da guy below..... u copied paul da gooches team so so bad... couldn't mixit up a bit no?ahahhaha

eds do u think that downing is worth more dan 15 mills
plz answer {Ed002's Note - It's not so much what we think he is worth, but what teh club will pay for him.}

Hi eds. My source has just told me that liverpool will offer Coady a new contract and that Downing, Doni, Cissohko, and Mata deals will all be done within 10 Days
Gibbzee :)

Hey Ed's and fellow posters haven't been on here in a while and would just like to say Kenny knows what he is doing. We may not be linked with glamorous names like Aguero, Sanchez, Hazard etc. but the stats are there for us all to see that we are actually bringing in great players So just calm down, maybe 1 signing that everyone will be happy with but don't expect one
Thanks,
Adam O'K ;) YNWA.

P.S. Just read I have a little admirer on this site :) BTW Ed I am not in pre-season training with the club Hopefully one-day but not for now

Hi Eds and fellow Reds, just a question before I go upstairs to beds, do you think that with the bids for Mr Downing somewhat floundering.
Citeh could be watching and send us an offer, forget about Mr Downing. Bring your money down the Lancs and you can have a left winger with our thanks.
kidmillions {Ed033's Note - Very unlikely. They are only desperate to flog the high earners that don't feature ( Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Bellamy etc)}

09 Jul 2011 22:56:59
totally convinced that we will sign mata & a winger most likely downing/johnson or as it seems bastos i feel kenny sees mata as a forward more than a wide man we could be a pleasure to watch if these transfers come off what do ya reckon ed

cheers kopman

Keep reading posters saying Glen Johnson is a liability at the back and then suggesting we buy Enrique who is a Real Liabity at the back.
Liverpools biggest liability at the back is the fact that Carra and Skyrtle can't head a ball Fact (Kyriakos would lose the pair of them for heading ability)
Carra was fine playing alongside a great player and header of the ball in Sami Hyypia.
A good centre back should get a few goals a season coming up for corners and free kicks, invaluable to have this in your locker especially when teams park the bus at Anfield.
But now we need and definiteley need a Class Centre back who can head a ball and a left winger of course, that would do it me just 2 more signings, think we'd be on our way.
kidmillions {Ed033's Note - I don't totally agree with you. However we do need a good young centre back, Scott Dann Maybe?}

09 Jul 2011 22:44:02
what are the chances of us signing Mich Richards for the centre back position and will Bastos be signed as a left back or will it be a replacement to the idea of the downing deal if it fails to get going as villa are playing hard ball due to the fee. Also would love us to sign Johnson for the right as Man city look to sign another arsenal player for £24 million {Ed009's Note - Richards: very low indeed. We bid 20 million in January and it was flat out rejected. I can't see us going in again. I believe we are still looking at Downing, but if Johnson became available we would look to sign him instead if Villa continue to be obstinant regarding the fee.}

09 Jul 2011 22:22:20
Heard that DC planning double swoop for Lyon players..Michel Bastos and Aly Cissokho to solve LFC left side problems..

ED, is it possible for us to get both of them? bastos 12m & Cissokho 10m...

Boring'LFC {Ed009's Note - of course it is possible. Both players are likely to leave Lyon and it would make no difference to their club where they go. So a chance, but they are not the most likely players for their positions still.}

09 Jul 2011 21:05:27
ed is liverpool looking at french striker nolan roux? {Ed009's Note - we were linked with the player a few weeks back but I don't know of any sustained interest. That could simply be because a striker has been put on the back burner until other positions are secured.}

09 Jul 2011 22:02:18
hi ed adam johnson rumours building up, wats the possibilty of him coming to lfc out of 10? {Ed009's Note - right now I'd give him a three out of ten. If City buy a replacement, I think that could rise to a five. I'm feeling pretty adventurous right now though.}

09 Jul 2011 21:12:58
Liverpool are going to sign Aaron Lennon from Tottenham for £22m + Joe Cole

09 Jul 2011 21:04:57
Hi eds. What has happened to the interest for Matt Jarvis.
Cheers {Ed009's Note - Wolves are asking a lot for the player, and interest seems to have died down as a result. I still believe he would be a good signing.}

09 Jul 2011 20:59:09
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is desperate to bring in a new left-sided defender after being forced to play Glen Johnson out of position at times last season.

After seeing his top target Gael Clichy join Manchester City, he is now looking at a number of alternatives.

Reports in France suggest one of them is Lyon's Cissokho and that a bid is imminent.

Lyon coach Remi Garde told L'Equipe that Liverpool have not yet made an offer for the 23-year-old, but he was prepared to consider any approaches.

