Gonna be honest, going to be sad to see Mane leave. He works his socks off and has 120 goals to boot for us. Would rather have Mane and Salah for 3-4 more seasons than Nunez for 5 but FSG doesn't pay the high wages these guys deserve and earned. Oh well, best of luck Mane! Will probably score a ton for Bayern in the overated Bundesliga!

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jun 2022 19:19:42
Mane is on the slippery slope pal. he was rubbish last season at times and being pushed central to accommodate diaz he's starting to score goals. but he misses some chances. Is no longer good enough on the left either. time for fresh blood. salah is next mate prepare yourself.

10 Jun 2022 19:20:40
The owners can't break the salary structure. We'd end up being the next Man U, paying a shed ton on wages for average players.

FSG have let high profile aging players depart from the Red Sox. This isn't a new situation for them. They would rather let them go and replace them than breaking the wage structure.

10 Jun 2022 19:24:49
Things have to move on that’s life and we need to look forward not backwards. I welcome the new changes.

10 Jun 2022 19:35:09
We will all miss mane but for another 5 seasons! He is loosing his explosiveness I’d rather see him go out his head held high.

10 Jun 2022 19:36:00
Don't be silly. FSG ain't silly, they are not going to pay silly wages for players who are ageing. Nunez is the future. They don't deserve 400k a week.

10 Jun 2022 19:37:51
He has been one of the best wingers in this clubs history (Top 2 LWs) but he hasn’t been that good people literally went from ‘sell him to PSG’ to ‘irreplaceable’ after that City game in the semis.
He has more big chances missed than goals scored in the EPL in the last 2 seasons he isn’t the same anymore
He isn’t the unpredictabile mane we once knew (Ancelloti it was easier to stop liverpool than City and CFC) and his G/ A output isn’t as good as people think.

10 Jun 2022 19:40:09
I have always felt like Mane and Salah were mercenaries. Highly professional mercenaries and born winners, but they always gave the vibe they'd leave if a better offer was there. Firmino is the one who gives the impression he loves the club more than he loves his paycheck. Could easily see him doing what Milner's done, next summer and taking a pay cut to stay.

I will really miss that front 3 though. They were special for us and put us back on the map. I hope they're remembered as they should be, and not by how it looks like it may end for Mo and Mane in particular.

10 Jun 2022 20:13:08
Foreign players who stay for more than 3-4 years on peak form are nowhere near mercenaries. Fans have been spoiled by Mane and Salah tearing teams apart for the last 5 years. They may want bigger wages or simply a new experience in Spain or Germany. We should be thankful they were legends at the club unlike a Suarez, Sterling or Coutinho.

10 Jun 2022 20:18:51
Can’t compare Coutinho Torres to Salah and Mane
Coutinho was one of the best itw playing for a team that finished 4th itl
Torres wanted to renew but he wasn’t offered a good wage at all
Mane and Salah were the best for a Liverpool side that was winning trophies.

{Ed001's Note - Torres didn't want to renew.}

10 Jun 2022 20:21:02
They've won just about everything there is to win at Liverpool. They're always be legends in my opinion.

10 Jun 2022 20:41:09
Didn't say Torres. Sadly he played under H&G era. The players I mentioned were ****ers in trying to leave the club. Salah and Mane are ultimate pros compared to them. Perhaps be thankful they are not dragging the club to court or being 'injured' to get a move? Thanks for the years of memories and good luck.

10 Jun 2022 20:43:18
They never won the quadruple.

10 Jun 2022 20:48:05
People have been saying for about 18 months that our front 3 needs freshening up and now the club are doing that they are complaining that a 30 year old isn't being given a 3-4 year contract. It's just another excuse to moan about FSG. Almost every Liverpool supporter loves Mane but barring the last 4 months he's look like a player on the decline, it's time to move on.

10 Jun 2022 21:06:37
Well said thunderbird. agree 100%. And if we're talking of getting rid of mane and salah next season for nothing. surely Bobby's time is up. 3 legends but bobby should of gone 2 or 3 seasons ago.

