hey eds, just wondering on how you rate our chances on signing Bony? Thanks in advance. {Ed001's Note - not sure, with the likes of Chelsea, with much fatter wallets, showing interest, it will be difficult to attract him to us. I would think his club will try and hang on to him until the summer though to be honest.}

Sup ed, just wondering your opinions on the links of jeffren being loaned to liverpool. Hope it's true, what do you think? Do you reckon he'll be a good sighning(loan)?ive not seen much of him, what's he like?
Great site eds
Love ya! {Ed001's Note - I have heard nothing about this and can find no one who has either. Not seen him play in a long time, looked a bit of a headless chicken back then, but he could have improved a lot by now.}

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has made an enquiry about taking Jeffren Suarez on loan in January. During the summer window Liverpool, Sevilla and Napoli all showed an interest in a loan for Jeffren after his first season at Sporting Lisbon was impacted by injury. Despite rejecting loan moves in the summer he has now fallen out of favour in Lisbon following some poor performances meaning a loan might be now feasible in January. However, given (a) he is not playing well, (b) Barcelona retain and option on him, and (c) he has a ridiculously high release clause in his contract, it would be near impossible to sell him on the Iberian peninsula and it may be tough to sell him elsewhere right now.}

Eds ,fellow reds . Is there any legs in the Honda stories or is it an old story recycled? {Ed001's Note - it is more a reminder he is available again in January, I believe. Though I still hope there is more to it and we are actually after him, it is more hope than expectation.}

What happened at CSKA then ,he's only been there 18 months ? Have they fallen out or is it money . {Ed001's Note - most players in that league are unhappy, they don't realise what it is like. They can go nowhere without armed guards for starters. Almost any foreign player in that league would leave if they got the chance.}

You an me both ed001! He's outstanding

Square tomato {Ed001's Note - if I had my way we would have signed him years ago mate *sighs* no one listens to me though.}

Agree ed if we signed Honda and Llorente it would be the best January ever!

Square tomato {Ed001's Note - I would settle for either one!}

Eds any idea why no clubs are snapping him up, seems to be available in every transfer window.

Attitude problem? Injury prone?

PD6 {Ed001's Note - he is only available at the end of the season, which is the January window, he wasn't available in the summer. He is not settled in apparently. Like I said, it is a very different world there.}

A friend of mine seems convinced he will head to atletico, he's quite close with a lot of the Japanese national team.

I'd love it if we signed him, excellent player, would give us set piece danger, can play in the wide front positions and in midfield, hard working, good vision.

Sadly I don't think he will be coming to anfield.

Eds what do you think will happen to stewart Downing in january or the summer. Are liverpool actively trying to sell him or are we still going to try and keep him. Antrim Red {Ed001's Note - he is available for transfer.}

Thanks good to know Antrim Red

Downing has been given many opportunities to prove he has the desire and capacity to adapt to different team needs and has failed. The money invested in him is lost, if Rogers were offered a handful of magic beans in January he would accept.

Hope he goes,...Flog or free.

That Fabbrini has looked a decent player throughout the europa league, any chance eds?

Mati.d {Ed001's Note - the lad who fell over every time anyone got within 50 yards? He looked awful last night. I would really hope we aren't looking at him, Udinese don't sell their players cheap.}

The whole Udinese team fell over within yards of them, typical Italian teams.

Lee73

They deserve credit for one thing, though. Not once did all eleven fall over at the same time.

John CT

What about Sanchez Ed001? That was £30 million well spent by Barca {Ed001's Note - I wouldn't call that cheap, though I would call him a top class player I wish we had.}

Hi eds, caught offside are saying that Luis Suarez is demanding to leave Liverpool, is this true? Cheers JC {Ed002's Note - Are you trying to get me in trouble?}

PA! Funniest one I've seen in ages, how ridiculous! Also Caught Offside is all crap, made up stories to bring traffic to their site.

You can actually say "caught offside" on this site? ... almost seems like getting away with murder.

Caught Offside?? Really?? He most likely isn't I'd have thought, but if he is DEMANDING, just like Sterling is DEMANDING this and that, let them go and cash in. If you wanna play for us fair enough, if not... there's the door. Why do fans get so uptight about this kind of reporting

07 Dec 2012 19:36:21
Not one direct quote on the whole story. He was praising the side yesterday on his Twitter account

It's amazing that there are still some people that actually take anything that webrubbishe writes seriously.

Caught Offside is horse sh*ep. They reported that we'd signed Gaston Ramirez in the last window !