'Aly is an important player for us, but if an offer matches our expectation, he is likely to go, ' said Garde.

The French club are known to be short of cash and it is thought they are prepared to accept a bid of just £8 million, despite paying £13 million to sign Cissokho from Porto in 2009.

Liverpool are also believed to be interested in Newcastle United left back Jose Enrique, but face competition from Arsenal for the Spaniard's signature.

Hi Eds not posted for a while, bt have some good news to share We are going to buy A Johnson, S Dann, J Enrique and last but not least Mata
Als heard Stevie G to play more on the right

Eds please reply back

Redman 10 {Ed009's Note - what do you want me to reply with? I think all are viable signings to one degree or another, and we could well end up with three of those, but I have no reason to believe they are definitely signing. If you are right then you will get much credit.}

09 Jul 2011 19:58:09
Ed with this 9m bid for bastos going in do you think we may also be bidding for our other back-up options to downing eg mata johnson turan in order to see how much they want for the player? also i think bastos shows how a player can come out of the blue {Ed002's Note - I don't see there being bids for Mata, Johnson or Turan at this time, if at all.}

09 Jul 2011 19:55:52
Bastos WILL NOT be joining Liverpool. Its a punt up the arse for Downing who Commolli really wants, altho Bastos wudnt b a bad shot at the 10m mark, IMO better than 20M for Downing

09 Jul 2011 19:46:57
Bojan and now Lamela have joined Roma... just thought you should know :- (

09 Jul 2011 19:46:04
go on the ed, how confident out of 10 do you believe michael bastos will be playing for liverpool come august 13th {Ed002's Note - I am not in a position to say right now with any confidence. I will say 5/10 as I still see Downing more likely, and perhaps Enrique as well.}

09 Jul 2011 19:25:20
Have heard that Meireles is very close to his departure. Don't know, where too. But it seems as he'd not be LFC player for next season.

09 Jul 2011 19:29:35
LFC will make bid for Matt Jarvis soon, he is a cheap option and can deliver the crosses Bigy Andy need, certainly the type of winger LFC is searching for. Younger & Cheaper than Downing. Michael Bastos is expected to join.- Mark my words, you heard it first on here

09 Jul 2011 19:24:34
Ed people talk about downing needing to hand in a transfer request to move. I don't think it would make much difference, just like charlie adam in january, if villa really want 20m plus or refuse to sell him then a transfer request doesn't make much difference. What do you think ed? {Ed009's Note - it makes it clear that the player doesn't want to play for them next season for one thing. On top of that it means Downing is willing to forego the 5% of transfer fee clause in his contract, getting Villa more money. But if they are really going to be obstinant and ask for something ridiculous along the lines of 25 million, we could well just walk away - it is clear we are already considering alternatives.}

09 Jul 2011 19:22:12
My friend the Villa fan says Downing has had his transfer request granted so it is now looking more likely we will get him. Hope we have not paid over the top to much.Not sure about him myself but willing to be convinced.

09 Jul 2011 19:14:18
Players commin in for sure: Downing, Enrique and Dann, you can bet your house on them {Ed009's Note - I take it you have then?}

09 Jul 2011 19:02:49
Read that we have a £22 million offer on the table for mata and he favours us over arsenal and city?
What two wingers do you except the most out of; mata, johnson, downing and bastos?
Thanks eds doing a good job

09 Jul 2011 18:59:47
looks like zapata is off to villereal-ssn . shame- hes a good player. it would appear that lfc will make a move for highly rated scott dann. what do u think ed, what CB will come to lfc? {Ed002's Note - Zapata id long gone from the equation but Dann seems a possibility.}

09 Jul 2011 18:56:57
Every who thinks we are playing friendlys with Valencia and Galatasary cos we are signing Mata and Turan, could it possibly be that these games are taking place for the exact opposite reason. Maybe they are signing players from us. Galatasary could be signing Insua and Valencia could be signing Jovanovic or Pacheco or even Ayala.

09 Jul 2011 18:56:19
Hi eds, i was just wandering if you think downing would have to put in a transfer request to leave because randy learners valuation seems crazy we have already been paying over the odds apart from Adam
Thanks
Raj {Ed002's Note - I think he may need to put in a transfer request.}

09 Jul 2011 18:42:48
Ed if liverpool don't get downing do you expect them to pursue mata as we know they are very interested in the player? {Ed009's Note - it is just conjecture as to what they WOULD do, but either Mata or Johnson (if he becomes available) are the most likely.}

