Lots of reports coming out with regards to Tchouameni at the moment.

English media: LivEcho (fairly unreliable) and Maddock (also unreliable) from the Mirror have said he's destined to join Madrid.

French Media: RMC (reliable) have stated he's agreed terms with both RM and LFC with a decision over his future sometime this week. Lequipe (semi reliable) have stated that the midfielder wants to join Liverpool.

Just to add onto this (pressed send accidentally)

Spanish media are reporting that they see the player joining Liverpool.

Any updates from the Eds? It seems that Liverpool might have agreed personal terms and are now speaking with Monaco over a fee? Could be incorrect and should we hold our breath over it?!

{Ed002's Note - Forget the personal terms - nobody has an agreement with Monaco.}

I saw Paul Mitchell claim that they would have to be 'aggressive offers' - you've previously mentioned that Monaco were looking to around €100mil, I would assume the final figure would be much lower than this?

Just wondering overall as it seems it could be a hugely expensive transfer.

Thanks as always! Also haven't seen much of WonderDogSparky as of late;)

{Ed002's Note - It would have to be lower. Monaco quoted that originally to Chelsea and Real Madrid.}

So are we taking from that Ed002 that personal terms cannot be agreed with a player until the parent club have agreed to allowing the interested parties to talk to the player? If this IS the case, do you ever think personal terms are agreed in “principle” behind closed doors based on the potential that said parent club May sanction the transfer?

{Ed002's Note - No, you misunderstand. This is why I said ignore it.}

Ed002 I'm aware the current situation at Chelsea means that they certainly are in no place to speak to Monaco surrounding a transfer, should this be resolved shortly could you see them also coming into the picture?

I'd assume that both Madrid and Liverpool will be aware of this and would look to seal a deal before Chelsea have an option to "swoop" in and attempt to sign the player.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't really work like that. Liverpool have had every opportunity to negotiate a deal with Monaco and the player - they have finally approached Monaco. Real Madrid and Chelsea have spoken to Monaco on several occasopns but, as you say, Chelsea cannot agree any transfer until the sanctions are removed with confirmation of a new owner. All three clubs have other players in a similar position that they are considering.}

News breaking that he's moving to Madrid for around £70m - guess that's over then. I wonder who else is on the midfield list.

Ed002, is one of those other players Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Is it news breaking on the Madrid site or just more clickbait?
People who buy into what they read with clickbait usually end up with egg on their faces.

Hi Flash it was news from RMC (very reliable) and Fabrizio Romano (and other French journalists) claiming that Madrid were in talks with Monaco for a fee around €80mil+ and the player has his heart set on joining.

Since this has been revealed however bizarrely Spanish media have started stating that Madrid have absolutely no intention to pay that sort of money and that the player prefers a move to the Premier League. Very bizarre stuff - best to ignore for now as it's all up in the air.

It’s pretty much a given, it’s been pretty much Madrid’s deal since Mbappe played them. We’ve acted too slowly and paid the price.

25 May 2022 07:59:24
Madrid needs a distraction after loosing out on Mbappe and will happily overpay to change the narrative.

That's what I was hinting at Monkey. So called "reliable sources" still do their fair share of guessing or just making stuff up to keep the clicks coming.
And as for acting too slowly and paying the price V4, what price have we paid? Were we even in for the player?
And if he isn't signing for Madrid, who's to say he won't be signing for us?
Nobody knows except the clubs involved, the player and the agent. If he signs for us, all well and good. If he doesn't then we aren't going to collapse, we'll find a viable alternative.
Klopp and co know what they're doing.
