Hi Ed's any truth that we still trying to sign Sarr?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any offer and right now the effort is in sales. There has of course been interest.}

Agree1 Disagree0

I will be surprised we bought him without selling - shouldn't the priority be on selling first?

Seems a ridiculous waste of 40mil now we’ve bought Jota.

Pre preparing for the inevitable departures of Mane/ Salah makes total sense. Those 2 have a big move in them and will command big fee's, and as long as we've done our homework, the wheels of this great machine will continue turning without a hick up. That is proper team management / future proofing.
For the first time since the Barnes / Beardo days i don't mind who we sell or buy.

Or clever planning for the future? Jota 23 Sarr 22. Gives them a year or two. To integrate and take over from Firmino and Salah for argument sake. We would of course have to move on, Origi, Wilson, Brewster and Shaqiri in order to bring in Sarr aswell id imagine!

Yes, Sarr could be the eventual successor to either Mané or Salah. But he could also be the current replacement for Brewster, if all the noise about that is to be believed. Jota can be seen as the replacement for Shaqiri or Origi. I don't think there's any move for Mané or Salah this summer. But you never know. Selling before buying makes sense in these times, but I think they actually happen at the same time, with various deals partially on concurrently, until they're finalized.

It’s not shrewd when we have no money to buy another winger who will hardly play, sorry.

We also have Harvey Elliott who is a huge talent and should not be forgotten. If we have both and Jota, where exactly does Elliott figure?

If we have 40mil to spend, a forth CB makes much more sense in terms of squad depth.

Reports saying fee agreed with Watford, who knows, after Jota happened like it did. I'm not so sure spending 40 million on Sarr is a great idea at the moment but as always I'll trust in klopp.

If there is any truth to the Sarr rumours then it surely must mean either Mané or Salah’s exit this window.
The club have clearly stated the current financial constraints, and explained the legitimate reasons for them.
When you factor in the Jota purchase and the HG aspects a deal for Sarr makes no logical sense otherwise.

@Si B. It could be to just give Liverpool flexibility to sell an attacker in the future. It's so much easier to replace an outgoing player if he's already had a year to adjust to the way we play.

IF Sarr is coming in in addition to Jota, I'd expect either Salah or Mane to leave next season.

Also, let's say we've just sold Salah for £150m. Clubs would be wanting to pull our pants down over the fee for his replacement, knowing we'd just received a lot of money. If we get the replacement in a year in advance, that isn't a problem anymore.

fee/ wages etc was probably agreed but then jota was a better deal, so technically the papers are right but probably peddling old news.

I’m not saying Sarr is happening but if he did come in it wouldn’t necessarily have to mean the selling of Mane/ Salah.
We still have/ want to sell Shaq, Origi, Wilson.
The fees they raise would very likely cover the Sarr fee plus it would mean less competition for places for Sarr and Jota.

Personally speaking, I don’t see it happening.
