Utter bullhonkey. Babel was never good enough to play for Liverpool and Rafa only bought him because his budget only stretched to B list players like Babel and Kuyt. Go and support City mate.

Just a question on that last point ed - is it a different rule for scottish teams than for welsh, since swansea and cardiff both compete in english leagues? would be interesting to find out {Ed002's Note - THere was a bilateral agreement linking the English and Welsh FAs.}

Ed you say Celtic would have to move to England but how do Swansea and Cardiff get to play in the English leagues?

We destroyed the lad?

Maybe if the guy concentrated on football and not making rap videos...

He used to whinge everyday about having to take an Ice bath after training...

Never understand LFC fans affiliations with some flops such as Aqualani and Babel...

KKM...

Well u have clearly been watching a different player to the one I and many other reds were watching, he only has himself to blame with is poor attitude and lazyness, he wouldn't stand a chance in a team managed by Rodgers. He couldn't controll his legs never mind a football. Anyway we all have our opinions I'm just glad that Rodgers is our manager and not you.

RedAnt

Babel was the most one footed footballer i've ever seen. he had his chances & never lived up to the hype. shame as he was one the fans really wanted to succeed.

Oh and it's no good having all the ability in the world if u don't have a footballing brain to match which babel clearly didn't. The best thing he done in the time he was there was post the picture of Howard Webb in a United shirt!

Sorry Nero but Babel was just not good enough.He certainly had some ability but seemed to lack a "football brain". I think his performances for the club certainly showed there was something lacking and he has not exactly been a world beater since he left.

I can see where your coming from regarding babel, but I think the blame should lie with babel himself rather than Liverpool. He had chances and, despite all his ability, he didn't have the mentality to perform on a consistent basis.

Welsh clubs were allowed into the prem because there was no Welsh pro league at the time they applied to join. So that's why Welsh clubs were allowed in but Acottish clubs won't be.

Babel was a player with lots of potential, he didn't help himself by not putting in full effort, but nevertheless he was decent. If he had been played as a 2nd striker (his actual position) instead of being forced out to the wing he would've been better. Did he ever have a decent run in the side? No. And yes I know he had a few games upfront towards the end but cmon. So yeah, he didn't help himself, but he was a player that could've become good if utilised in the right way.

I too was a fan of babel but his downfall was his mental ability not his physical.
As for the welsh/Scottish clubs - I think you will also find that Swansea/Cardiff are not allowed to qualify for Europe through an English competition. Therefore of swansea were to win the Fa cup/finish top 4 they would not be granted European football.
This is because for all the English and welsh FA allow them to play in England, UEFA do not allow a club to qualify for Europe from
Another countries league.
Gaz

Along with Cardiff and Swansea you will find that Wrexham, Newport and Merthyr Tydfil still play under the English football League.

Being from Merthyr myself I've been waiting for the day we make it up to the prem and qualify for Champions league (alongside Liverpool of course)

XO21

I get really frustrated when I read Liverpool fans rubbishing Babel. If he was afforded the same nurturing, development and man management as Lucas then I am sure we had a worldy on our books. Remember everyone including myself thought Lucas was Rafa's love child. The chances that kid got. Lets remember what happened to Babel cos I worry about Sterling If he doesn't hit the ground running the dissenters will start.

Why do people give Benitez credit about Lucas - same as Torres and Alonso - it was a no brainer - Brazilian under 20 captain, was signed after scoring 4 goals in South American Youth Championship, the boy always had the talent - funny how he was only really accepted and proved his obvious talent after the waiter left.

John B

There comes a point when its down to the individual. Not everything is down to Rafa, Kenny or anyone else. I loved Babel, but, time after time, I was left with my head in my hands begging him to do the business. I'll never forget winning the penalty against arsenal or last minute winners, but doing it every week was down to home...and he didn't

John B..... Lucas 'the under 20 captain' has turned out to be a good'n after been given plenty of time.... Might need to give Jordan Henderson 'the under 21 captain' the same amount of time, and maybe he will turn out good as well. Just need to give the lad a fair crack and get off his back a bit, seemed to work for Lucas. Ant B

Ryan Babel was an absolute joke with a bad attitude and an inability to keep the football. End of. Why has he been released by Hoffenheim if he is so good?

