Out of the front 3 ed who do you think is most likely to depart in the summer, If any?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think there is a most likely. But I do think the plan of Klopp will be to take the opportunity to do the rebuild before handing over to someone else and that will require a plan, and the funds to make it work and they need to come largely from sales.}

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Feb 2021 20:37:53
Interesting thanks ed002. Do you think klopp will have an input in who he hands over to.

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

17 Feb 2021 21:58:35
Surely Gerrard thinks the job is his.

17 Feb 2021 23:34:05
There are far better managers out there than Gerrard.

17 Feb 2021 23:45:09
Hey Alonso
I would love to know who these managers that are better than Gerrard and how you measure them?

{Ed0666's Note - do you really think that Gerrard should walk into the Liverpool job on the back of being successful in Scotland? I can list you at least 20 managers that are better than gerrard at the moment. And that’s without the help of Google. Please try and use logic before sentiment.

18 Feb 2021 00:04:04
I would think pep will be among fortrunners. I mean ljinders.

18 Feb 2021 02:10:09
Alonso, I do love Gerrard and he is a Club Legend. However, to assume that he can just take over from Klopp is wishful thinking. No doubt that Gerrard is showing his worth at Rangers but the Prem League is a different ball game. I wouldn't want our Club Legend to suffer the same fate as Lampard. Emulating Klopp is no easy task and as much as I wish Gerrard can do that, I just feel he needs to prove himself more before he takes over at LFC.

18 Feb 2021 02:35:19
Doesn't matter who among the front 3 has to depart.

Any club that has ambition has to pull out the stops to bring in either Mbappe or Haaland.

They look like they will dominate European club football for the next decade. A different class.

18 Feb 2021 00:37:21
That’s disrespectful to the countless top young managers applying their trade across Europe. Our very own Pep Ljinders for staters. Julian Nagelsmann as a glaring obvious but there are too many to list. Separate sentiment from the equation and do you think Gerrard even though he is doing well in Scotland has done enough to walk straight into the Liverpool job? That’s not to say he won't go onto become a fantastic manager in time but in my opinion it would be a mistake employing him right after Klopp.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree I would give the job to Ljinders. If he has the appetite. Because he’s a great coach doesn’t necessarily make him a great manager. He’s failed at being a manager in Holland already but has more experience now so let’s see. The guy has a high level footballing IQ and I truly hope he gets given the opportunity above anyone else. He also knows the club inside out.

18 Feb 2021 08:40:17
Thanks for the insights Eds, sounds like Ljinders would be a relatively good successor to Klopp. I would love Nagelsmann myself!

18 Feb 2021 08:41:19
Red67
Money no object and we have the pick of either Mbappe or Haaland. Who comes in?
JAG.

18 Feb 2021 09:15:31
Stevie Me for manager? No thanks, not until he has managed at a decent level and been successful first. The pub league up there is no benchmark.

18 Feb 2021 09:19:20
Langland are u serious about Gerrard and asking that question! I’ll scrape the bottom of the barrel here and give u a name who’s a better coach then him!
LAMPARD!
He had the balls to try the championship which is a slug fest! Let Stevie try it out there before he’s considering anything! SPL absolute tripe league give your head a wobble!
Gerrard doesn’t get near our team for a long time till he’s proven it be souness 2.

18 Feb 2021 09:34:39
I think Gerrard should take over from Klopp. The Scottish league/ coaching system has produced some of the best past and current coaches. His performance in domestic cups is questionable (like Klopp) but what he’s achieved in the League and Europe is unbelievable with Rangers’ finances. The scrutiny and expectation to win that comes from managing an Old Firm team sets a manager up for a job the magnitude of Liverpool.

Can watch Gerrard in action tonight against Antwerp, a team that beat Tottenham in the group stages.

18 Feb 2021 10:44:25
Its alright saying Gerrards doing it in a rubbish league. i'd actually agree with it. But when he went to Rangers could anyone see him winning the title in his second season and doing so well in Europe? i know i didnt, i understand the need to see him at a higher level but so far in his managment career he has accomplished everything he'd have wanted.

18 Feb 2021 14:03:59
Can't knock Gerrard for this season. He's doing more with Rangers than Brenda managed with Celtic. Getting to a European knock out stage with Championship rejects is not to be sniffed at.

18 Feb 2021 15:48:23
I don’t even want to think about Klopp leaving!
But Gerrard? No thanks! In my opinion that would be a step down and a step backwards for our Club.
We’ve got a few more seasons with Klopp yet and you never know . he may just change his mind and stay longer .

