Arda Turan will not be joining Liverpool this year, but I think that Roy has had meetings with his agent and Galatasaray in that LFC will have the first option on the player because of his desire to play for LFC. We all know Harry is a big fan of him as well, but competing with Lennon and Bentley will not suit him well. In a years time he will be 24 and a bit more mature and ready for the step up at Liverpool and will slot nicely into the RW position. Just check him out on Youtube and you will see the talent he has running and making smart and creative movements all over the pitch. LFC will play the year with Maxi, Pacheco and even Kuyt (also as 2nd striker) on the right flanks. If there is a need, I'm sure Roy might move for him in January for about 12m pounds or in a deal involving Babel. He will offload Maxi if there is improvement in Pacheco's game with Pacheco coming of the bench to Arda and even Cole. Liverpool should sell Nemeth, ElZhar, Itanje, Mascherano, Kyriakgos just before the transfer deadline. Poulson seems to be on the way (would have preferred Nigel De Jong) and if possible a power LWB (Matty Taylor, Figueroa, Contreao[money required]). Roy will also be assessing Aquilani until Christmas and may move him in the Jan Transfer market if he's not settling in. Remember, to win a league you must have depth and we all know with all the ego's sitting on the bench, it may not be easy for some to sit on the bench and watch.

This is pure speculation but Purslow was recently negotiating a deal in Spain of which we have heard nothing else (at the time the Ed was fairly certain that this was with a Madrid based club). The takeover situation seems to be taking shape as Broughton had hoped it would with a deal hopefully being concluded before the end of the transfer window. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that in actual fact Purslow was striking a deal for Aguero as the 'marquee' signing for any potential new owner? His name has been linked with the club so often now that it would be hugely popular with the fans, no matter who the new owner is. It may also persuade Mascherano that he has a future with LFC too (although I don't know how popular he will be after his recent antics). Still think we're short of a left back and a skillful wide player.

Everyone seems to know exactly what is happening regarding the takeover. You can read 4 or 5 different stories all stating that they are 100% FACT.
There are numerous different theories on who we will and won't sign, whose leaving and whose staying.
And that is the beauty of rumours, they are just that, RUMOURS.

Sheikh Mohammed bin rashid al Maktoum to agree £420m deal before the Arsenal game. Roy will then select his transfer targets while the Premier League do background checks etc on Sheikh Mohammed. These checks will be completed within 10 days and the takeover will then be officially complete. Transfers will then be wrapped up in the last week of the window.

I have a source from inside of Liverpool. Milner is in fact joining LFC. MON did not say he was going to City, rather that he was leaving. The deal involves Babel going the other way, and the fee in a region on £18m. With another home grown player coming in, Roy is attempting a bid for Eric Abidal. He wants to add extra experience to the squad while Martin Kelly is improving. Hennessey of Wolves is a target for Roy, but will only be persued if Brad Jones cannot be snatched for around £2.5m. Masch looks unlikely to join, but Insua, Kygriakos, and Kuyt looks set to leave. Kuyt is only being aloud to leave as Roy thinks that Pacheco can step up to the mark this season.

CLEAR UP A FEW RUMOURED TRANSFERS:
1- ARTETA -definitely not coming. Just signed a 5 year deal. Shame , as he is a quality player and we could have signed for 15m odd.
2- CROUCH- Not happening. Last chance to play UCL as he will be 30 and already showed he lacks the pace and strength to play as a lone striker.
3- MILNER - we would never pay 25-30m for a lad who was bought for 12 m and hasnt all of a sudden become worth double his value under villa.
However - as Inter have cooled their interest in Masch and Barca have missed out on Fabregas. . expect Mascherano to push for a move to la liga.
We will ask for Pedro as part exchange + cash but likely to be knocked back. So will go for a straight 28m fee.
Roys logic - If Fabregas worth 50/60 mil, Masch worth at least 30 and if Barca want the player, then it will be on our terms . not them throwing in a player of their choice.