Babel was indeed of the most technically gifted footballers ever to play for the pool. Shame it didnt work out for him. I feel he really needed a lenghty run of games , never happened. Graham souness was a hard technically gifted pool footballer too and he is a c**t. lay off Babel.

Epl more like BPL come on let them in why not.
ed002 so why dont they move seansea to england ??
whats good for the goose is good for the ganda.

barrabas {Ed002's Note - Read the post properly.}

Aren't Rangers considering buying another teams place aswell? It's probably best for Scottish football as there falling rapidly. Couldn't a deal be struck between the SFA and the FA to allow them to play?

Babel never concentrated on his football. It wasn't Benitez' fault. If he had some brains he could have been up there with the best players in the world. Instead now he is no one.

Babel lacked vision, end of. How has he gone since he's left us? Setting the world on fire is he?

Babel's first touch was dire, he needed about 20 chances to score, he was lazy, his attitude was terrible and, his worst attribute, he has the most stupid football brain I have ever seen on a football pitch. You can guarantee in every 50/50 situation that requires a quick, decisive response that he would choose the wrong decision. I do not, for a second, lament his departure - we did not ruin him, he was simply not good enough.

Look at Lucas - the lad was slaughtered for seasons and has now come good. I always felt sorry for him and thankfully he was stuck with and is now one of our best players. Some players need time, some are simply not good enough. For example I think Henderson needs time, I think Charlie Adam is simply not good enough.

SMc

Babel was a good player and until recently Lucas had been absolutely terrible. You could see that Babel had real ability.

Not true what was written above about Welsh teams. Cardiff would have qualified for Europe if they'd won the Carling Cup this year, a situation that was fixed after they were in the FA Cup Final in 2008 when they wouldn't have qualified. According to UEFA, Welsh teams playing in the English system are treated as English, which also means they cannot qualify through the Welsh Cup as they once used to many moons ago.

My understanding is that Celtic could apply to join the English FA and subsequently be treated as an English team.

Why since the league 1 play offs people has linked Alex Smithies to LFC. I know a lot of Huddersfield fans and seen him play myself and he is nothing special even for league 1 standards.
FowlerGod.

He was before he got injured, but since coming back from injury he just hasn't been as good. wether it's just a dip in form from the injury or not i don't know but he was showing signs of being a top keeper.
huddz red

Shut up smithies is good did you see the play-off final he was 10x better but then he got injured 2 seasons ago

Smithies is not good enough for LFC though, it would be a slightly better version of when we bought brad jones. Pointless.

We should get rhodes from huddersfield!

Purple nose went to c zidane once and said the same about him everyone can have an off day.tommy irish red.

both a.johnson and theo would both prefer to play at liverpool if given the choice,but wages could be the problem,also tiote could be on our radar....great site eds!

Tiote has been quoted as 20 mill so no

Tiote vs Lucas. Lucas every time

Tiote is hugely overrated, yeah he is decent but he gives so many fouls away and on the whole is pretty ordinary.

Why would they want to play eu ropey league over c/l..

Tote won't join a team below us and living in the past. Your rumours have to be the worst on this site. Be realistic for who you want

I know weve overpaid in transfer fees and salaries but fear we could be going to opposite extreme and cutting nose to spite face

Yep i'm sure arsenal are paying walcott(spelling?) huge wages

Let's hope we don't end up like the gunners.Qualify for the champs league every year,come close to winning something,have a healthy turnover,and sell our best players every year for a huge profit!

Why would we want Tiote? We have LUCAS!! Tiote is a load of BS anyway, just hacks people down and gets yellows and gives free kicks away!

it looks like past liverpool target pablo armero is closing to napoli in co-ownership deal of 5.5 mil approximate .

What a surprise!

Eds is there any interest Theo Walcott as its looking like he'll be leaving Arsenal? {Ed002's Note - If he leaves I suspect there will be interest from a number of clubs - maybe he will look at options abroad?}

Well if he wants to leave, and we need a right wing he could be a good right wing with talent and is very young aswell.
But the best about him is he is a LIVERPOOOL FC FAAAN!

