Bayern Munich have apparently dropped the fee required to sign Thiago by £10million. That puts the estimated fee for him at around £28million which now leaves a £5million gap between his asking price and what Liverpool are willing to spend on him, if you are to believe the various reports on all of this that is.
Also seen rumours this morning that Gini Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane and Caoimhín Kelleher (Kelleher is also linked with a loan move to Blackburn rovers for next season should be good experience for him if it happens. ) are going to sign new contracts fairly soon.

I love Thiago he’s a fantastic player but he’s similar to Gini it’s odd that as Gini signs a new deal we grt a player to replace him the one area we have too many players is midfield surely the funds would be better spent on a CB if the above players are signing new deals. Thanks for the info tho man.

Gini Wijnaldum is a box to box kind of midfielder whereas Thiago is more of a deep lying playmaker, very different players imho. Pep Lijnders recently spoke about the need to evolve the style of play and the way we create chances, I believe the Thiago links are a result of seeking a different way of playing especially against teams that will sit deep and double up against the fullbacks.

As for the money side of things, policy is still sell to buy and with Shaqiri, Awoniyi, Origi, Grujic, Wilson, Karius, Ejaria, Larouci, Kane all available for sale with players like Lovren and Lallana gone already and the belief that young players can fill any extra gaps in the squad, this is a deal that they can do for a player and a price which was unthinkable this time last year. As for a CB I can't see Liverpool spending massively on a 3rd/ 4th choice CB, certainly not more than £30million.

Sorry Ed to ask this again but did you actually confirm that we are looking to bring Thiago in this window or not? I no you said we’ve not approached Bayern but just wondered if this is all fact or fiction?

{Ed002's Note - Certainly there have been discussions with a representative of the player and Bayern Munich believe the player himself. Whilst Klopp is certainly keen there are concerns from at least two people in the club that his age, injury issues and lack of a sell on value mean that the club should step back. His huge wages may also cause concern amongst the players with perhaps Fabinho thinking he will be the one replaced. Liverpool have not approached his club.}

Really am getting sick of the talking to reps and players. Obviously talking to player is flat out against the rules without the permission of the selling club but on top of that why talk to the player if everyone at the club haven’t made the decision to purchase him. Just stupid, don’t get it.

With all that said Ed002 he certainly is a strange transfer target.

Ok thank you Ed for clearing that up very much appreciated. I hope we haven’t spoke to the player before the club again then. How do you see this one panning out.

{Ed002's Note - I really don’t know.}

Thiago is nothing like Gini, Thiago has a great eye for a pass, Gini doesn't, he is a work horse with the very odd goal or assist chucked in, Thiago is exactly what we need but as we know someone will have to go before we buy as the owners don't like sending money over the sea, IMO.

Huge wages? Don’t get me wrong it’s big as I read it’s around £110k per week he’s on at Bayern but bloody Lovren and lallana were on that.

That comment about gini shows you have little to no understanding of the role he plays for Liverpool and you should really go and watch him play more often to gain a better and more correct opinion of gini.

He will replace Milner, who is off to Leeds, regardless of contract.
