ED002,

Can you please provide a recent update on Adeyemi. Have noticed reports are getting stronger with Liverpool being linked to him.
Will he be going to Borussia Dortmund?

I assume if either Mane or Salah leave he will fit in with our rebuild, top talent.

Thanks

Tommy T.

{Ed002's Note - Karim Adeyemi (S) Interest from several sides who have been watching including Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool. His agent previously said eventually a move to RBL was planned and I would expect him to be playing in Germany next season, but not for RBL or Bayern Munich, but for Borussia Dortmund who are losing Haaland and are negotiating a fee with RBS. Interest of PSG shifted elsewhere and the player is not interested in either Juventus or Sevilla who also made approaches. There was a discussion with Chelsea but that went nowhere. Borussia Dortmund - he is their preferred option over others they have short-listed and it seems likely that is where he will end up.}

Much appreciated as always.

I think Liverpool have got to the stage where they only need to add one maybe two players per season.

Before the start of next season, the club will have 9 players out of 25 who will be 30 years old or more (Van Dijk, Matip, Thiago, Henderson, Mane, Salah, Firmino, Adrian and Milner) . I think only 3 or 4 (at the most) will still be at the club in 2 years time. Assuming the others in the squad still maintain their quality, we will still need more than 1 or 2 new players per year.

We're at a level where we are competing in 4 competitions per year and we need to continue fostering competition for places. We have the 4th highest average age in the EPL, and all our competitors in the top 6 are younger. Not to mention that our style of play requires both pace and stamina, and we can't afford to have the effects of age set in suddenly. The next group has to be built up from now.

Totally agree aray
I think the midfield is the priority to get bodies in
Age gap drops from 29 to 22 in midfield maybe a player or 2 around 24/ 25 to help the younger lads transition gradually in to the midfield rather than being thrown in and help the older lads have a rest in between games . The increase in games per season basically means you need 2 players in every position and a youthful prospect is the 3rd choice . Only my opinion but the more games = more players in squads . I do feel that the 5 sub rule will benefit us as we can introduce Elliot and Jones more in that midfield.

Three centre mids named in the above over 30 list but also there's Jones and Elliott who can't get a look in. These young players will hopefully get even better and be able to step up as the older midfielders start to decline. Adrian can certainly be replaced from within and even Matip can eventually be replaced by Van Den Berg if he proves up to the job. I agree with the poster who said L'pool should be only signing one or two top quality players every summer while also making use of the academy.

I don't see a long term fit for Jones, other than as a rotation player. He may well want to play more under his old mentor Stevie G. 50m for him and Gomez.
I see Real are eyeing up Bellingham as Edwards first signing. I hope he does not go there.

Start with Rice IMO.

Jones hard to call! could well be sold but equally could be here for years! So young, i would say he's showed more than Hendo had at the same age and we know how he turned out.

Hope he stays. I remember him marking KDB in the first City game and completely nullifying him. The best I'd seen him play defensive football and still really young.