10 Jun 2022 21:45:08
Bobbys been getting paid 80% more a week than the mercenary Mane for the last 4 seasons.

Mane needs to sack his agent and bring in Don King or Matt Hancock them pair would rob their own nans.

10 Jun 2022 21:25:55
2-3 seasons ago when he helped us win the PL and CWC? Nonsense. He's declined as a player but he's no Martial. Firmino's goals to minutes ratio last season was decent considering the lack of starts. Also Salah and Mane leaving doesn't mean his time is up. Can see you been wanting him out for long but too bad he stays.

10 Jun 2022 22:01:26
Onwards and upwards, he’s played for us for six years and won everything in that time. He has been in slump for about 16 months prior to January 2022 so best to look at younger options whilst we can also sell at a decent fee.

10 Jun 2022 22:13:14
With every player these days hitting their slump at 30 are we expecting to also lose Vvd, Hendo, Thiago and even Milner after signing his new contract recently this summer.

If we lose all our 30 year olds we might have enough in the bank to pay Lewandowski as we really wanted that signing 6 days ago.

10 Jun 2022 22:14:20
The vibe of being mercenaries. goodnight?.

10 Jun 2022 22:20:25
True JK23, but that has nothing to do with being a mercenary. Loyalty is what's relevant, not salary. We chose to put Bobby on that wage, just as Mane chose to sign a contract for his wage. I'm not even saying it's a bad thing. Players are entitled to do what they feel is best for themselves, their careers and most importantly their family. I hold no grudges if a player doesn't love Liverpool as i do.

I just get the impression that Mane and Salah have always had an eye on the door or at the very least had their agents doing the rounds. I don't get that feeling with Bobby. I think he absolutely loves it here.

Obviously i have no proof of any of this, hence why i say it's the impressions i got, rather than passing it off as factual.

10 Jun 2022 22:38:44
Mk I get you mate and whilst it’s been said about Salah being offered around Any Mane rumours have been kept off the grid.

Personally I’d say they were Mercenaries if this was 3 years ago when they were 2-3 years into their LFC careers and having just won the CL. If they were looking to jump ship then, then I’d 100% agree that Mercenaries would sum them up.

They’ve given us some very very good years of their careers and only off the top of my head but apart from Hendo and Milner is there many players in the squad that have given us more years of service than Mane or even Salah.

10 Jun 2022 23:25:49
Yeah maybe there is a stigma attached to the word, JK23. I didn't mean it as an insult. I just don't think Mane or Salah really love Liverpool, whereas i think Firmino does. I even consider myself a mercenary though. If i was offered a better gig I'd hand my notice in tomorrow ?.

10 Jun 2022 23:39:03
I'm with MK on this one. However, as he says, its more of a feeling than a quantifiable. Mercenary may be too strong a word but employee for hire is closer to the truth. They have both been highly professional but for me Bobby gives the feeling of being one of us, whereas Sadio and Mo are just plying their trade.

To be fair to Sadio, there's never been rumours about his agent shopping him around. Maybe its that he never got the love that Mo did.

11 Jun 2022 00:12:23
Mk and Potclay you could be right gents but in my opinion, fair play to Mane and Salah they have loved the club enough to stay here for 5-6 years of their twilight years.

This will be unpopular but I believe Bobby hasn’t had the option to have his head turned as the best clubs in the world don’t look at him like they have done Mane and Salah. If we had put all 3 up for sale teams would have been beating down he door to get a mane or Salah.

11 Jun 2022 00:16:48
@MK / Potclay, I’m in the same boat too.

For me different people have different motivations. In the current set up, Jurgen Norbert, Robbo, Millie, Hendo, Tsimi, Bobby seem to be the ones who, at least openly, look like the ones who want to be here because they ‘get it’. I’m sure there are others who aren’t as outgoing but feel just the same. Then there are the ones who are doing a job - like Mane and Salah. It’s not a bad thing - it is a win / win situation for the players and the club / fans.

