Read the same thing in the german media. Ex Everton and Ex United. No way we would ever go for him with that history. (Also i think there has only been one transfer between Liverpool and United ever and that was back in 1964 or something like that)

Fellani and Liverpool should never ever be mentioned in the same sentence ever, period. Ever.

There's a pattern there somewhere. Every time there's a player on the end of his contract, and is available on a free, we somehow are immediately linked. Lazy journalism at its best, as if that's the criteria the team uses for recruits. Hilarious.

Surely Reading can't afford his wages? Although they need some help staying in the Championship.

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced Fellaini could raise his game to reach Championship level.}

Hi Eds,

What does danny ings future look like? Seems like he will be given the chance to be firminos backup but if we are offered 15-20m surely we have to take it.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - right now he wants to stay so it is unclear.}

08 Apr 2018 20:02:20
Happy for him to stay, think with a few more chances he has ability. If firmino is out Ings mane and Salah is good enough, it's the wide areas I think we're short.

Agree14 Disagree0

08 Apr 2018 20:26:45
I like Danny and i feel for him but i don't think he is good enough for us. solanke desperately needs a loan next season and then review him on his return. he doesn't convince me either I've got to be honest. We shall see.

Agree18 Disagree4

{Ed025's Note - im with you ben..

08 Apr 2018 20:42:04
I do like ings but more for his personality! I think his technical ability is lacking in his touch and finishing but his movement is good. I don't see us buying a wide player Firmane if klopp gets lemar he will cover lw like coutinho did when mane was out earlier this season and ox will cover the right although he is just not a good winger. I see woodburn getting more chances this year so he's another option and i think klopp is waiting for pulisic anyway when he's more gettable, his contract expires in 2020 so maybe next year.

Agree6 Disagree2

08 Apr 2018 21:51:57
Ings is a useful player but clearly two years out has impact his game and I think we need someone who’s a genuine challenger for the front 3 - whether that’s a wide player to then alllow Mane or Salah to move central, or a striker (who perhaps can bring something different to the table a la Giroud) .

Solanke has had enough chances but has yet to convince, I think he needs a loan like Tammy Abrahams to get more time to develop.

Agree3 Disagree7

08 Apr 2018 22:54:23
I did suggest amath ndiaye as cover for the forward line but more I think about it I really believe in woodburn and he should be getting those chances not a new signing. Like eds have said klopp will only tinker with the team slightly because he has built a good spirit.

I hope Klopp reconsiders buying a rb and back up gk for next season tho rather keep Gomez/ trent there while Gomez gets games at cb in cup games like eds have mentioned and ward for back up gk. Instead get a proper cb who isn't injury prone in my pick is clement lenglet for 30m and we have to go for sessegnon if fulham do not get promoted. Jorginho, Keita and Lemar to top it off, I'd say that is realistic financially with the number of players that should be sold.

Agree0 Disagree3

09 Apr 2018 00:45:17
Xabi,

I agree about Woodburn. Id like to see him either get more game time with us or go out on loan. He needs to play.

But im not sure if I agree that Jorginho, Keita and Lemar are realistic financially (esp if we were to get Clement) . can't see us making much from sales. Plus if the figures being bandied around of Keita costing 90mill and Lemar being quoted at 90 (and Jorginho won't come cheap either since I can't see Napoli being willing to sell him), its highly unlikely we would go for all 3.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Apr 2018 07:25:05
Xabi its probably best to judge him once he has a consistent run of games under his belt. I think he can be good for us if he gets game time.

The real question is who do you prefer is the squad striker, origi or Ings? its looking like wolfsburg will not retain his services next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Apr 2018 08:16:32
I like Ings and he must have huge heart and determination on the training pitch to come back from serious injury twice and get a place back in the team, i just don't think he's good enough to help us progress.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Apr 2018 08:47:16
I believe if you want to challenge for the top you need at least 4 first team ready starters for the front three positions so you can rest someone or cover an injury at any team without materially weakening your starting lineup. City have Sane, Aguero, Jesus, Sterling.

Ings and Solanke aren’t that 4th player and even Ings is a question mark for me. We should ideally go for a top player who can play either wide or through the middle and let either Ings or Solanke go on loan IMO.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Apr 2018 08:48:25
Square Tomato seems to think he is leaving, possibly for Newcastle, good move for him if that’s the case! I think we need someone who isn’t an out and out striker but someone who can cover the front line.

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Apr 2018 11:29:21
I think we should try for Batshuayi. He's having a great year at Dortmund (on loan from Chelsea) and he offers a different style of attack to when Firmino is not firing in the goals or is injured. And we haven't done too badly with ex-Chelsea players (Sturridge and Salah) .

Agree3 Disagree3

Klopps picks ings over origi everyday. Origi just isn't doing enough to fulfil his potential, he hasn't for years. Even when he had that period he was scoring for us I thought he was so poor in his overall play. He doesn't fit in this liverpool team better to sell him.

What do you think our sales will be in the summer as well?