Hi Fellas its uncle Lesley again. As i reported earlier Sheikh Maktoum has made an offer to blow Huang and Kirdi out the water. Maktoum has history with Unicef and hence the reason to take Kirdi out the picture. Maktoum feels by purchasing Liverpool it will give Dubai
a whole new revenue stream as the place is not booming like before. Expect breaking news and 2 quality signings to make a statement. £420m will seal the deal

I would play Gerrard and drop Poulsen with 2 up front (4-1-3-2), against the better teams, drop Remy and play Poulsen alongside Gerrard (4-2-3-1). We would also have good options off the bench with the likes of Kelly, Ayala, Agger, Insua, Kuyt, Maxi, Babel, Ngog, Soto, Shelvy and Pacheco

To me looks like there has potentially been another club come in for James Milner (dont know who) watch Martin O`neills interview on SSN he said that he didnt play Milner on the week end because there has beeen recent activity and a deal could be struck over the week end, then when asked whether man city had put a bid in for him his response was I ccouldnt tell you wether man city has put an improved bid in. Now this sounds to me that he has been told of an offer but obviously not from man city? come to your own conclusion. I think most likely other options for milner would be Chelsea, Inter milan, Liverpool (either player exchange or if a take over has been completed) or Barca as they have lost out on cesc. Any thoughts any one?

Although this is a rumour website, we still have to be realistic.
A top 2 finish? I think the most we can hope for is a top 4 finish.
Now for my rumours. Liverpool have a lot of dead wood, but a small transfer budget. By selling some of these players, most of which, the deluded Rafa signed, we could increase our budget. This would allow us to purchase some quality players.
Possible Outs,
Philip Degen, will probably make his loan move permanent. Expect about £1million for him.
Soto Kyrgiakos. With the arrival of Danny Wilson, the upcoming talent in Kelly and Connor Coady & Andre Wisdom coming through the ranks in the central of defence it seems we have enough cover for Carragher, Agger & Skrtel. Expect about £1.5million for him.
There is talk of Emiliano Insua going on loan to Fiorentina or Genoa, after the collapse of his move to the Viola. If he impresses, which is highly likely in the serie A, considering Dossena has done well there, then they could up their interest and bid around £5million.
Nabil El Zhar, could make us around £2million.
Diego Cavalieri could make up to £4million.
That adds up to £13.5million, enough to purchase either Arda Turan or Loic Remy. Turan, has made his love of Liverpool clear, however is he a target of Woy's? Loic Remy has been linked with a host of English clubs, is Liverpool his preferred destination?
Javier Mascherano. Internazionale and Barcelona look to be the two main clubs interested. Woy has said he has not recieved any offers. Mascherano has expressed his desire to leave, personally I can't see why he would want to join Rafa, the loonatic's team? With talk of a takeover and a insurgence of new players fueling, is Mascha willing to stay another season? We would probably get around £28million for him.
Poulsen, an alternative to Lucas, a replacement to Lucas or a replacemnet for Mascha? Has Experience at the highest of levels. Don't see why fellow supporters are so anti-him, he might do well for us!
If Cavalieri leaves, Brad Jones will probabaly arrive for £3million.

This is a site for rumours and speculation. I dont care what anyone says no one knows whats going on with the club. . with transfers or the takeover. There is no way liverpool are going to have new owners in time to splash out on a world class player so stop dreaming. The two players roy hodgson was talking about the other day when he said he wanted to bring them in are probably poulsen and a cheap left back. I cant see us buying a striker as much as we need one because they are to expensive and we are going to play a 4 5 1 this year with cole behind torres. Some on these rumours and suggestions are laughable!!
Firstly you have people making there own suggestions for teams and including either 12 players (would be nice) or 10 (we struggled enough with 11).
And secondley the suggestions about us buying every half decent player going is not what we need!!
Although the new owners may come in I personally dont want us to become Chelsea or Man City and buying anyone going just because we can afford them! All we need is a new Stadium and maybe 1 or 2 signings. We have some talented kids coming through the ranks, Suso, Sterling, Amoo, Dalle Valle, Kelly all spring to mind. Lets use them with the senior players and really make a team for the future.

