Not that I usually listen to sky sports but they’ve mentioned that Larouci is looking to leave in search of first team football

is there any truth in this?

{Ed002's Note - Sorry I don't know.}

It would be hard to fault him if he decides that considering our left flank of Robertson and mane could make him feel that it's highly probable he won't play regular football for at least next 2 or 3 seasons and realistically even longer as klopp will surely add more established left sided players in that period as origi, Milner and lallana often used on the left side of the pitch will need replacing so laroucci will expect to face competition from whoever is added along with robbo and mane who are at peak right now.

I hope klopp sees enough to back him to go on loan with an eye to being in our future plans but I sense that he's not convinced entirely in larrouci to step up and will prefer to sign a player in his position instead. The feeling regarding neco, Curtis Jones, Elliott and Brewster is that klopp would love to eventually integrate them but larrouci seems a step away from that sort of belief I sense.

He should run as far as possible
I think by now it’s clear he won’t get a chance
Or management don’t think he is good enough
So let him go
Simple

And while they are at it . throw matip lovren and origii out the door too.

Ed002 it looks like Larouci has asked to leave and is in the final year of his contract. Adam Lewis has also asked to go on loan, I can't see us not signing a young left back unless Klopp thinks Milner is set to be back up again or Gallacher is deemed ready.

{Ed002's Note - Yasser Larouci (LWB) Reims look to now be losing Hassane Kamara and they are starting to look for options and that includes Larouci. Brentford are expecting to lose Benrahma and want a left-sided player capable of covering the LWB and LW positions - and Larouci is a LW who has been converted to LB - and their interest is no secret. As many youngsters are doing, Larouci wants opportunities in the first team and Liverpool cannot offer that, and given a little something else going on, he may well look to options.

Klopp has not used Larouci or Lewis and has relied on Milner, Gomez etc. for cover.}

Wow redrebel. those players have been part of a squad that won us the first title in 30yrs! Maybe they will leave, but how you can talk about ‘throwing players out the door’ like that? What happened to YNWA?

As for Larouci, if he’s ready then I think Robbo could do with a backup to give him a break sometimes, much like Nico will hopefully support Trent. If he’s not ready for that then a loan would be ideal.

ed002 I thought Larouci was unlucky to pick up the injury last pre season as he was looking good. I think he played a few cup games last season and at 19 I don't think he is ready for premier league football yet from what I have seen of him. Am sure if he stays he will get game time in the cup games next season and like Neco Williams and Curtis Jones did this season he would just need to stand out to prove himself. Now you can see they are going to part of the squad next season. I think to manty of the young players now seem to think they deserve first team football without earning it.

{Ed002's Note - I agree with you and whilst he will have options, I don't know if he has actually asked to leave - which was the original question.}

16 Jul 2020 16:24:30
When the player in front of you is as consistent and as good as Robertson is, you can hardly blame him for considering his career options as he’s now at the stage where he needs to be getting experience in competitive matches and it would be in fair to him to not let him get that chance.

16 Jul 2020 16:33:53
If he is not good enuff or if he thinks he won't get a chance then it is only normal that he would want to leave. What does the ¨throwing players out the door¨ schtick have to do with anything?

16 Jul 2020 17:47:39
From what I remember from seeing him during the last pre-season it was the defensive side of his game that was weak. He was good going forward, could cross and even cut in and go towards goal. Given that he used to be a winger it is not suprising at all. But if his defensive game has not grown then perhaps he should have a sniff elsewhere and see if there are other better options for him? Maybe he doesn't want to play left back?

16 Jul 2020 18:10:57
I think his 19 and should wait a year he will be given game time in cups next season he might not even get that if he moves. We are not talking about one of the best talents in the game and there is nobody of a young age at the club better than him so I think it’s a silly move if he has asked to leave. The young Lad that plays right back at Brighton looks a player and I understand him wanting a move because Chelsea have a world class Prospect in his position at the club of around the same age and and a top class international there 2 but we have one player there and that’s it. For me though I do think klopp should have given him some game time after the league was won to see what he could do at the level.

16 Jul 2020 23:43:07
Young lads are going to want to play football and the reality of breaking into this first team even for a handful of games is low. I like the idea he backs himself and if he goes about his business of leaving in a professional manner unlike that w@nker Bobby Duncan then it will be fine. Game time at a competitive level is a lot better than the U23's for development. Good Luck to him and hope he does well.

@grino75. I completely agree, and wouldn't be surprised if Tariq Lamptey turns out to be a better player than Reece James in the end.

It was definitely the right decision for him to move on. Larouci, I don't think it's wise to move on yet. We've played Milner or Gomez as cover this season, but you don't know if he'd get the chance next season.

Ed. 002 in this day and age, having 1 year left on his contract and refusing to sign an extension is the equivalent of asking to leave, surely.

I do find the youth conversation a bit of a prickly one. At times you have suggested that young LFC players don't get the opportunities at this club. You also seem to agree that a player needs to work hard and get his head down to deserve a place in the first team. Are they exclusive?

Comparing clubs in the past you have also said that Chelsea were planning to bring through youth last season anyway, regardless of their transfer ban. However now they have been released from that, they are buying players to be ahead of the youth players. Surely that would have happened if the ban had not been in place. My point is that all things being equal, the top clubs will buy in players over promoting youth.

Whether it be a transfer ban or a lack of available funds, it seems that the best opportunities at clubs for youth players to come through is a negative change in the circumstances of clubs. I am not convinced that the top clubs are that far apart on their youth policies.

{Ed002's Note - It is not the same as "asking to leave" which would mean they lose their 5% of the transfer fee - which could of course be significant. Comparing it to Chelsea is not so simple as they are not buying players to replace youth but to replace players moving on or coming to the end of their careers (e.g. Werner will take the place of Michy Batshuayi, Kakim Ziyech will take the place of Pedro etc.) - and Chelsea do have one or two youth products who will be joining the squad this season and others progressing their careers on planned loans. They have also been adding young 16/17 year old players from Europe as this summer is the last opportunity for the British clubs to do so - it is all planned. But they of course suffer with youngsters wanting too much too soon, and Tariq Lamptey is an example of that.}

Ok. Thanks for your views.

One more point of view. Of course I understand the difference between handing in a transfer request and leaving because your contract is running out and you are sold to make a return before leaving on a free. Financially the difference is considerable.

However from a fans point of view, the result is the same. The player leaves. Technically they are different however clubs rarely let a player run down his contract and therefore his refusal to sign a new contract will result in him probably leaving. Hence my comment about them being virtually the same.

{Ed002's Note - Players run down their contracts more often than perhaps you realise. For example, Lallana, Pedro, Vertongen, Willain, Mendy, Longstaff, Callejon, Borini, Bonnaventura, Ibrahimovic, Biglia, Valero, .......

So I really don't understand your point.}
