So we don't want to give hendo a contract now. If i say something on this, with regards to the american ownership, id be termed xenophobic.
This shouldn't even have been news. Hendo doesn't even need to ask for it, he deserves whatever deal he wants and am pretty sure he isn't asking for the moon and stars.

{Ed025's Note - he still has 2 years to go Akira so there is no rush, he will be at liverpool for a good while yet mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Well maybe go read first, no one is saying we don't want to give hendo a contract, talks started awhile ago and no conclusion yet, he's still 2 years left on his current deal so there's also no rush. Nowhere has any report said we don't want to give him a contract. Not like Liverpool fans to jump the gun or have no patience now is it. holy christ.

Or maybe FSG aren't the ones who decide whether or not to hand out new contracts to the players? The owners have done plenty wrong in there time here but these baseless digs feel more like you wanting to have a go at the ownership instead of any substantial criticism.

19 Jul 2021 17:14:11
Have you read the article? It's speculative fluff with loads of 'coulds' and 'possibles' in it and parallels drawn to Wijnaldum (despite the fact that Hendo already has a contract until he's 33 whilst Gini's ended when he was 30.Suggesting the club views Hendo differently) .

If you joined the #FSGout crowd on Twitter over this, I wouldn't accuse you of being xenophobic, I'd accuse you of being a twit.

Plenty of things with which to take issue with FSG without going at them over absolutely nothing.

I posted about these earlier and I said I love Henderson I hope he stays as long as possible but I don’t think we should offer him a contract these summer we should see how he goes over the next 18 months. Last season Henderson was injured for 12 weeks and the season before 10 weeks and if this carries on it would be very silly of the club to give him a longer contract and tie up wage budget on a player as he enters the final part of his career and starts to miss more than he plays. The club needs to be run with a head and not a heart Bob paisley was very ruthless in that way and that’s what kept us at the top and Fergy was the same at Utd.

{Ed025's Note - i think hes important in the dressing room grino and even when he finishes i expect him to still be part of the furniture mate, he could still play on past his contract on a lower wage or even pay as you play basis, there are options i feel..

It's comical how people can interpret an article like that into sold fact that is definitely happening.
Even after all the years of people acknowledging crap on Tw@tter and clickbait sites, they're still gullible enough to believe the crap they read.

Loyalty is over rated. IF Hendo can carry on like Milner the sure, and if not, in two years time perhaps he can make his long awaited move to Fulham.

19 Jul 2021 17:33:17
Don't get all jumpy on this news. It's probably sensationalised to get attention. If we can keep Milner who is 35, I'm pretty sure we can keep Hendo if his demands are reasonable. So, I'm confident we'll get things sorted out in the near future.

Please read the other posts (both Rumours and Banter) about this, Harry.

If true, isn’t this a dream come true for you mr. sideways Henderson!

19 Jul 2021 19:20:25
I agree how important he is ed025 I hope he stays fit and in the team am just saying with his injury record there is no rush to renew his contract. Let him carry on with his contract for at least this season to check his injuries out if he stays fit most of the season then give him a new deal but if he keeps getting long injuries then some sort of pay as you play deal can be sorted out if not let him play his final year out at let him have a free transfer to get a good deal somewhere else but missing 10 and 12 weeks a season is to much if it carries on.
We could have sold Origi after the champions league victory and got a good fee for him more than what he was worth as his value had gone up after a few important goals but instead we ran the club with are heart and give him a new contract and he has hardly played his value has gone down by at least half.

If Liverpool were reluctant to give Gini Wijnaldum a big new deal, and he played every single game, it’s not a huge shock that they’re in a similar boat with an often-injured Jordan Henderson.

19 Jul 2021 20:16:33
Plus Henderson is only on £140k/ w. It’ll likely be one of his last contracts and he could probs get double if not a bit more elsewhere.

19 Jul 2021 20:42:16
It’s Klopp who didn’t want to keep Gini.

19 Jul 2021 21:19:00
@fuser, Hendo would not get £300k a week somewhere else. He's got 2 years left on his contract, he's not a free transfer where clubs pay higher wages as they don't have to pay a transfer fee.

@markp, Klopp wanted to keep Gini, 100%.

19 Jul 2021 22:17:09
Sean, Klopp tried to sell Gini 2 years ago. If Klopp wanted Gini he would have stayed.

19 Jul 2021 18:11:38
If we are signing 5 of our best players to contracts leading them into age 33-34
We are hoping for more than a little luck

5 players + a 35 year old Henderson on > £10m a year contracts

Peak title winning age is 27-28.

{Ed025's Note - age is just a number spaceman, these days players, even the more experienced ones are as fit as butchers dogs mate..

20 Jul 2021 07:05:55
@seanireland, Henderson is definitely in the same bracket of player as Kante/ Saul etc and they are and have been for years on contracts of 300k. Hendo’s age is now against him slightly but you can’t say if Utd/ PSG/ Real/ etc signed him tomorrow he wouldn’t be on 200-250 at least.

21 Jul 2021 20:33:57
@fuser, you said double £140k or more in your post. Now you are dropping to a more realistic £200k which is fair enough, I could definitely see that.

@markp, in my opinion Klopp really liked Gini and wanted to keep him. I believe he understood the clubs reluctance to commit to a big wage and a long-term contract from a business sense but I think he would have preferred to have kept him. In terms of trying to sell him 2 years ago I presume that's Keita replacing him - Gini played almost every minute the season just gone and Keita was barely used when available.