Everyone who thinks thay know RH's team seletion are basically completley wrong. although i dnt know the starting 11, the right sided midfield players (kuyt, babel, max) will play on the left and the left sided midfield players will play on the right. Hodgson likes his wingers cutting in field and have wingbacks who can get up and down. this is exactly what he did with fulham when duff was on the right and dempsy on the left, and he also done the same on thursday night.
Also liverpool are in talks with Porto for for i believe is Hulk as we do not have many left footed wing/forwards, only jovanivic.

I'm tired of the Arda Turan rumours. TURAN WILL NOT BE COMING TO LIVERPOOL.
Roy has never shown interest in him. These rumours came about because Arda said that he would love to play for Liverpool. People need to bear in mind that Roy is our manager now, not Rafa.

My crystal ball tells me Liverpool fc will be finally taken over the day before the next RBS loan interest payment. We will miss out on any transfers with the new budget in this transfer window and as we all know January's window never offers Top Quality potential signings. (either cup tied or key members of a setup)
Kaka is a no go he is out for 4 months with his knee not 2 months, so who would buy him between now and next summer? Brazilians and injuries seem to go hand in hand. Forget Crouch why would RH go backwards ?
The 'one or 2 signings' will be Young relatively unknowns.

Quick update on the Indian bid:
No real advances from the Bombay billions- only that they are waiting to see what Huangs consortium offer H&G.
They are keen not to make a formal bid as they (like huang) will not be held to ransom by the Yanks over inflated valuation of the club.
They know that the more interested parties will pump up the price.
In terms of what is being talked of is £400m max! They feel this is a more than reasonable fee for the club, especially as LFC have no UCL this season, which not only generates substantial income, but more importantly makes the LFC brand a more global appeal.
Expect a formal enquiry which will lead to bid once Huang has shown his hand. They are insistent that a bid be accepted by Weds 11th or they will walk away.
Apparently there is a meeting scheduled Monday evening in Mumbai so I will have an update then.
Hoping Mr Huang bids early next week so that we have at least 1 wealthy owner option to look forward to

Roy Hodgson has in mind re-signing Peter Crouch but is afraid the move could be seen as negative and is instead looking at signing Tomas Necid from CSKA Moscow. 6'2 20 year old of Czech nationality regarded as one to watch for the future, very similar type of player to the likes of Dzeko and Klose, that kind of breed... hes snooping around for about 7 million eurs or 5.5m for his services.

With these 2-3 players and the squad we have already we have on paper a better and younger squad than Man'ure and probably a better squad than Arsenal. There's 2 teams that probably have a better squad than us Man.Sh*tty and Chelsea and that's our squad before we even have new owners in place.
People have to stop saying who the starting 11 will be as i think RH dosn't know yet. How could he if he's looking to bring a couple of players in. He would certainly have an idea BUT what happens IF we do get new owners before the transfer window closes? They will probably want to sign a marquee singing just to appease the fans if nothing else.
In truth nobody know's what team will be starting against Arsenal.

Man City are still desparate to sell half their squad to apply with the new quota. So expect Roy to try and bring 2 or 3 City players to the club. When Mascherano leaves (why hasnt he gone yet!?) that will give us £25-30mil spending money.. I think we should try and sign...
Wright-Phillips for £9mil: I would love to see Turan coming this summer but the chances of it happening are becoming less and less likely, Roy prefers players with Premier League experience and Wright-Phillips could be our man!
Bridge for £6mil: if insua leaves, we can rotare between Aurelio and Bridge at left back. This will do us for a few seasons and give Chris Mavinga a chance to mature and become "home grown" and he can start in a few seasons.
Santa Cruz for £9mil: again he has Premier League experience, is a striker and is available, the only problem is that he is quite injury prone, so if Roy doesnt get Santa Cruz, expect him to look for a striker outside of the Premier League like Loïc Remy or Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

