I told you mane is talking to two clubs.
My other two pieces of info are cody gakpo (excuse spell) and lewandowski.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2022 06:52:46
Lewa would be an insane signing. Hope we focus all efforts on him and that Barcelona cannot afford him.

30 May 2022 07:10:01
Hope you’re wrong on both counts, Gakpo looks like the new Ryan Babel (which is absolutely not a compliment) and Lewandowski is an old codger with not many miles left on the clock.

30 May 2022 07:17:47
Since nobody know anything anyway, i believe you buddy, just keep them coming. This is a rumour page and it's transfer season.

Any news for midfielders?

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. :)

30 May 2022 07:41:10
VVVV, that "old codger" just scored 50 goals in 46 games 😂

If we'd had him up front in that CL final we'd have treble right now.

30 May 2022 08:17:04
Remember when ManU bought van person for one season to win the title? And before you point out his age his injury record was way worse that Lewa’s.

Could be a stroke of genius remembering we have the quick players around him like he has at Bayern.

30 May 2022 08:33:20
Not to mention converted few of draws into wins and did the quadraple lol.

30 May 2022 08:37:52
It’s an interest question re Lewa - a couple of years ago I would have said our model doesn’t need a true CF as Mane and Salah would make the runs into the box and score goals, but one or potentially both likely to move on, and Firmino getting on a bit, I think we may need to revisit. Diaz style of play is much more like a traditional winger and a target man would perhaps make a lot of sense, especially if we also start to use Elliot more down the right.

30 May 2022 09:04:43
Agree with all 3 of you. Our current squad is brilliant. Best we've ever had in my lifetime. But Lewandowski is the best striker in the world and would walk into (and vastly improve) any side in world football.

Benzema at 34 just helped Madrid to La Liga and Champions league. Suarez at 35 helped AM to La Liga last year. Ibra at 40 and Giroud at 35 just helped Milan to Serie A. Messi at 34 helped PSG reclaim Ligue 1. Ronaldo at 37 carried Man United all season.

At what point will people start to realise that the age at which players retire or start winding down is not 30 anymore?

30 May 2022 09:06:41
Nice but this has been doing the rounds for a week on Reddit so hardly new news, Mane is off to whoever pays the most. Breaking!

30 May 2022 09:10:49
Not exactly been all over the internet for the last few weeks.

30 May 2022 09:08:47
Yeah I don’t prescribe to the age thing at all. He is still producing. I wouldn’t expect the same numbers here but I’d expect he would fit in seamlessly and that our attack would start to look more in sync around the box imo. We’ve always lacked that consistent cutting edge around the box and a target like Lewa could be a great signing.

30 May 2022 10:18:12
I wouldn't care if Lewandowski only played 1 season and there was 'no resale value'. The man is proven talent (50/ 46 last season) and more importantly, has played under and loves Klopp.

{Ed0666's Note - would he post outrageous figures in the premiership tho?

30 May 2022 10:22:09
£50m for a 34 year old is a hard pass. Sorry, it just is. We’re talking about a man in the last throws of his career. Scoring a truckload of goals in the Bundesliga is no guarantee that he’ll do it here either, Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho and Sebastian Haller are a testament to that. The premier league is faster and a more physically demanding league than Germany and he won’t have the time or space he had over there. If we’re going to blow £50m+ on a player at least make it one that has miles on the clock to be able to adjust and at 34 he’ll be physically declining fairly rapidly.

A reasonable comparison is with Lionel Messi, he moved to Paris at roughly a similar point in his career, scored 30 league goals the season before he moved, then scored a measly 6 goals in 26 games this season in a new league, and arguably France is a farmers league, given PSG’s dominance. That should spell a huge warning.

30 May 2022 10:35:42
Ed0666, his job would be to at least match Salah's output, so we would be asking him to reduce his output by about 15-20%. 20 Prem goals would be an almost guarantee with him.

{Ed0666's Note - there’s no way of knowing for certain mate.

30 May 2022 11:02:40
Messi had 11 goals and 14 assists in the league and Champions league. How dreadful 🤔

Also i agree the Bundesliga is a lower standard but that doesn't stop people thinking Haaland with a far inferior goal tally and serious injury concerns, will suddenly cope with the rigours and vigours of English football. Not to mention Lewandowski had 13 goals in 10 games in the Champions Leagur last season.