09 Jul 2011 18:28:06
is bastos coming to the end of his contract ed? because 9m euros even the reported 12m they are looking for is a snip. this guy is class, either on the wing, or as an attacking fullback in a 4 3 3. as shown with clichy, we should move quickley on this one before other teams become interested. i know he has been strongly linked with juve.
also ed, yesterday when i said we were linked to bastos, ed009 dismissed we were interested in the player, has this bid came in today?

matt 27 {Ed002's Note - The bid was made yesterday but Ed009 would not necessarily have known about it. I agree the bid is low. Lyon could do with some money so may be open to a "decent" offer. I don't know if Liverpool will follow this up or not.}

09 Jul 2011 18:23:31
Eds good to hear the info on basto's.I know you said a bid was made and rejected , but from reading your replys to peoples questions you seem a bit more confident of a move than usual.Do you know more than you are letting on ?(RD.RED) {Ed002's Note - Not really and oddly enough I rather think Bastos could still end up in Turin. I don't see Liverpool giving up on Downing just yet, so perhaps much hangs on what happens with Enrique.}

09 Jul 2011 18:21:19
Bastos? No, it won't happen.
Yes we did place a bid for the player but it's nothing more than us keeping our options open hence the low bid.
We are not serious and we won't be making a second bid.

Main target is Downing, who my people expect to sign by next week Tuesday.
Cissokho also won't be coming. Enrique remains the target.
Baines also is zero chance.

I'm with ed002 when he rules out Mata. He is right. He's not a serious target, if a target at all.

Guthro

09 Jul 2011 18:16:07
ed what are the chances of us getting bastos and johnson should he be made available {Ed009's Note - Bastos is about evens at the minute. If Johnson became available those two would be our most likely wingers. At the moment Downing is more likely still.}

09 Jul 2011 17:59:45
Hi Ed... Speculation in the morning rags say Di Maria could be available for a transfer, if this was the case Do you think we would be interested or would it be too expensive for us? {Ed009's Note - Mourinho loves the player and he will not leave Madrid this summer.}

09 Jul 2011 17:50:02
ED..just want to ask you :
1)Downing still dont hand in transfer request? read that avfc want 25m..ridiculous.
2)bid for Bastos rejected? how much we need to bid to get accepted? lfc must get him..left wing n pacey plus can be backup leftback..
3)Heard KD eyeing 3 more signings...i think winger.leftback.centerback.?
4)Scott Dann might be LFC 1st choice for CB. But with a lot of clubs interested in him, you think lfc can get him under 10m? what about lovren? hes young lfc may get him 4-6m.

boring'LFC {Ed009's Note - Aston Villa are asking for a lot of money for Downing. This is why, provided City buy another winger as a replacement, we are looking at Johnson instead - a better player, probably for less money. A bid of 9 million euros was rejected and Kenny will go in again; a bid of 12 million should be roughly enough. I would agree that those three positions are the most likely. Dann would cost around 10 million, perhaps a little more, and is the best centre back option in my opinion; I love the player.}

09 Jul 2011 17:06:57
aston villa want 25 mill for downing now so lfc will turn attention to adam johnson {Ed009's Note - if the player becomes available, expect us to attempt to sign him instead, yes.}

09 Jul 2011 17:06:29
Ed's i believe you about bastos but how come no one like sky sports has yet reported it. Their not that slow are they lool? {Ed009's Note - Sly Sports is often just pure speculation. We bid nine million euros for the player, which was rejected. I expect us to go in again with a bid of around 12 million, which is likely to be accepted. I will be very happy if we sign the player, provided it is for the wing.}

09 Jul 2011 17:06:21
Hey Eds, any news about a striker we might bring?Who do you think is the most realistic?
Also i read that Pedro Leon is not going on tour with Real.You think we might try another bid for him? {Ed009's Note - I think a striker is relatively low on the list of priorities at this time, and we may well not see one at all. Interestingly, Hoarau has become a possibility again.}

09 Jul 2011 17:13:10
Hi Ed, just a question about Aaron Lennon, I know we've been linked with him afew times but I've noticed afew Liverpool fans suggesting that there was no chance of him coming because he insulted the club in the past. I can't remember this, just wondering. What was actually said by the player? Also, do you know if Bastos would be interesting in joining Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what Lennon may or may not have said - it is just idle gossip in any case. I also don't know if Bastos would himself want to move to Liverpool. He is in Austria at present after spending his vacation back in Brazil. Like Cissokho and everybody else he has been strongly linked with Juventus. Barcelona also made an enquiry.}

09 Jul 2011 16:59:34
Ed do you think we will move for a centre back as we tried really hard for jones, since then there hasn't been much talk of a cb it's obvious it's part of the plan otherwise we wouldn't have bid so high for jones?do you reckon we have a back up plan? Also I hope your wrong about us not going for a right winger because I think kk and dc are trying to build a squad in dept this season so not having an out and out rw would leave us short of options I think we might be very surprised with the amount of players we signwhat do you think? Dubred {Ed002's Note - Perhaps Scott Dann.}

