Linked with Benjamin Sesko of Salzburg now. Young striker who is attracting interest from Tottenham at present according to reports.

Top talent, me personally i would sacrifice Bobby to get him in.

07 Jul 2022 00:00:34
Sacrifice Bobby for no one me.

07 Jul 2022 06:59:41
Sacrifice Bobby for no one? Rose tinted specs again that costs us titles and Champions League wins.

07 Jul 2022 07:41:29
I think if we started sacrificing our players we’d really struggle to get new ones in. In the viking todays it was an honour but these days I’m not so sure. Better to keep them in the squad.

07 Jul 2022 08:56:54
Fried - I think you’ll find it was the team that cost us the loss of “ the champions league final and the league “

How can you blame the loss against Madrid and letting leads slip against, Chelsea, Brighton, losing to West Ham on Bobby?

07 Jul 2022 09:04:32
On the positive side, the red of their blood wouldn’t show against the shirt, small mercies ?.

It is not beyond possibility that Mo's contract renewal may still result in him being sold (value now protected) in 1-2 seasons time, depending on various factors.
In which case, buying a talented young upstart (winger) would be a good thing so that he can learn from the best and settle in.
There is something about the 2 year extension that suggests this renewal is a compromise for FSG, rather than a full commitment to see out Mo's future at LFC.

The Bobby of a few years ago is gone, he's 31 and i would say 5th choice at best for the upcoming season. Love Bobby, a great servant but the time might be now to part ways if it meant getting a top young talent in.

07 Jul 2022 09:31:10
Frode nothing rose tinted about my sight.

07 Jul 2022 09:35:45
Sacrifice Bobby? Wow!

07 Jul 2022 10:10:18
32 goals all comps last 3 seasons,23 in the league over that period and only 5 league goals last season. The days of the 27 goal season of a few years back are well gone! i know he offers more than just goals but c'mon, them numbers are just nowhere near good enough for a number nine at this club.

07 Jul 2022 10:54:19
How many games did Bobby play last season? The fact he missed a fair few through injury might have contributed to the total.

I said last season that I thought his legs had gone but - perhaps Thiago aside - he has probably the best intuitive football brain in the squad. He may not be a walk-up starter these days but he is a brilliant back up and, like a couple of others on here, with a good break and a full pre-season I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bobby of old reappear, in which case he will be a definite starter.

Anyway, let’s see what Jurgen decides.

The disrespect Bobby gets is disappointing. He had his first ever season disrupted by injuries and people are ready to throw him on the scrap heap.

Amongst our forwards, he's our best link man by a country mile and one season with niggles does not now mean he's finished.

It was not long ago that Bobby came on at the Emirates and completely changed the game. His link up play at Southampton was a thing of beauty. In fact despite his injuries, he still scored 11 goals in 35 games (many as sub) with 5 assists.

We talk a lot about us being more susceptible to counter attacks and wanting another DM but there is also an argument that without Bobby our forwards lose possession more often, increasing the opportunities for the opposition to break on us.

Did I say I am a Bobby Firmino fan? Give him an extension, Julian Ward!

07 Jul 2022 12:24:20
A bench with Firmino is far stronger than the thought of only Jota to rely on!

07 Jul 2022 12:26:32
Would never disrespect Bobby, a great servant and my sons favourite player but he had four or five seperàte muscle injuries last season which at his age is worrying and his output has been declining year after year that's just fact. Of course replacing him with a 19 year old Sesko would have its risks but its a risk i would take. We are building the next great liverpool squad with the likes of Trent, Ramsey, Kellleher, Konate, Jones, Elliott, Carvalho and Gordon. Sesko could be another part of that along with hopefully Bellingham next year.

Eds, I for one wouldn't want to see Bobby replaced in the squad, but is there any interest in the lad Johnson? He's been in the number 10 role for a couple of years although he has scored several own goals. He had 2 years left on his contract but appears to have been released today. just wondering if you've heard anything ??.

07 Jul 2022 12:37:46
I’m not a qualified physio but Bobby looked like he’d recovered in a couple of games towards the back end of last season. Like I say with a break and a solid pre-season who knows (although I suspect the medical team at Liverpool might have an inkling) .

07 Jul 2022 13:01:49
Firmino will be played as a 10 more often as he gets older. Don't see the need of his sacrifice to sign a striker or no9. He's not at his peak nowadays but he's not a pub player. If we need attacking cover it should be a young cheap player ideally HG. May be Asensio as versatile. Can't see a striker as priority with Darwin, Salah, Jota, Firmino. Then there's youngsters like Stewart, Woltman.

07 Jul 2022 13:04:02
Bobby had the copa America prior to last season too. The lad has barely had a break. fingers crossed the muscle injuries where down to the past few years workload. I suspect his injuries, maybe salahs towards the end of season too, were fatigue related. Bobby could play a deeper role if required imo. I personally think we'd be mad to consider letting him go.

07 Jul 2022 13:59:31
What was it Paisley used to say? "let their legs go on some one else pitch". Bobby is definitely at that stage and peoples fondness for him shouldn't blind them to the fact his best is behind him.

07 Jul 2022 15:44:50
Bobby's legs gone? He's a no 10 with salah and mane, or jota or Diaz around him, he's going to look slow in comparison. The pursuit of Tchouaméni suggests a change in formation this year from 4,3,3 to 4,2,3,1 as klopp would use at dortmund. The signing of carvalho adds to this. Thiago can play there and importantly Bobby did before klopp changed him. I can see us playing, fab and hendo, Diaz, Bobby, salah and then nunez up top.

07 Jul 2022 16:48:39
We have two No.10's besides him in Elliott 'n Carvalho.

07 Jul 2022 17:19:56
Bobby Firmino for President (or Prime Minister if you prefer)!

07 Jul 2022 18:37:49
Sentimental the lot of yous. give him a coaching role if you want him to stay. But his time is virtually done in the team. Best link up man? . he was really bad last season at times when he played. Let the young ones have some game time.
Not slating him, he's been a superb player for us, but in that position he should be scoring 15 to 20 atleast per season.
