Hey Ed's loving this end of season playing every 3/ 4 days and every game means something regardless of if we win 4 trophies or just the 1 it's great being in the mix. I'd love 1 of the big ones if I'm honest tho

What are the positions we are looking at for the summer am I correct in saying midfield is the priority
Followed by right full back and another attacker to fill the shoes of divo and taki (is this carvalho )

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will need RB cover, an addition in midfield, RW cover as TM and AOC will likely leave. If there are major departures then perhaps more.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Calvin Ramsay would get a great apprenticeship at LFC, and if he is joining, Gomez must be doing the off, which is a shame as he has looked very good in the RB position of late.
Taki would be best served moving to a less physical league, and is surely worth 15m.
Ox-thanks for the memories, but his time is done with the reds. 25m though please.
Naby-a year left to prove he can be consistent, Milner, one more year max before a coaching role beckons imo.

Could these be solved with Neco comming back to cover RB and Elliott for RW cover? Do you think the addition for midfield will be Carvalho, or could someone in the lines of Tchouameni be a possiblitiy? Are they looking for a versatile midfielder or a 10, 8 or 6?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Neco Williams to leave. Elliott can provide cover on the wing but with Salah his opportunities will be limited and if Salah leaves he will be replaced. They will be looking for another midfield player other than Carvalho, ideally someone versatile.}

Ramsay would be excellent and for £3 million it’s a no brainier!

02 May 2022 15:59:13
We won't sell Ox, we will ask for too much and end up keeping him till he's gone for free. Just my prediction there of course. Signing Ramsay would be a big kick in the nuts for that young lad Bradley is it? He hasn’t put a foot wrong, nor has Gomez who I would much prefer to stay, even another year of Milner who is adequate emergency RB. I wouldn’t feel comfortable if the next RB option is a young guy who has only played in low pressure low quality scottish league, especially when we have given chances to someone who is already here and done fine. The total costs of bringing him here to play a bit part for a couple years whilst unable to displace Trent would surely be better spent elsewhere? Maybe it does mean Gomez is a player we feel we will sell to get some good money in but even then we would need a more proven back up RB, just my opinion of course, let's hope the club are proved right again!

Bradley could likely do with a loan . Ramsay would be coming to be turned into a top player/ profit, like tsimi, who surely will eventually move on at a huge profit. In the mean time he gets a world class education .

02 May 2022 18:39:25
Ramsay is a better player at 18 so why would it be a kick in the nuts?

02 May 2022 22:20:58
If ox and origi leaves this year, we’re basically missing 5/ 10 games a season. With 5 forwards vying for 3 spots, all of whom are class, then there is limited space. Then midfield of Thiago hendo Milner Keita fabinho Elliot and Jones - sounds enough on paper.

However with Milner barely playing until recently, and seemingly klopp not feeling ready to trust Elliot or Jones in the biggest games, I have a feeling one may go out on loan - I’d pick Jones myself (with the idea that he does come back into the picture when Milner goes) . That gives space for me for one creative midfielder, who can play in a theee or wide forward if needed (like ox) with Milner Henderson and most of the traditional 3 getting on, it should be a young gun, hopefully.

Rb cover - Gomez has done well for me, and adds a more defensively assured option than Trent - and of course can play cb when needed.
Given we are playing twice a week, and minamino hasn’t even got on, not sure he even does need replacing. Having a deep squad but not overstacked gives opportunities for the youth to step in.

Cheers Ed
Surely if Leeds are relegated raphinha for the right wing cover would make the most sense . Left footed knows the league has pace and can improve further seems like an lfc signing .
Aoc needs to go he’s a top lad and great player and character but not what we need now in the squad I feel we need a more defensive midfielder over any other type unless klopps comments on Henderson in the 6 position from the weekend is the way we are going next season?
Exciting times .
If mason mount was available I’d be all over that deal as I think he could bring that link from midfield to attack we sometimes lack when playing against the low block.

{Ed002's Note - Raphinha is unrelated to Leeds being relegated.}

On the subject of RB / RCB and assuming Neco is off two things

Wouldn’t we want to see if Joe wants to stay and if Sepp Van den Berg goes well in pre-season. Potentially we will have Trent, Sepp and young Bradley to play on the right side if defence with Joe and Sepp also covering the right centre back position and Trent, Sepp and perhaps Bradley to play in a more forward right wing back role as required?

Secondly why would Ramsey have any different career path than Neco? I’ve never watched the lad play so can’t say for certain but he would have to be extremely special to shift Trent from the starting spot. Whilst it might be nice for us to have another promising option it might not best serve the career of the young lad. And, with due respect to the Scottish premier league it isn’t quite up to the standard of the English PL, so perhaps reports of the lad’s abilities might be a bit ‘rose tinted’ - not saying that’s definitely the case, just that it might be.

I’d also say I’m not a scout / talent spotter either so it’s possible that I might be talking out of my posterior 😁.

From what i've seen of Bradley he desperately needs a loan to get the game time to be decent cover. His reading of the game is poor and he tends to neglect the defensive side of things in favour of attack. Both things which regular gametime could address.

03 May 2022 08:22:56
Ramsey young player of the year in Scotland, meant to be a huge talent! Who's to say he can't shift Trent as our No.1 rightback one day?

03 May 2022 08:24:24
The key is winning trophies. Fergie kept very good players happy on bench due to it. Does Joe want to play every week or play now and again and have a cabinet full of big trophies and a stack of cash. Only he can decide.

Personally I’d rather stack squad full of the very best talent as long as they are happy enough with their lack of game time.

Would you all really want Bradley as RB for these last 10 potentially history defining games if Trent was injured or Joe? City wouldn’t accept it and neither should we if we want to compete for the big ones.

03 May 2022 09:08:00
Ramsay will be a star I’m an Aberdeen man and watch him weekly.

03 May 2022 09:15:51
@1jj - that’s what we have - a squad that is content with the party they play.

As we’ve discussed on here before, these days transfers tend to be the ‘whole person’ rather than just the ‘football player’. If Ramsey has the right character, attitude, talent and potential then he might well be someone the club would want.

Just as an aside, as things currently stand, if TAA was abducted by aliens who would we have to play at right back? Gomez, Milner and Bradley perhaps?

03 May 2022 10:38:35
£25million for Ox 😂😂😂😂.

03 May 2022 19:37:52
Apart from us signing Jude and Nunez I don’t see any other incomings.

04 May 2022 11:58:24
Wouldn't Gomez be considered cover for RB? He can play virtually any of the back 4 positions, can't he?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think so, they have already started to try and get a player in that position as I have previously explained.}

05 May 2022 09:07:24
Sorry Ed if I have missed it but can You or have you advised us on who we are looking at for the RB cover please?

{Ed002's Note - Calvin Ramsay (RB/RM) has attracted Premier League and Serie A scouts to Aberdeen with declared interest from Bologna, Sassuolo, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester United.}
