Eds, other than Rojo and the previous interest in Bertrand, do you know of anyone we are actively looking at for left back? Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Not at this time.}

Hi Eds, just a brief one. Heard a lot about the fullback Alberto Moreno. I remember us being linked with him in January for a summer move but it all went quiet. What happened? Have Real or Barca made a move for him?

Cheers Eds

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - The full release clause for Spanish clubs is being asked by Sevilla for Moreno and that has so far put off interest from a number of clubs including Real Madrid and Spurs. Manchester United and Manchester City have had him looked at. Atletico Madrid remain interested but not at the price being asked. Chelsea have been trying to negotiate a deal for him (as first choice over Shaw, Bernat, Filipe, Sandro, Nagatomo and Kurzawa) but there is no agreement at this time.}

Eds is Antoine Griezmann a realistic target for us- I would love him at the Pool. He is creative, quick and has an eye for goal. He is also not partial to working back for the team.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Marseille, Rennes, Fiorentina and Lyon have shown some interest in Griezmann in the past year and repordedly Barcelona tool a look at one time. Whilst the kid has said on several occasions that he has no plans to leave Spain anytime soon, the financial problems being faced by Real Sociedad may still see him leave the club in the summer. He has had a good season which have led to enquiries being made by Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea; with Manchester United and PSG having the player watched on more than one occasion.}

Hi eds,
Just wondering are any teams interested in Glen Johnson?
Also are we interested in Onazi?
Thanks

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in GJ. Ogenyi Onazi has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Hertha Berlin and Ajax in the past 9 months and has been subject to being scouted by a number of clubs including Spurs. If there is recent interest from Liverpool then I cannot confirm it. This could be a recycled story from a few montsh ago.}

Hi Eds

Do u think its likely we could sign both Tello and Konoplyanka or more likely to be just one? And who do you think would be the better player in our system?

Believable21 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - most likely to be one and either would work, in my opinion, just as well, it would just depend on which the team could adjust to better. I believe Konoplyanka speaks much better English, which would be a plus if correct.}

Thanks Eds

From what I've seen Konop looks like he works harder and tracks back for the team more than Tello but he would probably be twice as costly.

Is Lallana being looked at for the same position as those 2 or could we well see both Tello and Lallana in the summer.

Hey Ed001,

I saw you mention on the rumours page that if we go for another keeper it would be because Rodgers doesn't think Mingolet has done enough, and not to replace Brad Jones. As you said, his first choice was Begovic.

Are we not in a strong position to negotiate a deal for Begovic? We have a player in Assaidi who Stoke City are very keen to keep. Surely some sort of deal could be done? Also, if Hughes is not too sure on whether Jack Butland is ready yet, we could in theory loan or even sell them Mingolet as he would no longer be starting in this scenario.

A very "what if" sort of question. I was just wondering if you could see a move for Begovic even being plausible. For me, he is the best keeper in the league and probably in the top 3 in the world along with Neuer and Courtois.

{Ed002's Note - Begovic will likely move in the summer with Real Madrid and Borussia Monchengladbach showing some interest. Else a new contract will be agreed with Stoke.}

Just been told Jamie Carragher might quit Sky and could be back at Liverpool next season. Obviously not as a player.

Believable19 Unbelievable77

He could still work at sky and be a coach at Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish Carragher would have been playing the last 20 minutes on Monday! He sure creamed Sakho and Skrtel in the press, but that's to be expected after an epic collapse like that. Nonetheless, I think he'd be an amazing coach at Liverpool, particularly for young defenders like Flanagan, Wisdom, etc who are already familiar with him and could use his wealth of exp.

Hi, Eds. I know a you would be dealing with a million questions much like this one, but I'm just just another frantic fan! Do you see suarez leaving?

Ratan.

Believable2 Unbelievable19

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say, in previous years I have always said that I expect him to stay because nobody would be willing to meet the valuation the club have set on him. This summer, well this summer his value might even have gone beyond wild valuations by the club and we might end up in a position where we receive an offer too ridiculous to reject. I very much doubt it though, it would depend a lot on other transfers boosting interested clubs' coffers to allow them to make a blockbuster offer.}

Who would you want to see as his replacement ed?
I'd personally go for 1-Sanchez and Lacazette
OR
2-Marco Reus

Agree0 Disagree0

There's no such thing as a replacement for Suarez, unless Messi or Ronaldo feel like moving to Merseyside. The only players that could do an admirable job filling his shoes are playing for top, top clubs, and would cost similar figures. IMO, our only hope would be Sturridge scoring even more goals and improving the squad in other areas. Of course we'd get another great striker, but Suarez is the best player in the Premiership, and irreplaceable for us at this moment in time.

Just a quick question,
Does Brad Jones still have a future at Liverpool? As it looks, Reina is set for a permanent transfer to Napoli, do we want to bring in another keeper (after our priorities are sorted) and get someone to challenge Mignolet for the number 1 position?
Cheers eds.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - yes he does, the only reason we will bring in another keeper is if Rodgers decides Mignolet is not as good as he should be. Which wouldn't be a surprise as he was not Rodgers preferred option.}

Can I ask who was?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Asimir Begovic.}

Hiya 01.

Am I correct in thinking that Begovic was the preferred choice?

Could he justify buying another number 1 just 1 season later?

I mean Migs is a great shot stopper but his decision making when dealing with crosses and his 'rolling ball' kicking is below par.

Do you know if the goalkeeping coaches are working on these 2 areas ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, yes if it made the difference to us winning the title and yes they are.}

Ed001, What have your thoughts been on Mignolet this year. To be honest I don't really know what to make of him.

He is an excellent shot stopper (and that is his primary purpose after all) but his aerial ability is questionable and I do not rate him one bit with his feet.

With the way we play the ball around the back four I would think we need a keeper who's pretty good with their feet. His distribution is also poor.

I would be happy to see him stay as I don't think any of his weaknesses could not be worked on but what do you think?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not impressed, and I am told that I am not the only one who is not convinced he is the answer as I am told we are showing interest in Sergio Alvarez of Celta Vigo as a replacement. For me, his lack of communication and struggles with high balls are as much of an issue as his distribution. He is still young, and could still fix his weaknesses, but for me I don't see any signs of improvement in his play whatsoever. If anything his distribution has got worse.}

Do you think we could be in for Martin Montoya and Fabio Coentrao for our full-back roles?
