Ed002: Is there any truth in the Werner from chelsea Rumour?

I personally don't expect there to be anything in this, but any info you have would be appreciated.

Thanks for all you do across all the sites.

{Ed002's Note - Timo Werner (F/LW) Bayern Munich discussed the player with Chelsea and were open to a possible part exchange but Chelsea were not interested in the player offered. Borussia Dortmund were keen to add Werner and Chelsea are open to letting him go, but interest may be waning. Juventus has declared an interest during a recent meeting with Chelsea as they fear the loss of Dejan Kulusevski - and that discussion may well lead to a part exchange being proposed. Barcelona and Atletico have enquired after his availability. Will leave if the right offer arrives. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool.

Thank god Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has his phone number of course.}

To quote Dave Bassett, “He couldn’t hit a cow’s a#se with a banjo”.

I actually think Werner would be some player under Klopp. I don't think for a second it'll happen but there is a reason he was interested all those moons back.

25 Jun 2022 15:51:57
Hope you’re not suggesting that all Klopp has to do is “Tap” in Werner’s number Ed002? ?.

25 Jun 2022 17:15:08
Agreed WYred he could be Torres in reverse, awful at chelsea yet good in a reds shirt.

I still remember how excited most of us were when we thought he was nailed on to join us.

If Klopp was to dial the number i don't think he would get reported for tapping up on this occasion!

{Ed0666's Note - I agree with you & WYRred the only difference between a heralded Werner and a ridiculed Werner is hitting the post a tonne of times, wretched luck and composure in front of goal which was largely due to the lack of confidence. There is a real player in there and like you guys said I think klopp could really harness and nurture that. For me Werner would have been a cheaper alternative to Nunez and maybe even a safer one. I’m ready for the abuse. ?

25 Jun 2022 17:35:28
I’m a Chelsea fan but I will absolutely concur with those who said that a lot of his failings are simply a matter of failings on the clubs side. He played acceptably under a terrible manager (Lampard) when he was signed. Then Tuchel came in and introduced a system that isn’t at all suited to his strengths. This and his poor luck shattered his confidence and the Lukaku signing was the nail in his coffin. I fully well expect him to go to another team and light it up just to make the imbeciles who slag him off look like the muppets that they are.

Hopefully Nunez is better than Werner. Won't our next forward purchase be a replacement for Salah i. e. a scoring winger who can cut in and find the spaces Nunez leaves when he comes wide or into the #10 spot.

25 Jun 2022 17:18:35
Wasn't Werner swerved because he's not great in tight spaces/ bus parking situations? He is not suited to the EPL and needs to goto a slower, less physical league asap.

{Ed002's Note - No, that wasn’t it.}

25 Jun 2022 18:23:55
I’d take Werner for a reasonable price. Wasn’t it something to do with hearing/ crowd noise etc not tight spaces?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

25 Jun 2022 19:05:18
I think Werner would be great under Klopp. However we don’t need him now with Diaz and Nunez capable of playing on the left and Jota, Bobby and Nunez capable of playing through the middle. It’s a left sided attacker we need.

25 Jun 2022 19:05:36
Right sided I meant to say!

25 Jun 2022 19:22:49
Taki, Mane and Div replaced with Nunez doesn't add up. When is Gakpo getting announced?

25 Jun 2022 19:30:19
I try and watch as much football as possible, even if it’s not Liverpool. Watched a lot of Chelsea games over the last two years and we shouldn’t go anywhere near him. Seems like a nice lad and in a way feel sorry for him at times. But he simply cannot grasp the offside line and makes all the wrong decisions most of the time. Also he finishing is below par, which was surprising when you compare him to the Werner of Red Bull. What he does have is pace but pace without football intelligence is useless. Just have to look no further than a certain Mr. Adama Traoré for an example of that.

Werner didn't happen because we wanted extended payment terms, and Chelsea was able to pay the £47 Million upfront. That's why and how we got Jota a couple of months later in the summer of 2020; Wolves gave us extended payment terms on the
£41 Million (plus add-ons) .

25 Jun 2022 21:26:38
@Spaceman, you forgot Diaz and Carvalho. Nunez, Diaz and Carvalho have replaced Mane, Taki and Div.

26 Jun 2022 10:35:23
Taki and Div hardly needed replacing with the amount of minutes they played in the league. Cup games I see Gordon playing the minutes Taki did in the early cup rounds. With Bobby Jota as the main back ups to are forwards no AFCON this season so we won’t be losing 2 of are main forwards less minutes to go around it all so looks as if Ox is staying for at least the last year of his contract we seemed stacked with players. For me if we do sign anybody else this window we need to get rid of players first that are not going to play to many minutes. Like if we do sign another midfielder Naby and Ox need to go otherwise we are just going to be blocking Elliott and Carvalho’s minutes.

26 Jun 2022 12:28:51
Is it possible we might have injuries Grino? That might impact game time.

26 Jun 2022 18:09:30
I'd happily swap Jota for Werner - Don't shoot me - Jota makes me feel like his ability is capped. Whereas Timo is a Kinder Surprise. Just presently without the paper instructions inside!