18 Feb 2021 16:44:48
There are some very disrespectful comments about the Scottish league on here, football does exist outside of England.
Gerrard has his team flying both domestically and in Europe. What more can he do up there? Another couple of seasons like this at Rangers and I would welcome him at Liverpool.
It's hilarious that people say Gerrard needs to prove himself whilst also saying Linders should get the job.

18 Feb 2021 18:06:28
Has Xabi Alonso gone in to management- I’ll be really interested to see how he does as a manager.

18 Feb 2021 18:22:16
Thunderbird disrespectful to the Scottish league it’s absolute muck! I’ve a load Scottish mates and they say the same! Same 2 teams winning league year in year out!
Yeah Gerrard has done well and I’m
Delighted for him for but no way till he proves himself in a proper league before he’s even considered! As I said the championship is a slug fest and no easy job!
So you can say disrespectful about the spl all u want it’s a farmers league!

18 Feb 2021 19:19:17
JAG,

Haaland.

His game is slightly less dependent on electrifying pace. And he appears to be an even deadlier finisher.

But Mbappe is more marketable. Which will be a factor.

18 Feb 2021 19:30:07
Same farmers league that we signed our greatest player from eh.

18 Feb 2021 22:00:54
What leagues aren't 'farmers' leagues Jay?

18 Feb 2021 19:57:16
Ed 666 your throw away comment of at least 20 managers better than Gerrard is just that with, no names and no clarification of how they are better than Gerrard.
There is just one thing though, they have to be likely to want to take the job.

{Ed0666's Note - it wasn’t a throwaway comment mate. But am not gonna type the name of 20 managers to qualify my opinion. Let’s just beg to differ.

18 Feb 2021 22:38:31
Not a fan for Gerrard to take over but if he does will in Europe it would definitely strengthen his case can't hype the Scottish league up but winning a Europa league with a Scottish team is different.

19 Feb 2021 08:24:00
I don’t mind the idea of Gerard being Liverpool manager just not our next manager. Probably the one after that. Late 2020’ early 30’s. Gives him more time to develop as a manager and gain experience. Would only be late 40’s by time he joined.
After klopp I would go for naglesman. He did well with Hoffenheim is doing well with RBL, plays a similar way to us at the money and has shown he’s flexible with tactics. With better quality players to work with (like we currently have) he’d be a great option to replace Klopp.

{Ed001's Note - Nagelsmann is a Bayern fan and would walk from any job for them. I would not want to appoint him for us until after he had been and done that, so he wouldn't be looking to go the moment there is a sniff from them. Marco Rose or Marcelo Gallardo look better bets for the end of Klopp's current deal. Maybe Adi Hutter or even Graham Potter would be other possibilities.}

19 Feb 2021 10:25:49
I like the look of Marco rose, has done well for Borussia M. So if he can does well at Borussia D. Then he’d be a serious candidate. Looks like he brings youth players through nicely and plays a good system and style of football.
Anyway, we have a few more years of klopp before we have to consider who replaces him!

19 Feb 2021 11:44:35
I don't think there's a cat in hells chance of Ljinders getting the Liverpool job.

19 Feb 2021 15:25:42
Apart from let’s just enjoy Klopp time whilst he’s here doing well. The next manager IMO should be graham potter. Unless someone switches on and snaps him before hand. Working miracles at Brighton who are an excellent team.

19 Feb 2021 11:06:25
Ed0666, I will take the hassle to come up with 20 managers who are currently better than Gerrard IN MY VIEW and at a smaller team than Liverpool.

1. Marco Rose (Glad Bach, moving to Dortmund)
2. Adi Hutter (Eintract Frankfurt)
3. Oliver Glasner (Wolfsburg)
4. Graham Potter (Brighton)
5. Ralph Hassenhuttl (Southampton)
6. Marcelo Gallardo (River Plate)
7. Eric ten Hag (Ajax)
8. Julian Stephane (Rennes)
9. Christopher Gautier (Lille)
10. Marcelino ( Bilbao)
11. Mendelibar (Eibar)
12. Simone Inzhaghi (Lazio)
13. Nuno Espirito Santo ( Wolves)
14. Julien Lopetegui ( Sevilla)
15. Jose Bordalas (Getafe)
16. Diego Martinez (Granada)
17. Urs Fischer ( Union Berlin)
18. Stephane Moulin (Angers)
19. Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds)
20. Gian Piero Gasperini (Atalanta)

There also other managers like Allegri, Sarri, Favre who achieved varying degrees of success.

langland

These are just off the top of my head. I am not saying Gerrard is a bad manager but he still has lots to learn and lots to prove as a manager. IF he wasn't a club hero you guys wouldn't even be having a discussion about him potentially replacing Klopp in the near future.