LFC dont need a LB, kelly has been fantastic in this position in his last two appearances so i feel he deserves the spot, with Aurelio as number 2. I dont much rate Fabio but he's better than Insua.
We have plenty of cm's so dont really think we need another, maybe a quality cdm and cambiasso if he wanted to join would be my choice, sting Rafa for 20mil plus the player.
I do think we really need a goal scorer, someone like Darren Bent, i know he may do bugger all for 80 mins of a game but we just need a player to bang a goal in, which is what he does quite often. And N'GOG seems to struggle with 9/10 chances that come his way. Someone like Aguero would be nice but not really essential. Dirk should maybe be pushed forward now as he can pinch goals and those he does score are usually very important. If Turan is bought in then i do believe Kuyt will player a more forward role, unless he joins Rafa, in which case we should accept no less than 15m. This Remy and Ruiz talk is not for me, i believe there are better talents already at the squad.
All in all i think we are in for a very interesting season.
ED i know you are a very busy man, with work and the other site but please dont leave us LFC fans in the cold, think we would all like to have your imput on club matters, leave those other club supporters to bicker amoungst themselves.

after listening to roy hodgson's interview he mentioned that mascherano will likely be involved against arsenal if nothing is resolved before then with his future sale as he is and will continue to be a liverpool player until the right bid comes in~if one does??.
i'd like to see aquilani and cole together with jovanovic and all given the opportunity to all be interchangeable.
i'd also expect to see the emergence of chris mavinga over the next 6 months at left back,roy wants a left back who can run and get up the byline with good distribution. ..he fits this bill and will save the club a fortune!!
i look at that eleven and cant find a weak link personally with 6/7/8 squad players we have to come in and continue to keep the team strong.

Please stop reading the SUN.. or listening to all the rest of the negative media during the witch hunt to get out the threat that rafa posed to manure and Chavski. there not 2 def mids. its exactly the same formation rafa always played (when at valencia and won there league and left M Owen to say when liverpool played them how outclassed they were by the formation) that he brought to the premiership .. that was copied and now played my Barcelona (both coaches), alex at manure, mourinho at chelsea.. and changed wengers at arsenal. yet when rafa played it.. it was to defensive!!.. (typical media) let me explain... both are utility players!! during defence yes you have 2 def mids.. during attacks down the middle one is DM the other moves forward to CM in-between the DM and gerrard.. but the main reason for them is this.. when the most attacking full back attacks (Johnson who is nearly always up there) the predominately DM player who is always on the right covers.. (hence why any idiot without any tactical insight raised an eyebrow when rafa play Mach at RB! cos for most of the games he was there anyway) and if the LB attacks (which your notice is never as often) the other CM covers, (this less attacking LB also means this left sided central midfielder isnt as far back for most of the game as the other cm/dm is... So although your right on paper it may seem defensive to play with 2dm's.. playing with only 1 means you can attack with both FB's and have cover... and with the 4-2-1-3 this means doubling up with a forward wingers (Very attacking) yet not being susceptible to counters (which are how most games are won and played).. if your team is baraclona or manue and chavski last season it works so much better. it was our team that let us down.. not the revolutionary tactics that have changed the game of today that rafa bought with him... p.s.. did you not notice woy played the same way.. and will continue to do so. Rant over.

Arsenal have launched a £23m bid for Liverpool 'keeper Pepe Riena. The bid comes after Barcelona failed to sign their captain Francesc Fabregas.
I really doubt that Pepe, who has committed his life to Liverpool will leave to join a worse team. After all Liverpool are the biggest club in the world.

Not sure what you guys think but I am sure we don't need 2 holding mids, 1 will do. This was the problem under Rafa. we could not score goals. If we just have one be it Pulson or who ever then we can play with 2 up top. I would like to see crouch back as he is good on the floor, holds up play and is a proven prem and international goal scorer...oh and English. i don't think we can afford Remy not in price but in lack of playing in the prem. Forget all these big name "players" such as Aguero etc... Kaka? Don't make me laugh. Could get three players with heart for that type of transfer fee and wages. These type of players are only after the money.
Arda Turan is the man for me, and I hope//think Roy. Would fit perfectly into Roy's system as he likes his wingers to come inside on to there stronger foot (left winger - right footed). He's quick, clever, very skillfull and is very tough. Loves playing 1 touch or can ghost past players as tho the're not there. His assist record is fanastic and he also scores goals.
Splashing money can't buy you soul, or a fire in the belly. Liverpool have both, and we look like building a platform to back this up.
Get behind EVERYONE this season boys. Old school kop style. Lets frighten the sh*te out of the opposition, not our own players.

