Hello Eds and Reds,

I had a good look through the pages and genuinely couldn't find a definitive list. Do you know of any players that could be looking to leave the club this Summer and any potential replacements lined up if people should go?
Could you show me where you've mentioned it or copy the text as a response? I know this gets annoying but a list of rumours could save you guys a lot of time answering the same questions from guys like me. Sorry for not being better at searching for what I want and I look forward to your reply.

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Liverpool to look at the midfield next summer and still look to a LM and again an AM - they are two positions where there could be improvement. I suspect that a CB may well need to be added but that assuming Lovren or someone else leaves. Liverpool may look to bolster the HG quota and have looked at Dael Fry (CB), Ben White (CB) and Ben Godfrey (CB) but are putting their efforts in to a high-end CB first. Much will depend on youngsters developing and how Gomez does - assuming Lovren is leaving. This would be in addition to Minamino, unless there is an unexpected departure.

Diego Carlos (CB) Manchester City have dropped their interest and are looking at others which will possibly be available to solve their issue in January. Real Madrid have a sustained interest and Liverpool has declared an interest. in taking DC in the summer.
Dael Fry (CB) Liverpool has a declared interest in Fry as they look to bolster the HG quota - knowing that prices will increase - much is expected of Fry.
Ben Godfrey (CB) - another HG option to Fry.
Ben White (CB) another option to Fry.

Mathieu Goncalves (LB) Toulouse say they have spoken with Juventus over the player but it has been suggested that Liverpool will look to him at the expense of Larouci, which would be a shame as he is well thought of. I know nothing of Liverpool's plans at LB if they are to add another.

Klopp apparently remains keen on Sander Berge (DM) but it is difficult to see how he would get regular game time with Fabinho in the side. Napoli, Spurs and Fiorentina are keen and West Ham see him as a replacement for Declan Rice if he were to leave.

Piotr Zielinski (CM/LM) speculative but Klopp has had interest for some time and he will be one of the Napoli players made available - but would expect to be a starter and is expected to be given a significant increase in wages to stay at Napoli. I would strike him from the list.

Amine Harit (AM) is having a decent season but I am not aware of interest of Liverpool but they have scouted Schalke matches. He would be effectively a like-for-like replacement for Shakiri and he would likely get around the same amount of opportunities. He will be 21 or so now and I would expect a drop to the bench would not be attractive for a player who is playing regularly at a good level. He has turned down clubs in the past as it would stagnate. It makes no sense for the player or the club. And bringing in non-HG players to pad out the squad makes no sense either. Signed a new contract to fend off interest from elsewhere. Regardless, he would be a very good buy if it were possible.

Kai Havertz (AM) Bayern Munich will likely move for KH if the option on Philippe Coutinho not taken up, but interest from elsewhere - particularly Barcelona (if Coutinho leaves), Manchester City (as a David Silva replacement) and Juventus. Interest of Milan will likely not go anywhere. Dortmund and PSG have both certainly spoken with his agent. Numerous other clubs have had scouts watch including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid who have watched him on a number of occasions but either don't see the value in the price now or have other targets (where Chelsea and Real Madrid are concerned). Whether Liverpool wish to throw their hat in to the ring is another matter. Bild wrote an article citing interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid - and then went on to write another saying Manchester United and Manchester City have spoken directly with the player - which they have not. Somewhere down the line an English paper added Liverpool as one of these clubs. Right now, Liverpool has not made any approach to Bayer Leverkusen regarding the player.

The reality is that all four clubs want an AM player - and he is Bayern's preferred recourse assuming they decide not to take up the option on Coutinho. Manchester United are looking for an AM player and have been baulking at the price being asked for Bruno Fernandes (AM) and have not lost sight of Christian Eriksen (AM). They have certainly looked at him, but I am not aware of more than that and I am sure they have not spoken with the player directly. Real Madrid are also looking for an AM player and have been attracted by the low-cost option of Eriksen, buyt he is almost certainly heading elsewhere. Finally, Manchester United do have the need to replace David Silva but it would be a very significant investment in a youngster.}

Filip Stevanovic (AM/LW) Partizan Belgrade kiddie who has been watched by Spurs, Borussia Dortmund, Torino, Liverpool, Lazio, Atlanta, Herta Berlin, Werder Bremen and Southampton. And I suspect others. Unlikely to leave until 2021.

Takumi Minamino (RW/F) Augsburg were keen in the summer and at one time Everton and Dynamo Moscow had scouts look at Takumi Minamino. Joined in January for a little over £9M.

Mohammed Daramy (RW/F) kiddie has been looked at and might be seen as a replacement for Liam Miller (F) who has no future at Liverpool and will leave. Interest may have gone with Takumi Minamino joining.