Hi Eds,
I really hope the news on sturridge isnt true! We can get a lot better! yes, okay hes young and english but hes shocking! too ball greedy, appalling touch and not clinical enough!
people saying hes a better shout than huntelaar, 3 words... ARE YOU SERIOUS? huntelaars record speaks for its self 258 goals in 398 games throughout his career! pretty impressive!
Any news on the huntelaar story eds? {Ed002's Note - going very well for him in Gelsenkirchen and they want him to sign a two year extension to his contract - and he wants to only sign for a further year. This is the reason for the impasse. However, Schalke said that they would likely sell if he refuses to agree any contract extension, and he hasn't - although that threat was there in the summer and they didn't sell. Fiorentina, Juventus, CSKA and Atletico Madrid have shown an interest with Napoli and Lazio appearing as possible destinations if he were to move in January, but several EPL sides are still looking for a striker: Arsenal (although they have other clear targets I would not be surprised to see him being considered), Chelsea (again he is by no means near the top of the shopping list but could be attractive to the club as a second striker) Spurs and Liverpool - both of which are interested at the right price, but I fear not the most attractive of options that Huntelaar has available. There is a valuation based on a buy out clause of 20M euros that Schalke might want to try and exercise, but even with several interested parties it seems unlikely that they could attain such a fee. The player himself could opt to sign a new deal or run down his contract and seek a hefty signing on fee in the summer.}

A fit and ready to fight Daniel Sturridge would be a very useful player for Liverpool but he isn't going to be the lynch pin signing that many or some want. He's not a Llorente/Falcao/Hulk marquee player that would sell the big top out, in an open and honestly respectful sense.

There is no reason why he couldn't develop into being a very confident and useful player week in and week out. He is a versatile player, who will chip in with goals and for £12 million at 23 years old, it might be a great buy over time? I'm slightly cautious over his signing but think he'll be a good player for us and one we need a this time.

There is nothing that will stop the ''he's rubbish'' comments flooding through Liverpool boards all over the planet, but that's because we forgotten how to produce players and how much patience it can take. Look to Lucas, even Johnson who was a cast out by many a fan because he struggled to make a regular impact.

Hi Ed002,
the rumour of possible Sterling`s move to United makes me really worried. Is there really anything to be worried about? thanks. {Ed002's Note - I suspect his agent has been looking to get some leverage to help with negotiations with Liverpool. At this time I would not worry too much.}

07 Dec 2012 14:35:48
Why do people want Sturridge, his first touch is crap, he has poor technique and is selfish !

Ed002- Who would you buy ? ....not Dream team, only realistic signings !

Billericay Red {Ed002's Note - If it were possible, Huntelaar.}

Which Sturridge have you watched? He has very good technique in shooting and beating players. His decision making lets him down at times(selfishness) but Liverpool could do with a pacey player like him.

I dont have faith in sturridge but i have faith in BR to make the right signings if that means sturridge than so be it!

I would def not but sturrige hes crap i would go for bony or hunttlar

As long as the player can speak the same football language as Suarez, it doesn't matter is he selfish or selfless.

07 Dec 2012 12:34:19
I think that sturridge is exactly what we need, and I think may be a better shout than huntelaar. We need a player who can operate in the front three. Liverpool of last season needed someone like huntelaar, but we need someone who can operate within this system and not inevitably force suarez wide. He is one of the best in the world when given the license to swap with the other forwards and drop deep in the middle. An out and out off the line forward, Torres, bent etc will mean the team will have to make sacrifices tactically that won't improve our fortunes. Please bare in mind the system the player enters rather than how good a striker you think he is. Hunterlaar may be a better player, but sturridge could add goals without a change in system.

Ok Brendan !

Couldn't agree more

Not better than huntelaar. BIG BIG difference

Is this the same person that thought Mata wasn't as good as downing :) Ha

whats this tripe that are writing now that Fergie has made an enquirey for sterling? i would sell whisky nose a cold!

is this true eds?

bigW {Ed002's Note - I rather suspect his agent has been doing the rounds. Perhaps only to get leverage with Liverpool.}

Not a fan of leverage but in this context i like it

After Ferguson refused to sell Heinze to us, can't imagine us ever selling a player to Utd again.