09 Jul 2011 16:26:14
Hi Eds,
this is not a rumour but rather a question. I am a bit surprised to hear rumours that we are set to offload Meireles. He has been excellent since joining and I for one I don't see the need to reshuffle one of areas we are most strong ->midfield. There are other priorities, mostly LB, LW and CB positions. Why are we waisting our time with this?
This brings to mind one of Rafa's biggest mistakes -> trying to re-shuffle the midfield (Alonso->Barry) when we had no wings/strikers.
Bottom line: Can you confirm/explain the Meireles rumours?

(please post in rumours) {Ed002's Note - Meirelesa is by all accounts unhappy with his lot at Liverpool and will be moving on. There is interest from Italy and Portugal.}

09 Jul 2011 16:24:09
Ed who do you think we will bring in for the right wing ? thanks mate. {Ed002's Note - I suspect Henderson will play there or Johnson as a WB.}

09 Jul 2011 16:13:50
Liverpool will offer 10m + ngog to lyon for bastos. Should be enough considering bastos' age

09 Jul 2011 16:06:40
Ed, if we bid £25million for Bastos and cissokho together do you think Lyon would accept as I think this would be a good price?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Perhaps but I am not so sure Cissokho will be moving to Anfield.}

09 Jul 2011 15:59:02
Good source last night assured me Enrique would be signed by the end of next week - hope he up his game playing for us, I saw him play a few poor games at Newcastle last season

09 Jul 2011 15:52:23
Afternoon Eds.

I am having a hard time believing the Bastos rumours.

He has two yrs left on his contract and I can't see Lyon selling him for half of what they paid for him.

Is he not a regular in the side or something?

Cheers

Akh666 {Ed033's Note - They paid just short of 15 million pounds for him then and are now looking for roughly 12. He is also coming up to the age of 28 so is no longer deemed in his prime by Lyon. I guess they are going to try to sell him for a decent amount whilst they can}

09 Jul 2011 15:45:22
Ed could you rate the chance of us signing the following, higuin, lavezzi, cavani, sturridge, lukaku, benzema, rossi, aguero? {Ed002's Note - 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1.}

09 Jul 2011 15:35:27
Ed letting jovanovic go on a free does this mean we must pay him off as in wages? If so why wouldn't we just sell him for a pound? {Ed002's Note - No not his wages, this would be the case if he had been released. Liverpool will of course have to pay the remainder of his signing on fee though.}

09 Jul 2011 15:35:02
Sunderland have meant to be agreed a fee with Liverpool for Aqualani for 14m? Trying to find out the source, or where from.

09 Jul 2011 15:31:59
ed do you think would OL would let 2 of their star players go: bastos and cissoko and if we did get them together could the price become cheaper? {Ed002's Note - They will both likely be leaving reagardless. Buy one, get one free - no.}

09 Jul 2011 15:23:56
really think we should go in for samir nasri with only a year left on his contract and his price being an estimated 20 a think we'd be willing to pay the kind of money for a player of this quality would be a great buy. with dc's "connections" within france and nasri being french what are the chances of a bid ed? {Ed002's Note - Slim at best.}

09 Jul 2011 14:55:46
heard threw former player liverpool are interested in Aidan White from Leeds United as a future left back, which could indicate we go for a short term option such as Wayne Bridge whilst he matures.

09 Jul 2011 14:53:09
hi, can i say that j.pennant might be good alternative to downing? we are looking for a good crosser of the ball aint we? if r.benitez used to rate him i think he is good enough. what is your opinion ed? {Ed002's Note - No chance.}

09 Jul 2011 14:46:54
Ed where has this story of a bid for Bastos materialised from as I can't find it anywhere (ie SSN etc)?

Where have you seen this story and is it definite?

