=======================================

Don't know how old you are but it's to bed and return to this dream you just wrote. We have bid £8m for Enrique. We won't be signing Downing or Adam. More like Marveaux and either N'Zogbia or Mata (Mata preferred) along with Jones and Henderson.

eds, for the sake of argument let's say that jones did get a tour of the facilities. could that happen before a fee has been agreed upon? before or after personal terms? just wondering what this means for the state of negotiations. many thanks! {Ed001's Note - it could mean nothing at all, players often visit for a tour of stadiums and training grounds. But, according to what I have been told, the club asked some first team players to be there to sell the club to him. Which suggests it means we are just trying to get him to sign and that a fee is at least close to being agreed.}

Is it true that Phil Jones was at Melwood today? Can anyone confirm this?

06 Jun 2011 22:51:44
Doni, Henderson and Phil Jones look likely to wrap up their deals this week for fees of £2.5m, £18.5m and £13.5m respectively, joing pre-contract agreed Sylvain Marveaux through the gates at Melwood.

Director of Football Damien Comolli will then be working with Manager Kenny Dalglish to finalise deals for Connor Wickham for around £5m up front with size able add ons taking the fee to around £10m, and Jose Enrique with a £8m bid lodged last week for the Spanish left back.

The final task will be the signing of another winger through the Anfield doors with Juan Mata (Valencia) topping the list followed by Charles N'Zogbia and Stewart Downing also on the list.

Liverpool second favourites to sign aguero at 3/1 at SkyBet, Real Madrid just above evens at 5/4 ?!?!

Been Like that for a few days, since thursday i think.

Do you reckon the odds would be similar for aguero to be assassinated if he went to real madrid, 5/4 seems like a very good price lol

Was at Wembley in Saturday and was speaking to Phil Neal. The guy is a true gent. Anyway he was telling me about the European finals he played in and how he played against John barnes prior to Liverpool signing him and jb being the toughest Phil had played against. To cut along story longer he reckons that it's Downing that we want....not young. He also reckons that the main focus is wingers who can cross a ball.

bojan coming for 17.5 million. for a three year contract, i think this is good and bad, because we already have splashed out of strikers so we need to spend money on midfield and defence more than anything, but he will score some brill goals for us and will boost the teams confidence

They all sound pretty reasonable. Except Elia and Aguero. I can tell you that Elia is not one of our main targets, just a back-up if others fail. This is what I posted before regarding Aguero...

'Liverpool have a wage budget of 120K per player (maximum) and Sergio wants at least 180k

FSV are prepared to offer the £39M required but if Sergio does not budge on his wages we have no chance.'

I too have sources in Melwood.

Thanks, James.

Make of this what you will.

Had a conversation with an old friend earlier, and we eventually got talking about the Boston red sox(he's a journalist for a local paper there) and whilst he was stating that the investment of fsg(although he still likes to call them nesv:) into the red sox has been substantial he said he secretly had his worries that in a few years time he would be concerned that they may not be as interested in investing as much into baseball as they previously have.

I stated I couldn't understand his worries based on the fact that they have just invested a whole shed load of money quite recently, to which he replied that it's so obvious that it's heart breaking, because a lot of red sox fans can't see the woods for the trees.

When I asked him to elaborate, he explained that nesv(fsg, see above why the reference) recently bought a "soccer team" and that whilst at the moment, they were happy to enjoy the platform with Liverpool, there is a real worry in many fans eyes that this soccer team will become the real jewel in the nesv(fsg) crown.

The fact that soccer is the biggest money maker in world sports is further proof to him that is why nesv(fsg) purchased Liverpool.

That coupled with the fact that during a dinner at a sports award ceremony, he managed to ask John henry a few questions relating to the red sox and also his other sports aquisitions at home and abroad.

Whilst (he told me) Henry gave a reasonable response about the future of the red sox, he also said that he became emotional and almost dreamy whilst talking about "his soccer team", he said that they are planning on not only investing big this year with the squad, but they also plan to maximise the revenue of the soccer teams enormous fan base!

The basis of this will become apparent in the coming weeks with the pre season tour etc, but in America they are planning on marketing Liverpool like never before (although given our previous owners that shouldn't be too hard).

But Henry also said that Liverpool's huge global appeal will only expand because of the shrewd signing of Lebron James especially in the Asian Market, but he said also in the south American and Hispanic markets.