Bilel Hassaini (RW) was looked at several times last season but is in a state of flux right now and you can likely forget him. Again interest likely went with Minamino joining

Ousmane Dembele (LW/RW) Ousmane Dembele (LW/RW) Someone close to the situation tells me Liverpool has made a general enquiry as to the asking price - and have been told €100M – nothing more at this time.

Thomas Muller (F) is miffed because he has been on the bench but Bayern Munich will not sell him without a replacement and there is nothing to indicate that he will be available in January. Additionally, he would I assume be a Firmino replacement if he were to join. I would forget it – I am not aware of any Liverpool interest.

It has been suggested that Liverpool will look to David Neres (LW/RW) although I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool - if they were to declare interest it would likely be at the expense of Salah. Neres is liked by a number of sides but he has a reputation for sometimes going missing and being rather moody.

As for Salah, I am aware that he and his agent are aware that they have put themselves in a difficult position with financial demands which saw them laughed out of Madrid and approaches to other sides came to nothing - regardless, Liverpool is probably the best place for Salah to be biding his time right now. The efforts to boost his profile will no doubt continue, and he will doubtless be holidaying with a professional photographer again and be seen kissing babies and rescuing swooning girls with twisted ankles from being eaten by bears. But these efforts to sell him as the new Real Madrid poster boy may come to nothing as they have a first-choice forward target for next summer. So right now, it is hard to say where he could potentially move to unless things change - and they always do. In terms of a replacement, the player Klopp has made no secret of his desire to work with is Lorenzo Insigne but I suspect age is against that ever happening. So if someone were to push me in to saying who would be the best fit if Salah were to leave next summer, I would say Federico Chiesa. He would be a direct replacement, has similar attributes to Salah, is you, liked by Klopp and, although Liverpool have shown no interest, will be sold next summer - assuming Fiorentina can fight off Inter this summer.

Victor Osimhen (S/F) One particular Liverpool scout is pressing for the club to sign him. Barcelona have also shown an interest, but they have a financial issue to solve first - he only joined in the summer and Lille will resist any January bids - and it is hard to see why the player would consider a career on the bench. Spurs have looked at him and spoken with his agent. A senior Chelsea scout has also been watching the player who could be seen as an option to their primary striker target - but their need is for January rather than the summer. There was serious interest from Arsenal when he was much younger, but he opted for Wolfsburg.

Outbound:

Shamal George (G) loan to St Gallen
Loris Karius (G)
Devan Lovren (CB) perhaps in the summer
Nathaniel Phillips (CB) should be headed back to Stuttgart on loan at the end of the month
Allan (CM) left for Atletico Mineiro
Adam Lallana (LM, AM, CM) I think time may come in the summer
James Milner (M/W) perhaps
Rhian Brewster (S) loan to Swansea
Liam Millar (F) - a youngster who will suffer the same fate as most of the youngsters at Liverpool.}

Pretty much same update Ed002 that you gave when I asked a few weeks ago, apart from with the addition of Ousmane Dembele. Thank you for sharing. Bit strange us asking about him as at the price quoted he would need start every game?

13 Jan 2020 14:51:45
Always love the bit about Salah and swooning girls and kissing babies 😂.

13 Jan 2020 15:27:22
Jay dub red. I no lol I’m the same, Ed has has dropped that in a few times and just funny every time 😂😂. What’s your thoughts on Dembele?

13 Jan 2020 17:26:33
Surprised that were looking at an expensive CB option seeing as Gomez seems to be back up to speed - be a shame to shell out huge amounts and stall the lad's development. I'd be happy to see Lovren moved on, retain Matip and then see another of the younger players moved into the Lovren role.

{Ed002's Note - That does not appear to be the plan right now.}

13 Jan 2020 18:34:17
Sorry Ed002, you’ve got the juices flowing again now lol. I’m assuming there is no way Dembele will arrive whilst Salah and Mane are at the club?

{Ed002's Note - Ok.}

13 Jan 2020 19:33:16
Shame that Ed002, I had high hopes that Gomez might learn his trade playing alongside VVD and then be club captain in 4 or 5 years time. I suppose all will be revealed soon enough, is there a chance we might move on both Lovren and Matip in the summer? Might make more sense then?

{Ed002's Note - Of course anything is possible.}

13 Jan 2020 20:34:11
For the sake of argument, if Gomez were to be made available for sale, I’d wager that Liverpool would ask for £50 million plus so I don’t necessarily see an expensive Lovren replacement as someone who would automatically keep Gomez out of the team. A quality CB addition can only be good for overall squad strength and allow VVD a breather because, as it stands, his loss for any substantial time would be a near-disaster at present.