I think a very good player if we do get him out and out wide players are what we have needed for ages. {Ed002's Note - Just accept my word for it. It bid has been made.}

09 Jul 2011 14:43:05
HI ED'S
Just watched Michel Bastos on youtube and my god he is a very good player and I think exactly what we need, so can one of the ed's please clarify what exactly is going on, and where did you find out this information because there has been no clarification of it. Please answer and thank you very much Ed's for helping us and non-stop working. Keep up the great work {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you want from us. A bid has been made of 9M euros - that is it. There is no more to say.}

09 Jul 2011 14:42:52
ed can you tell me if you have heard anything about this following rumour . Raul Meireles is going to juventus and aqualini is going to parma in a deal to land young winger Sebastian Giovinco. Parma at the end of the season exercised the option to buy 50% of his contract from juventus . this means juventus own 50% and parma own the offer 50% of Sebastian Giovinco contract . ?? he is a great young talent attacking midfielder with noted dribbling skills, play-making skills and he is known for his freekicks. he usaully plays out on the left wing ??? {Ed002's Note - No chance I am afraid. Giovinco has only just moved permanently to Parma.}

09 Jul 2011 14:20:11
Lfc bid for Bastos rejected, lfc to make an increased bid. Villa will hold out for £20 million for downing regardless of whether the player hands in a transfer request or not. Downing is the priority buy KK & DC have been turned off by villa's hard stance and our now looking at other options. Money is not a problem, it is whether the players fits the bill. Expect further news on our interest in
Bastos and also Mata. Turan is being considered too but is deemed a bit lightweight for epl. please know that everything necessary is being done to ensure we have a team strong enough to compete with the top teams for at least a qualifying place in the champs league this coming season.

My source is a friend who is related to someone with very close links to lfc (although he would not tell me their name).

09 Jul 2011 14:11:39
Merieles NOT going to Asia with Liverpool squad for pre season. As far as I know he's not injured so maybe a deal in progress?

Gav the RED

09 Jul 2011 14:08:22
Ed do you know if we are interested in Shane Long. A lot of people said he wasn't good enough for us but I still think he ccould do a good job as back up striker. If I remember correctly we played Reading in the F.A Cup a season or two a go and he was a major threat. I think he may even have scored a header and we were knocked out. I'm not sure but thats how I remember it. What is your opinion on him? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest.}

09 Jul 2011 14:06:07
Mavinga to sign for Rennes - Also heard a rumour today suggesting Kevin Doyle will be brought in as a squad player
dmb

09 Jul 2011 13:50:40
Hi All, Having seen the official squad numbers on the clubs website, looks like Maxi is staying, as he has been shifted from 17 to 11 where as Henderson has taken Jovanavic's 14 and is now listed along with Aqualani and Insua as not having a number

09 Jul 2011 13:49:57
as things stand with players staying and going. from whats been said is that kk wants to keep aqua, cole. as for raul m if a good offer will have to be made for him to go. the players looking to be shiped out first are the likes of konchsky, insua, jova, polsen, amoo, eccleston, ngog, degan all of them are looking to be sold not loaned.there are four youngsters going to blackpool on loan bruna, dani p, mendy, ince. downing will be a liverpool player buy next week with ngog, konchsky going the other way and maybe wilson on loan. as for other players lfc are looking at nothing as been said as no one other than the main men know who they are after. good times are coming back two soild signings already and i would say more to come hopefully.

09 Jul 2011 13:38:01
Ed02, Are Villa playing hardball for Downing, Hearing they want £25m for him, Downing puts in T Req, Villa get £20m for him. Would we pay that kind of money for him. please reply, Cheers, TJ. {Ed002's Note - I imagine they are not happy about low bids being made. However, if Downing were to ut in a transfer request and Liverpool were to go back with a better offer I see no reason why a deal cannot be completed.}

09 Jul 2011 13:31:58
Hai ed, So if we sign do Bastos. Is it likely we will pursue a specialist left back. Who do u think is the most likely fr left back position.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Enrique.}

09 Jul 2011 13:19:34
Liverpool have a friendly with Valerenga on the 1st August - this is because we are interested in buying Jamaican international Luton Shelton.

He is a 25 year old winger with 57 caps and a good goal record.

Price is around 2 million plus the revenue from the friendly

You heard here first

King Kenny 4eva - YNWA - Luv LFC

09 Jul 2011 12:59:15
Ed do you still expect downing to sign even though we are trying to get bastos? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know at the moment. Much depends on a further bid being made for Downing.}

09 Jul 2011 12:59:10
hi ed, great site, just woundering, do you think it would be good to offer a contact to nigel reo-coker or mat upson as they are both free transfers and would not mind being on the bench and come off to make a impacted? they both british and good players, and i dont believe it would affect our wage demand that bad either {Ed002's Note - No, I would not offer them contracts.}

09 Jul 2011 12:54:56
E.D.

Any truth in the player exchange offer which was apparently made by Liverpool. The Aquilaini and Lavezzi swap i mean. Source seems to think it is legit but i have my doubts because player exchanges are very rare these days?

