Do you know what players we are going to bring in? I know that we're interested in Werner, Laxalt and Depay.

MMP your as eager as me and lots on here mate to find out who we are looking st signing, truth of the matter is it’s doubtful much will happen mate. Ed002 has done a Sharkopod which gives an insight. We are not interested in Werner Or Depay. Laxsalt is of interest but not likely for January.

I wouldn't want depay anywhere near our club.

I'd take Werner this window if RBL are willing to sell. Allows us to move on Origi for a decent price ASAP. Laxalt looks a likely target in the summer to provide cover for Mane and Robbo. Depay a no go coz of his attitude and Man Utd connections.

Hi Ed001

I hope your well mate. Not sure you've been asked or not but do you see us signing anyone this window? Appreciate your out of touch a little as you've got family staying with you but do you even know of us working on anything at the minute?

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - I am not expecting much, if anything to happen with ins. Depends a lot on the outs though.}

08 Jan 2019 17:11:27
Ok mate fair enough, ties in with what Klopp has been saying tbh. Thank you.

Probably pushing my luck Ed mate lol, any chance of a little update on transfers in general from your end please once your parents have returned safely and you have started your diet like the rest of us🤣. Sharkopod is great but would love summin from you mate, and you certainly know your sh#t. 😘.

One for Ed001 and Ed002 if possible. I see that Godin is potentially being touted for Man Utd.

Do we hold any interest at all? Given his age and experience, do you think he would be a good choice to rotate with VVD and Gomez? I would expect Lovren to make way.

Is the fee being asked for him high in this market (ie >€30m) or less than that? I'm not sure of his contract situation.

Thanks

Z.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any interest from us and I have no idea what price is being asked sorry. I am a bit out of touch at the moment.}

08 Jan 2019 11:56:06
Thanks Tris. I know you’ve been a fan of Godin’s. In your view, would he be a good addition for us, even at 32? Would he work well with VVD and Gomez given their relative speed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I love Godin and training with Gomez and VVD would be great for them to learn the dark arts of defending, as Godin is the master of them in the modern game. However he is not really suited to our style of play on the pitch, so, much as I love him, it would maybe not be as good a signing as it would seem on the face of it. Moving to a higher paced league at the age of 32 would be difficult enough for him, without asking him to play 15 yards further up the pitch than he usually does.}

08 Jan 2019 12:25:48
Sorry, forgot to add, whether you think we need another CB at the expense of Lovren and/ or Matip? The way I see it we now have a very good squad and just need to tweak round the edges to ensure the replacements for our first 11 a) can play in the same way to allow for better integration (not like Sturridge for example) and b) are of a slightly better quality than some we have.

To find very good players who are happy with rotation, in my view you either go for players are the start or end of their careers.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the problem is zed that you dont have "a very good squad", you have a very good first team but i think yesterday showed that the squad is just about how weak as it can get mate, just my view of course..

08 Jan 2019 12:41:04
Thanks Tris. He sounds like one to keep tabs on and nab in a few years time when he moves into coaching!

This squad we have is good when we don't have to use them. On paper it's solid but in action it's atrocious!

08 Jan 2019 13:04:22
P. s. I think our first team is outstanding, not “very good” 😉.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Jan 2019 13:03:39
I take your point Ed025, but the team yesterday wasn’t a team we would put out in the premiership. The Man City team, for example, was an adult lot of regular starters. Maybe very good is pushing it, and we definitely don’t have 2 players for each position. I honestly think our biggest issue is having 3 other attackers in the same mould as our regular 3. Sturridge and Origi play a different type of game which unbalanced the rest of the team too. I have high hopes for Brewster, especially as he had been modelling himself on Bobby, and would like to see how well Kent could do back in our team, not forgetting Woodburn too. However, I suspect we will see Origi and Studge gone by the summer and at least one new player brought in. Would still love for that to be Fekir.

{Ed025's Note - kidding yourself mate..

08 Jan 2019 17:35:38
I think the problem is that we have about 15 players who have been fully integrated into the Klopp playing style. Some of the others are good to very good players who can't/ won't play the way we need them to (Sturridge, Origi, Moreno) and we need to address this. The squad is a good size but not all of them are a good fit for how we play.

Agree4 Disagree0

08 Jan 2019 19:14:34
Based on last night's performance Moreno, Sturridge and Origi should have played their last game for LFC. I would rather the youngsters given the chance than play those 3 bafoons. I have never seen such a lack of effort from Sturridge, Moreno is just a terrible player, how he has got to such a high standard is beyond me. He makes Djimi Traore look good and Origi is just a headless chicken. The sooner those 3 are booted out the better.

