Ed002 what's happening with jones to villa 15 million.

{Ed002's Note - RTP}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2021 18:56:20
£15m would be poor.

{Ed0666's Note - you can’t look a gift horse in the mouth. We are super skint and 15 million looks like a kings ransom right now. Will it happen who knows? Would you say no if it meant two players came in before deadline day?

29 Aug 2021 19:03:24
It only makes sense if we have a buy back clause. Other than that it could be a big mistake if he really kicks on.

29 Aug 2021 19:28:23
I probably wouldn’t say no if it meant we got 2 in before the window shuts, but it’s more plausible he gets sold and no one comes in at all lol.

29 Aug 2021 19:32:47
I would rather keep Jones and sign one player. Klopp is trying to win the league with both hands tied behind his back. FSG better be very careful as failing to invest properly in the team with only see their investment decline.

{Ed0666's Note - he may not sell Jones, it could all be hearsay we may not making any signings…watch this space! On second thoughts you’re probably better off watching the BBC or Sky sports but you know what I mean

29 Aug 2021 19:47:57
Why are we super skint?

{Ed025's Note - because you have bought super expensive players, paid super expensive super agents super fees, and you pay super duper wages..

29 Aug 2021 19:56:39
Since Klopp has been here I would take a guess we have spent less than our rivals and even Everton.

{Ed025's Note - your probably right mark, so it beggars the question...why cant you afford any new players and why are you in so much debt? is it mismanagement, is it dodgy dealings or is it the wages and fees you are paying that has got you in this financial mess?....answers on a postcard please..

29 Aug 2021 20:48:41
I agree with agents fee Ed 25 but we’ve also won stuff you can only dream of. wages are a coefficient of price sooner it’s capped the better.

{Ed025's Note - yeah i agree marshy, i dont claim to know how these work financially but a club of liverpools stature should not be poorer than the old church mouse mate..

29 Aug 2021 20:57:57
if we are skint what i don't understand is why have we signed all these players to new contracts for the future when we don't have any money surely we would be better spending on new fresh players as a lot of our midfielders are either very old or injury prone.

29 Aug 2021 21:13:12
A top local talent should not be having to be sacrificed to make signings. If this is true it is just wrong. Sends out a terrible message aswell to the kids in the academy.

29 Aug 2021 21:22:42
We have signed the players to new contracts for a couple or reasons. The financial reasons being that it prevents them running down their contracts, and more importantly it resets the contract value, meaning that their book value increases and the balance sheet improves, so rather than having amortisation costs of say £100m, you have a roughly £0 or potentially positive value associated with them.

29 Aug 2021 21:20:10
Imagine if we didn’t win the league and champions league, finish top 4 for 4/ 5 seasons and secured a record Nike sponsorship deal.
We’d be selling VVD Salah Alisson etc just to pay the electricity bill for the floodlights. We better Get our act together and win the league this season just to stay afloat.

29 Aug 2021 21:32:09
Nath, we have done great business tying down Robbo, Trent, Allison, VVD etc we couldn’t afford to buy them now.

29 Aug 2021 21:47:45
Jones, Elliot and Trent are the future. No way we should be even contemplating letting Jones leave for only £15 million. Our issue is that our squad is aging, letting our young players leave would make no sense and we wouldn’t get a better player than Joes for 15 million. Harry Wilson went for 12/ 13!

29 Aug 2021 22:01:13
Liverpools wage bill has, I believe went up circa £100 million in 4/ 5 years. That is a hell of alot, if I'm right?

29 Aug 2021 22:00:24
Ed025 we have paid a lot in agent fees but the that is not why we are skint are owners don’t put money into the club with the money for the new stand new training ground and to cover the costs from when the owners first took over. They was never going to put money in just for the out of there pocket that’s not what they do.
But they have done a great job from where the club was till now in the time they have been there. I think to many fans are are forgetting what a state we was in.
We still have one of the best teams in the world and over the past 3 season I think only city have stopped us from dominating because of the money pumped into them but that is not a normal it’s only City Chelsea and PSG that had happened to.

29 Aug 2021 22:13:28
Yes Irish mate and that’s why Mr Edwards is getting a statue outside the ground.

29 Aug 2021 22:15:48
ED025
We are skint coz we don’t have a penny and money goes to the investors in terms of dividend. The club works like a rolling chain business. You eat only if you work. The club has zero cash reserves. Plus FSG doesn’t want to put a penny in advance for the club to sign and recoup later.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know much about the finances RB but i would find that hard to believe as a business model mate..