Do you know any further transfer developments? Apart from the obvious which is Bastos

Looking forward to your reply

Ed's I have been out for the evening (Aussie time) why is all the talk of Downing not coming and a bid for Bastos ? I have scrolled over but can't find the answer.
Cheers

Aussie red {Ed001's Note - because we bid for Bastos yesterday.}

So would you say the downing is off or we are still interested but sussing out other options ie; Bastos ?
What effect do you think this will have on any move for Mata ?

Aussie red {Ed002's Note - The two may not be related.}

09 Jul 2011 12:50:45
liverpool left to sign Downing/Mata, Walcott, Cissokho & maybe some players as subs ? people what you think ?

09 Jul 2011 12:16:02
Striker for liverpool is not a priorty for kenny this window as he will use kuyt as back up for carrol and suarez

09 Jul 2011 12:14:06
Ed do you think liverpool will up their bid for bastos, I know he's getting old but he's a really good player. Also has it already been rejected, or is it of your opinion that it will be rejected? Great site eds {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what they will do.}

09 Jul 2011 12:13:05
Is it true, have we bid for Bastos if so brilliant signing (hopefully) even tho he is old and kinda outside of our transfer policy but a solid left back who can attack. Lpool looking more and more likely top 4 candidates. any clarification on this?

09 Jul 2011 12:09:07
I have heard that Downing will sign next week fo £18m but then we need to sell before any further signings arrive. On way out Cole Koncheski Jovanavich Ngog Meireless. Once two or three of these of the wage bill then Enriquie and Dann will follow

Anyone notice how beautiful Saturday mornings seem as we edge closer to the start of the new season? I cannot wait- regardless of whomever may be in our first XI- cmon reds Question for you ed- what is Rafa doing these days? Any chance we will see him back on the sidelines in England? Any chance he could end up in the bootroom with KD & the crew? YNWA azkop {Ed002's Note - Benitez has been doing some media work. I don't know if Liverpool are planning on bringing him back but I am sure he will crop up in the game somewhere soon.}

09 Jul 2011 12:00:46
Ed, I believe Mereiles has not gone with the squad on the tour? Do you know about a offer being made for him? {Ed002's Note - There have been enquiries but I have no news of any offers. It is of course possible.}

09 Jul 2011 11:56:49
Ed sorry to bother you but are you saying the bastos bid is instead of buying downing and that we therefore might be walking away from downing? {Ed002's Note - No. I am saying Liverpool have placed a bid for Bastos. That is it. It has not been accepted and that could be the end of the matter.}

09 Jul 2011 11:54:18
ok ed where do you get this bastos evidence from?, how much out of 10 then are you confident liverpool have definetly put a bid in?, time will tell {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have made a bid.}

5 players to be sold/released

Jovanovic released...

A move to Greek giants Olympiakos has been much mooted, but with the long-term stability of football in Greece under question, it would be no surprise to see Jovanovic return to Belgium, most likely with Anderlecht, who have also shown interest in the 30-year-old.

Alberto Aquilani to be used in PxC....Levazzi??

Despite a permanent move to Juve falling through, interest in the ex-Roma man remains high, particularly within the Serie A, with Napoli a possible destination as a replacement for want away star midfielder Marek Hamsik.

Paul Konchesky to be sold....

Interest has been relatively high for the experienced full-back with Mick McCarthy rumoured to be interested in taking the ex-West Ham man to Wolverhampton, but he faces competition from newly promoted Queens Park Rangers, who are also keen.

Joe Cole to be sold....

Despite his dismal season, Cole is not short of possible suitors, with his former boss Harry Redknapp keen to take him to Tottenham, and Premier League new boys Queens Park Rangers rumoured to be interested in making him their marquee signing ahead of the new campaign.

Phillipp Degen to be sold/released....

as the Fenway group look to reduce Liverpool's overly inflated wage bill. Degen spent last season on loan with VfB Stuttgart, where he only made five appearances, thanks to a series of injuries, but a permanent return to Germany looks the most likely future for the 28-year-old.

{Ed002's Note - Jovanovic has certainly nmot been released.}

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of. But I am told that Liverpool have submitted a bid for Bastos of around 9M euro.}

Hi Ed002's, got a question for you as you were the ed that posted the above yday. - do you know if its bin accepted as lyon want £12m euro last i heard, i fink its a brillant buy as he is like g.johnson can play anywhere down the left wich is wot we need, although id prefer cissohko myself..

Fanx Ed

{Ed002's Note - It has not been accepted and Liverpool will need to offer more. Arsenal are much closer on Cissokho and the player has now come out and said he has issues with Comolli.}

so there is basically no chance us getting cissohko because he has issues with comolli, do u know wot issues he has or is it an excuss to gwt a move to arsenal n is i crnt see wenger paying over £10m on a lb tho, as for bastos do u fink he will sign if we up the offer to £14m euro wich is £12m gbp, do u fink he wud be a good buy?

