Hello Ed's and reds any info has GINI wijnaldum offered new contract and if he not sign will club look to sell or keep him (if he made available any club interested in him) . I really hope he stays.

Thanks all the Ed's for their relentless work to appease us non stop even with our random and repetitive question.

{Ed002's Note - With little budget to replace Wijnaldum and with Liverpool not looking to keep Grujic I would expect him to extend his contract at Liverpool. Once the season is over I am sure the club will be talking with him.}

Imo it would be wise enough to keep Grujic (younger, more hungrier, less wages, want to prove a point, decent resale value, successful loan) and sell Wijnaldum. Anything you receive should go into the signing of a good left back cover. It’s not like we are utterly dependent on Wijnaldum.

I thought Naby Keita was our left back cover, Harry?

Bullseye. 🎯.

As eds has said many times keeping keeping Grujic would take up a a HG place in the team!

22 Jul 2020 11:51:59
That would weaken us, grujic has never been involved over a season with ideas klopp has instilled in this team, gini has and is a vital cog in how we function, he's also a large step above grujic in quality and realistically selling grujic could likely bring in more money. Why risk bleeding in a new untried player to replace an experienced proven hard working important player who is top quality, and still has a few years left in his tank to continue his level. Should city look to move on De bruyne or Chelsea replace Kante as both are same age. I'd hate to see issues with gini contract as with only a year remaining we would be forced to lose him for a lot less than his worth to us. Let's not take him for granted simply because he doesn't stand out and excite when doing his disciplined job.

There’s a world of difference between Grujic and Wijnaldum not least that Grujic is unproven in the PL and lacks big game experience. Gini starts most games - I wouldn’t be too confident going into next season with Grujic replacing him.

{Ed002's Note - Grujic is a very good player and has a great deal of good experience in Germany. If Liverpool are not going to bring players through they may as well just cherry pick one or two youngsters, scrap the loan system and sell the rest on each year.}

the only way to gain experience is to be given the opportunity.

22 Jul 2020 12:56:07
Grujic needs to be given a chance in our team. He was given promises when he moved to us and we need to deliver on them.

He has shown in pre seasons to being a good player and has first team experience in Germany. He could well be a very good replacement for Hendo in the future.

Stone, the comment above was about replacing Gini with Grujic. I assume you would be equally happy to sell Salah and bring Brewster in?

22 Jul 2020 14:22:25
The biggest issue is going to be the HG quota I think. The issue is not replacing Wijnaldum with Grujic (both non-HG) , but to see how to replace the departures of Clyne and Lallana (both HG) from the squad. Fix the HG quota first, and then see how Wijnaldum and Grujic fit in, into the squad. I'm for keeping both Wijnaldum and Grujic (work permit permitting), but solving the HG puzzle comes first.

IDREAM, you are missing the point. I said no such thing. I was just stating that he needs to be given opportunities in order to gain experience. No hidden meaning and not a call to replace Gini.

Wijnuldum most underrated player in the team.

23 Jul 2020 00:48:12
Fair enough, Stone, and i agree with you that kids need game time. The suggestion above that Grujic replaces Wijnaldum is a risky idea, in my opinon.

23 Jul 2020 12:24:49
cheers idream. sorry for the misunderstanding.

1. Resign Wijnaldum
2. Sell Grujic
3. Give Jones more opportunities.
4. PROFIT.

So many players this season though have come back from successful loans and not kicked on. Lookman never looked like Everton was right for him, reiss Nelson not getting a sniff for arsenal, angelino for city, perreira for United all looked great last season but just not showed to be able to fit into their clubs.

Klopp might see Wilson and grujic as these similar players not suited to us just like he's shown with Kent or Danny ward who were rightly moved on despite having good previous loans.
