I think it's 50/ 50 as to whether he goes or not Ed0666. For all the reasons he may have to leave, I think there are as many compelling reasons for him to stay. He's made his name with this group, the group functions around his scoring ability, and he shows every sign that he's one of the big (if not the biggest) fish in this pond. Even he is smart enough to know that this is not guaranteed at any of the French, Spanish or German clubs he may be considering. There are other reasons, of course (money, new adventure, new titles etc etc), but this one i have cited is not mentioned enough.

{Ed0666's Note - I want him to stay so much I really do. But I also understand his need to leave from what my Egyptian friends in the media tell me surpass the usual reasons. Also I can appreciate if FSG don’t want an Ozil situation with Salah. Maybe Salah is not the player he was at 33/34 no sell on value and paying him circa 300k a week. We have to think clubs future before any sentiment for a player. I’m fully expecting a lot of slack for this post but I’m feeling really bullish today so bring it on 😂

Ed0666, I sincerely hope Salah stays, as I can’t see how we realistically replace him. The bloke is absolutely bonafide world class and the best winger to play for us since John Barnes, if what you say comes true then that will actually be a disastrous transfer window as opposed to a quiet one.

I genuinely can’t think of one winger, or even a forward, who is in our price range even remotely capable of bagging 20 goals a season (and before people say anything about Salah’s antecedents before joining us, he was banging then in at Roma and looked like he could step up), the likes of Mbappe and Haaland aren’t worth discussing as we can’t afford the wages or the related fees. I fear we’ll go back for Doku or Traore, both of whom are incapable of scoring goals in any great numbers.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m under the impression he won’t sign a contract that’s just my opinion and I hope I’m wrong. Again I have no evidence of this. I truly wake up to the news someday soon he signing new terms I really do because the guy is a magician on his day, literally in that 2nd Tier of elite footballers. Tier 1 being Ronaldo and Messi. I just don’t want us to give him 3 years and not 5.

Salah doesn’t have an ounce of body fat, he looks after himself extremely well and I don’t think he’s overly reliant on pace. I think come 33/ 34/ 35 he’ll be well able to play as a striker and still deliver same way Ronaldo does. My only worry is I think Liverpool are happy enough to challenge for top honours. Salah seems the type who’d want to be at a club who sets out to win the title or CL and anything else is failure. He doesn’t have many medals for a player of his ability at his age.

Have to agree with ED on this, I do think this will be his last season with us. Salah will be off and I think PSG will take him. I just hope PSG get big money for Mbappe and pay us big money for Salah as I think we really do need to strengthen in midfield and up front next window.

Ps, always lovely to hear from the ED’s and there has been some comedy gold on here recently from the fans - keep it up and keep being nice to our great ED’s!

Ed0666, I'm not a cynic, but I do like to think I function with a good dose of realism. Suarez and Coutinho reconfirmed a good lesson. Even after signing new contracts, they waltzed off into the night with a new partner. As Ed002 always says, "footballers are transient employees". Realism. 🤷.

{Ed0666's Note - if he signs an extension I really do believe we’ll have him for life. Just my opinion. I don’t see anyone paying a fee and astronomical wages at 31/32 years of age for him. Again I could be wrong mate.