Fanx ed

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if what Cissokho has said will have any impact on an offer being made, but I doubt that he would be favourite to move to Liverpool in any case. Bastos has a desire to play in Turin but seems willing to do what is best for Lyon. Lyon will want more than teh 9M euros offered but as you say a figure of around 14M euro may be enough.}

Aquero deal off as he is set to meet florentino and move to madrid this week, rossi will move to juventus and we are trying for levezzi and cazorla.Villareal looking at munian

Collective thoughts from speaking to people in the footy business that this is roughly what LFC are looking to do in this window. Slight changes may happen depending on who we can sell etc.

amounts are approx given negotiation still to be done.

GK: Doni - free
LB: Baines - 15m
CB: Dann - 7m
RM: A.Johnson - 15m
LW: Downing - 19m

Cost 56m

Sell:
Jovanovic - free
Cole - 4m
Maxi - 4m
Ngog - 5m
Konchesky - 2m
Aquilani - 8m
Insua - 5m
el Zhar - free
B.Jones - free
Meireless - 10m
Pacheco - 2m
Poulsen - 2m

Income 42m

Total spent: 14m (+25m already spent on Hendo and Adam)

The money spent (39m) is available based on the contracts with standard charter (20m per season) / warrior sports (25m per season) and the backing from owners to make initial investment to get us back in to the Champions League.
Also on the basis that big wage earners will have left.

This will also leave us with 14 Birtish players on the first team books. GJohnson, Gerrard, Carroll, Hendo, Spearing, Wilson, Carra, Adam, Shelvey, Kelly, Baines, Dann, AJohnson, Downing

If I hear any other developments, I will let you know.

Heard a rumour that we could be going in for Lavezzi for 15mil plus Alberto Aquilani could be used in the deal.

Also kenny will go in for liverpool fan lad Adra Turan, as villa want too much for Downing and Mata could go to Arsenal or even stay at Valencia.

Ed have you heard of anything on this?? {Ed001's Note - no, nothing.}

09 Jul 2011 11:24:26
That downing will be signed for £18m by Monday once they have wrapped up N'Zogbia deal They already have Albrigton who will replace young Enrique to Arsenal as Cissokho will be cheaper option to Lpool Then one striker will come in and it will be Defoe for £12m.

09 Jul 2011 11:23:00
hey Ed's, is it possible for us to sign players while we are in asia? and do you think that will happen? except of doni of course, i know he will sign on monday, thank you, great work on the site {Ed001's Note - yes and yes I do expect signing/s to join while we are away.}

Liverpool will pursue an interest in Monaco midfielder Park Chu-Young, who carries a massive fan base in the Far East, where Reds main shirt-sponsors Standard Chartered have their business base.

Liverpool have also been in the market for a back-up keeper to number one Pepe Reina, and Roma veteran Alexander Doni is likely to arrive by the weekend on a free transfer.

The Reds know they will need a strong defender at left-back following the purchase of Adam, who will play on the left side of midfield but will not be asked to perform too many defensive duties.

Discussions have also been quietly proceeding with Birmingham over their highly-rated centre-half Scott Dann, who was born on Merseyside and is a Liverpool fan.

HOW LIVERPOOL COULD LOOK (4-3-3):

Reina;
Johnson, Carragher, Dann, LB?;
Gerrard, Henderson, Adam;
Suarez, Carroll, LW?.

Ed are the Bastos rumours legit? I do rate the guy but is he too old for the fsg policy and be a bit pricey - French clubs over inflating prices etc {Ed002's Note - You think I would lie to you?}

09 Jul 2011 10:44:33
hi ed just wondering do you believe we could get bastos and if so do you think he would be effective at are side knowing he can play both left back and left wing cheers bud. {Ed002's Note - Sure, if Juventus do not make a better bid. LIverpool's offer of 9M euros will not be enough but perhaps something in the region of 13-15M euros would be. Bastos is a very good player but nearly 28 so I think Liverpool will be reluctyant to get in to a bidding war over him.}

09 Jul 2011 10:44:33
Anything on Bastos {Ed002's Note - Everyone thinks Bastos is Juventus bound but Liverpool have submitted a 9M euro bid. The player seems resigned to leaving and has a stated preference for Juventus but says he will do what is best for OL.}

09 Jul 2011 10:39:43
a close source 2 myself as informed me that there is a player plus cash deal in place for boltons gary cahill. the rumoured player is jay spearing. expect this to start materialising in the next week or so