{Ed0666's Note - thanks deeps. You really need a life mate but I appreciate the effort. My washing needs doing if you’ve got a minute 🤪Oh by the way TJ gonna fight Uriah they reckon.

19 Feb 2021 21:53:43
Not many title winners there Deependra.

Maybe we should just take Ed0666 advice and agree to differ.

19 Feb 2021 17:07:54
Ed0666
As I said the list was off the top of my head; so I forgot the Golden Boy Julian Nagelsmann for example. Also can you actually name 20 managers let alone ones better than Gerrard;) . The rumour is your maths is so bad you can go higher than 5 like Nate Diaz.

Also I hope TJ gets his head kicked in. EPO Dillashaw can go to hell as far as I am concerned.

{Ed0666's Note - you’re so right my maths is awful but it’s better than you’re executive vice chairman’s, some of the checks that idiot has signed makes me Alan Turing mate. Not a dillashaw fan then? 😂

20 Feb 2021 04:50:54
langland

1. Marco Rose has won 2 Austrian leagues and 1 Austrian cup. He also won the Uefa youth league with the RB Salzburg youth team.

2. Adi Hutter has won 1 Austrian league and cup double with RBS and also wondering the Swiss Super League with Young Boys Bern.

3. Glasner no significant trophies won (yet)

4. Graham Potter won Swedish Cup and took Ostersunds to the Europa league.

5. Ralph got won the 2.Bundedliga and got promoted to the bundesliga with Ingolstadt and finished 2nd with RBL.

6. Gallardo has won 3 Argentinian cups, 1 Uruguayan league, 2 Copa Libertadores among others.

7. ten Hag has won 1 Dutch league and cup double and also took Ajax to the Champions league Semis.

8. Julian Stephan won the French cup with Rennes and took them to the Champs league group stages as well.

9. Christophe Galtier has won one French league cup with ASSE. Also his Lille side are top of the Ligue 1 table.

10. Marcelino has won 1 Copa del Rey with Valencia and recently won the Spanish super cup with Athletic Bilbao.

11. Mendelibar has no more honours to his name. He had however, managed to keep Eibar in the La Liga year in year out despite the small budgets and financial restrains due to the small size of the club.

12. Simone Inzaghi has 1 Coppa Italia and 2 Super cups to his name. Also he has restored Lazio as one of the top teams in Italy contending for a CL place year in year out.

13. Nuno has won 1 EFL championship with Wolves and also took them to Europa league quarter finals

14. Lopetegui won the Europa league last year and also the U21 Euros with Spain.

15. Bordalas won the Segunda division with Deportivo Alaves and thus git them promoted to La Liga, and also got Getafe promoted to la liga and then took them to Europa league.

16. Diego Martinez hasn't won any major trophies but his Granada side are currently leading the Europa League last 32 tie against Napoli 2_0.

17. Urs Fischer has 2 Swiss league titles and 1 Swiss cup.

18. Moulin has no major trophies till date.

19. Bielsa has won the Olympic gold, Efl Championship, Europa League runners up, Copa America runners up. Regardless of any titles, he is one of the top coaches of the past 25 years IMO.

20. Gasperini hasn't won major trophies but his achievements with Atalanta is quite miraculous.

So langland your points about most managers I listed not having won anything major is largely incorrect and ignorant.

Might I add Gerrard hasn't won anything just yet, as a manager.

Ed0666, now you can truly say I have no life😂.
And as far as Dillashaw is concerned I hope Faber can finally put him to sleep. He nearly got the 125lbs division cancelled via that EPO debacle.

{Ed0666's Note - You are giving Eds 001 a run for his money the ‘Nigel No Life’ mantle. In fact if ‘sad bastards’ was a sport in the Olympics the both of you would win gold and silver every four years. Deeps I know there’s a pandemic but get some fresh air mate 😂. By the way you’re gonna be surprised by Dillashaw this time round. He looks really menacing.

21 Feb 2021 06:02:39
Thank you for the new username suggestion Ed0666.
-Formely Deependra.

{Ed0666's Note - you’re welcome mate. Did you see any UFC tonight?

24 Feb 2021 18:05:50
Deependra
From your list I will accept the Dutch League title and the Copa Libertadore but the rest is all a pile of poo really.
Ignorant indeed.
And are you saying that you really do not think that Rangers have won the title this season?
Dutch top league winners have won the Champions League/ European Cup as have Scottish top league winners.
Don't remember any Austrian Teams, German second division, Spanish Division or English Championship teams winning the Champions League though.

{Ed077's Note - managers can only win the leagues and trophies they compete in. Scottish league nowadays is not much better than Swiss league or Austrian league considering teams from Switzerland and Austria get into the Champions league more regularly than Rangers or Celtic. And just give some credit for even coming up with those names.}