Have heard that Liverpool are looking at getting Poulsen and also getting a player plus cash deal for Masch but have also heard that Barca are going to bid for Masch as they can't get Cesc Fab is there any truth in this? and Wayne Bridge is that just paper talk?

can't see Turan coming to anfield. not with joe cole, jovanovic, babel, maxi, and kuyt already playing similar positions.

It's really a shame we missed out on Chamakh, IMO the player Rafa should have signed last season instead of Aquilani. But apparently he is an Arsenal fan...not much you can do.

agree with alot of what im reading on here. theres no point in spending 5 million on a slightly better or same standard but english left back when we can get somebody expencive in the next window who will genuinely improve the squad. not sure on Poulsen but ill put my faith in Roy seen as his s**t seems to smell of roses atm. The 4-3-3 looks like the formation this season. we have so many players who can play in the winger positions that its a shame to waste them, (cole, kuyt, maxi, babel, jovanovic, pacheco). think getting a homegrown second choice keeper would be a smart move aslong as we sold diego to fund it who is very replaceable with a number of cheaper english options. would love to see a proper second striker come in aswell (10m +), any of the names being mentioned are fine by me, saying that i do think n'gog has improved over the summer and will one day be a good option.

I agree this position is now covered with Aurelio, Kelly (who looked the part) and Agger BUT Insua still looks like he will be off. Genoa are set to bid for him (he might do well in Serie A - if Dossena can, anyone can).

personal i think they will be poulsen and remy.
some people may think no it wont be remy but the fact is he is the most likely the other player we will get due to the fact tht he is traveling around england to check out all the interested clubs and we badly need abother striker.
im also concerned about aquilani getting his place on the starting 11 because he really looks like a class player, mi conern is due to the fact joe cole is playing in attacking midfield with gerrard also going forward, this means there most be a player in holding midfield which looks like poulsen will get tht postion.

i no there is better quality LB's out there but we cant be spending money on a postion thats already coverd instead of buying another striker which is needed badly!
i think we will wait until jan or next summer and buy a top quality LB like tawio with the money from the takeover (when ever it happens)

Its clear Roy has different ideas. For a start, you'll see from last nights game his preferred formation is 4-3-3.
Stevie G played the Alonso role, and lets be honest Stevie is a better player than Alonso. Joe Cole played in Stevie's more forward position and played excellently. Jovanavic looked a more capable wide player than Riera or Benayoun.

I totally agree with you. The best way to utilize both Gerrard and Cole is to play a 4-3-3 formation where they can both play central. Aquilani provides great cover for them too in that if either needs a match off he can fill in without a huge dropoff. I disagree with Gerrard playing the "Alonso" role though. The 4-3-3 is different from the 4-2-3-1. Alonso nearly always played very deep while in the 4-3-3 I think Gerrard will have much more freedom to go forward if he has the chance. In the game the other day he stayed back because there was no reason to move forward. Liverpool was never threatened in the game so there was no need to push up. However in the 2nd half of a tied game or a game where we are down a goal Stevie can push forward. Or really at any point of the game if he sees the opening.
One thing I think is that Poulson will be signed but may not replace Mascherano. If Lucas is sold then Poulson could replace Lucas and another DM could also be signed.
As for the forwards I think it would be great to add another one. Arda Turan would be great, he isnt a striker put could play a wide forward position. He is versatile enough to play right or left which would allow Jovanovic, Maxi or Kuyt to play opposite him.

Aquilani has shown us that all you need to do to pass a medical at Anfield is show up with a pulse... That said, I agree that kaka wont happen. I believe, with the exception of poulsen and a left back and striker from masch money, liverpools transfers are likely finished unless a takeover is completed in the next week or two.

Suarez wants to leave Ajax - scored 49 goals last season (35 in league). LFC almost went for Suarez in the Jan 2010 transfer window and Rafa was thinking of getting him this summer.
He can play as a striker or winger and might be the small mobile player Torres has been crying out to play with (Silva is @ Citeh and Aguero, who knows if he'll leave Atleti and @ what price).
