The clubs are speeding up with their transfer business. Chelsea closing on Havertz while city have started theirs closing on Ake.
Unfortunately our transfer budget is less than what UEFA fined City recently lol.

The only way Chelsea are getting close to us next season is if they buy a new manager.

{Ed025's Note - i think frank has done well in his first season thunderbird..

20 Jul 2020 20:06:56
Frank has done extremely well to be fair, coming the the championship to a club with a transfer ban, he's incorporated some quality youth players and developed a good squad, if Chelsea get a half decent keeper they will compete next season.

{Ed025's Note - i cant see them as a threat to the reds RH, but i expect them to be fighting for a CL spot mate, and i think your right about frank..

20 Jul 2020 20:13:02
Chelsea are on the right track and what a time to splash the cash. They are still a few short at the back! What do you reckon Ed025?

{Ed025's Note - if they get havertz which looks likely then as an attacking team they look good HH, but as you say the back 4 is very dodgy mate, especially with full backs like alonso and azpilacueta..

20 Jul 2020 20:18:22
Next season is a little too soon for them to carry title form for a full season, imo. They lack a little quality at the back and their new signings in attack will need a little gel time.

Could be a big threat for the title the following season though.

Ello ed just watched the blues there the young Lad braithwaite done well, gomes was better an richarlison is in good form, good battling performance.
I can't believe chelsea are letting Willian go he looked the fittest player on the pitch in his 30s surely there someone will benefit from having him .

{Ed025's Note - second half we done well hailstones, but where the hell have they been for the last 61/2 games?, i would take willian for everton, he cant be any worse than davies, walcott or iwobi mate..

20 Jul 2020 20:35:36
I think Frank has done well to be fair. They’ve acquired some very good players, I think they’ll be up there challenging sooner then we think.

20 Jul 2020 20:44:52
Your in good hands with Ancelotti all the same though ed takes time , do u think there will be money for the blues too spend in current circumstances?

{Ed025's Note - to a certain extent hailstones, but if we want quality we will have to get rid of a few mate..

20 Jul 2020 20:58:54
Thanks for the reply Eds, shame you let Lukaku go to United, he's been a beast for inter! Everton will be okay I think though, Walcott isn't that bad! Willian would be a quality signing!

20 Jul 2020 21:52:55
I will be upset if they get Havertz!

He is a player I dream of Liverpool getting but just can’t happen with the finances being discussed.

{Ed025's Note - i think hes a great player SR, he looks the perfect fit for liverpool imo but alas he looks chelsea bound mate..

20 Jul 2020 22:27:00
Just add Havertz to the list of players who will never play for us.

21 Jul 2020 06:45:10
It frustrates me that we are unable to get the players we want to improve the team and keep challenging for top honours. On top of that, some teams like Chelsea are fortunate enough to get some top players easily because they have money to spend and others don't.

Don't get me wrong, we have great players in our squad but I would like to see Klopp strengthen the team even more and probably let some players go.

What better time to attract top players when we are on top.

21 Jul 2020 06:47:44
God I hope City do spunk another 50mil on an inept CB in Ake 😂.

21 Jul 2020 11:46:30
Chelsea should have money to spend, they haven't been able to buy anyone for a couple windows lol

also for us, it must be a combo of money as well as the logistics of the squad. Like I'm sure we'd all love to have Thiago, but included alongside Fabinho, Hendo, Gini, Ox, Jones, Milner for a club that is already paying massive wages for the squad etc just doesn't seem sensible. I'm sure if we were moving a bunch of players on then it'd be a different story but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Also I think some of ya are suffering from an inferiority complex. We have a fantastic squad.

21 Jul 2020 12:42:56
Chelsea can't defend and city who also can't defend are after Ake. Nothing to worry about for next season for me.

21 Jul 2020 14:49:37
the transfer ban has done wonders for chelsea. forced their hand to play their unproven but very talented youth, which fast tracked the development of some incredible players. now they have the opportunity to continue to add talent into a stacked squad. i think they're building a pretty solid threat to both liverpool and manchester city. i don't take them lightly at all.

21 Jul 2020 15:32:06
Kai is the one player i would have loved to see most at LFC. He has the highest ceiling of all the players of that age imo. Can't believe CFC are just buying up all the players we can no longer afford. That club has little soul though, although Frank is creating that a bit.
IF we get Carlos, we will be impenetrable!

21 Jul 2020 16:39:24
All their money is earned through sales to be fair to Chelsea. They’ve made a transfer ban work for them and fair play to them,

21 Jul 2020 19:27:36
Just to point out another great discussion started by my hero Harry.
For me Frank's doing a decent job with a lot of kids. Next season he definitely needs to get top four or it could be bye bye Frank.

21 Jul 2020 21:03:41
Great point Walter 👍.

22 Jul 2020 11:27:44
Walter, if we go by history, Chelsea could even win the league next year and the manager would still go bye bye. That manager's seat seems hotter than most.
