I've seen bernd Leno being linked with a move abroad and lfc are apparently a possible destination. What are the eds thoughts, is he one of a few possible replacement for mingolet?

Believable1 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - Leno is of no interest to Liverpool at this time but there has been an enquiry from both Real Madrid and Barcelona - interest of Arsenal has gone for now.}

08 Feb 2016 06:07:22
Looks like Real have given up on signing De Gea and Barcelona want Ter Stegen gone. Hey Ed002, any change in Ter Stegen's situation? because it looks like Barcelona are trying to replace him in the summer. And is it due to his lack of quality or him being just plain unhappy about lack of game time?

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - (a) No, they will be making an offer for DDG in the summer. (b) Barcelona don't see ter Stegen as first choice hence the willingness to sell.}

08 Feb 2016 18:09:10
how much would he cost us approx. we need anybody else in gk, I would apply.

Agree0 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - The asking price is €30M and they may take €25M. He has hardly played for a while - cup games only.}

08 Feb 2016 20:46:43
What is about Ter Stegen that means they don't see him as first team material?

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Not as good as Bravo.}

08 Feb 2016 23:52:12
Do you think they'd do a loan to buy deal for the lad ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - No.}

09 Feb 2016 02:50:10
Does that mean that they don't see him as reaching the potential of Bravo or more that they don't wish to wait. Also does he have the work ethic to want to get better (I was reading something today that suggested that Barcelona weren't too happy with his attitude)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They are not happy with his bleating that he is not first choice and they have waited two years. As I explained previously, they would have sold him in January but he wanted to stay as Barcelona are in a decent position to possibly win the CL where he is playing. Additionally there might be changes coming in the summer that could change his position, but for now the situation remains unchanged.}

Hi Ed002,
another dissapointing performance and result. It seems there will be no CL football on Anfiled next season. I`m pleased Mr. Klopp did not make any hectic transfers in the January window. I believe he just takes his time to get to know the squad better, to make reasonable decisions in the summer. But if there`s no CL next season we could lose another (after Suarez and Sterling) top player in the summer (Coutinho) . I know it`s difficult to get results with so many injured players, but still we should win games like today`s. Today Mignolet was to blame again. I would like to see Ward between the posts next time. Nevertheless, I hope Klopp is thinking about bringing in a new goalie for next season. As for the rest of the squad, we need new solid CBs for sure - Toure, Sakho must go. I`m generally very dissapointed with Clyne`s performance too. I had high expectations when he came in. The midfield looks promising, but we really need Ibe, Can, Lallana to step up their game. As for strikers, it seems to me Klopp won`t keep Benteke nor Balotelli, we don`t know if Sturridge will stay for next season. I would anticipate some moves from Bundesliga in the summer. I`d love to see Hummels and Rues come. Any chance Ed? I would really like to read your opinion on the current squad, results and tips for the summer : who will leave and who will come. If you find time. Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - (a) I suspect previous interest in Coutinho has gone. (b) Toure will certainly leave. (c) I expect a goalkeeper might be hunted down for the summer - but that could spell then end for Ward of course. (d)
I would certainly not be holding my breath over Hummels or Reus. (e) The club needs to do something about the strikers in the summer but need to decide who needs to go first. Balotelli - it makes sense for Inter to buy him and then sell him on for a profit iof they don't want to keep him. It is a little early to say what will actually happen Tom but we should be able to soon weed through those where there was previous interest that has gone and catch up on those the club are now scouting - ask me for an update at the end of the month.}

Inter buying balotelli or AC?

Agree0 Disagree13

07 Feb 2016 12:52:11
Ironically "big" players leaving currently only means worrying about Firmino. I would like us to keep couts, hendo and lucas who are also on high wages but the rest of the high earners will be up for sale anyway.

07 Feb 2016 14:24:58
ed002 who would they sell Balotelli to. I can see him at liverpool till his contract runs out how long does he have left hope it was only a 3 year contract when we signed him.

Agree0 Disagree11

{Ed002's Note - The can buy him very cheaply from Liverpool and sell him to anyone who is interested at a profit. His contract runs to 2018.}

07 Feb 2016 14:56:05
Hendo lucas can go if big bid comes in esp from china. Lucas will probably suit chinese league fine with big Brazilian contingent.