Ed025 no offence but we are top of the league. I like you a lot but I'm afraid to say our squad is rubbish is a regretful comment.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - your first team is great hessle and i would suggest even better than city,s, i never called them rubbish mate i called them weak and i stand by that, you may get away with it and win the league anyway...but if you get injuries to 1 or 2 key players it could easily go tits up as i dont think you have the quality of back up that the likes of city have, just an opinion of course..

08 Jan 2019 21:48:56
Completely agree ed025.

Our squad depth is on paper full. Yes we have a lot of players. But good squad depth is when a player can come in to replace a player and the team play a similar style, the way City have it setup they’ve got exactly that.

We take off mane or Salah we bring on someone with half the pace and not the same energy levels to press in Sturridge, Lallana or Origi. City take off sane or sterling and they bring on Mahrez pretty much the same type of player.

We are along way from having the squad depth to play the same style of play our first team play let alone level and that was clear to see on Monday.

{Ed025's Note - your right jordz, and thats what i have been trying to explain mate..

09 Jan 2019 00:21:08
I think you Ed, like a lot of other rival fans look at a game last night and try to use it to have a sly dig when you know the truth really.
Fact is our squad is very good. If you take out 10 of any teams best 11 and replace them with a mixture of squad players and development players they would struggle to beat a full strength premier league team away from home.
You are never going to have to play that many squad players and kids at the same time in a game that actually means something.
You might be missing 2 or 3 first team players at any one time and we have more than enough to cover that in most positions. Of course there are players that are world class that we’d miss like VVD, Alisson or Salah so if they were all missing at the same time we’d suffer but not anywhere near as badly as you’re trying to make out.
Wishful thinking on your part I’m afraid mate.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why you think i would wish that bobby..

09 Jan 2019 14:38:55
Bit of Ed25 bashing here! He is right, look at Liverpool's last 2 season's they have shown they are capable of only challenging on 1 front, not 2 or 3. Last season - UCL was the focus. This season - the prem, and they've done very well at different times.

I'd say we have maybe 8 "top" players IMO (Salah, Mane, Bobby, Alisson, VVD, Robbo, Gini + Fabinho) 8 "good" players (Hendo, Gomez, TAA, Keita, Shaqiri, Milner, Ox, Lovren) . The rest are average, very young, or terrible (not naming any names! )

16 top/ good players (when all are fit) does not make a good squad!

The last two years have seen a great improvement, but still a long way to go. Squads are built not bought! (Unless you are City! )

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 20:05:42
I hate the argument that if you lose your best 1 or 2 players you are not as strong. that is as obvious as saying snow is white.
If any team lost VVD or Salah or Allison they would be severely weakened.
Monday was stupidity not lack of depth. it was reserves it was a load of kids away at a strong PL Team. and they lost 2.1.
Klopp put 1 or 2 other in, we win.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is more a matter of refraction. Snow is actually not unliske sugar, a pale transluscent violet.}

09 Jan 2019 20:18:07
If we were honest the only position we have any decent cover is in midfield where we play 3 players, and have Henderson, Milner, Gini, Shaq, Fabinho, Keita, Lallana and Ox (when fit) .

Our goalkeeper cover is Mignolet so I will leave it at that.
Defence cover includes Matip, Lovren and Moreno
Forward cover Sturridge, Origi
I would even say Uniteds bench is often better than ours. Let alone City’s.

Eds - heard a rumour re Keita that he's looking to move in the Summer as not happy with how things turning out. Is the time of the year for click bait eg Coutinho to Man U but wondering if you had heard anything.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - nope, the summer is a long way off.}

Well we have moved away from selling Fabs so Keita is the next one to target. He just needs to adjust to the system and I believe the 433 system currently suits him better than the 4231 system. Just needs more time to adjust to life at Liverpool and a run of being injury free and he will be fine.

His body language hasn’t been great his last few games that he’s featured. He’s normally a pretty smiley character like Mane. Hopefully it’s just frustration and he hits top gear soon.

It does look like a confidence issue. Whenever I’ve seen him he starts off brilliantly. First 10 minutes last night he looked like he would take control of that midfield but then he lost the ball in midfield and just disappeared from the game completely.
I’m sure he’ll come good though he just needs time.