When asked what he meant he was told that the soccer coach wants to sign a player called sergio for roughly $75 million dollars, whilst initially concerned about the price, he was reassured that the commercial revenue alone would bring this amount back within 6 months of the transfer price, most notably just on figures received from the amount fans who would be buying the new products with his name on it, that coupled with exploiting the soccer markets in the USA and also Asia, especially again since Lebron has been sporting the gear of this club!

So when asked about the size of the transfer budget for "this soccer coach" he was told whatever the guys need they will have it, so long as the revenue projection can justify the price.

This enthusiasm for this "soccer" club had him worried...because as he said when John Henry starts getting excited about his sports franchises his cheque book will remain open, and that means his jumbo cigars will have to wait.

It goes against logic but Xabi Alonso just might be heading back to Anfield....his interview on LFC .... Pepe Reina feeling settled again...and the trips to Spain by various people....and Kenny knows a good midfielder when he sees one...if Xabi was 2/3 years younger it would be nailed on...just hope he can be signed despite his advancing years as he will run our midfield for at least the next 3 years

Juan Mata is heading to Merseyside after being promised Champions League football next season. Valencia CF are believed to be willing to accept bids above the £20 million mark due to their level of debt.

Other news, The Reds are rumoured to be interested in Jones of Blackburn, Johnson of City and Chamberlin of Southampton.

As much as I would love to see mata in a liverpool shirt, champions league football cannot be promised, are we going to sabotage other teams, although I do sometimes on football manager (got man u relegated)

England Under 21 star Henderson wants his Liverpool move wrapped up by Wednesday and the Anfield club have made an improved £18million bid.

Ipswich s Connor Wickham could also be on his way to Liverpool once they increase their offer to £10m.

I was talking to John Aldridge at a Sportsmans dinner about 6 weeks ago and got to have a private crack with him regarding possible transfers. He didnt say any particular player was coming in.................

But what he did say was that when Torres left for Chelsea and Caroll came in during the last transfer window, that the owners actually wanted Torres to stay.
He said the owners would have brought in Carrol anyway. He also said we had a bid turned down for Micah Richards from City in that window as well, and the bid was as high as 20 million pounds.

He also said that there will be massive investment this year.

He said there is no transfer kitty as such but if a player is available, young and will improve the team - with a possible sell on value then the owners WILL pay the money.
This not to say we will get the Aguero's or Hazards of the world, mainly due to the lack of Europen football, but it does mean we have the finances to compete for them and then its down to how much Liverpool FC is attractive to the player.

Please post guys, have not submitted a rumour before.

The Reds have enjoyed a flourishing end to a campaign that started so dismally, and permanent manager-in-waiting Dalglish has already drawn up a transfer hit-list with director of football Damien Comolli.
One of the priority names on the list for this summer is left winger Mata, according to Spanish reporter Guillem Balague.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at the Mestalla, and has helped guide Valencia to third in the table with seven goals in 27 appearances.
And with the Spanish club crippled by around £350m-worth of debt, a bid in the region of £20million for Mata may be too much for them to resist.
Aston Villa s Ashley Young is also a reported target for the Reds, as Dalglish looks to fill the left-wing void in his side.
But he ll face stiff competition for the England international, as Manchester United are also known to be keen.

Liverpool have agreed a fee of £22M for Juan Mata with Valencia. They now have permission to speak to the player and his agent. However, he will not officialy join Liverpool until after Spain finish their U21 european championship campaign. The deal is not initialy worth £22M, it is worth around £18.5M initialy with £3.5M in add ons depending upon his performance in the U21 european championships and the premier league next season.

We have bid for Jordan Henderson but not the £18M reported. My source within Sunderland said it was around the £10M mark. It is rumoured within Sunderland that the club will agree to sell for around £15M plus add ons.

There has been no bid for any other player that we are rumoured to be interested in as yet but we have inquired about several players and been quoted massive fees for Enrique, Downing and McCarthy (who we have subsequently dropped our interest in according to the players agent)

Therefore a fee has been agreed between the two clubs. His Release Clause is 30m which is £26m but I can see it being more like £23.5m which is what I heard.

Not going to beat around the bush. It is just what I have heard from Spain in the last half hour. Juan Mata has been given permission to TALK to LFC. That is all, nothing more, as far as I know, no bids yet.

We wouldn't be able to talk to Mata without a fee being agreed first.