I don't think he'll average a goal a game in the Prem, but he won't go from 50 in 46 games to suddenly being poor.

In terms of physical decline, what physical aspect does he rely on? And where's the evidence he's declining physically? He's got better in his 30's and is never injured.

30 May 2022 11:13:57
Ed0666's, there's sensible conclusions we can make though. If Jota can get 21 goals with that type of service from Trent and Robbo, you can only imagine what Lewandowski would get. Trent would be in fecking heaven finally having that type of player to ping balls to.

30 May 2022 11:14:14
Will our press not suffer with him leading the line though?

30 May 2022 11:56:22
That is a much more reasonable concern in my opinion, aoe.

Although, teams have to actually try and play football for you to press them. Our current side will dominate possession more often than not and that is when a player like Lewandowski can make the difference. A half chance is all he needs and he could find a yard of space in a match box.

30 May 2022 12:12:26
Victor, where does £50m come from?!

I posted yesterday - sent to the discussion page - that a straight swap with Bayern would be a dream for me. See if the old master can cut it up with the young pretender in the premier league….

30 May 2022 13:18:50
VVVV, you might make it to being a 34 year old 'old codger' some day, if you're lucky.

30 May 2022 13:23:38
So VVVV would you prefer 50 million on a Keita instead? It likely won't even get a Bowen. Don't get why you're so worried bout resale value. Are you a fan or the club accountant? And comparing Lewa to sancho, werner and haller is scraping the barrel. Mane got 23 goals in 50 odd games this season. I can see even a 35 year old Lewa surpassing that tally.

30 May 2022 15:11:19
It's a touch naive to believe that an ageing Lewandowski would arrive rock at Liverpool and outscore Sadio Mane.
It's an interesting one though because he's proven quality through and through. But if we'd be paying £50 million for him at his age (which we won't be) it makes a mockery of £25-£30 million for Mane.
We definitely wouldn't be pressing from the from in the same fashion and that's a big feature of Klopp's play, so I can't see it happening.
You never know though.

30 May 2022 15:51:58
I think the club has graduated from the strict old rule of "buy to sell-on for a profit" of the early years. It may still be an intention, but with the purchase of Thiago, the extensions given to mid-career and end-career players and the players allowed to leave on a free, tells you that this is no longer the priority for the club. They may prefer younger players but the priority seems to be buying players that can make an immediate impact, plug the holes wherever they are seen, and hit the ground running. Lewandowski certainly seems plausible to me. And let's forget the 50 goals. If he can give us 25 goals, added to the goals from the rest of the attack, it's good enough for me. And he'd be a player that many of the others could learn what "winning" is all about, because he's been at it for the longest time.

30 May 2022 16:05:05
Not sure where the 50 million figure has come from? Its nowhere near what is being asked.

30 May 2022 17:29:11
Hey Akira, do you know what sort of money is being asked? You hit the nail on the head with the Diaz transfer and I'd love to see Lewa playing for us even at his age.

30 May 2022 17:57:25
Mane lewand swap it is then, surely wages will be an issue tho.

30 May 2022 18:03:04
Like the premier league is some almighty Division 😂
Robert Lewandowski would not struggle scoring goals against Leeds, Brentford and Southampton.
Your talking about a striker who has done it constantly in the UCL over the last 10 years. He’s not Lukaku haha.

30 May 2022 19:21:32
Was mentioned above that lewa would cost 50 mill+ no way would want us to pay that but if mane wants to go and being reported that Bayern are trying to get him on cheap then they can’t complain if we get lewa for a lot less than they want with him being in same situation as mane (1year left on contract) difference being lewa has publicly came out and said he wants to leave, mane hasn’t. on eds comment on how well he would do in prem, would you say any team outside the top 6 have better defences than the teams in the bundesliga? He scores goals (a lot of goals) ronaldo got 18 goals as a number 9 in a terrible team this season and he’s not a number 9. I reckon he could easily score at least as many as ronaldo (I would be surprised if it wasn’t more) . I will admit tho the concern would be that he can’t press the way klopp would want so although I think he would do well in the prem I don’t know if we are the best fit for him (or he is best fit for us) but if klopp could find a way to fit him in then he could still get 20-30 next season.

{Ed002's Note - You all seem to have created this whole strange scenario where Lewandowski and Jarry Kane are joining Mbappe and Haaland at Liverpool - and then getting in these weird discussions where it becomes clear you have no idea where transfers work.}