29 Aug 2021 22:38:04
The differences in finishing 1st or 3rd in the League money wise isn't that much LiverpoolFC8. So winning it isn't that necessary in regards to staying afloat.

29 Aug 2021 22:56:00
Our wage bill has gone up by about £60m over the last 5 years.

Yes we’ve taken on debt, but some is interest free and it’s all gone into improvements like the stadium, training facilities, academy, etc. Dividends to the owners is minuscule in comparison to the likes of MU.

Generally speaking our financial constraints are a result of the infrastructure improvements, squad costs (player and agent fees), and the structure of payments. Yes we need to sell to buy, but we have had success we could only have dreamed of 10 years ago, and we have a squad to be proud of that is still one of, if not the best in the league.

29 Aug 2021 23:49:35
Let's be honest we aren't skint. FSG paid £300 million for us. We are now worth 1.7billion. Okay they have invested but that investment won our first premier league and our 6th champions league.

We have continued to get the the later stages of the champions league, we have our best and highest ever contracts with sponsors and nike, but arguably the highest ever wage and agents bill. However, the win at this game you need continued investment or you get left behind. Our net spend is next to nothing in modern day football and we are a well known global team.

I thank FSG for buying us from the brink of implosion, but with recent investment from red bird they may need to consider dipping into their pockets. Yes we all need to play to FPP rules, but we all know that there are loop holes like Citeh building and getting Eitihad to sponsor a bridge for £300million.

{Ed0666's Note - FSG don’t put in and they don’t take out. It’s a self sustaining model and their dividends will come when they sell. If that’s unpalatable for us fans well that’s tough titties as Sheila from wild wild country would say.

30 Aug 2021 00:15:53
we are skint because we have spent loads on salary, agent fees and then had a massive reduction in income due to C.V.. and then we've had a HG issue that has limited some of the transfer activity.

30 Aug 2021 06:12:53
ED0666

How can you say FSG don’t take out? If they are investors then the money is paid every year in terms of dividend. You really think in the last 7 years they haven’t had a penny from the club 😅😅. We had profit over the years and where did that go?

{Ed0666's Note - I mean they don’t take Glazer like money out of the club .

30 Aug 2021 06:21:43
Rocky, do you look at the accounts of just talking nonsense? This is the sort of comment that gets people fired up and saying FSG out for no reason. FSG have not taken any dividends out of the club, and have been investing via loans to LFC to rebuild the stands/ improve the squad.

As said by many above, we’re skint because we invested massively in the squad and now have substantial wages etc., coupled with the impact of C.V., leading to a substantial fall in revenues like every other club.

We still have a top squad IMO and so saving on transfer fees to build up a reserve for when Salah/ Mane/ Hendo need replacing is sensible.

30 Aug 2021 07:36:26
Partially correct on the loan part SG. We are skint coz we run on a hand-to-mouth model. We anticipate our income and commit accordingly. Meaning we don't have cash or profit in hand to use when it doesn't arrive. The loans on the main stand and training complex have been paid. and they are not completely interest-free either.
Now, look at Arsenal. They are dead skint. but the owners have made money available today to make signings. They have until 2022 to raise cash to avoid fines or they take a hit.
We aren't spending coz the club has none and the investors's aren't putting a penny as an advance payment to facilitate spending.

30 Aug 2021 08:56:40
Rocky, I guess we were just lucky that the pixies decided to build the state of the art training centre and give it to Liverpool FC for fee eh?

And if the Leprechauns turning up to make the improvements to the ground - now that was a real bonus eh? If the owners had needed to pay for that it would have cost millions.

Probably best not to make sweeping statements about finances and to assume that opinion is fact.

30 Aug 2021 09:16:15
Anyone else think this FSG bashing is reminiscent of Life of Brian's what have the Romans ever done for us sketch.

Shiny new stand, ground broken on another

Shiny new training complex

World's most expensive goalie

World's most expensive defender

A starting 11 most people rate as one of the best in world football.

{Ed025's Note - you are all being very harsh on FSG imo IDLLK, like kids who wanted a shiny new toy for christmas but ended up with a pair of corrective shoes, you have a very good team and a decent squad so buying for the sake of it makes no sense..

30 Aug 2021 10:25:11
People are just worried about our rovals because they are insecure. And fair enough, that insecurity has been fertilized by 30 years of failure in the league.

