Just curious ED01 and ED02; if you were at LFC who would you be looking to keep, move on, promote etc and buy over the Summer (given the likely reduced transfer pot) and given the crazy stats of shots taken to goals scored at Anfield, is this purely confidence driven or have our forwards peaked already? Thank you for your time and the excellent site.

{Ed002's Note - Possible departures before the start of next season:
Adrian (G) out of contract
Loris Karius (G) will be sold for whatever the club can get.
Yasser Larouci (LWB)
Kostas Tsimikas (LWB) The move to Liverpool has not worked out to be an easy transition for the player and we kow that talks have been held between his agent and Napoli, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos. I am not aware of any offers and the price could be a major problem for the Greek clubs. We will see what happens in the summer.
Marco Grujic (DM/CM) will be available.
Gini Wijnaldum (CM) His representatives say that Liverpool have not offered a suitable contract to him and he will leave if a new contract is not agreed. He has been offered to Barcelona again but Barcelona are dealing with other priorities but could still be interested in the player as a Free Agent. Inter Milan have asked his agent for an idea of what he would be asking - but he is not there first choice, although being a Free Agent makes him attractive to them. However, he has made a huge signing on and wage demand that the interest of Inter will have gone. My understanding from an ex-PL player who is involved with Barcelona that there was at least a verbal agreement in place between the parties before the election - if that is the case then lawyers will need to agree the formal pre-contract and everyone would need to sign it. If he asks too much Barcelona will walk away like Inter.
Naby Keita (CM) The player has been nothing but trouble since he first agreed the move and spent a final year at RBL. He has not adapted in England and has failed to perform consistently when given the chance. Liverpool need to cut their losses but it will be difficult to find a buyer at a reasonable price and not all countries would be willing to grant him a Work Permit.
Takumi Minamino (AM) Sevilla are keen to take Minamino to replace Vazquez.
Sheyi Ojo (RW) Championship fodder
Mo Salah (RW/F) Liverpool could cash in to fund transfers but there is no clear interest at this time after he and his agent pricing him out of a move with previous attempts to leave. His "representative" has again been doing the rounds this time also asking Bayern Munich and again PSG if they are interested. I suspect that Barcelona and Real Madrid may also have been approached again. Liverpool will likely look to a new contract but don't be surprised of an offer from PSG.
Sadio Mane (LW/RW) It is just possible RM could look to Mane as an option.
Xherdan Shaqiri (RW/AM)
Harry Wilson (RW)
Liam Miller (F) will likely be sold once he returns from Charlton
Taiwo Awoniyi (S) Doing pretty well in Germany and a buyer will be able to be found there at the right price.
Divock Origi (S) Cercle Brugge are looking to Origi if they cannot persuade Chelsea to sell Ike Ugbo to them in the summer.
Roberto Firmino (S) Liverpool will look to upgrade at some point whilst he still has value – perhaps in 2022.}

Great info Ed, it’s a shame that we are never able to bid for the very top players such as Haaland or Kane. Imagine Haaland in this Liverpool team, would take us up a couple of levels.

15 Apr 2021 13:22:14
Never able to bid for top players? What about Van Dijk and Allison, the owners have spent big money when needed and im sure they will again, just not on ridiculous fees for the likes of Kane.

15 Apr 2021 13:19:14
Really good insight Eds2. Salah I would still like to keep and would add the ox and Matip to the list plus Not take up the option of Kabak. Philips has proved his worth.

15 Apr 2021 13:47:52
Thanks for the update, Ed. Really appreciate all the info you provide.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

15 Apr 2021 13:52:38
Thanks a lot mate.

15 Apr 2021 12:40:19
Thanks v much ED02. Who do you personally think we should be looking to recruit?

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to that now. There will be a Sharkopod in a couple of weeks.}

15 Apr 2021 14:55:33
Were VVD and Allison being chased like Haaland et al? Can't recall but I don't think it was like that. despite us paying massive fees for them two, I think Champs point is that we're not typically in the market for the world's most sought after players.

15 Apr 2021 17:21:44
Oh I wasn't having a go at the lad just saying is not like Liverpool haven't spent big on top players. If the club did have £100m+ to spend I wouldn't blow it on a Haaland.

Cahmps2020 take us up a couple of levels?

Strange comment that as as far as I can remember, before this season 2 champions league finals winning one, a league title (first in 30 years), a super cup and a first world club cup we have won toppled with having a player that's on course for his 3rd golden boot in 4 seasons, the worlds most expensive defender ath the time, and a world record for a keeper? What other levels is there lol maybe have a rattle at the world cup and euro 2020 and throw lebron james in nets and ask tom brady to play the full back role lol.

ed001 what value would you put on Xherdan Shaqiri Divock Origi, Harry Wilson and Takumi Minamino. and what would you think the club will put on them.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, it is not really my area.}

16 Apr 2021 22:32:08
Yes I really do thin Haaland would take us up a couple of levels. 18 months ago we were a different proposition. Haaland is nearly a goal a game guarantee right now.

Awesome info Ed. Thanks! I feel like it is crucial the club starts moving out players this summer if they’re looking to seriously refresh the squad. Can’t keep adding players and not selling.

17 Apr 2021 10:38:11
ed002 would you have any clue on this what value would you put on Xherdan Shaqiri Divock Origi, Harry Wilson and Takumi Minamino. and what would you think the club will put on them.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the club will value the players at, but none are worth a great deal but might just raise enough money to pay off the debt taken on last summer on Jota and Thiago.

17 Apr 2021 13:38:23
I don’t k know why people keep thinking we’re in the discussion for Haaland. He’s got a £150m+ fee, he wants £500000 a week and the agents fees are over £30m. Forget him, he’s NEVER going to play for us.

I think there’s a long list of players to move on this summer.

Wijnaldum
Adrian

Karius
Matip
Keita
Mane
Wilson
Ojo
Awoniyi
Shaqiri
Grujic
Origi

I’m uncertain about selling Ox, as he could be useful if he’s fully recovered. But we should move all of those listed on.

17 Apr 2021 13:56:54
6times who is going to buy matip, after one bad season everybody seems to want Mane gone I think he will be back to his best soon.

17 Apr 2021 16:32:52
Sure Matip could be useful if he fully recovered also. Ox should be on the list too.

17 Apr 2021 20:00:09
I’m sure at the right price there’d be a buyer for Matip. But one thing is for sure, that for us, he cannot be relied upon as a squad member, and certainly not as a regular starter. Maybe a less physical league would be better for him? Set the price around the £10m and I’m sure there’d be some buyers.

Mane is 29, he’s not getting younger and he looks spent, we cannot afford to carry a player who is on the way down and given that we need to refresh the squad and we don’t have money to enable that (if we were skint last summer, it’s even worse this summer), the sensible thing to do is to sell a player likely to reach a very good price that won’t impact the team, regrettably that player should be Mane as his replacement is already here in the shape of Jota. Plain logic dictates that is the right choice.

{Ed0666's Note - if I were the one making the decision logic would decree we would have a major overhaul and plan to be contenders in two seasons.

18 Apr 2021 12:06:48
The point being that if Matip is on the list because of his injury record, which I agree with then the OX should be on it too? He is as equally unreliable as Matip and Keita imo.

18 Apr 2021 12:13:51
I think Ox should be added to the list too. He isn’t the player he was and doesn’t make an impact anymore or near the starting 11.
