It’s not about the overall fee! It’s more to do with the structure. With Werner RBL was adamant about the fee and he had many suitors. Thiago is not very young and who knows what Bayern would want upfront.

There will be a new adapted style/ tactics next season as it appears we have kind of been 'found out' in as much as, stopping our FB's seriously snookers us. In respect of that i imagine that Thiago is going to be part of a new option/ system, should he be brought in, and i trust JK and the coaches more than any internet warrior.

What doesn't make sense about buying a world class midfielder that the inevitable sales of just one of grujic or Wilson easily make back. Add lovren, karius, shaqiri and maybe Origi and 25-30mil investment in thiago is certainly a step up in quality over our outgoings. For a player who most journalists included in bundesliga team of the season I really question those of you under the impression he's finished.

Even though I don't think this will happen. The money will come from players sales. With Alcantara being injury prone, we paid more for Ox and he is no way good as Thiago. However, Ox is a lot younger too.

People need to stop using the"we didn't buy werner so we won't be buying x player, or y player! Werner went right at the start of the summer, when the club wudnt have known what was going to happen in the market.

For all we know, offers have come in for players we'd be willing to sell that would cover the Thiago fee. Not buying Werner doesn't even mean we don't want to buy a certain player in the market in even the £70-80m range . it just means that out of Werner and that certain player, we want the other player more! unlikely I admit, but so was VVD and Allison😂.

Also Werner fee close to 50mil while we thiago deal might be possible for 25mill, it's not comparable when the fees aren't even close. Plus thiago would be considered as a player to instantly compete for a starting spot and slot into first 11 if he performs to his ability.

On the other hand Werner would cost double and come in as a player who wouldn't start in our attack currently if our front 3 continue playing as the have consistently for 3 full seasons. 50mil for excellent back up or 25mil for likely starter in a summer where our dealings need to be shrewd.