Kez

Ed have you done some editing with the original post lol it makes me look like i cant write a sentence? or perhaps i was so mad writing it that ive forgot to add keywords to it?

it was meant to say tripe that caught offside are writing and that i wouldn't sell a cold to whiskey nose! either way ppl get the point lol

bigW

Tapping up surely and trying to unsettle player {Ed002's Note - You perhaps need to read up what "tapping up" means.}

Ed's
You clearly have a good instinct for the mood of the fans. My question is if we dont sign a big striker, how forgiving will the fans be this time around? When I watch us play, it is a very obvious void that needs filling regardless of how well our passing and possession game is improving. We need somebody who knows where the goal is, strong enough hold up the ball and link with Suarez.
Now I see the rumours and names being bounced around and I am a little concerned that we are aiming for Sturridge/Walcott etc and the fans are looking for a saviour possibly matching Suarez or at the very least scoring the same tally of goals.
Should we be more realistic or can we actually get hold of a big, experienced european striker and be a more appealing prospect than man city, chelsea etc....? {Ed002's Note - "Big" is subjective of course, but clearly many of the fns do not seem keen on Sturridge. I know there has been interest in Huntelaar but I am still of the opinion that it will be tough to complete a deal.}

Thing is Sturidge has not been able to get in to the team ahead of Torres, what does that say about the man.

Lets not forget its difficult to attract top players in a January transfer window. We may have to do with whoever we can get.

Lee73

We must have 3-4 quality strikers. 2 or 3 that can play in different positions

Sturridge and Huntelaar are both not good enough. Sturridge is one of the greediest players I have ever seen and often gets caught in possession - Huntelaar has an eye for goal but is criminally slow and, at 29, does not have his best years ahead of him for the prices being bandied around. To be honest if there isn't any real quality for an acceptable price knocking about in January I wouldn't bother - we panic bought a few seasons ago and look where that got us,

Tom Ince
Xabi Alonso
Theo Walcott
And Unfortunatley Daniel Sturridge all in at Liverpool in January

100% Happening

Melbourne Red
YNWA
JFT96

I wish - this would be a dream transfer window - however I doubt we will get even one of those, given our recent track record in the transfer market.

Leeds Red

Really don't see Alonso ever coming back unless its as a coach or something similar, we payed £15m for Allen, and now Lucas is back the 3 will be Lucas, Allen and Gerrard, so where does Alonso fit in.. Its just wishful thinking on behalf of us Liverpool Fans.

But the other 3 are very possible, Ince is looking likely if we want him same goes for Sturridge, Walcott mite be a difficult one as his GF has enrolled at a London Uni so i don't see it happening unless he is forced out.

BigD

I have heard the same except for Tom Ince

Don't go to a betting shop - I predict 0 out of 4 there.

Ince would not come back - and why would we want him - Suso, Henderson, Allen - and a few in the under 21's far better than him.

Alonso - why? he doesn't need us, we don't need him and he would cost far too much.

Walcott - we won't meet his wage demands.

Sturridge - far too much speculation, and no manager will bow to a players demands on where he wants to play.

John B

Those four players would improve not only the first team, but also the depth of our squad. I disagree about the comment above however, I can see 2/4 happening.

And no striker hmmm interesting

07 Dec 2012 09:25:40
With the emergence of new youngsters in the squad, BR wants to sign more. He is currently looking at: Tony Watt (Celtic), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Ben Davies (Swansea), Kenny Tete (Ajax), Aidan White (Leeds), Alen Halilovic (Dinamo Zagreb), Sergi Roberto (Barcelona), and Jese Rodriguez (Real Madrid)

The 1 we need most id say would be Luke Shaw of (Southampton) as we could do with a LB and competition is always healthy to have and he is really good and will probably be a similar mode to Bale, we should snap him up now before he ends up at Utd.

BigD

Nice list! Ed002, any actual interest or at least a slip possibility of getting some of these players?

Drigan {Ed002's Note - There has apparently been interest shown by Liverpool in Tony Watt of Celtic. Some of the others (Shaw, Halilovic and Roberto) have been subject to interest from other clubs, but not Liverpool as far as I know.}

I personal know Tony Watt and he will not move to Liverpool. 1 because he loves the club supported them all his life. and 2 he has signed a new deal at Celtic. {Ed002's Note - Right, but regardless of that Liverpool showed interest.}

How do you snap up a player (Shaw) who is not for sale?? Utd., City, Chelsea have already been told that and BR will get the same answer.

07 Dec 2012 06:05:26
Come on eds. HULK can be affordable. He can be the best player upfront in the epl. Since he is not happy at zenit, v can easily get him. Many of our fellow Reds think he can be better than sturridge, walcott, hooper r any other transfer targets. If not possible during january atleast a summer buy can be possible. {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers please.}

He had a horrible season in a russian league...before falling out with manager..
what on earth he is gonna crack in EPL...if you are overwhelmed by his physique..then kyriakos..was even stronger than him...

As the Eds have said many times, it ain't gonna happen

It'll be good to have him but never gonna happen

FowlerGod.

Zenit spent like £40m on him in the summer. How on earth do you think we could afford him?