Matip/ Lovren/ Gomez have all missed big chunks of games over the past 3 seasons. Perhaps, that's why Klopp wants Diego Carlos.
It would be a shame though. Was hoping Gomez will make the role his permanently from 2020/ 2021 season.

Any home-grown players we are interested other than the centre back?

14 Jan 2020 11:57:30
The players Ed002 mention leaving that affect this first team are Lovren, Lallana and Milner. I would include Clyne and Shaqiri into this mix too.
These are essentially squad depth players now and could be replaced by our academy with guys like Hoever, van den Berg, Larouci, Jones, Elliott and Brewster/ Wilson covering their departure.
However with Liverpool spending very little last summer and this January, I imagine this summer we will be looking to add first team competition to the squad.

With Gomez and Hoever to cover it is unlikely Liverpool would look for a replacement for Clyne, should he leave.

I imagine Diego Carlos would be a main target to stop Liverpool having to rotate centre back partners for Van Dijk, with so many injuries being picked up by Matip, Gomez and Lovren.

I could imagine a left back coming in because even though Larouci is promising and could cover, he can't compete to start with Robertson. I don't see Mathieu Goncalves as the answer though, needs more time to prove himself. Although Klopp could see Gomez covering the entire back line, with Larouci as the back up?

A player like Sander Berge would have to know he is coming in to compete with one of the best in Fabinho to start games. Guys like Henderson and Wijnaldum already cover Fabinho so it's not a priority.

Losing a player like Milner could be huge for Liverpool. Not only is he quality squad depth in all midfield positions but he can cover both wing backs and potentially wingers too if needed. I would keep him as long as possible but a player like Zielinski could cover the midfield role, if Gomez covers the defensive roles too.

I think Lallana's time with Liverpool will be finished this summer, although I've been saying that for a while now. His experienced presence is holding back promising youngsters like Jones and Elliott from getting an opportunity to cover any first team injuries. He's a great squad player to have due to his reliability but I believe he might want to find more first team football elsewhere.

Losing Shaqiri would be unfortunate but understandable, he just can't compete to start games ahead of Mane or Salah. We've already seen Minamino come in who I believe more of a chance to compete and I believe a guy like David Neres could do the same.

Players like Havertz and Dembele I think are just out of reach at the moment, unless Salah leaves.
Havertz could potentially walk into our midfield, once he knows our system, although he could also be pushed forward like Firmino was but as a right winger.
Dembele is young and I believe underutilised at Barcelona, at 22 he should be making his mark but is hidden behind Messi, Suarez and now Griezmann.
Both of these players are luxury signings that would only be possible with a big money transfer. Neither of them want to move to sit on the bench. Salah seems the most obvious at this stage to go but I would try to keep him for as long as we can.

If Liverpool lose Clyne, Lovren, Milner, Lallana and Shaqiri this summer, I would look to bring in Diego Carlos, Piotr Zielinski and David Neres to replace them. With academy players like Hoever, van den Berg, Larouci, Jones, Elliott and Brewster/ Wilson covering the rest. If Salah were to leave, then players like Havertz and Dembele become huge potential options as replacements.

I don't understand the perception that we will spend huge amounts on diego Carlos with intention to be VVD long term partner. He will be 27 in the summer, has only played half a season in Spain after coming from playing in much weaker leagues all his career. I don't see why we'd want to spend 65mil on a big risk when in my view he'd be behind Gomez and matip anyway in regards to being settled and experienced in the premier league. Can he even speak English to communicate with our defence? Don't need to throw money at what is and has been the best defence around for 18 months now. If lovren needs replacing fair enough but surely smarter business will be done regarding age, transfer fee and suitability to fit into this close knit squad with long term intention.

15 Jan 2020 01:41:40
Har_red92 I do agree with you. My point was that we need a centre back who doesn't pick up injuries as well as Gomez, Matip and Lovren seem to do. You're point that a 27 year old centre back who moved from Portugal, to France and then Spain isn't guaranteed quality is a good one. I was only using Diego Carlos because that's who Ed002 mentioned could come. Lovren looks the most likely to go because he might want first team football, which Matip and Gomez seem to be ahead of him for. Diego Carlos could be a great signing but this season with Sevilla will decide that for us. If Matip/ Gomez/ Lovren leave, who would you bring in?

16 Jan 2020 18:52:18
Ed002 is it normal practice for clubs to make “General Enquiry’s” on players such as we have with Dembele? Just trying to understand why we would ask that’s all mate. We must clearly be interested in bringing him in, or like I say unless it happens all the time.

{Ed002's Note - Of course - clubs have no interestif players are too expensive or not interested in the move.}

16 Jan 2020 20:08:57
Ok mate thank you, take it at this stage like you say there is nothing more on it? Can we scratch it?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that Liverpool has made an enquiry.}
