ED002

Hope you're well!

Diego Carlos - has the interest gone cold?
Do Sevilla still see Shaqiri as an option in their team, if so, could you see a player swap + cash occur?

It does feel as though if the African cup of nations were to go ahead in Jan/ Feb that the most important position to fill is up top with mane and salah coming out of the first 11. Probably don't have superior cover, as Werner would've been a great fit.
Origi, Minamino aren't at that same calibre.

However, I'm Just curious on the CB aspect as prior to the C.V. you did see something that could occur on this front.

Much appreciated
Tommy T.

{Ed002's Note - The interest would be there but there are financial issues that Liverpool are facing. Much will depend on what money can be raised through sales.}

Hi Ed002,
Will winning the league inject some needed cash?

{Ed002's Note - From where?}

27 Jun 2020 10:25:09
i don't know. hence the question.

{Ed002's Note - You think that someone is going to donate additional money to Liverpool for winning the league?}

27 Jun 2020 10:29:53
im from SA and if my team wins the the league there is prize money. if that's that the case in EPL then thanks.

{Ed002's Note - That money has already been spent.}

27 Jun 2020 10:34:51
isn't that how it works? all the other clubs pull together to get a kitty together.

27 Jun 2020 10:42:52
Hello Ed02, keeping the finances in context. May I ask you, the club is valued at closer to £2 billion. Like how is it related to the current financial crisis at LFC? Or is there one?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

27 Jun 2020 11:29:42
You end up losing money for winning the title, a lot of players are probably on bonuses and some transfer fees have add ons.

27 Jun 2020 13:40:07
Unless I'm mistaken, winning the league has immediately cost us more than £12.5m in cascading payments to clubs and players we have bought into the club. I imagine Grujic, Harry Wilson, Lovren and Shaq must be moved on before DC would be a viable option for us. With Sepp van den Berg and Rhys Williams, a couple of years from first-team football, DC would make sense but as Ed002 has pointed out players will have to be moved on first.

Liverpool echo has made an estimation on the prize money.

ed002 I know funds are tied up in transfer from before how long is it till the likes of VVD and Alisson are payed for. And have we stopped paying stupid agent fees yet or are will still doing that with transfers . cheers ed.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool topped the table for agents fees again for February 1, 2019, and January 31, 2020 - more than £100M in three years.}

27 Jun 2020 18:00:46
Thanks Ed should not be as bad this year hopefully. Ed do agents get big fees of clubs for renewing contracts. I would hope that now we are proven winners over the last 2 seasons players should want to come more with the football we are playing and the last 2 trophies we have won.

{Ed002's Note - There are no significant fees for renewing contracts. Players will come but others need to leave to make space and a close watch needs to be kept on the Home Grown quota.}

27 Jun 2020 20:29:24
For some perspective Liverpool were the top for paying agents fees in England this year (and the others Ed mentioned) but this year the top 5 were split by less that £5m in total and the other 4 are the others in the traditional top 5.

{Ed002's Note - And what is the excuse for the year before?}

28 Jun 2020 08:56:21
This is how the evaluation works, the players at the club are considered assets that appreciate and depreciate over time. The players were currently have a valued significantly high, but all that can change. Then you take into account the stadium, then the debts from the owners giving the club money.

Clubs are always spending money one year in advance. Plus you have to look into the club has commitments now that it must pay. Such as several clubs are going to activate clauses for players we bought. Even though Van Dijk cost 75m, there is always clauses such as games played, winning trophies and so forth. Winning the league has cost the club money in paying it out. Even though they will get a significant bump, but I am sure they would spend that money at clearing out some debt. Just my opinion.

{Ed047's Note - you are clearly the one who is utterly clueless, you are wrong on every count and an embarrassment to your fellow reds.

Grow up and don’t be so bitter and pathetic. 🤦‍♂️

{Ed047's Note - are you for real, you really don’t have a clue do you, wrong on every count! Utterly pathetic.

So Edd’s are you saying we have a higher wage bill over the last 2 years then city united and Chelsea?

{Ed002's Note - It should have said agent fees Keith. Thanks for pointing it out.}

28 Jun 2020 20:29:52
Cheers Ed I thought I was going mad there nice one 👍.

{Ed002's Note - My fault.}

Hi Ed002,

Purely out of interest, what necessitates a higher agent fee? Why would, for example, one club pay a higher agent fee for a player of the same value than another club? Is it purely down the poorer negotiation at the club/ a club like Liverpool having to pay more money because of past poor transfer practice etc.

Hope it won't cause too much trouble to answer.

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Agent fees are higher for English sides as they have more money than all but a few sides. It gets abused. Some clubs use third parties to negotiate on their behalf which again adds to the costs. Some clubs use agents as advisors which again adds to the costs. Right now there are plans to cap agent fees from next season but FIFA could not meet to ratify the change to the rules because of the pandemic - so that will likely see it slip a year, but bring it back to a sensible level. That is why the agents/representatives of a few high-end players are looking for higher fees this summer - it was seen as the last opportunity to make a "killing".}