Nah he will stay in the PL. If he is looking to leave BR HAS to get him. He has twice the ability of Sinclair and Dyer and has a lot more experience.

06 Jul 2012 09:30:23
Is there any Interest in Real madrid Jose Callejon Eds? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Callejon and don't see him being sold this summer.}

06 Jul 2012 05:57:15
Any truth in LUCAS Moura to the spam and Ganso to Spurs? If so great signings for both clubs Id be super jealous! Also Jovetic to Liverpool any basis or is it all hot air? Dont see Jovetic and Ramirez coming tho!! Miami_Red {Ed002's Note - if he becomes available there will be interest from several clubs but for now he is not available. Chelsea have had a couple of bids rejected; Real Madrid offered a part exchange deal that was rejected; his agent still wants him to go to Inter in a complex part ownership deal; Manchester United could show an interest. If anything happens it will be dragged out for a while yet. The Ganso situation is made complex due to ongoing sponsorship and injury issues.}

How about we get Oscar to complete the Brazilian transfer trifecta!

06 Jul 2012 04:48:34
is there any interest in Gaitan? {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Barcelona both showed interest in the winger but Inter PSG or Napoli may be the first to eventually put an offer on the table for Gaitan. My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica in January but no bid was made. I understand that it remains the case that no firm bid has been made but Benfica are aware of sustained interest and are aware that Inter Milan are now looking at the player. Asking price is and will continue to be an issue. If Manchester United can agree a price I am told that the player would welcome the move. Napoli are actively seeking a replacement for Lavezzi and still may return for Gaitan or Ramirez.}

West Ham are interested in Spearing if the price is right. The main problem is he doesn't want to leave Liverpool.

Would we get a fee for him ? or just let him go ?

Don't just let him go, he may lose his way.

Drive him there to be sure he arrives and insist on payment "on receipt of goods"

Spearing don't wana leave liverpool well the pixie could always sign for tramere his hometown club

As fans we should get behind our players rather than constantly slating them. If he's not good enough then I'm sure that will be dealt with but you can't fault his effort and desire to play for Liverpool.

I agree this guy may not be at the level required for us but you cannot blame him for that ..same with downing ..everyone new he didn't have end product and it's a poor lfc transfer for £20 mil ..it's not about effort it's about quality (how many players have we bought for £20mil that ad not even worth half that in resale ? It's seriously bad business I'm afraid
LFC aid

Why dont we all chip in an pay west ham to have him...

He better leave because he is crap!

Firstly downing does have an end product, at least 10 assists for the last few years. SPearing can stay as a squad player, he would run through a brick wall for the club and he should be allowed to stay.

Watching him run through a brick wall would be more entertaining. I'm sorry he's just not good enough. Downing - end product? Really? Nice guy, but when did he last beat his man? I'm struggling.. Oh, and how many assists last season, with Andy C in the box - 0. Not good enough.

Spearing is good enough to be a premier league player but i feel he would be up to playing for liverpool if we want to get to the champions league, but if he does go good luck to him.

I HOPE this is true,he gives away the ball so much,cant defend or attack...not a bad passer but thats about it,needs to go!

I feel Spearing has showed glimpses of quality but not enough to deserve a place in the team. It's a shame to think that he has the right attitude but not enough quality while there's players like Aqualani who are the opposite

I was at the game when Spearing destroyed Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Any 'fans' bitching about how he isn't good enough need to pull their head out of their arses.

Spearing has the desire and commitment that has been lacking in several of the big name purchases over the last few years and hopefully won't leave but continue to be a steady hardworking squad player.

Do you really think we could get a squad full of the Kaka's and that would be fine?

Get real, Spearing is a grafter, fights for the shirt and I applaud that above all else.

He may be a grafter m8 but get with it ur the only one who thinks so,hes about 5ft 1 inches no pace no attacking flair rubbish at defending,....wow 1 game against madrid ,that all u can back him up with

Would like him to go in a 1 year loan in order he gets more minutes and improve his passing. After this we may reconsider his place in LFC (I'll be pleased if he stays); his attitude deserves a last oportunity.

