Ed002, do you foresee Liverpool going back for Ismaila Sarr again this summer? Of the players Klopp reportedly likes he's my preference. Traore doesn't score enough, Dembele is seemingly trouble, and Sancho is extortionate.

I know we've tried to sign Sarr before but just wondering if we've moved on completely or if he's still under consideration. His agent has come out and said he had agreed personal terms with Liverpool, but that we couldn't afford Watford's payment terms.

{Ed002's Note - Ismaila Sarr (RW/LW/F) is possibly available regardless of Watford being promoted. Wolves have enquired after him - wanting to be kept informed just in case Adama Traore is sold. Crystal Palace have him on their list of potential Wilfried Zaha replacements, but he is not their first choice, although they could turn to him if their first-choice heads elsewhere (which he will). Liverpool are interested inasmuch as he is another player like Adama Traore that Klopp has had his tongue down the throat of, but whilst he would make a good replacement for Shaqiri consideration would need to be given to (a) would Sarr want to limit his playing time to that which Shaqiri gets, (b) he is not Home Grown, (c) he would block Harvey Elliott's progression, (d) he would cost £30M or thereabouts, and (e) like many players asked about, would depart for AFCON when it happens as he is Senegalese. I am not aware of any approach to Watford by Liverpool or Manchester United, but either club may have spoken with his agent. If Mane or Salah were to leave LIverpool, it makes a great deal more sense and would provide the funding. If Manchester United are done with Sancho it would be another option.}

let my man Harvey Play!

I'm with you Ed002. Only really makes sense if Mane or Salah leave. That way it wouldn't really hinder Elliott's chance of game time either. Thanks for the detailed reply.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Harvey Elliott has done far better in a poorer team in my opinion. Scored about half as many goals but created nearly three times the number of goals as Sarr for his team mates and doesn’t lose the ball as cheaply as Sarr does. Much like Traore, I don’t get the hype.

I haven't really watched Sarr 0lay. Would be interested in eds1 opinion on the player if possible? Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - quick and got good skill but he is extremely inconsistent, sometimes his touch is excellent, other times awful. He needs guiding.}

Thanks Ed. Dusan Vlahovic has been mentioned a few time today and the lad looks pretty decent in my opinion. Have you seen much of him? Young and good scoring record. Although I have no idea what standard the Italian league is up to these days.

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember watching him play at all. Ed77 was asking about him a few weeks back, so he is on the player profile list.}

Cheers. Have a good weekend mate.

{Ed077's Note - Vlahovic is a very good prospect in my eyes. I have been very impressed with him, every time I've watched him play.

To be fair 6times, Sarr has 10 assists and Elliott has 11. I can't profess to having seen every one of those credited assists though. Sometimes it can be a 2 yard pass to someone else who beats 5 players and chips the keeper! On the face of it though, Sarr has 13 goals and 10 assists, to Elliott's 6 goals and 11 assists.

I would also argue they're not strictly the same players. Elliott looks likely to end up as a No.10 to me, whereas Sarr has played as a centre forward for Watford a few times this season and is a more natural goalscorer. I don't think they'd struggle to play together, is what i'm getting at. If i was a betting man, i'd have money on Traore or Sarr joining this summer though. If it had to be one or the other, Sarr would be my reluctant preference.

MK mate, according to whoscored Sarr had only directly assisted 4 goals and scored goals as opposed to Elliott who’d assisted 11 and scored 6. The thing I’ve not been impressed by Sarr when I’ve seen him is he’s so inconsistent

Transfermarkt says 10 assists but i think they give an assist for winning a free kick/ penalty concerted by another player. There is probably not a lot between them. Elliott is creative and Sarr is more of a goal scorer. I am not overly impressed with Sarr either. He always looks a bit out of control of the ball when he runs with it like Zaha or Werner. Sounds like Klopp has a genuine interest nonetheless.

{Ed001's Note - we tried to sign him in the summer before turning to Jota when we couldn't agree a deal. So Klopp defo likes Sarr.}

Think we need to stay away from AFCON bound players. We'd potentially lose Konate, Bissouma, Sarr, Mane, Salah. I'd add Keita too but.

{Ed0666's Note - if Bissouma wanted to come to Liverpool it would be dumb not to purchase him just because he’s gonna go to the AFCON. Jones could deputise no?

30 Apr 2021 15:54:50
Thanks Ed77. I think he looks a good prospect. Not sure on Sarr tbh. Daka is my personal fav.

30 Apr 2021 17:36:28
I'll rephrase: maybe stay away from Sarr and bring in a non AFCON forward. Midfield we have options up front not so much.

30 Apr 2021 17:46:32
Jota has already paid for himself! Tammy a consideration?

30 Apr 2021 18:05:53
Ed001, do you think the Watford owner would even do business after that stuff at Udinese with Zielinski? I’m pretty sure he’s as good as said he’d rather sell for less to
Someone else than do any business with us?

I definitely get the same impression of Sarr when I’ve seen him, like if something happens, it’s not entirely because he meant it.

{Ed001's Note - the Pozzos will do business for the right price, but the price would be high.}

30 Apr 2021 18:48:05
Why would the club lose Konate for the AFCON? Isn't he French? And has to sign yet.

30 Apr 2021 19:04:39
Mane i stand corrected. My point is another attacker like Sarr coming in and that's 3 front players to AFCON.

01 May 2021 14:30:46
Redflyer, so we should not sign boss players cos they are going to the AFCON? Should that apply to boss players from South America due to the Copa America as well with both tournaments happening in the summer off season? So should City not have signed Yaya and Kolo Toure then? I don’t understand such thinking and frankly, I never have.

{Ed002's Note - AFCON is in January and February 2022. That is not the off season nor the summer. Try being less obnoxious and perhaps your posts won't keep detting deleted.}

02 May 2021 00:41:17
Thx 002.

02 May 2021 00:46:08
2/ 3 of our goal output leaving for AFCON in Jan for up to 4-6 weeks. It would be 3/ 5 if we sign another African born player. One injury and we'd be up the creek wout a paddle.

{Ed0666's Note - let’s hope we can sign the right players irrespective of their nationality after all we’re signing them for 3-5 years ideally