@JK, I don’t think it’s Bobby’s problem if he is earning more than Sadio - they both signed their respective contracts. As an aside I also think, at their relative best, Bobby is the better footballer by a country mile. Just my opinion though.

11 Jun 2022 01:47:05
Mane has been great since Afcon. But Gash for 2 seasons.

11 Jun 2022 05:12:42
MK - How do you determine a mercenary? Do you infer then that their years at Liverpool have been just about making money and now they’re off to their next payday?

11 Jun 2022 06:26:58
Mane has been an outstanding servant for the club playing a huge part in our success over the last 4 seasons! What's undeniable is he has plateaued and lost consistency over the last 12 months or so! Given his age it's only fair that he seems every opportunity to maximize his retirement savings! There's no doubt our strike force needs refreshing, and now is the time!

11 Jun 2022 07:04:33
Gents great to hear everyone’s opinions and everyone including myself is going to think their opinion is the right one.

Mane in
19/ 20 - 22 goals and 12 assists. We win the league and he’s world class.
21/ 22 - 23 goals and 5 assists. He’s terrible, he’s on the decline etc.

There’s no denying he’s not hitting the heights as consistently as he was 2-3 seasons ago but the guy has just had a better season than 99% of other left wingers and strikers in what is regarded the best league in the world.

The lad looks like he’s moving on and the effort him and Salah put in, in every game they have played for us tell me that they love the club.

All good things come to an end and we don’t have to part in bad terms. Origi is leaving as a legend for scoring the odd goal here and there.

Mane and Salah seem to be leaving with us digging dirt like a woman scorned. Perhaps it’s because underneath it all them pair leaving is what hurts the most.

11 Jun 2022 07:07:52
WDW just on Bobbys wage mate I have zero issues with what he’s being paid and for what he’s done he thoroughly deserves that contract.

My point was in reply to the mercenary comment (MK has since replied saying he doesn’t seem mercenary as the money side which is fair enough) which I think k of Mercenary as someone who is only there for the pay check.

With him being the 12th best player in the squad his agent hasn’t done him much justice to earn that tag in my eyes. Matt Hancock could have probably got him a 30 billion PPE contract as well as some nights out during lockdown.

11 Jun 2022 08:21:58
Why wouldn't Bobby be happy here he's a forward who doesn't score goals being kept around on great wages at probably the best club side on the planet. If i was him i'd be over the f#$&ing moon.

{Ed025's Note - spot on jadon..

11 Jun 2022 08:40:46
When a player is on the decline but still better than 90% of the others around him in his position should we be in a hurry to kick him out?

{Ed025's Note - no if that was the case flash. But unfortunately mate your looking at it through red tinted glasses. He has been gash for 3 years now and it’s time for him to be put out to pasture imo..

11 Jun 2022 09:25:09
Flash are you talking Bobby or Mane?

11 Jun 2022 09:31:14
At their best. you think bobby is a better player by a country mile? Very debatable. When was the last time he was at his best anyway. For him to be on more a week than mane, Sat on his arse on bench or on treatment table while mane plays virtually every game. that is nothing short of a joke. No wonder mane wants to leave. Bobby will always go down as a legend for this club. but come on.

11 Jun 2022 09:32:01
Bobby may or may not be gash Ed025 but if he was half the player you think he is now he’d still be a walk up starter every week for the Toffees.

{Ed025's Note - he’s the only one of your players I wouldn’t take WDW. We have enough lazy underperforming layabouts as it is mate. We don’t need anymore..

11 Jun 2022 09:34:27
Some of the comments on Mane are utterly bonkers.
I’m not sure who you are watching at others clubs that have delivered in terms of effort and performance in these past five years that get close to him.

I know once all watched YouTube’s of Gakpo and others but trust me, every other clubs fan base are watching our players and thinking “if only we had them”.

Mane has been superb. For £30m he is one of the best transfers we have ever made and last season he was an absolutely vital part in a season that was two tiny incidents from being the best any club has ever played…

Most of you really look like spoiled Brats on here.

