Hi ED002 is there anything new regarding who Coutinho might sign for?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Philippe Coutinho (AM/LW) Bayern Munich will not take up their option on the player leaving Barcelona stuck finding a solution for a player they want gone. After missing out on Bruno Fernandes and Hakim Ziyech, Spurs have enquired after Coutinho and been told that a loan fee would €30M for a season with an option to buy at €50M at the end of the season. That would make a move pretty much impossible so Barcelona will need to look at reducing and restructuring the costs. Liverpool will, I am sure, of discussed him as an option as he is well known to the club, but unless a low loan fee could be agreed I cannot see them seriously going down that route. Leicester have made an enquiry, but they will also likely consider the costs beyond their reach. I am not sure if it has happened yet but I know that he will be offered to Arsenal but there would need to be a creative deal put in place. There have been several questions about Chelsea looking to him. Chelsea and Barcelona met but it was to discuss another player. I am not aware of any discussion about Coutinho between the clubs. Barcelona could well look to package him up as part of a deal for a player they are looking to buy – but it will be a tough sell.}

The obvious global situation obviously won't help them any, it's a shame for him that things haven't worked out I would have him back as I think he's still a fantastic player but I'm sure others wouldn't, are PSG not an option in some kind of package involving neymar?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Possibly but it is another player the two clubs can reach a compromise on.}

Hi Ed002 do we have any interest in Ferran Torres is Sevilla please?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ferran Torres (RW/LW) considered as a potential Jadon Sancho replacement but likely priced out of a move to Borussia Dortmund - will end up at Real Madrid or Barcelona in all probability at some point. But, if Salah were to depart Liverpool he could well become an option for them but for now that is not the case. The player has made no secret of his desire to join Barcelona at some point. Valencia have a replacement lined up but the €100M asking price would need to drop to make a transfer anywhere viable this summer. Juventus has enquired after his availability but would need to make sales to fund a move. A third party has suggested to Manchester United that Ferran Torres would be a better option to Jadon Sancho as the deal would be far, far cheaper for them.}

Hi Ed, do we still hold interest in Ben White or Ben Godfrey? If so, I assume they'd be an alternative to DC as opposed to instead of?

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am comfortable saying that Ben Godfrey can be scratched.

Diego Carlos (CB) Manchester City have dropped their interest and are looking at others. Real Madrid has a sustained interest, but the focus will be getting a priority signing done first, seeing what funds can be raised and then returning for DC. Barcelona have him on their list of CBs but money is going to be an issue this summer and they will look to horse trade - and are now in talks with the club of another player. Priority for Barcelona is like Real Madrid - get their priority transfer completed and then see where they are. Liverpool has declared an interest in taking DC in the summer. If this happens, I think it would be the big move for the club this summer and would leave Gomez picking up pieces across the defence. May be viable for Liverpool to include Xherdan Shaqiri in a deal.
Ben White (CB) potentially the pick of the younger home grown CBs - if Diego Carlos were to arrive or a CB were not to leave, he can also be scratched. Has a significant advantage over Carlos as he is home grown - and Liverpool has a HG problem. Might well become the preferred choice over Carlos as a Lovren replacement - but it would push Joe Gomez down the pecking order.

If he is a Lovren replacement how will it push Gomez down the pecking order?

White would push Gomez down the pecking order? must be some player.

Thanks ed, i guess from your perspective what would you want to see happen in the CB space?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Diego Carlos would be a very good buy as a partner for van Dyke but it won't ease the HG issue, and there is serious interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Ben White is seen as the best of the English youngsters and Brighton know he wants to make the step up - and Liverpool are very keen on him and he is five years younger than Diego Carlos.}

Anyway we sign both Ed if Lovren leaves?

Hi Ed002

When you say you think it maybe the big move for Liverpool this summer, can I assume you don't believe Timo Werner to arrive to Pool?
Or, you don't see that as a big move?

Sorry for the questions, I just wanted to clarify on your end so I have a better understanding.

Kind regards
Tommy T.

{Ed002's Note - The situation with Timo Werner remains unchanged.

Timo Werner (S) RBL know of the interest of Chelsea who consider TW as a suitable replacement for Giroud - but they have other options. Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid remain keen - but this could change quickly depending on other targets clubs have - equally if other clubs were not able to sign their targets, interest in TW might increase. Atletico signing Cavani would likely kill off their interest and they have financial issues. There is clearly interest from Klopp, but would Timo Werner be interested in a move to sit on the bench at Liverpool most of the time? If the answer is yes, or if Firmino is leaving then it makes sense. Many of the fans expect Klopp to numerous players without anyone leaving and then completely change tactics and rotate them - it makes zero sense and the club has to meet Home Grown quotas as well. Last summer there was an approach from PSG who wanted Werner as a Cavani replacement - in the end Cavani stayed and they took Icardi on loan. PSG are concerned about being shunned by Icardi and have looked at TW but have not declared any interest. Mr Mourinho is keen for Spurs to take him but there are concerns about the cost. The interest of Dortmund has gone with the signing of Haarland - but could return in the summer if Real Madrid could prise Haaland away. Bayern Munich were never going to do business in January and played down all transfer talk but there is no doubt that Robert Lewandowski, who will be 32 at the start of next season, is going to need replacing in the next 18 months - and the plan had always been that it would be Timo Werner - they could yet look to do something or perhaps suggest he waits another year at RBL who have offered a new contract. The player has always said he wants to play for Manchester United one day but a move last summer was not possible and then Werner said he wanted to play for Bayern Munich over all others. There was a third party trying to negotiate for a BM move last summer but they were a long way apart on price and RBL looked to extend. As BM were expected to need Werner this coming summer, a release clause was agreed with his new contract that would make him available at a low fee so RBL would keep him another year and then he could move to Bayern Munich this summer. Now after a potential illegal approach he clearly wants to join Liverpool - the riot act has been read to him over public statements and his club is very unhappy at Liverpool.

There was a meeting between RBL and Inter Milan in London in mid February when Inter were in town to discuss transfers with Chelsea. Inter enquired after the availability of TW but were told by RBL that they were resigned to losing Werner as the player had his head turned by Liverpool – although Liverpool had yet to approach RBL at all.

Although the fat kid from Bolton has again announced it as a done deal - as he has done for more than a year, it simply isn't true although a large number of Liverpool fans think it is. RBL may look to keeping the player for a further year if Bayern Munich are not prepared to utilise the release clause just yet. Or perhaps Liverpool will do the honest thing and approach RBL with a very good offer to tempt them to sell?}

Any interest in Milot Rashica? Just seen a few reports! Also do you think Werner and Carlos will join us?

Thanks!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Milot Rashica (LW/RW) another possible Jadon Sancho replacement or indeed a Leroy Sane option and there is interest from both Borussia Dortmund, RBL and Bayern Munich. Werder Bremen don't want to sell (but could be relegated). Rashica plays predominently on the left, like several of the many Sancho replacements, but is seen as versatile. Dortmund are looking at a number of possible Sancho replacements that they have identified and others also play predominently on the left. I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool to Werder Bremen nor any declaration of interest from his agent or lawyer but it would be interesting if their were and I would not rule it out. He would certainly provide good cover for Mane and work as a replacement for Shakiri - game time might be of concern to the player.