09 Jul 2011 10:36:11
wenger has said arsenal are close to completing the deal for gerviniho and he is working hard to sign one or two more players this transfer window , surely they must be a left back and a cb so dont expect to see mata at arsenal . Im not saying we will sign mata but if he doesnt improve the places above thats great news for us {Ed002's Note - The Gervinho deal is effectively complete.
Don't take "1 or 2" quite so literally and there may be a thought to use Gibbs at left back if thyey cannot get Cissokho as Baines is clearly too expensive. Arsenal certainly maintain an interest in Mata whilst Liverpool seem to be heading down the Downing and Bastos route right now. Cissokho I am told has "issues" with Damien Comolli.}

09 Jul 2011 10:32:02
Ed any fresh enquary abour Vergas. he did well with Peru in Copa America. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of. But I am told that Liverpool have submitted a bid for Bastos of around 9M euro.}

09 Jul 2011 10:25:40
ED? everythings gone quiet... is there something brewing with transfers? do u reken anyone comming in over the weekend?? {Ed009's Note - I doubt it, unless the Downing deal gathers momentum fast.}

09 Jul 2011 09:37:54
ed what do you think the chances of us signing adel taarabt are and do you rate him?personally i think hes a great player and hes only in his early twenties and would go for cheap {Ed009's Note - I would suggest the chances are very low. He has already worked with Comolli at Tottenham where the player failed to make an impact. If he leaves Tottenham it will likely be for sunnier climes, for example Spain.}

09 Jul 2011 09:21:55
On BBC it says man city have aggreed a fee for nasri does this mean Adam Johnson is avaivable and what are the chances of us signing him?

09 Jul 2011 08:59:33
What's the score with Turan Ed? It's something of an obsession with me now all the rumpled starting/stopping. He's young(ish) left sided, Likes a fight and would fit in the prem no danger. Plus he's a self confessed fan. Most boxes ticked surely? {Ed002's Note - Arda will move this summer and looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available, but now things appear to be changing. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. He has al;so been offered to Juventus. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

09 Jul 2011 08:39:26
Looks like we're not getting downing so now we're after nzogbia?? So we have gone from trying to get a good player to looking at an average player, I hope not Let's now focus on mata

Great site by the way eds, keep up the good work

Hey Ed's/Fellow Reds,
Havent been on for a bit been away on hols and busy in work and stuff, but still had a sneaky look here an there.Just thought i'd share something I heard last week is that the Dann to stoke deal fell through due to him wanting a move to LFC which we have been keeping tabs on him quietly promising him that will come in for him.He wasnt prepared to entertain Stokes offer so refused to agree personal terms.Have you heard anything on this eds?It will become a serious bid by LFC when we tie up our LB and LW positions as they are our priority.

Cheers

Morning Eds and everyone

I still believe in what I have been told and as more and more rumours start circulating it seems that the pieces of the jigsaw are falling into place.

Downing to LFC, Mata to Arsenal and Walcott to LFC to wear Number 10 shirt and play as a striker. With Geviniho and Mata going to Arsenal I can see this happening.

Make of it what you will but thats my 2 pence for this transfer window.

Thanks

Tobey

Just read the match magazine and in there is a interview with an agent. The agent says that he had a call from liverpool for a seria a top class player . I am thinking this player could be lavezzi because we have been linked with him in the past and at the moment it looks like man city have cooled there interest in him or is that because he is in the copa america ? . Ed have u heard anything about lavezzi ? {Ed002's Note - No, but his agent is Frederic Guerra - who was the interview with?}

09 Jul 2011 03:45:08
Hey eds, do you think we could sign drenthe? he's been left out of madrid's tour....
YoungRed {Ed002's Note - I guess there is a chance and there have been links in the past. But he really has been hiding away for a while so I am not sure if there is a risk attached or not. I think we may have a clearer view about Enrique in the next few days, so we will have a better idea then.}

Drenthe faded at Madrid then went on loan (to Hercules or somewhere) and for a while was incredible, and something of a revelation. But then it came out that the board weren't paying players, so Drenthe came out and spoke up, expecting others to join him, but no-one did and he went from a hero to something of a pariah. No-one seems to want anything to do with him now. He's very talented but would be a huge risk, his gangster get-up and lifestyle make Rio Ferdinand look like Stephen Fry

Heard from my source today, he doesn't say much but when he does it's usually right:

Kenny will look to wrap up Downing soon, but you already knew that, also a left-back is considered a luxury not a priority due to our young full-backs. Similarly a centre-back is not considered a priority until next summer, and Danny Wilson is expected to step up to become more involved next term. We will bid for Mata if other teams do, but would prefer to clear the deadwood first and sign him next year. Probably all stuff you already knew, but just thought I'd better share it anyway