Agree2 Disagree3

09 Apr 2018 15:16:18
Origi, Markovic, Grujic, Flanagan, Klavan, Mignolet. Also think Can will leave. So we need a GK, a midfielder to replace Can (I see Keita as more of an attacking presence but some will consider him an upgrade on Can) and one more center defender. I hope we don't do much of an overhaul on the current squad, but I would like to see someone come in to challenge Firmino and Solanke to get some loan time with a prem team.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Apr 2018 18:36:14
Guys. I think we should give both the lads a chance. Klopp and co when give time have changed our opinions of players who we thought weren't good enough. When pre season comes Klopp and his team will then have time to coach these players and also they will all be on the same plate as the rest in regardes to fitness. I personally think Ings and Solanke needs games to correct their decision making. Once they find it I reckon they will help the squad.

{Ed025's Note - you are talking about the sheffield wednesday squad right?..

08 Apr 2018 14:25:37
Hi Eds! Are we interested in Dybala? (Liverpool Echo)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - if you mean is he likely to be the subject of any attempt to sign him this summer, no. If you mean would Klopp love to sign him, then that would be different.}

08 Apr 2018 16:57:54
Thanks Ed001!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

08 Apr 2018 11:25:26
eds 01,02 come the summer everyone is asking you who we buy. But question besides Can, Mignolet, Clyne and maybe klavan who else do you see being released be it first team, under 23 and anyone else you have knowledge of.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any first team players being released, although youth players who don't have a future perhaps. Can will be out of contract and has not yet made clear his decision but having spoken with Juventus I suspect he will opt to move there. Sturridge and Lazar Markovic will certainly be available. Flanagan no dout, probably Connor Randall. Simon Mignolet probably has a future in Italy and a replacement will be sort - but that may be Ward. Bogdan will likely leave unless Ward opts out and moves on. If Ward stays then it would be unlikely that a GK would be needed. Origi could move on but his form has dipped recently after a good start. Obviously Salah has flirted with Real Madrid but I expect he will stay. Awoniyi, Wilson and Ojo I don't know what will happen. Allan will have to stay and will get another loan when fit. I hope that helps.}

08 Apr 2018 13:38:13
With there only being can on that list that has really been part of the first team squad and mignolet likely to be replaced by ward do you expect there will only be 1 or 2 players coming into the first team squad as Keita has obviously already been signed. Maybe an attacking signing and 1 other?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No I would not say that Den. We know Liverpool have shown an interest in players in several positions, plus they are pushing to bring in a couple of foreign youngsters because of the transfer ban - but work permits will be an issue.}

08 Apr 2018 14:40:35
Thanks Ed2. Succinct and music to our ears.
Would you say one of Lovren and Matip will be moved on if we bring in another CB, and a RB to free up Gomez for CB?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn’t think so unless something changes. There has been no effort to make them available.}

08 Apr 2018 16:00:38
Good info there Ed002. Hope Ward gets a chance next season even if it is as a backup. And I doubt the club will miss any of the players u mentioned in that list as long as some quality players are bought in. Keita, Jorginho, a RB and a wide player will be an amazing summer for the club.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure Ward will consider being a backup as adequate or getting a chance.}

09 Apr 2018 14:59:42
Am I mistaken but some of the eds mentiomed that Lazar will be released/ free after the season as he didn't play some % games, it was something like that I don't quiet remember what was it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If the player does not play sufficient games by the end of the season for RSCA he can walk away from his LFC contract within 14 days of the end of the season by unilaterally terminating it - if he meets the criteria which he does. If he so chooses, and Liverpool don't sell him and FIFA agrees then Liverpool would get a small amount of compensation from the player or his next club. Liverpool has previous priced him out of a transfer (probably trying to recover very significant additional fees they were paying to LM - their own stupidity) but I expect that they would be more sensible this summer and speak with the player and Malenovic well in advance and agree a way forward.}

09 Apr 2018 23:21:07
ed2 - what is it about liverpool and how we handle transfers out of the club? anecdotally, it seems it happens a lot that we price players out of moves. and these are players we want gone from the club!
Is it liverpool being stingy, are we just no good at the negotiating table?
keen for your insights.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Clubs often use specific negotiators for transfers but for moving players on they will typically give the agent an idea of what might be acceptable and he or she can do a lot of the leg work. Liverpool need to be smarter and cannot go down the VvD route ever again - financially they were caned there.}

Hi eds and reds,

I have used the search engine and can't find anything so posting to get people thoughts.

I've just read that we are looking at potentially signing Bernard from shaktar, he's on a free in the summer and we are one of a number of teams that are in for him.

Is there any truth in this and what are your thoughts on him as a player?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Inter has an interest in him that constantly runs hot and cold and they have other priorities first. Arsenal see him as a potential alternative to Fekir although he is far more of a left winger than attacking midfield. The last Liverpool interest I recall was pre-Rodgers. Many Everton supporters see him following his manager to Everton - we will see. There is interest from other Italian sides.}