I'm a believer, not blindly, bit faithfully in Klopp the owerns and the squad. I couldn't care less about other clun's spending as far as I'm concerned they all have massive faps to fill. We can add for security but there is no guarantee it will actually benefot the squad. We're in an unfortunate position due to CV and perhapd Michael Edwards isn't the zen master we all think he is given our massive spending on wages etc although I could have that wrong lol but anyways, we have an elite squad rhat can win trophies this year and I look forwsrd to being one of the few who celebrated the highs and lows all season long back the lads 100%.

Lesssgoooooooo.

30 Aug 2021 10:26:45
Only one person on here that I’d take any notice of when it comes to finances - that’s Ed002….

Sorry Balboa

Yes we might not be able to afford any more players this season and of course I’d like to see the likes of Bissouma or and a wide player, but we have a decent team.

Do we want to be labelled as cheats like city? I mean, they can’t even fill their stadium, even though they practically have two first teams!

Do we want to be labelled plastic? Look at Chelsea, loads of dosh through Roman - I’ve been to stamford bridge on a number of European nights, plastic flags to wave on every seat in the home end, they were nothing for 50 years as the kop banner states.

United, a number on the stock exchange! A PLC, not a football club

I’ve seen us through the Moore’s era, no way did we spend like we have done over the last few seasons, transfer fees or wages - hence no league title for 30 years….

Then we have the stadium, great new main stand ( hospitality is second to none ) annie road being developed, new training ground - yes we know how it’s been funded, at least it’s being done!

I think the last few transfer windows haven’t been too shabby - Jota, Tomiskas ( looks a bargain ) Thiago and Konate - like I said earlier would love bissouma but if we don’t we don’t.

30 Aug 2021 11:28:19
I want to be labelled as winners Drogie. As the great man once said “football is about winning” and the other great man said “first is first and second is no where”. No one cares at the end of the season who filled the stadiums, who took on debt, who did a questionable deal. Winning the pl is all that matters.

30 Aug 2021 10:17:09
Sorry eds025 I didn't make myself clear, FSG are the best thing to happen to this club.

Could something better have happened, of course, but they saved us from going under and have invested in our future and when the time comes they will sell us and make a tidy profit, its a business at the end of the day all good.

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate i dont think you can have any complaints IDLLK, you were very near the precipice not so long ago and fsg rode in on a white charger to rescue the club, your right it is a business and im sure they will get their rewards in the end but thats the chance they took so good luck to them..

30 Aug 2021 12:25:29
Rocky Balboa, no matter how much you try to make such a ridiculous comparison, FSG are not like the Glazers and will NEVER be like them. Cheers.

30 Aug 2021 12:54:29
We all want to be winners Mark do we not? Amd we all know what shankley and Paisley have said.
I don’t want be labelled supporting a team in circumstances I mentioned above.

Ironically enough, we have been turned into PL winners under FSG unlike previous owners - another point I have strong views on.

30 Aug 2021 17:31:03
I take it Rocky is Harry's new username? Why can he not just go back to Harry Scouser (I think it was)?

30 Aug 2021 17:35:46
Are you saying you would stop supporting the club if we were bought bey questionable owners? Or you wouldn’t celebrate if we got new owners who put debt on the club but we were successful year on year?

30 Aug 2021 23:07:54
Well if I’m honest I love FSG the first owners that brought us Klopp and the team of magicians that won the premier league easily. So we didn’t beat Chelsea who cares it not like they are a terrible team. This season the boys will be back. As soon as they think big Virgil will cover us they will be back scoring fir fun. If your getting upset that we aren’t signing anyone go support Arsenal they have spent loads money. Good night you miserable bar stewards.

30 Aug 2021 23:39:11
First of all, getting new players is a treat a plus on the team we have. I remember a time when having one of the world's best in your defense, midfield, and attack was a feat. Have Liverpool supporters forgot when we had Paulson, Konchesky and Jovanovic. When the club was days away from administration and with the point deduction we would have possibly been relegated to the Championship. FSG have bought in players who are the best in the world at their position and what they do. On top of it this summer they gave them all contracts to keep them tied down for the future. However all LFC supporters complain about is the Twitter twat rumour. FSG does dictate the daily runnings of the club or we sign. Stop blaming them, they are attempting to make the club self sustainable. They have upgraded the stadium, training facilities, signed huge kit and sponsorship deals. Done everything to make the club competitive. They are thinking about the next season, but most LFC supporters think about only this season.

If you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win - Bill Shankly.