Apparently Liverpool are trying to tie up deals for Jordan Henderson & Phil Jones for 16.5 million and 11 million.
Sylvain Marveaux Liverpool's worse kept secret will join on July 1st

Pacheco and Wilson are being sent out on loan to Norwich and Rangers.
Shelvey may be loaned out to Swansea
Gulasci will also be sent out on loan

What do you make of it Ed?, i think its great that we are moving for young English premiership talent, because with Gerrard the wrong side of 30, Henderson is one of the few i would consider to be able to step into Gerrard's shoes in a few years, And IMO i think Phil Jones is the next John Terry

Also is Adam Johnson leaving Man city?, just that i heard we may make a move for him

Just an aside here, i fully expect the following to leave Liverpool this summer
Alberto Aquilani 9-12 million
Insua free
Paul Konchesky 1 million
Philipp Degen 800k
Nabil El Zhar 400k
Christian Poulsen 2 million
Milan Jovanovic 2.5 million
David Ngog 6 million
Sotirios Kyrgiakos free-1.3 million
Stephen Darby 3 million
Fabio Aurelio 2 million
Nathan Eccleston 3 million
All in all adding approximatively 32-34 million to our kitty

Thanks
Dan {Ed001's Note - I think it is harsh to compare Jones with Terry! I am sure he is nothing like him, and hopefully not as overrated and slow as Terry has always been.}

Liverpool are reportedly readying a bid for Qpr playmaker Adel Taarabt as Kenny Dalglish looks to bring in youthful additions to his Anfield squad this summer. The Moroccan international had an excellent season at Loftus Road last term helping Neil Warnock s side to the Championship title and is now the subject of great interest from a number of clubs both in the Premier League and from the continent.

The 22 year old former Lens man is a player that Liverpool s director of football Damien Comolli knows well having brought the precocious talent to Tottenham during his stint at White Hart Lane. The French talent spotter now hopes to lure the playmaker to Merseyside.

Qpr boss Warnock has stated his concern that the West London side will not be able to keep hold of such a talented individual and with the likes of Arsenal, Juventus and a number of La Liga sides said to be interested the Super Hoops may struggle to keep Taarabt at the club.

Taarabt had two loan spells at QPR whilst at Tottenham and was signed on a permanent basis last summer for a fee of around £2.5m and it is believed that Liverpool are willing to offer three times that amount as an opening bid.

I heard some news from someone that is ITK at Tottenham. Apparently, they're not looking at Joe Cole nor are they interested in signing him. Apparently Spurs are doing all they can to keep Moderic and Van Der Vaart before (publicly) talking about potential signings.
I don't have any more details than that but this guy is usually spot on.
I don't have any news on targets or who is going, but thought I'd share this with you all.
For the record, I am a Liverpool fan and I wouldn't mind seeing Cole stay another season as a last chance. He has been unlucky this season but I also think he can still bring something to the team other than another name on the injury list.
Keep up the good work Eds.

Last weekend Tom Werner came to London to have various meetings with certain players agents.
He was supposed to have been joined by John Henry but his schedule was to tight to participate in, preliminary talks known to have taken place were with aguero's agent and mata's agent.

The meeting that are planned this week again will take place in London, with what fans consider to be the "marquee" signings, but behind the scenes talks are taking place at a vigourous pace with the likes of Henderson and wickham, but there are also several talks happening within the next few days.

It's also alleged that kenny IS interested in bojan but negotiations are at a VERY early stage...

Also again take with a pinch of salt but by all accounts JH and TW are supposed to travel here this week to talk to sergio's agent again and to seal a deal for mata, once an agreement is in place comolli will travel to Melanie with kenny to unveil the player they end up signing.

This is expected to happen within the next fortnight, so long as negotiations aren't protracted out to long.

But please also note that we still have over 80 days of the transfer window being open.

Liverpool are battling AC Milan for Standard Liege midfielder Axel Witsel.

Liverpool have offered £10m for the 22-year-old, whose club rate him at £13m.

Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida watched him in action on Friday for Belgium in their Euro 2012 qualifying draw against Turkey.

And it was not a good night for Witsel, as he blazed a match-winning 74th-minute penalty over the bar.

