Good afternoon Eds. I saw a report on ESPN that Crystal Palace is looking to bring in Brewster on loan for the rest of the season. It also stated there were a few Championship teams interested as well (Bristol and Swansea as I recall) . Just wanted to see if there was any truth to the Crystal Palace rumor. Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - yes but Liverpool will look to block it.}

Thanks for the reply Ed!

Do you think it’s a good idea to keep him here rather than a loan?

{Ed002's Note - It depends if he is going to get game time or not - right now a loan would make sense for the player but I doubt the club see it that way unfortunately.}

I think right now we need to be cautious as 1 or 2 injuries would mean he'd be needed in matchday squad, with league cup, fa cup and club world cup he should be guaranteed another few starts before January window ends, I'd think a loan opportunity should only be evaluated when we analyse our situation come then.

I personally think we need to keep Brewster, especially with the fixtures coming think and fast between now and the end of the season.

Agree, if he isn’t getting opportunities here he needs the game time! Do you think he would get game time at palace?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.)

Ed. 002

Obviously he was injured last season but if this had been then it would have made sense. Right now he is our second reserve behind Origi as a forward. When Studge, Ings, Solanke, etc. were at the club he was way down the pecking order. Injuries occur, cup competitions occur, etc. While it would make sense for the players development to go out on loan it would be foolish for the club to let him go out. I think this one is a no brainer.

{Ed002's Note - Then it would be reasonable for him to want to move on in the summer.}

If he can get regular premier league games it can only benefit him in the long run
A loan for me would be good.

It's up to him but he's still only a teenager starting off his first season innvolved in the first team squad of the European champions. He knows he will have to be patient and I don't see the urgent rush for him to be demanding regular first team starting opportunites just yet, he'll get more game time as the season unfolds and it's up to him to show his potential. In 2 or 3 years our forwards will be passing into their 30s if they're all even still here by then, Brewster will only be 21 or 22 so I hope their isn't big pressure on him to feel he needs to rush his career.

If he's confident of his ability he'll want to stay and prove he's good enough. The likes of Abraham, Kane, rashford have shown that when they were given the rare chance in the team despite being down the pecking they took advantage with explosive immediate impacts. Brewster is still a kid who's coming back from a long injury. His career path doesn't need to be defined in the next year.

What I like is that klopp sees something in him to keep him around like he did with trent in his early days. He never wanted to keep Kent, Wilson, ojo around the team but he seems to have belief in young rhian which is great.

Fully agree with that Har. It’s not like we’re holding him hostage against his will. He’s being paid to be a member of one of the best squads in world football. Why on earth would he want to go out on loan?
His focus should be on learning exactly the way the manager wants him to play and working so hard at it that he can’t be ignored. The fact Klopp wants him to stay around puts him at an advantage to the likes of Grujic as he’ll have to adapt if and when he comes back.
I’d also say that if he starts to throw his toys out and wants to move due to lack of playing time he’s not got the required character to make it at the top anyway.

Yeah beckers but I don't see that kind of attitude being in Brewsters personality. He seems like a decent level headed kid so i doubt hed be the type to throw toys out of the pram. We seen lately with Camacho and Duncan, both 18 year olds who wanted to move on, I've no issue with any player making a career choice to move on but it's how they both acted publicy made me glad they're gone, when 18yr olds who've proved nothing start letting their false ego show so young then I can't think they will have the right mentality to succeed. Camacho publically bemoaning the decision of his manager to play him out of position is appalling lack of respect while Duncan publically slating the club shows me he's another kid with the wrong attitude.

Then we see the likes of origi, multi million pound international player who spent time sent out on loan, along with other periods where he was frozen out but he kept his head down and earned his future at the biggest club he'll play for simply by doing his taking on the field and never bringing the club or staff into public dispute. I feel Brewster is more like origi than the other 2 egos.

We need to start finishing games off earlier so that we can give players a run out.

If We are scraping results late on and this will limit opportunities for fringe players.

03 Nov 2019 07:44:04
Might be the right thing for him to want to move, but wanting to hang on to him might also be the right thing for the club.

It's taken Origi a long while to earn his place in the squad.

A lot can happen between now and the summer; we know one of our front 3 wants away so I guess it's up to Brewster to prove his worth.

I guess he could always go on loan, as Origi did (admittedly not under good circumstances), and see where he and the club are in a year.

03 Nov 2019 10:47:43
I think if he got 10 starts this season he'd have to be happy, at the moment he's on course to do exactly that, while getting to train with the best team in the world. No problem here, kid and club are happy. a nothing story!

04 Nov 2019 10:57:37
Am I right in thinking he could go out on loan until January? If that's the case a decision should be made at the end of January based on what cups we are in. Got to imagination he will play the league and FA cup. Maybe a little in the champs league if we qualify early.
