Hi eds,

I recall one of you saying that if Liverpool would be looking to do a future transfer deal, it could be a buy now pay later deal similar to to Jota deal.

Does this mean selling clubs, have the upper hand with negotiations?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to balance the books like all clubs and taking on future debt is not a great idea right now when they will be suffering heavy losses. It would be better to sell players to make space in the squad and to raise funds.}

Do you see any possible outs in January?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I think Karius will return and go on loan again in January.

I think it cost Lfc an extra £10 million the way the deal was structured. Not a great idea long term.

Irish Rover, I sense a shift (perhaps a minor one) in the way FSG is thinking these days. Whereas we started buying young players (in the up to 23 years old group) in the beginning, with an eye to a future sell-on value, we're now looking at players in mid career like a Diego Carlos or a Thiago Alcantara (whom we bought) who can make an immediate impact (and damn the future sell-on value) . It tells you FSG wants immediate results and are more interested in the now, than they where before; which is not surprising given they own the club since 10 years. When you factor in Klopp's probable departure at the end of his contract, you also get a sense for the urgency in winning as much as possible as soon as possible. Which is all good, as far as I am concerned.

I'm not saying Jota is in mid career. He's clearly a player who will improve over time and provide a sell-on value. But he's higher profile and already has made a definite impact; the kind of player we would have shied away from in the past. We spent 2-3 years reading about how Klopp previously plucked away future super stars from lower teams (Lewandowski, Hummels, Gundogan etc, etc, ) but I haven't seen much of that happen at LFC (Salah, VVD, Ox, Wijnaldum were already established players) . He may have been given more time at Dortmund, but I sense that he has been told to push the pedal to the metal, now.