Ed, what's all this news coming about Meireles leaving.....idoes he want to go. Do you rate him? Thanks in advance! {Ed001's Note - all I know is that he wasn't keen on playing on the wing and he is seen as very lightweight. I don't know if he is likely to go or not. As for rating him, he has ability but he bottles out of challenges all the time, I would happily sell him myself, I think we could do far better.}
---------------------------------------------------

I posted about this a week or so ago. I have spoken to various people who all tell me the same thing. He has been shifted out wide to make way for younger, better players, which he is unhappy about. With Liverpool looking to sign three wingers, one being Marveaux, where does that leave Meireles? His contract is currently under review, as part of the original deal to bring him to the club, and it seems very unlikely that Dalglish and Comolli will offer him a new one. He is too lightweight for this league, often gets caught in posession and backs out of challenges. For me, if you take away his five strikes he has done nothing this season. Meireles seems to think of himself as a big name player and for some reason has a lot of hype about him, and so fancies his chances of finding a new club willing to pay the large fee for him. Many people have voiced their concerns over Liverpool being over-staffed in the central-midfield position with the deal Liverpool are trying to strike with Sunderland over Henderson, but with Poulsen and Aquilani almost certain to leave the club, the management team are looking to have five centre-mids for next season. With Spearing and Lucas signing new deals, Gerrard staying at the club and Shelvey in the manager's plans for the future, there is a high possibility of Meireles being sold and being replaced with a young British player, whether it is Henderson, McCarthy or someone who has not yet been mentioned. On a different note, both Dalglish and Comolli want to bring in Connor Wickham, and Dalglish prefers either Phil Jones or Scot Dann in defence as he wants a few young British players to come this summer. The concern over Dann is his fitness, and Phil Jones, despite the higher price tag, looks to be the favourite out of the two. He is already solid physically and is an excellent tackler, but has issues over his positional play. Marveaux will probably join and the club is trying to settle on a fee for Mata with Perotti or Downing possibly being the final winger. I have no clue what is happening over the left-back position. I don't know whether Liverpool are still negotiating with Newcastle over Enrique or whether they have moved onto other targets like Vargas or Izzaguire. Surprisingly, Dalglish is not considering selling or releasing Aurelio, despite his fitness issues and the emergence of Jack Robinson.

If anyone paying attention to my posts from a month or so ago ( I know ed002 did coz he she tore me to pieces) they would be aware of the alonso info as I said then back then that madrid were not openly selling alonso but would entertain offers as they felt sahin could comfortably fill in for him. Alonso while happy there would also be open to it.
I got this info from a spanish journalist a month ago.

Danny Wilson is set to return to Rangers just a year after quitting Ibrox in a £5million switch to Liverpool.

Reds manager Kenny Dalglish is an admirer of Wilson but wants the 19-year-old defender to head back north for some first-team experience.
Wilson has started one Premier League game since arriving at Anfield last July and has played a handful of Europa League matches.

The Scotland international has been offered back to the SPL champions on a season-long loan.

Ed I have a funny feeling we will get Henderson(RM, CM) , Mata(LM, CAM, 2nd ST) , Downing(RM, LM) , Marveaux(LM) , Izaguirre(LB) , Wickham(ST).
With half of these we will cover numerous positions. And I also think Henderson will just be back up for anyone injured like Meireles or Gerrard.
What do you think about them transfers Ed ? thanks. {Ed002's Note - All are possible.}

Why not we buy players that other club things are surplus .. and still can be sqaud players
Spurs :- bassong , Bently, Crouch, Kranchar
City :- Wrigth Philips, Given
Chelsea :- Kalou

They will come cheap as backups and allow too spend big on first team

Reliable source told me Liverpool have had a bid for Mata rejected....around about 12million....Valencia are looking for 25million....seems like DC is back to his old tricks that he tried with Suarez
----------------------------------
Doubt we'd go in that low for someone like Mata, the club will already have an idea what Valencia want and may have put a lower bid in but doubt it would be that low

---------------------------------------------------

To be fair we did do exactly the same thing with Suarez.

---------------------------------------------------

And to be fair to Comolli, he did do exactly the same with Suarez but for a good reason. Ajax wanted close to £30m for Suarez and Comolli offered a much lower price, saying that that amount is what Liverpool valued him. Obviously Liverpool rated him much higher than their original transfer fee, but because the both clubs' valuation seemed so far apart, they compromised and met the valuation halfway, being the £23m we paid for him. Comolli is a very clever negotiator and I still dont think we will sign Mata anyway but if we did, the fee would probably be around £20m plus. Remember City apparently had a bid of 20m Euros turned down so Valencia aren't budging from their valuation much either.

To clarify some users writing BS about Mata, there hasn't been a bid for Juan Manuel Mata (as of yet). Why would Damien Comolli and Liverpool FC bid £12m for Mata when Man City had a £17m rejected. Please at least make us think you are telling the truth when lying.

We are more likely to go in with an offer or around £20m. Personally I can't see Mata coming to Liverpool however, Marveaux and Charles N'Zogbia will be the wingers coming to Liverpool.