Hello ed002,

You mentioned balotelli can be bought very cheaply off Liverpool, and if it doesn't workout then, still, sold for a profit later. Do you believe that Liverpool just don't know how to sell the unwanted players? It always seems like we buyout their contracts, let them go for free and incur incredible losses. Is this the financial mismanagement that you keep mentioning or is that far more encompassing subject (I'd understand if you think it's not worth the pain on these pages) . And how do clubs like Chelsea manage to get a decent value out of players who they deem not ready for their first team (no dig, I'm a huge fan of how it seems they are the new masters in negotiation) .

Agree0 Disagree10

{Ed002's Note - No, Balotelli needed to move on and the loan to buy was the only viable option. Inter could buy and then resell immediately in the summer to potentially profit. Chelsea has a strategy for each player and ensure that when they are on loan they get good experience. This has worked well.}

08 Feb 2016 10:04:21
Hey Ed002, it's AC Milan Balotelli's at rather than Inter. Anyway it's been mentioned before €10m is what was agreed. In my opinion, that is actually a good selling price for us. You know a lot more about these things and you seem to think that Milan can get a quick profit from reselling him - if you think that then that's a good thing as it surely means he'll move on in the summer. We need strikers who are willing to work hard and he certainly doesn't suit that.

Agree0 Disagree9

{Ed002's Note - Sorry about that. Yes €10M is the to buy clause. It will be up to Balotelli either way. If Milan want to buy and keep him will be one option he has to consider. If Milan want to buy and resell he will need to know of any interested sides and decide if that suits him, else he can return to Liverpool and make the most of next season.}

08 Feb 2016 12:56:28
How come AC Milan can sell him for more? Why don't we cut out the middle man and just sell him for more ourselves?

Agree1 Disagree7

08 Feb 2016 22:28:48
Because we have a pre agreed deal with AC Milan, as Ed002 clearly explains above.

Heard a rumour that we are going in for Daniel Didavi at the end of the season
Have any of the eds heard this as well?

Believable0 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - It makes no sense to me given that here is nothing to stop Liverpool approaching the player now and seeking a pre-contract agreement rather than waiting to the end of the season. Didavi has been of interest to Bayer Leverkusen, Spurs and Stuttgart but Spurs walked away based on the many injury problems he has suffered throughout his career.}

Hi edd 002
You answer a question on here about begovic not being interested in a move to Liverpool some time ago.
Was this because he thought man united were going to come in for him, about 2 or 3 seasons ago.
Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know what his reasons were at the time but he had at one time said he wanted to join Liverpool (at a time when Liverpool were not interested in him) and then later when the club did show an interest he was not interested.}

07 Feb 2016 12:02:21
Begovic would be a good option for LFC. If the price is 10 million GBP or less, i would be shocked if the club did not make an approach to Chelsea this summer.

Agree4 Disagree16

07 Feb 2016 14:24:13
I struggle to work out why Begovic went to Chelsea when it was obvious he was going to be second choice. I know he's had games but that's because of the Courtois injury rather than anything else. A 'lazy' move by the player in my opinion.

Agree16 Disagree4

07 Feb 2016 16:21:33
errrr could it have something to do with money?

Agree11 Disagree3

07 Feb 2016 17:28:03
If that really was the only reason then I'd rather he stayed sat on the bench at Chelsea. Perhaps I'm an old romantic but where's his ambition?

Agree6 Disagree10

{Ed002's Note - It isn't and he will likely be moving on in the summer. Chelsea made offers for replacements in January.}

07 Feb 2016 17:35:59
I'd rather we didn't buy him as he's not really that good a keeper and frankly there are better available out there, considering we are stuck with Mignolet until the summer we have plenty of time to find a good keeper and a bench warmer is the last place I would be looking.

Agree6 Disagree14

07 Feb 2016 17:40:03
Good to hear that then Ed002 - was he made some promises about playing time then? It always felt like an odd move to me.

Agree0 Disagree11

{Ed002's Note - No, he wasn't made any promises.}

Alright Lads, here's a rumour I'm going to throw into the cage and let the animals tear it up. Keep in mind this is not my rumour nor do have an opinion on it, just relaying what I've read.

Newcastle planning capture of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge after hearing he is growing increasingly unhappy over the remarks towards his fitness and pain threshold.

Apparently according to this source, Jurgen Klopp is willing to let him go £30 million due to his injury problems.

This is coming from a newspaper in England, and also a sports reporting website based on Australia.

Have fun with that one lads.

Paper talk, but £30m for a player that never plays, take it.

Agree18 Disagree6

07 Feb 2016 11:26:31
No club in any of the top leagues in Europe will pay a fee of any size for Sturridge, mostly for reasons of insurance.

China or USA, well that's another matter.
