I have just read that a company is in negotiations with Liverpool owners to buy a 25% stake in Liverpool fc for $1.4 billion.
This is being reported by the financial Times.

Its to buy a 25% stake in the whole of FSG not just Liverpool. The potential investor is that Moneyball bloke Billy Beane.

That would make LFC value at €5.6 Billion. wouldn't think so.

{Ed002's Note - It is not directly related to Liverpool.}

As barakdee points out the rumored deal would be a minority stake in FSG, not LFC, which is quite a difference. If this actually happens, on one hand I would expect FSG to use some of the money to improve the Red Sox team, which has had a woeful system. On the other hand, if it boosts the coffers of our owners instead of saddling the club with debt like the Mancs it can only be a good thing. With no immediate end to C.V. in sight, stability is a major plus. I don't think this would mean we've hit the jackpot but I don't see it as en excuse for the tedious "yanks out" brigade to crawl out the woodwork.

Think it’s being reported FSG May go out and buy other smaller teams with the reported money, and now would be a great time as a lot of clubs are struggling, you’d pay knockdown prices to invest.

Correct me if I'm wrong Ed, there will a pressure at some level to issue dividend to shareholders and maintain profitability at group level in case of a reverse listing.

{Ed002's Note - There would be pressure to be more aggressive as investors which could mean investments that has seen significant growth already happen and then start to level off, sold and money put into investments that have better growth potential. Putting aside dividends, FSG could then start looking to a floatation in the US.}

Thank you Ed, that's what I thought. This will get interesting.
Spac route is great for FSG in terms of their investor's exit/ partial exit. Remains to be seen what it is like for Liverpool in the long run. Perhaps listing as you pointed out!

Kelleher won't be picked because he lacks experience. How can he get experience? I would rather he played than Adrian - perhaps then the rest of the team will give him more support by playing nearer the opposition goal than their own!