Next season the King will be playing a formation similar to Barcelona's and how we lined up in the final 5 games of the season 4-3-3. We need proper wingers however to give the squad dept in case of injuries or loss of form etc.

Bojan would be a good signing doubt it will be Liverpool tho, in regards to the edd saying he wont leave spain he will go anywhere for first team football he is getting to the age now where as sitting on the bench at barca isnt enough. i heard Radio reports today that he would welcome a move away from spain. {Ed002's Note - Aside from Liverpool, there is also interest from Valencia, Arsenal, Dortmund and Bayern Munich. It was suggested to me a couple on months ago by a very well respected football pundit that Bojan may be offered up as part of a deal to take Juan Mata to Barcelona. I wonder if Arsenal might not prefer Bojan to Affelay as a sweetener if they are to let Fabregas move to Barcelona - it could be a deal that suits everyone. I would not be surprised if Malaga enquired as well.}

Joe Cole is off to Spurs, but he will go on a free - The deal has been struck between to two clubs on the understanding Spurs withdrawal their interest in Scott Parker, who KK see's as the perfect man to add a little steel and class to our midfield - KK felt if the two clubs went toe to toe with offers for Parker, it could raise his price more than the £2m/£3m they would get for Parker - Sounds a good idea, assuming Parker wants to join us !!

New Rangers boss Ally McCoist hopes to bring Liverpool defender Danny Wilson back to Ibrox.

Scottish papers say Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has sanctioned a summer loan switch for Scotland starlet Wilson.

Top teenager Wilson swapped Ibrox for Anfield a year ago in a remarkable deal worth a potential £5million after just 24 first team games.

The stopper, 19, signed on the recommendation of Dalglish, has managed just eight appearances, with only one Premiership start. Neither Wilson nor Dalglish is interested in a permanent transfer from Merseyside. {Ed002's Note - This seems perfectly likely.}

Liverpool have made a new £18.5m bid for Sunderland's 20-year-old midfielder Jordan Henderson - £5m more than last week's opening offer.

Ed,

With widespread rumours of Henderson coming to Liverpool, I have a very strong feeling that Steven Gerrard may be made to play in the right wing next season..........

Where else can Dalglish accomodate Lucas, Meirelles, Spearing, Shelvey and Henderson??

If Henderson is done, then I think these may be the other purchases

Another young/backup striker (may be Wickham)
A left back (may be Enrique)
A left winger (may be Mata)

I would think good sensible signings......

Because without getting mad like all the other circus rumours this is what may happen I am afraid.......

Morning Eds
Just 'keeping it real' as I believe the kids say nowadays, do you think that Liverpool's initial plan was...
Friedel / Jones / Enrique / Henderson / Downing / Marveaux & Wickham?

Obviously, now Brad has opted for Spurs another keeper is to come in, presumably on a free but if I were a betting man I think the rest may well arrive.

What do you think? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what the plan is about GKs. The club may be priced out of the market for Enrique and look elsewhere - Izaguirre may be an option.}

Just read on mail sport page, sorry it was a link to the story that Liverpool have won the race to sign Henderson from Manchester for 18 mil. It said that Bruce wanted Wellbeck, Gibson and wasn't sure about Obertan or Bebe only joking even Sunderland wouldn't want them.The third player he wanted was Wes Brown.It reported that Henderson has his heart set on Liverpool and wants it sorted by Wednesday, so Bruce is going to have to pay cash if he wants the Manchester players in question.He'll be gutted at that i bet, he's wasn't given the Bent money to replace him and it nearly cost them their place in the Prem, bet he really wanted the swap because once bitten twice shy re Sunderland putting big money sales back into the transfer kitty. I can't believe this Bendtner crap is surfacing again, i would honestly rather a front pairing of Voronin and Ngog with Gonzalez and El Zhar providing service, than to have just Bendtner in our current squad.

If these henderson for £18.5m rumours are true than that means we have paid £53.5m for him & Carroll combined. I trust FSG otherwise I would have thought that we could have used that money better.

Summer buys will include the below.

Jan Vertonghen Ajax 10 million.
Samir Nasri Arsenal 10 million.

Both quality additions

Mate what are you smoking, why would Arsenal sell Nasri for 10million and why would he want to come to a non CL team, he will go to United/Man C or Real or Inter/AC somewhere like that.

Coady could be loaned to Ipswich next season, as part of the Wickham deal. Jewell is looking to strengthen his squad with some premiership quality faces.

Also Chamberlain is likely going to Arsenal contrary to what i was previously told from source at St Marys. Intention of being loaned back to Southampton i believe. Hes defo one for the future.