But the main problem is liverpool doesn't want him

Omg i swear the way he defends is annoyyying to watch. He waves his arms in the air and I don't know if its to put the guy off or to help himself generate the necessary force to move.

The problem is he doesn't want to leave? No.

If real were calling he'd already be there. The problem is he doesn't want to leave Liverpool for the hammers

- Logic

Theo Walcotts agent has been in contact with a number of clubs including Liverpool sounding out options as he is following RVP in refusing a new contract and is actively seeking a transfer. I do not know how interested LFC are.... The Robster.

I like Walcott as an impact player mainly due to his pace and least he goes at defenders. I know people will criticise his delivery but is this an essential if we are going to be adapting our style to a more pass and move style.

I would certainly welcome him to Anfield

When Arsenal were trying to sign him, I believe it was a toss up between us and them as to who he went to! Seem to remember something about him being a fan of ours!! (although to be fair, so was Robbie Keane! lol)

AC milan are after Andy carrol , Source BBC sport

Welcome to 2012

Quote "AC Milan are interested in signing Liverpool striker Andy Carroll. Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the son of Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, has been acting as a transfer consultant for the Italian club and has identified Carroll as a potential signing" And the Source is the Sun I wouldn't read to much into it, i'm pretty sure these rumors have already been rubbished.

Cheers yesterday's news

"Yesterday's News". Would we get "Yesterdays" money for him ?

05 Jul 2012 23:44:35
if chelsea were to get rvp surley that would push daniel sturidge closer to the exit door. do u think that would give us a better chance of signin him.. cheers love the site. irish red

Liverpool WILL NOT SIGN Sturridge. BRs philosophy is all about the TEAM. Sturridge does not know what that means.

Not sure I am that excited about Sturridge. He's good, but nothing special and I don't think he will improve us greatly. I guess it would give better depth in the squad.
He's a bit like DeFoe and Wellbeck. Good players but do not have that 'special' factor about them.

The last thing we want is a selfish winger

when xavi's past it aged 36+ and no longer good enough to start for barca we should offer him a massive contract because of the amount that everyone of all age groups at the club could learn from him. it may help our academy produce players with 5% better technical ability while the rest of english football is still churning out parker's and barry's. we should really be signing guti for the same puropse now or we could wait for xabi alonso when he's past it

Bed time??

Why not the whole barca team?
Yes, with a massive wage offer... what a healthy daily laugh. thanks!

Its the guys that taught him we need and we all ready have them!! rb + ps

billynwa

How about no, that would be a massive waste of money, if I wanted to learn something there is only one bloke I would watch, stevie g

Stupidest post I have ever read. why not sign Pele?

Talk about past it........way past your bedtime son you are suffering from sleep deprivation

I don't remember Guti being anything special apart from looking a little like a ladyboy at times.

Also wtf I actually can't be bothered pointing out the tens of reason why bringing in Xavi would be stupid.

I love the idea but would sign those types of players as coaches rather than players, incase that wasnt what you were suggesting?

Thanks

Kam

We have at Liverpool FCC academy all the the ex Barcelona coaches, why would we need xavi? If you go and watch the under 9's upwards you will see the influence those coaches having on the way kiss play the game.

While good in theory, I'm sure you'd have a different view if it was your money that you were throwing at such a massive contract.

Not sure how much use this would be for someone who has never played in england and doesn't speak any english - so wouldn't be very effective in passing on his knowledge and ability.

Also, I'm sure if he was going to do such a thing when his time at barca ends he would much prefer to do it in his own country. What do you think the reaction would be if Steven Gerrard, in a couple of years decided to go and share all his football knowledge & ability with France for example!

If i was gonna choose some people to be coaches these would be them

carra
alonso/murphy
fowler

Sounds lk good business to me! !

Would you not stop to think that perhaps barca may have the same idea for the academy? Silly boy. I see where you are coming from though, you must of thought long and hard x

When Xavi is 36, I ecpect liverpool to be king of the hill once again

Leave the kid alone. I think he is entitled to an opinion like the rest of us.

Did it cross your mind he might be doing that at Barca? And Guti? joker, he's crap

Yeah sure thing.
