Is there any interest in Keita, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think there have been any approaches.}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2022 11:20:39
Do you think there might be?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot make such predictions - but I doubt it.}

26 Jun 2022 12:52:29
He's on big wages plus as you've said Ed002 he's restricted to what countries he can play in unfortunately.

I believe Toby Carvery are looking for spud peelers.

26 Jun 2022 13:53:01
Iron man, does that job have hazard pay because it sounds a bit strenuous for him!

I'm just bantering by the way before the lynch mob come after me!

Lynch mob or lunch mob, MK? ;)

Can anyone recall how well thought of keita was, I remember there was a lot of excitement (even the handing over of the number 8 shirt) . But non Liverpool fans, was it a big deal, I find it staggering just how ineffective he has been. There's a long list of players we've signed that disappointed, off the top my head aqualani was the big one for me, where I thought we had signed a player that could add something different. But I don't put keita in that bracket, he never seemed that exciting or different. Thiago would be the most recent example, though I'm delighted with him and he has lived up to the expectation that came with a pedigree. It's a genuine question did keita have much of a pedigree or did we just spend 50 odd million on a player like the 7 million on taki? If so who would rather take a hit and have sold keita for 8-10 million and have kept taki?

{Ed0666's Note - Aqualini was injured when we bought him and let’s face it he was an absolute flop! For me tho the biggest waste of money in our history was/is Andy Caroll, we got our pants pulled down on that one royally. L

26 Jun 2022 17:57:47
Benteke was on par with terrible Carroll imo! Shame as well, he was good for the villa system at the time.

26 Jun 2022 18:02:10
Genuinely forgot about Carroll. I think I just erased him from my memory. Though I wasn't excited about him either. Which I guess is my point, am I wrong to be disappointed in keita, he didn't set the fee, I just honestly can't remember if he was rated that much outside of big fee expectations.

Borini, the last time I watched YouTube clips about an incoming player…. thought he was a world beater ?.

26 Jun 2022 18:20:50
Borini looked good biting his hand though.

26 Jun 2022 18:33:03
Julian Dicks - was supposed to be a decent left back.

26 Jun 2022 19:18:51
It’s completely unfair on Benteke. He never stood a chance in Klopp’s system. He’s a target man and that’s not our system.

The biggest flop ever for me is Balotelli: a fraud of a footballer and the fact we thought he could replace the most mobile and flexible forward we’ve ever had in Suarez was numskullery.

26 Jun 2022 20:05:40
Benteke, Borini, Balotelli, Carroll, all absolute pony.

26 Jun 2022 20:33:19
Carroll was swept under the carpet as soon as we announced Suarez that same day. Suarez made the headlines positive, 2 wrongs don't make a right though.

26 Jun 2022 21:54:44
Ed0666 I thought it was just Carroll attitude he could have been a very good player destroyed Terry in a game. But it was his drinking effecting him injured all the time.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not sure caroll had the talent even if he’d acquired the application mate. Wasn’t even that great at Newcastle if you ask me.

26 Jun 2022 22:13:32
Keita is bad but he is not £8-10 Million bad. More like £20-25 Million bad. But the point is that FSG will never sell him at even that price after having paid what they have. I think Klopp would have kept Taki, but Taki simply wanted more playing time. I read in an interview how he said that the 10 goals didn't mean as much to him as the need to be more involved with the team and its success.

26 Jun 2022 23:52:46
El Hadji Diouf for me. The worst ever. A no.9 striker that went through a whole season without scoring 2003 - 2004. I remember I deliberately did not watch Liverpool games when he played after his spat against Celtic fans. Horrible player, worse human being.

27 Jun 2022 00:27:07
Keita is a better player than Taki. As well as Taki did you have to remember the good performances and goals were in the cups. We wouldn't have won those cups without him, but let's be honest if Taki was staring games ahead of mane, Diaz, Salah, jota firmino and maybe even Origi fans would have went mad. We seen in big matches in the champions league and league at the end of the season when Keita gets a run and form he put in some very decent displays along side fab and thiago.

27 Jun 2022 10:46:30
I remember watching Andy Carroll score a hat trick including an over head kick after coming on as a sub for England u21s and I wanted us to sign him from that moment he scored plenty in the championship at the time then got a good amount in the prem before we signed him in the January and I thought it was going to be amazing how wrong I was.

27 Jun 2022 11:36:04
Ballotelli was dreadful. Worse than Carroll for me. Richie lambert wasn't much better or voronin or borini. god we've had some dross upfront.

27 Jun 2022 16:17:18
In terms of absolute amounts spend on a player, Keita has been the biggest waste of money in LFC history.

Though Carroll, Balotelli, Benteke and Aquilani were probably even more useless, they didn't break the 50 million mark. Phew.

Keita should have been sold before Taki.

But you aren't taken seriously if you're from Japan or Korea.

Son was probably the best forward in the league last year and didn't even make the team of the year, never mind player of the year.