11 Jun 2022 09:50:32
People have gotten too used to the quality the lads have provided us with. People even claim int manes been poor for two years? That’s just not true. But he looks the most likely to leave so I’m assuming it’s a coping mechanism. Reality is if we receive enough money for him then we need to let him, Bobby and salah go at some point whether it’s for money, on a Free or retirement. Mane has been a great servant to the club helped us achieve stuff that as a lad under 30 always felt quite distant. Goodluck to him and hopefully Diaz and if the Darwin transfer goes through, Darwin too can push us further and further.

11 Jun 2022 09:55:53
I back track gents. Mane is def on the decline. I’ve just checked his league goals over the seasons and there’s no denying it.

17/ 18 - 15 Goals
18/ 19 - 12 goals
19/ 20 - 9 goals
20/ 21 - 9 goals
21/ 22 - 5 goals.

11 Jun 2022 10:01:06
Unfortunately lads football is also a game of egos aswell as talent and if some other club is offering more money as well as a firm massage of their ego then it’s very rare the player stays loyal to the club they play for . But loyalty works both ways remember what’s to say Liverpool wouldn’t renew mane contract and then sell him so we as fans just need to support anyone in red for as long as they are here and in manes case thank him and wish him good luck on his new adventure . whilst getting as much money for him as we can and support whoever comes in to replace him . Players come and go as long as tge team wins ??????.

11 Jun 2022 12:21:27
Mane is on the decline, it’s the linear nature of time but let’s look at our league competition and see if the have a better left sided/ central attacker?

City - Grealish/ Sterling
Chelsea - Pulisic/ Werner/ Mount
Arsenal - Martinelli/ Lacazette
Spurs - Son/ Bergwin
West Ham - Fornals/ Lanzini
Wolves- Neto/ Hwang
Everton - Gordon

Honestly, no one (bar Son) gets close to Mane. The only players within touching distance are Diaz and Jota.

Honestly lads, if you are not fully appreciative of what Salah and Mane have offered us (and still could) then I don’t know what to tell you. This is the best it will ever be as a Liverpool fan. If this isn’t for you, try Lacrosse.

11 Jun 2022 12:45:31
@ Why0why You missed off:

Liverpool - Diaz.

11 Jun 2022 13:04:36
Why0why you also missed off the fact I think he out scored every other centre forward in the league in the 4 months he played there.

And to think we used to shovel that Mane and Salah could only score goals if they played with a certain someone. As they say proof is in the pudding.

11 Jun 2022 14:45:15
But guys, he’s washed (at 30) he isn’t levels or generational…. there is a 6 year old at Slavia Prague who scored 6 last week.

We’ve been blessed to have such a decent player as Mane.
Lewandowski is off, Mane will be the main man at a massive club which will give him a wonderful next 3 years.
He should go with our absolute appreciation.

11 Jun 2022 18:06:05
Mane has been a first class servant. I’d be happy if he stayed as he has things to offer. However I’m not losing sleep at the prospect of losing him either. If we get a top class replacement e. g. Nunez, then it’s not a problem. However it’s naive to think Nunez will be at the calibre of Mane. Additionally Diaz, whilst he’s made a promising start, he’s a lot to do to get into Mane’s class. When Manè joined he was a world beater from the off.

11 Jun 2022 22:37:40
Can we pleeeeease drop the 'FSG just want to pay the wages these players deserve' ( from original poster above) prattle.

Firstly, FSG don't have the money without selling off all our silverware plus the Shankley Gates. Secondly, as much as Mane will always be a club legend, he is forcing his way out of the club here - nothing wrong with that in the modern game, but we can't keep blaming the owners.

12 Jun 2022 11:10:02
Jk mane has 5 goals in 21/ 22, where in gods name have you found that, he's 16 league goals alone, 5 CL. Hardly someone on the decline.

12 Jun 2022 11:13:36
While I agree to a point shabby, we are one of the best teams in world football, have a world-wide fan base and the money in football is only going up, at some point we're going to have to up our wage structure for our best players or we'll lose them. Would you stay in your job if you could double your salary elsewhere.
